Two of the greatest icons in daytime drama history are being recognized for their performances and contributions in news today from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).

This year at the 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards none other than Days of our Lives all-time, real-life supercouple and on-screen duo, Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Doug and Julie Williams) will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony on Sunday night, April 29th, 2018 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Southern California.

“I’ve been star-struck by the dynamic duo of Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes for decades,” said David Michaels, SVP, Daytime Emmy Awards, NATAS. “The scope of their work across the television, film and stage landscape is amazing. Their continuing roles of almost 50 years on Days of Our Lives, where they also met and married, is a Daytime story like no other!”

In addition to Bill and Susan, another duo will receive the Lifetime Achievement Daytime Emmy at the Creative Arts ceremonies on Friday night, April 27th.  Those honorees are Children’s programming producers extraordinaire, the brother duo of Sid and Marty Krofft.

“In addition, Sid and Marty Krofft, our Daytime Creative Arts honorees, are masters of children’s television programming and have been part of my family viewing since the creation of H.R. Pufnstuf, Sigmund & the Sea Monsters and Land Of The Lost. Their terrific variety programs such as The Donny and Marie Series on ABC and Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters have only solidified the breadth of their talent across the television spectrum.”

So, what do you think of Bill and Susan being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Daytime Emmys?  Comment below!

Lol hooray! I can’t wait to see old clips of bill singing lol

What a great couple! So happy for them! they always light up the screen.

When I see Doug and Julie on DAYS, I am reminded why I got hooked on soaps in the first place.

Cograts on the legendary actor bill Susan Hayes let go days of our lives

“this” is icing on the cake… cheers to Bill and Susan… VET Salute

“what” a banner year @Days

in a million years ; who would have thought

@Days

to seal the deal and nail it shut… Ron Carlivati gets the WGA for DOOL.

and more deserving than we can believe… BEST SHOW @the Emmys

Hollah !

Yes, yes, and yes, Patrick….
This couple is “icing on the cake”
And, lo and behold, Hattie is back!!!!! What are the chances she is ‘directing’ John to kill Andre and Steve?
What does she have over John’s head?

– more importantly – catch Carrie N Rafe .. sizzling it out

Christie Clark ; so gorgeous in her shoulder length CUT me some out

OH wait for the underlying temptations fired between these two as Hope … could just do her job…. and blinders on

let the show begin > @DAYS I haven’t seen this much hot in so long… for Rafe and the missed more than ever Christie Clark. PUHLEASE

———–

John – is – poisoning Steve (Patch) ????

with Paul and Will in the know.. and sleuthing this out

I don’t know when I’ve been so stumped… taken by complete surprise.. that @RC is writing up a “due’zy. ? whatever the case…

1. it’s nice to see Drake Hogestyn period. He did try and share this with Marlena… as she’s fielding calls from Will and Carrie… AND Hattie disrupting that ?? gothic cohesive knit group… like we were seeing inroads to what goes on with those DiMera. when one of their own dies

LOL oy the sense of humor and read between the lines this show has going on. all dressed in black… as the DiMera Clan whets the audience. SOD hasn’t said Thaao is gone… yet. I do not want this to happen… so if it’s Tony who’s coming back… for, me it’s Thaao Penghlis and Lauren Koslow TIME.

Patrick, I am sooo happy to see Christie Clark back as Carrie! Her scenes with Hope and Rafe were great. I want her back for good!

Beautiful post, Patrick…hold on….need to close door to mEn-cave, LOL….Too much noise….Superbowl—oh, wait….Timberlake is on….WOW!!! He’s soooo good!!
Well, I have always loved Carrie….Unfortunately, her visit will be a short one? She anf Rafe ( Cafe) can make Salem sizzle, Patrick. The Brady sisters have something in common—-they are both able to resuscitate Rafe…..so, if Sami is not in the cards, please, ye soap gods, let it be Carrie!!

I am a luck girl to have meet them, been on cruise. did a photo shoot and so many things with them. Love you both congrats.

I will never forget their love story. I watched Day’s years ago, and they were legendary. Doug and Julie, what a wonderful story they had. I’m a GH fan now, but Doug and Julie, and Luke and Laura are equals in day time history. They deserve all the awards they can get.

Congratulations to Bill and Susan. Both are awesome people …..

Well deserved by both actors. I remember when Bill first came on the show. They are both terrific. Now if only we could watch them get their award.

How I love you both! Saw you in person once, didn’t get to talk to you unfortunately. You deserve this award! Congrats!

I liked it when Doug sang “The Look of Love” and “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” to Julie back in the 1970s. It was such an elegant restaurant. Remember when they would bring a telephone to the table?! How times have changed.

Those shows were so good and only 30 minutes!

I’ve always enjoyed every performance by Susan Seaforth Hayes.

paul453, I so enjoyed those days of DOOL, classic and miss them so…Loved the Doug, Julie, Addie story line….Congrats to Bill and Susan, this is so well deserved…

Agree; loved those stories. I also liked Denise Alexander and the Andersons. Do they still exist? I’d love to see them again. Sometimes the tapes were wiped (like old Jeopardy, Concentration, and The Who What or Where Game).

I remember too those shows when Doug sang to Julie. Loved those shows. They had the chemistry that lasted all these years . Congrats to them both, well deserved.

They archived those old eps so Days should have all theirs…Doug and Julie are my all time favorite soap couple…liked The Anfersons, the Grants and the Peters families…thse were the Days!!!!

hi paul453, I haven’t heard of the Anderson’s in years…I remember Denise Alexander on DOOL…

Yes, paul, it’s a fact that every single episode of DAYS exists, but they’re under lock and key. I would love to see the first 4,500 episodes I missed!

This is such AWESOME news!!!!! So very well deserved!!!

Well, it’s about time!

Congratulations, Bill and Susan!!

Well deserved and overdue. Congratulations to my favorite real life and reel life couple.

This is another reason I would love to see the awards televised this year. I wish PopTV, Lifetime or Hallmark would pick up the show or maybe one of the networks could televise in the afternoon, like in the old days. Congrats to Bill and Susan.

Congratulations Bill and Susan! I can’t think of anyone more deserving. I’ve watched Days of our Lives for over 40 years and always enjoy scenes with Doug and Julie. Again, Congratulations for this wonderful award.

So happy for them! A good reason to hope for televised/streamed awards. It’s really the best soap news I’ve heard in the past month or so.

Doug and Julie my all time favorite super couple…both well deserve this honor!!!

They were on Time Magizine I think in 1976 I was just a kiddo my husband and I were in vacation saw them in a restaurant never approached we are not stalkers lovely folks god bless them

Congratulations to this lovely real-life couple! They are absolute soap-legends, so the kudos are well-deserved! I’m already hoping that next year’s recipient of this prestigious award will be Genie Francis….despite her relatively tender years in comparison to most honorees, she has been a fan favorite for four decades and her phenomenal Laura made a significant contribution to the popularity of the entire daytime industry that goes far beyond simply saving the ungrateful GH from certain cancellation way back in the late ‘70’s.

Hi, Shay,
Nice to see your name here…..yes, congratulations to Bill and Susan…….they deserve the recognition and more…
Ms Hall should be recognized, as well….Are you familiar with her? She plays a dual role….and the ‘evil’ character wants to eliminate her through her husband, John. LOL. ….as soapy as it can get….
Later, Shay…keep posting.

@CeeCee….Oh indeed, I do remember Deidre Hall and her Marlena/Samantha from years back…she’s another soap legend, to be sure. But at least she’s still viable on the DOOL canvas, along with plenty of other legacy characters that remain in Salem. GH is the soap which seems to demonstrate the great reluctance to retain its own longtime fan favorites….and Genie Francis’ Laura is the most egregious example of this shameful practice.

Well, Shay….that’s the reason I coined TPTB as “soap gods”—– they have the power to swing their marionettes on a string….vets or not, they only keep whoever they deem ‘ enhancing’ to the character of Sonny.

Although I have never been a watcher of Days, I have been a Y&R fan since the mid eighties when Ms.Hayes played Lauren’s mother. And if memory serves me correctly, I think she was having a c fling with John Abbott at one point as well. I loved then and I love her now. They are such a classy and distingushed couple and no one deserves it more. Congratulations

Congratulations, to both Bill and Susan and God bless you both

That is amazing! Congrats to Bill & Susan! They most assuredly deserve the honor! It’s a great pleasure whenever they’re on #Days. I also always enjoyed watching the Daytime Emmys, I wish they would televise the show again!

This is wobnderful news! So well deserved.

I wonder if Ms. Seaforth-Hayes Y&R turn is remembered, as Lauren Fenmore’s mother. I would love to see her return there. I love these now grande dames of daytime play important story roles. They provide continuity but, as in Marla Adams’s return to Y&R, show a need for this history, talent, and vitality from this demographic.

I never watched any of their shows, but I saw them for years and years in the various soap magazines. Beautiful and classy people.

Will the show be televised anywhere, including online? Great to hear about the Kroffts, too.

Congrats to Bill & Susan. Last of the original Horton clan.

And to the Kroft brothers as well…. after all, they gave at least two Days actors their first TV jobs. (lets see how many of you know what the Devil is talking about here)

Two of the Krofft brothers’ series were ‘Electra Woman and Dyna Girl’ starring Deidre Hall and ‘Land of the Lost’ starring Wesley Eure, Satan. Nice riddle.

You are correct! And check this out… It’s Marlena vs Tracy Quartermaine!!

CONGRATULATIONS Bill and Susan!!!!! Ya’ll DEFINITELY deserve it!!!!!

Satan, your comment about the Kroft Bros., so interested me, that I Googled them, but could find nothing in relation to the soaps or stars. I did certainly watch a lot of their TV works, so please, for those of us in the dark, please shed a little light.

Wesley Eure, who played the first “adult” Mike Horton, got his start on the Kroft series “Land of the Lost” (dinosaurs, Sleestaks, etc.)

And Diedre Hall (Marlena) was the star of “Electra Woman & Dyno Girl”. I’m sure you can find both shows on YouTube. Or the MeTv website used to have a lot of the old Kroft shows. Haven’t been there in a while so I don’t know if that’s still the case.

It’s about time!

The original Super Couple, and still going strong.

This makes me smile. Julie and Doug remain an important part of Days. Bill and Susan are certainly an important part of the genre. I am looking forward to watching it!

Well-deserved. Now get the show on TV.
