DAYS Billy Flynn Reveals When Chad DiMera Returns To Salem He's A Changed Man!

Courtesy/TwitterBFlynn

From the look and the sounds of it, when Chad DiMera re-enters the canvas on Days of our Lives on the Thursday September 12th episode of the NBC soap, he will have quite the edge!  There will also be something quite different in Chad since Billy Flynn will debut in the role once played by the very popular Casey Deidrick!

Flynn chatted with The Wrap to share his take on the character of the youngest of the DiMera men (sans Johnny), and previewed what’s to come immediately when Chad returns to Salem! Here are a few excerpts below!

Billy on the changes he is bringing to the role of Chad:  “Well, he got shot and he left, and he’s been spending all this time with Stefano. Who, you give Stefano 10 minutes with any one of his children, and he can pretty much eradicate any goodness that person has. But he spent a lot of time with him, and he finally embraced his name, which the old Chad was kind of in the process of doing, but he was having a hard time doing it. EJ was a big mentor to him at the time. When he left and he was with Stefano, I think he found himself. He got used to the power, he saw what the name could do. He was away from everything in Salem that was sort of making him … he had a whole lot of girl drama when he left, and I feel like getting away from that he was able to focus on himself. So he comes back more of a man, a strong DiMera. And in the first episode when he comes in, he sort of shows that in a really big way by taking on his brother.”

Billy on where Chad’s loyalties now lie: ” We kind of find out where Chad’s loyalties lie through the first two weeks of the journey, which are pretty much to himself now. The way I look at it, much like Stefano, everything’s kind of a chess game. With Chad coming back, everything is a chess game, and everyone in Salem is a pawn. He’s going to use anybody he absolutely can. He’s come back in the picture and he’s ready to assert his place as a prominent member of the DiMera family.”

So, looks like Chad will be the next EJ of the DiMera Clan, especially with the impending on-screen exit of James Scott (EJ)! Are you looking forward to an empowered Chad?  Let us know!

I see Chad as the new E.J.,…Abigail as the new Sami…Ben as the new Lucas…yes, itll be a wuv twiangle…lol…Chad will be more aggresive and will partner with Stephano in destroying Kate and getting back Dimera Enterprises!…maybe Theresa will get involved with Chad after a brief breakup with Brady…whatever really happens im looking forward to Chad’s return!!!

I would think the news of EJ and Abagail being splashed all over the press could set up some good tension between EJ and Chad.

yes

This sounds amazing. We need a Stefano 2.0 in Salem. Ej waffled back and fourth too often.

I’m excited about Billy tackling the role of Chad, and hope to find a stronger Chad return to the canvas. I’m excited about this right now; I’m ready to see Billy tackle the role and join the DAYS family!

With EJ leaving a new Dimera is needed, but I don’t see him with Abigail or would peg her as the new Sami– I think Theresa would be a better match for a Chad with an edge.

I agree with you about Theresa…i too wrote a possible Chad/Theresa pairing…dont know why i said Abigail as the next Sami…i guess i thought she’d develop an edge after all that had happen to her…after sleeping on it and reading your comments i decided we dont need another bad girl in Salem when we already have someone like Theresa to take over as the new Sami…she’ll fit the part perfectly!!!

I always thought it was odd that as popular as Casey was in the role, they always seemed to prefer him being a supporting character and certainly never really let him embrace his last name. He flirted more with it towards the end of his time on the show, but seemed like a last hurrah for him. So i’m very interested to see how this version of Chad steps into the Dimera legacy.

Will Abby be the “new” Sami? Or if in fact Melanie comes back, will she be the “new” Sami?

Sounds good. I’m glad they’re having Chad embrace his DiMera roots.

Hi yall!! I am a new viewer of Days and i must say the show is amazing!! Loving Theresa, The Dimeras, Eric, Brady..wow cant believe i dint get into it before;( the only two negatives are The guy who wants Hope … Humm how can i say this…. RECAST or turn him into a psycho that puts Hope
in danger and have her saved by a better character lol. Number 2 goes to John Black. Thank god he is a vegetable right now hope he goes too. Other than that this show rocks and i can’t wait too meet Chad Dimera

Sorry you feel that way about John Black. Unfortunately you’re not seeing this character at his finest. John Black was like the Luke Spencer of Days– He was an interesting complex character, his love story with Marlena was the one of the greatest relationships on soaps. He was one of the most central characters to the show, until he aged and they dumped him. Now they just bring him back when they need him, as a shadows of his former glory. The way the show has dealt with John in recent years, I think your wish will be granted and you won’t see him around too much, even if he comes out of his coma.

You need to watch some backstories on youtube, etc and learn who the characters are and – more importantly – should be. John Black is an icon of the show with an incredibly rich and complex history. I’m looking forward to him waking up and to BlackMagic2014. John & Marlena should be set up as the cornerstone couple of Days.

Chad, the cad? If so, welcome home!

There is only one EJ DiMera and only one James Scott-both are irreplaceable. EJ became a very popular character in spite of the writing and because of James Scott’s talent, not because his last name was DiMera. I knew this was what Days was attempting to do with the recast and it’s a mistake in my opinion. Whatever, I’m out when James’ last episode airs.

All I have to say..is he is HOTTTTTTTT!!!!

I’m just so happy that they recast the character of Chad Dimera. I never was a fan of the original (?)-I can’t remember his name. DOOL has come full force in the last few years. While I was growing up and in high school, there were a lot of unbelievable storylines, too many twists and turns, crimes never being solved, etc., etc. Now, the show is back to focusing on the core characters, legacy families, and (mostly) believable storylines. One thing I could do without-nuWill. I have to fast forward all of his scenes. He’s just too nauseating. The typecasting with nuWill and Clyde are awful. I do adore Eileen Davidson. So happy that Kristen Dimera is back in Salem!

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you want to see Lisa Rinna reprise her Melrose Place role as Taylor McBride? Comment below.

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Photo: JPI

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

So, are you happy to learn that Kristian Alfonso is back taping episodes surrounding Doug’s memorial episodes? Comment below.
