Another new casting move is happening at NBC’s Days of our Lives!  This time the show is looking for an actor to fill the contract role of Ares!

According to the casting breakdown,  DAYS is seeking a gorgeous, rugged 35-40-year-old Hispanic or Greek man to play the part.  And as to who they describe the attributes for the role is as follows: ” Formidable, mysterious, charming and confident.”

The role is said to be tentatively begin taping in October.  Of course, that is assuming they find their man.

OK soap fans, who from daytime or primetime television, would you like to see be considered for the role of Ares?  Put on your “Casting Director” hats and let us know!

He’s a decade older but how about Kamar who played Antonio Vega on OLTL…

Kamar could still fit that I think– depending on who he is paired with.

Another casting call? How many is that now? And…”Ares”… really?

That name is just for casting…it doesnt mean they will use it…kind of like a movie’s working title before they decide on an actual name they will use!!!

Brandon Barash, but he may be a little young.

Brandon is 34, so he’s close enough in age, but he looks younger.

I’ve thought that Brandon Barash would make a good Andrew Donovan, Theresa’s brother who we never hear mention of. Or he could be on of Sonny’s brothers. He could be more like the old school Victor since the K’s and Dimera’s are dying off. But another unconnected character… 🙁

how about ted king? swoooooon!

At 48, he’s a little old. But I’d love to see him playing someone on ANY soap!

In Greek mythology , Ares is the god of war (Mars in Roman myth.). He is typically symbolized by, shield, helmet, dog, chariot, violence etc…..he is an Olympian, afterall. If we are to go along that vein, then, this character needs to be strong physically, emotionally and mentally. He may be a football player, a racecar driver, a pugilist, a dog (animal) trainer, a veteran…..the possibilities are endless….if one were to choose the character according to his name.
So, hmmm, let’s see….John-Paul Lavoisier, Adrian Bellani, Jeff Branson, Justin Bruening, Charles Divins and Colin Egglesfield…just to name a few of my favorites….also, fulfilling the representation of “Ares”.

Oh, I forgot…also, David Fumero….so good looking!!

I’d love to see David Fumero, but he just got a prime time gig.

michael muhney can play greek

Yes, Patrick…forgot about him…..how does he look shirtless? Lol. I don’t remember ever seeing him in that state of dishabille….maybe I did…tooooo milky white.

Aiden Turner

Thaao Penghlis

Someone on Facebook suggested Antonio Sabato Jr. He’s 42 and would be perfect. Sounds like this role is to be part of the DiMera or Kiriakis family.

I thought maybe one of Justin Kiriakis’ other sons, but the Hispanic doesn’t really work for that. Maybe Tony DiMera had a child we don’t know about?

Who knows how many ports Stefano has visited and how many ‘ships’ he has christened with his unholy ‘water’….anything is possible. I bet you are absolutely right, Reagan…there’s an illegitimate DiMera son skulking around looking for the father he never knew. LOL….sound familiar? Lol.

I must expand, Regan. Tony D. Is a possibility. But, if there is to be a new DiMera in Salem’s midst, then it would be Stefano’s spawn….as explained above. (Or Victor’s…I think Justin is too young to have a 40 year old son. Maybe?)
I have only been watching for 6 years, so I am not too familiar with Tony. Was he as promiscuous and devious as his father? Was his mother supposedly Greek, or did he play the part of 100% Italian as Stefano? I can’t see how because Thaao does not have the look of an Italian at all.
It is kind of confusing…either Hispanic or Greek? That’s a stretch. All the actors I have mentioned are able to play either role. Considering the amount of illegitimacy within both the Kiriakis’ and the DiMera’s respective families, an offspring could be from anywhere on earth….any race, color or creed, per se. But, why are TPTB being so specific?

Yes, absolutely. How could I forget about il bello Antonio. He would fit the DiMera ideology to perfection.

Again, why can’t we get back some of the MANY veteran Days characters that are off canvas. The show practically has no Brady’s left with Sami leaving. Mary Beth (Kayla) is underused big time. Theresa and Eric are around, but Theresa has little interaction with her Brady family. Bo is gone. Shawn & his family are gone. Kimberly, Max, Frankie, etc. I won’t get in to the other familes. There are a lot of soap actors out there that aren’t working (steadily) that I would love to see on Days, provided they were an appropriate recast for some of these characters we are missing.

How about Robert DeNiro ~ is he available?

LOL, Troy. I appreciate your wry humor.

I really like Kamar de Los Reyes and David Fumero as suggestions. I also think Jordi Vilasuso would be good.
