Days Of Our Lives
DAYS Freddie Smith, Guy Wilson & Christopher Sean Share Reactions To Supreme Court Ruling In Favor Of Same-Sex Marriage Equality!

Courtesy/GLAAD.org
What a historic, emotional, and proud day to be an American and for the LGBT community who fought the fight and ultimately prevailed when Friday the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage equality in a 5 to 4 vote. Now same-sex couples can get married in all 50 states of our nation and have the same legal rights as heterosexual couples.
On NBC’s Days of our Lives, three actors portray gay characters: Freddie Smith (Sonny), Guy Wilson (Will) and Christopher Sean (Paul). While daytime fans have watched their trials and tribulations on-screen, including a daytime drama landmark gay wedding between two central male characters back in 2014, Friday was cause for celebration for those who have told this story for an under-presented segment of the population on the daytime television landscape.
On-Air On-Soaps got the reactions this evening from Freddie, Guy and Christopher on the Supreme Court’s ruling. Freddie Smith related: “Today is such a great day. Marriage Equality for all!” Guy Wilson shared: “The Supreme Court’s ruling today serves to confirm what we have all already known to be true: that love always wins.” Christopher Sean stated, “What an amazing day for love and acceptance. I’m so honored to be part of the movement towards marriage equality. I guess the saying holds true, love conquers all. #LOVEWINS”

As people in the LGBT community celebrate tonight, it’s the words from Justice Anthony M. Kennedy and what he wrote for the majority in this historic decision that is profound and so meaningful: “No longer may this liberty be denied. No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of these petitioners in these cases demonstrates, marriage embodies a love that can endure beyond death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilizations oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right. The judgement for the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is reversed. It is so ordered.”
So, what did you think of Freddie, Guy, and Christopher sentiments on the Supreme Court’s ruling and marriage equality? Share your thoughts below on on this historic day.
It’s about time..
I’m a straight woman and I believe everybody has a right to love and happiness..
The Declaration specifically mentions three rights which human beings possess by birth–
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. No one may rightfully deny us these things.
(our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws)
CONGRATS for the win !
It is signed, sealed and delivered …
I finally find myself in TOTAL agreement with you, su0000!
Thank you for your genuine and heart-felt post!

Hi Jeremy..
It was a needless long journey filled with sadness and at times great loss to gay people’s..
They stood their righteous ground and fought bravely and steadfast for their freedom to love and marriage that is granted to all, Constitutional and God given.
It is indeed a great day !!!
So true. #LoveisLove
I recently watched a show of “the View” AND … guest actor… was on: from, “the big bang Theory” Jim Parsons
he reiterated.. that he is of the mindset: that after “living” so long… with the ideal that marriage may not be in our lifetime… that it’s OK… because.. we know love like anyone else…
I truly have taken this stance
what makes me happy… and cry … is that the younger generations plus… will not have that road less traveled… will bridge, make inroads, that much quickly…
valiantly march .. because tolerance pissed me off
“thank You” SCOTUS : this is a cause celebre
I’m certain if we stood side by side… and realized together how we care… about
God Bless America
Patrick, that was truly beautiful! Long time a’coming.
Many hearts have come together, after weathering the storm. I am so happy and proud for my friends who have waited forever, it seems. They have finally arrived. Much love and best wishes.
Dear Ceec :
inwardly : my heart to yours : I sincerely mean this : i’m touched
Much love and best wishes… I know that
hugs and gratified… I’ll take your hand and walk

A very sincere thanks to you, su0000!
THANK YOU!!!
I don’t even have a boyfriend. But it’s not about that. It’s about the fact that I am finally considered equal.
Amazing Grace. Thank you, President Obama and SCOTUS!!!!!
Amazing + grace

“I’m so happy”
What wonderful confirmation of “equal protection of the laws” for ALL people. Hallelujah. Congratulations to all the courageous people involved in these historic and vital cases.
I find it odd that actors playing gay soap characters would be asked how they feel without asking out and proud gay actors their thoughts. Both CBS soaps have many gay actors who could shed more light on this momentous moment.
The guys said what most people think. Love is love and everyone should have the same right to marry. I am so happy for all my friends who can now marry the man/ or the woman they love. I saw a couple get married today who have been together for 50 yrs waiting for the right thing to be done! Congrats to all 🙂
Love wins indeed! But does it really bother you so much to mention Chandler Massey? Ever? The WilSon story now is a story of deceit, cheating and frustration. Where is the love?
Yeah! How true! We can still hold that love in our hearts, regardless. Very intuitive of you, Mo. I respect that. Peace.
It’s hard to believe that it’s taken this time for love equality. Everyone deserves to have love, feel love, and give love. I agree, love is love-and if you care for, love, respect, and treat someone well-you should openly and willingly be able to accept and show love. It’s wonderful news and it amazes me that it’s taken this long (2015) for something so historic to take place!
I am watching Friday’s episode of DOOL, please-send Guy Wilson and the character of Will Horton to Chicago on assignment and out of Salem-for good. I can not stomach his portrayal or the character of Will Horton.
Right, dmr. It has now been how long? Everything about this guy irritates me. Even his gestures. That thing he does with his forehead drives me up the wall…know what I mean? The writers do not even try to redeem him. To make us like him. Instead, they are turning him into a cheating, manipulating, lying little Yenta.
I think I have been spoiled by Chandler…no other can replace him, not even the original Will.
He is so beautiful….eye-candy, indeed. I sound shallow, but, I don’t care….his acting was a lot more believable than this guy’s. I need to lighten up and be nice, HUH? I am contradicting myself, I guess. Sorry!!
I also adore Sonny and Paul.
Couldn’t agree more!
I hate who they have turned our wonderful loving , sometimes not the best decision maker (hiding the fact he was Ari’s dad), faithful Will into a lying, cheating, back stabbing, take no blame for all he has done, whiny little brat.
Agreed CeeCee – we were spoiled with Chandler and any replacement couldn’t match up. Especially since Chandler shouldn’t have been replaced. At least not until his contract was over. Never should they have Sonny marry a total stranger. Coz that’s what the sudden recast turned into. Totally unbelievable. Keeping GW on the show and knowing that viewers keep saying he has no talent, isn’t good for his career.
It’s sad to know that the creators pretend everything is fine and fans still watch. The only ones still watching clearly don’t care about how this once meaningful and topical storyline has become trashy.
Everyone loses with TPTBs stubbornness.

Congratulations to ALL that have refused to be silent, to fight for their rights for so many, many years. As a straight women and American, I have actually been embarrassed for longer than I can remember that many states did now allow gay marriage. This is 2015 & we are the #1 country in the world. So many of our laws don’t match the times & motto of our constitution.
What amazes me is the number of vocal people on social media screaming blasphemy, quoting bible verses. This ruling has nothing to do with religion or their or mine personal beliefs. It’s about equal rights. Anyone can get formally married. Gay citizens can have civil unions. But to be legally married, thus getting all of the rights that marriage ensures, you have to get that marriage license. Marriage licenses are for the married couple but for their GOVERNMENT to ensure the couple’s rights. I don’t understand why so many don’t get that! If folks don’t know what the ruling is about don’t comment on it!!
I will never understand how so many care, or think it is any of their business who you, I, perfect strangers, consenting adults love, partner with, spend their life wife, share their legal rights with, sleep with. It’s RIDICULOUS! I can’t imagine if I, in Nashville, started spewing about a random couple I’ve never met in Cincinnati-spewing opinions about their lifestyle & marriage. I’d be locked into a mental ward. I’ve never seen so many crazy, nosy folks. Tend to your own marriage & life! Unless it’s a child molester or killer I don’t care who anyone partners with!
Your post made me cry, Laurie. You touched my heart AND mind.
Thank you so much, Laurie!
