DAYS Greg Rikaart on Leo’s Reaction to Dimitri’s Kiss: “There’s No One He Loves More Than Gwen & He Would be Betraying Her in Such a Big Way”

Photo: Peacock

This week on Peacock’s Days of our Lives, things take a steamy turn, when in a preview for the soap opera, Dimitri (Peter Porte) plants a major kiss on Leo (Greg Rikaart), only to have Leo bitch-slap the guy!

It all goes down after Leo, who has been snooping around Chez DiMera, has the incriminating evidence that the only reason Dimitri is trying to get Gwen (Emily O’Brien) to marry him, is so the guy can get his hands on his inheritance. That happens, if Mr. Von Leushner ties the knot before he turns the big 4-0.

In story, when Leo threatens to tell Gwen what Dimitri has been up to, with no other choice, apparently, Dimitri kisses Leo, hoping the con artist will fall for him.  According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest (on newsstands now), Dimitri is insisting to Leo that he is truly attracted to him.  With a bing of conscience, Leo knows he does not want to hurt his bff, Gwen.

Rikaart said on the dilemma: “He’s tortured.”  The Daytime Emmy-wining star adds, “Leo has been unlucky in love up to this point, but there’s no one that he loves more than Gwen, and he would be betraying her in such a big way.”

A few months back on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, Peter Porte along with Miranda Wilson and Colton Little were part of a group discussion where the question came up of who the fans think will be Dimitri’s ultimate love interest.

At the time, Porte shared there would be two. One out of necessity and one he develops feelings for. So ,which is, which? Do you think it will turn out the Dimitri is really into Leo? Check out the interview below and then this week’s Days of our Lives promo featuring the big smooch.

Now let us know, do you hope Leo and Dimitri end up together? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Is there anything in the Von Leuschner inheritance paperwork that specifies that he has to marry a woman to get the inheritance? The paperwork was probably written decades ago before gay weddings were legal, so I doubt it would have clarified. I would think that any legal marriage where a license could be produced as evidence would be enough to satisfy the legal requirements of the inheritance document.

Now of course, if I were Dimitri, I wouldn’t trust Leo not to be in it for just the money, but then I wouldn’t trust Gwen either. Not that Dimitri is all that trustworthy himself, for that matter. So how ever this shakes out, it’s probably going to end up with all three of them trying to “out scam” each other. And Dimitri won’t have his crazy mother around to guide him.

I think the paperwork mentions wife and makes provisions for the biological children of husband and said wife and that rules out gay marriage. This story is interesting but it needs more of a tie in with the other families. For example, Megan could have easily chosen any actress to play fake wife but she picked Gwen specifically. Could it be because she is a Devereux and there is’ some unknown bad blood between Jack and the von L family to be revealed. Could the Johnson family play some role in this thus giving Stephanie a badly needed interesting story line and giving Patch and Kayla a reason to go on another ISA adventure?

Kudos for the woman who plays Megan. She was one very creepy mother. What if Dimitri is Bo’s son? Part Dimera, Part Brady all evil. It would be a blast.

I think Gwen worked perfectly because she is both extremely needy and sociopathic. Her heritage is so irrelevant that it was barely mentioned that she was Abigail’s sister. Chad was very judicious about not mentioning that she was briefly his baby mama, too.

Megan was a few years before my time, but I have to agree that Dimitri being 40 definitely raises questions about his paternity

The only “bad blood” I’m aware of between Jack Deveraux & the Von Leuschner family is when Jack & Frankie were “rivals” over Jennifer. And that was decades ago and resolved after one of Jack’s many returns from the dead. Also, Frankie barely has any ties to the Von Leuschners, as he grew up an adopted Brady, and the whole Von Leuschner thing was a rewrite that happened years after the fact anyway.

As far as Dimitri being Bo’s son… not likely. If Bo would have had a child with Megan, this would have happened when they were both in high school, some time in the late 1970s. Since Dimitri is just shy of his 40th birthday, that pretty much eliminates Bo as a potential father… unless there was some “assistance” from Dr. Rolf and he somehow had Bo’s “swimmers” stored in a freezer. Which would be ridiculous, of course, but no more so than Roman & Kate being the parents of the Space Egg Twins decades before they even met each other.

Megan is crazy, but not stupid. So in the very remote chance that Dimitri was Bo’s son, it would be more likely that she would try to set him up to claim a stake in the Kiriakis “empire”, rather than jump through hoops to claim a Von Leuschner fortune that he had no legitimate rights to.

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
