DAYS Mary Beth Evans & Stephen Nichols with Guest Ron Carlivati Talk Stayla’s Greatest Hits & Approach To Scripts During COVID-19

Photo: NBC and ABC

This week is a pivotal one for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) on Days of our Lives.  Will they be reunited once again?

To take a stroll down memory lane of reunions past, Mary Beth Evans along with her longtime on-screen scene partner and dear friend, Stephen Nichols, watched back key scenes from the history of Stayla and offered up a second viewing experience as they commented on the clips.

Later, Mary Beth and Stephen are joined by their surprise guest and it is revealed to be Days of our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati!

In her tweet, Evans announced: “Since we’re evidently leading up to something big on #Days … Stephen Nichols and I thought we’d get together & watch some of our reunions from the past. And, we were lucky enough to have a very special guest join us for a chat! #patchandkaylaforever”

Mary Beth and Stephen then chat with Ron about what changes is he having to make to scripts in the reality we all live in now, the coronavirus pandemic, and how he is taking in to account upcoming safety protocols that will need to be adhered to when Days goes back into production.

As of now, from an article in Deadline last Friday the NBC daytime drama series is aiming for a September 1st restart.

Watch Mary Beth, Stephen and Ron in part one and part two and part three of their discussion below.

You can find that and more on Mary Beth’s PlankBlog You Tube channel as well.

Let us know in the comment section what you favorite Patch and Kayla reunion has been … and if you are looking forward to how Days will look when it goes back into production within safety guidelines for COVID-19?

This is why their fans love them so much!!! The chemistry is just as real off screen as it is on, you can tell they have a genuine caring friendship and it reflects on screen. Appreciate Ron taking time to give some insight into what to expect. Can’t wait til Steve and Kayla reunite! Best acting partnership on daytime.

Side Note: I think soaps could improve viewership if they try the t.v. show Scandal approach to interacting with fans via twitter when the shows are airing.

Awesome, can’t wait til Steve/Kayla reunite!! They are my very first couple I fell in love with on soaps. My 80 year old mom still has a mad crush on Patchman and she aint happy about Dimples..lol..Appreciate them and Ron for taking the time to interact and share great information about what to expect coming back. Going to be different, you can see where acting and actor connection is going to be key in stories going forward because the days of sex scenes, kissing, etc are gone for at least the foreseeable future.

Stayla finally!!!!!! I was born after their initial story took place but, fell in the love with them when I started watching around 2016..they have so much chemistry between them & seem to have a natural flow as if they are truly married. I went back & watched all these old videos they are referencing in this combo & fell more in love with them. Amazing that their chemistry is still so strong after 30+ yrs! Stephen Nichols this year has been AMAZING!! He is showing what a leading man is in daytime tv with this full range on display.… Read more »

Fans of this show should be grateful to have two good actors and a head writer that engages their fans. Many aren’t this fortunate. I have my issues w/the story arc because I thought it was disrespectful to the fan bases of two 30+ year super couples. But, I have appreciation for the actors & their efforts. I will always support this acting partnership because they are so talented that they can still do any story type & have some of the most amazing chemistry even after 30+ years. Writers should make the Johnson’s a lead family going forward..bring back… Read more »

I so agree about them being without offspring… with Kayla and Patch talent

I’m hoping one of the rumour is true… that it’s Tripp who could be the father of Allie !!!!

I LOVED Kayla chemistry with Tripp. let him finish medical school and COME HOME.

Enjoyed the videos and really appreciate when actors/writers take time to do things like this. RC opened my eyes when he talked about the writing pace as well, I may not be as quick to complain about it was much anymore…Mary Beth Evans and Stephen Nichols are probably two of the most caring people in daytime. Their appreciation for the fans is so amazing. Most importantly, they are such great actors and compliment each other so well, I think that’s why they stay so popular. I’m glad writers put Steve and Kayla back together; hope we get to see more… Read more »

These videos have been so entertaining! It’s easy to see the chemistry and connection between the two actors. Just watched the forth installment and the chemistry is off the charts between these two 30+ years later and what is such a testament to them is the breaks they have had in that time. Mary Beth talked about the trust between the actors and that is very apparent. They have stayed so popular with viewers because of that one of a kind chemistry paired w/outstanding acting abilities of the two. Its a shame writers haven’t capitalized more. Thanks again for Ron… Read more »

What a great informative video series. Never been a fan of RCs because his over top love of camp but have different view & respect of him now. As for MBE & SN there are just fabulous together!! Loved their funny reviews of previous reunions & love scenes. You can’t help but be pulled in each time they are on screen together.. pure magic.

I can’t say enough good things about the acting partnership of Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans. By themselves they are amazing, but paired together it’s in another world amazing. Having a friendship that is clearly based on trust/respect paired with an out of this world chemistry makes for effortless tv. Whenever, you watch once of their scenes it flows naturally and never seems forced. Hope Ron continues to right good things for them, none of this over the top stop, they have proven continually they can deliver the drama/angst/romance to daytime.

I just rewatched the airport & hotel episodes & these two are amazing together. Enjoyed the you tube videos with Ron too. You could tell his love of the genre. As for SN & MBE there aren’t enough words to describe them as people. It’s my perception that because of same values they have & their friendship it truly adds to the natural chemistry between the two & it comes across on screen.

Days of our Lives Renewed for Two More Seasons on Peacock

Days of our Lives, which transitioned last fall from NBC to the streamer, Peacock has received a two-season renewal pick-up.  That will bring DAYS through its 60th anniversary season.

Already hitting several milestones within its run including; it’s 14,000th episode back in 2020, and being the longest-running series in NBC history to move to Peacock, the lives, romance, intrigue, and drama will continue for the residents of Salem for at least two more years.

According to Peacock PR, DAYS has consistently been a top 10 title since its exclusive move to the platform last year.

Head Writer Ron Carlivati on Bo & Hope Return: “This Is Old School Days of our Lives, and It’s Something That The Audience Has Waited a Very, Very Long Time to See”

Next week, begins the continuation of the shocking story arc that started last summer on Peacock’s limited streaming series, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem Chapter 2.

In it, DAYS fans learned that Bo (Peter Reckell) has been kept in cryogenic cylinder for years, and was brought back to life by Stefano’s daughter, Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson).

Now, circle March 16th for Reckell’s first episode back as Bo and March 17th as Kristian Alfonso’s first episode back as Hope to the mothership and Days of our Lives.

Head writer, Ron Carlivati previewed the storyline in a new interview with Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue on newsstands now.

Carlivati shared: “We pick up Hope where we left her off.  She had gone though this whole experience with Harris Michaels (Steve Burton), finding out that he was in league with Megan Hathaway, and we ended her on ‘Beyond Salem’ like, ‘I have to bring Megan Hathaway to justice.  I have to find her and make her pay.”‘

While Hope is on mission, she will also have Harris Michaels back in the mix, and as the head scribe shares, “Hope is on a collision course with Bo, and she’s unaware of it.”

As to what lies ahead for viewers, Ron revealed: “This is old-school Days of our Lives, and it’s something that the audience has waited a very, very long time to see.  You won’t want to miss it.”

Check out Peacock’s promo for the return of Bo and Hope below which teases that while most people get over their high school sweethearts, this one never did, alluding to Megan’s past relationship with Bo, which is the impetus for her revenge plot.

Now let us know, are you looking forward to seeing how Bo and Hope’s enduring love story continues? Comment below.

Days Of Our Lives

Steve Burton Watches Back An Early Scene as Harris Michaels From 1988 & Talks on His Return to DAYS

As previously reported, look for two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Steve Burton (ex-Jason, GH, ex-Dylan, Y&R) to reprise his role as Harris Michaels in an upcoming story arc on Days of our Lives beginning on March 20th.

While Burton started his soap opera career on DAYS back in 1988, he didn’t return to the part of Harris Michaels until last year’s limited series streaming on Peacock, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem 2.

Now heading back to the mothership for the first time in almost three and half decades, Burton sat down with his former GH co-star and current DAYS castmate, Wally Kurth (Ned, GH and Justin, DAYS) in a conversation for the DAYS You Tube Channel.

During the chat, Wally showed Steve an early scene of his with none other than Charlotte Ross, who at the time played Eve Donovan.  Make sure to check out Steve’s reaction to his younger soap opera self.

Then, Burton shares the reason the believes Harris is coming back to Salem: “For redemption because of the bad things he did; he wants to make it right.”

Photo: Peacock

What fans recall from Beyond Salem 2, is that Harris was seemingly brainwashed by Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson), who was hoping he would pull the trigger on Hope (Kristian Alfonso) at their wedding.  Instead, it appeared that Hope and Harris developed feelings for each other, or did they?

Now, with the return of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope along with Harris in the equation, is the story to bring down Megan Hathaway once and for all? Stay tuned.

Check out the Burton and Kurth conversation below.  Then let us know if you think Harris will help Hope and Bo bring down Megan via the comment section.
