DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Abigail Reveals Gwen’s Deception at her Wedding to Xander, But Gwen Drops A Bombshell

Look like Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) finally got what’s coming to her, or at least for now.  On Thursday’s episode of Days of our Lives it was wedding couple number two who took front and center stage.

Now, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Gwen were ready to start their nuptials, following the disaster of the first couple’s attempt at tying the knot (Leo and Craig) and that coming apart at the seams.

Photo: JPI

However, this wedding was not meant to be either, thanks to Abigail (Marci Miller) having the ammo (thank to a plea deal for Ava Vitali) to bring Gwen’s heinous plot out in the open, publicly.  That included: Gwen’s plans to nab Xander for herself and keep his true love, Sarah, away from him by any means possible as all was revealed to the groom and Gwen’s father, Jack (Matthew Ashford).  From kidnapping, drugging Sarah, wearing masks, being an accomplice to Kristen DiMera’s (Stacy Haiduk) schemes etc, etc, Abigail had the quite the dirt on her half-sister.

In the end, Xander walks out on Gwen, Jack practically disowns her, Abigail and Jennifer stand by and take Gwen’s insults knowing they have finally one-upped her, and Gwen is in a puddle of tears in her wedding dress.

Just then, Gwen gets one more visitor, Rafe (Galen Gering)! He comes to cuff-her and bring her down to the police station for her crimes.  Before she leaves, she angrily gets close to Abigail and whispers in her ear that she purposely killed her grandmother! That means that Gwen killed Laura Horton in cold blood.  What will Abigail do with his information?

Emily O’ Brien has been consistently knocking it out of the park playing all the levels of Gwen, while Marci Miller was fierce with her controlled and contained payback after all Gwen has put Abigail through. Perhaps, there is yet another knock-down drag-out fight to go down between the two in the near future?  Stay tuned.

So, what did you think of Abigail’s comeuppance of Gwen for her crimes? Are you happy Xander walked out on her? What do you think will happen next involving the information on Gwen murdering Laura Horton? Comment below.

I knew that Gwen killed Laura all along. Guess I should expect her arrival in Hell by the end of the month??

Yes, Satan—please let us know as soon as she walks through the flames LOL
I still feel sorry for Gwen—such a screwed-up mind. Shall we blame it on her childhood? Her mother? Not having a role model??
Now, there’s Leo. He’s just a buffoon who cracks me up. —I’m sort of indifferent towards him because he is of no consequence, regardless his threat to Chad and Sonny—-or is he?? “Apres moi , le deluge”– after me, the storm.

Leo’s OK for comic relief in limited doses. Can’t imagine how he would ever translate to a long term serious character though. I think they missed an opportunity for a serious story about Craig coming out later in life, by tying him to Leo and the double-wedding disaster that inevitably followed for both Leo and his “bestie” Gwen.

Great episodes and I always knew she killed Laura intentionally.

GUT ME !!! cut me to the core.. ^^^ “… she angrily gets close to Abigail and whispers in her ear that she purposely killed her grandmother! ”

OMG… exhale exclamation… you have it

How my beloved laura Horton was murdered !!! Gwen has crashed… oh she thought she could RUN w/Xander bootylicious she wanted the whole PIECE of cake and eat it too

Xander – WOW leading man believe… am not in to Sarah acting out tragic or otherwise.. just dumbed down for naught? Am still loving my Linsey

sensations any one

Gwen and Abigail are the two sisters from hell. They are like Warner Brothers stars Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in their prime or real life sisters Olivia De Havilland and Joan Fontaine who truly detested each other. Hope the rumors that Marci Miller is leaving is not true because the Gwen – Abigail feud with poor Jack caught in the middle is legendary and could power this soap for decades.

I loved these scenes but would have enjoyed seeing Abby a bit more emotional. I’ve hated Gwen from day one, so I hope she gets everything she deserves. Jack is the one I feel sorry for. He tried so hard to love and forgive Gwen mostly from all the guilt she piled on him. As for what she said to Abigail on leaving. It might or might not be true. Didnt we see those scenes? She may just be taunting Abigail as a final jab. Nothing can be proven by a whisper in someone’s ear as an admission of guilt. After all the other crap we’ve seen lately, we finally got a worthwhile show.

I think Gwen got what was coming to her she caused the whole problem

Poor Xander. Now go join sweet Maggie at Sarah’s side.

Xander and Maggie , have “wonderful” touching moments… Xander actually “adores” maggie… whilst she is in a rapturous state of being…. perhaps, no? who wouldn’t not see themselves luring Xander… “come hither” ANYWAY

i’m all for Gwen taking the fall…. sacrificial… if this lets Ava off the hook, thereby Ava pleads a deal, and Gwentakes the blame, as this appears to be the case.

I am anxiously waiting a Sarah / Xander reunion…. AND waiting still, for a Brady/Kristen reunion…. Chloe belongs with Rex !!!! oh he’s another one. so many keepers on this show

no reason to focus on the devil made me do it… JEEPERS just thinking about @DAYS beyond Salem… When Peter Reckel and Kristian Alfonso REUNITE !!!!!! JEEPERS

Giddy

IMO Gwen did not kill Laura on purpose. She only said that to ruffle Abigail’s feathers. I watched it and all Gwen did was grab Laura’s arm and Laura pulled away and fell.It was an accident.

Didn’t Abigail look pretty in her LBD? I hate seeing her in her many “granny” dresses.

Loved these episodes. I actually love Gwen and Xander together. I couldn’t stand Xander with Sarah, I had to FF through them every time they were together. I think they were the worst couple in Days history. I think Gwen and Abigail have great chemistry together as feuding sisters. I would love to see more of them going at it. I hope the powers that be end up having Gwen and Xander get back together. I can’t get enough of them.

Although I hate Gwen I can’t stand Sarah either. Xander and her romance could have really been great if they hadn’t had Linsey Godfrey/Sarah acting like a loony twit most of the time. I was glad to see the last of her. She played a very good part on B&B but her goofiness in this part was just too much.

‘Heated Rivalry’ Star Franco LoPresti Opens Up About ‘Days of our Lives’ Debut as Dante Vitali

Next week on Monday, September 14 will mark the first appearance in Salem of Franco LoPresti in his new Days of our Lives role of Dante Vitali.

Heated Rivalry fans now LoPresti very well from his part as hockey player Cliff Marleau in the series first season. (No word yet if Cliff appears in season 2).

Now in a conversation with TV Insider, DAYS fans will learn that LoPresti is on the soap for a limited run. No timetable was given.

When LoPresti does burst onto the scene come Monday, Dante makes quite the impact as Franco LoPresti explains. It seems that viewers will first see him in scenes in Monte Carlo at a poker table with none other than Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier).  However, Dante will come to Salem to talk to the Brady family about his supposed fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney).

Franco shared, “Dante was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school. He then went on to build his own dynasty in finance, all the while trying to distance himself from the Vitali name (as viewers know Tamara Braun played his cousin Ava Vitali).”

“But at the core of Dante, there’s definitely an old-school quality to him”, continued LoPresti. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate. Loyalty is something that means a lot to him. As Dante enters Salem, I think the audience will get to slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him. So, I’m excited for Days fans to go on that ride with Dante.”

As it turns out, LoPresti taped his episodes of DAYS starting back in November 2025 which happened to be weeks before Heated Rivalry became a smash hit.

Franco recalled, “It’s so funny because I thought my episodes would air in a month (on Days of our Lives). But I found out it was nine to 10 months and I was like, ‘I gotta wait that long?!’ So, I’ve been biting my nails, trying not to think about it, and I think it’s actually kind of helped because now it’s here and it’s all coming at me from all different angles. I’m nervous. I’m excited, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had for sure.”

In his personal life, Franco just had his first child with wife, actress Emily Alatalo, just a weeks ago on August 23rd when they welcomed their daughter, Stella into the world.

So, looking forward to seeing Franco LoPresti’s debut come Monday? What do you think about the fact that it’s being reported as a limited run? Do you think Dante and Sami have a chance on-screen or off-screen to be a happy couple? What do you really think brings Dante to Salem sans Sami? ‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writers Give Fall 2026 Preview: Marlena and Stefano’s Chess Mystery, The Arrivals of Dante and Sydney, Romance Drama for Sarah and Others

Chad and Belle

As summer comes to a close with Labor Day weekend, the former Days of our Lives co-head writing duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have given their annual fall season preview in episodes taped some 10-11 months ago.

As previously reported this past July, Ryan Quan returned to Days of our Lives and is now co-head writing the show with Ford, while Cwikly is now a consultant. The new co-head writing teams stories will not be seen till late spring/early summer 2027.

So for now, the stories pick up from where we left off with Cwikly and Ford promising via TV Insider, “Fall in Salem is full of twists and turns and secrets and surprises. Dots connect in unexpected ways as seemingly unrelated threads converge.”

CHECKMATE?

In one of the top mystery’s, Marlena is still having troubling memories and she will have another one on the Monday, September 7 episode. Meanwhile, her daughter Belle (Martha Madison) has gotten very close to Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and as pictured here, the two smooch while in Italy searching for answers to the chess set that Stefano DiMera gifted th the late John Black and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that has some significance.

The head scribes share, “The (chess board) mystery and its fallout are central to the fall stories. Chad and Belle follow the clues to a discovery that changes both of their families, and Salem, forever. Marlena worries that their investigation/the chess set may be a Pandora’s box that has been opened. And she is right…”

Newcomers are also the order of the day for Cwikly and Ford, this fall. We have already seen the debut as Brandon Butler as Mason Whitfield, and next week you can add as previously reported Sydney Malakeh on the Thursday September 1o episode as Sydney DiMera, followed by the the Monday, September 14 arrival of Franco LoPresti as Dante Vitali.

Paula and Jeanne Marie expressed on the incoming Dante, “The arrival of a stranger who will set the whole town on its ear. The character has several strong ties to the current canvas and impacts many storylines.” What will Dante be up to? We know Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) had mentioned in 2025 she got engaged to the man, but that was off-screen.

LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH OR THE ONE YOU WANT?

In the romance department, the triangle between Brady/Sarah/Xander heats up with a very conflicted Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The head writers reveal, “When Sarah faces attacks personally and professionally, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) work together to help and protect her. Sarah’s new love for Brady is challenged by her lingering love for Xander. Xander risks everything for Sarah.”

In addition look for, “Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoiser) to draw closer as he tries to save the family company and home.”

Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) will also be returning at some point this fall and she won’t be alone. Who might she bring with her? And from the looks of the Peacock promo for next week’s DAYS, someone is wearing Stefano’s ring around their finger, but who … and how does it all tie in this fall?

So, what do you think about some of the highlights coming up this fall on Days of our Lives per the series head writers? Does anything float your boat or pique your interest? If so, what? Let us know via the comment section. But first, check out the action next week on DAYS in the promo entitled “Bag of Tricks” below.
