THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Sharon Finds Out Rey is Dead in Heartbreaking Performance from Sharon Case

Photo: JPI

Thursday’s episode of Y&R, brought with it reactions to the news of death of Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) by many key Genoa City residents, but most importantly his wife, Sharon (Sharon Case).  While fans have been vocal on social media that Rey was killed-off camera, and the exit of Daytime Emmy-winner, Jordi Vilasuso, the soap still managed to bring us some riveting moments from the cast within the storyline.

Throughout the hour, Sharon looks quite upset, but trying to keep it all in check, as if she knows what’s about to happen, and certainly after she hears about the accident that Victoria was involved in.

Before Sharon finds out Rey has died, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is told by Ashland (Robert Newman) while she is suffering from injuries sustained in the car crash.  She demands Ashland take her to Rey, and that is death is all her fault.  Ashland tells Victoria what he saw since he was in the car behind her. He tells her she swerved to avoid hitting Rey’s oncoming car, and crashed into a tree. Victoria thanks Ashland for saving her life.

Back at Crimson Lights, and to wrap-up whatever story could have been brewing between Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Rey, Sharon calls Chelsea out on her attraction and the connection she has to her husband.   She suggests that Chelsea is happy to have a night with Rey and Connor.  Chelsea says she knows Rey is married to her, but that Rey is a terrific man. The two, in the calmest manner possible, say that they appreciate the others honesty and that’s as far as it goes.

Meanwhile, Chance (Conner Floyd) gets a call from the police department about the three-car accident and heads out of Crimson Light where he was hanging out with Connor and Chelsea.  Elsewhere, Nick (Joshua Morrow), who has left Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) to find Victoria, calls Victor from the crash site. He informs his parents that there is no sign of Victoria, or Ashland, but that Rey Rosales was involved in the accident and is dead.

Victor and Nikki head out to find Victoria and Ashland and find them in the deserted shed near the accident. Victor looks not too happy that Ashland was the one who saved Victoria’s life.  Chance is at the crash scene and in discussion with Nick, and they decide that Nick should be the one that tells Sharon the tragic news about Rey, not a police officer she doesn’t know.

At the end of the episode, Nick walks in to Crimson Lights, and Sharon already knows in her gut that Rey is dead, but she gets so upset that she begins to just talk non-stop about Rey.  As she starts to break down, she tells Nick that before she tells her that what happened, she just needs a minute, Finally, Nick reveals to Sharon that Rey has died.  Next, Sharon crumbles into Nick’s arms as she sobs uncontrollably that Rey is gone.  It was a gut-wrenching performance from longtime Y&R all-star, Sharon Case.

Watch the final moments where Nick tells Sharon about Rey below in two clips.

Sorry to be a downer but I found the crying really “actory” and fake. Didn’t care for the scene. But then, to be fair, I am bitter over losing Jordi Vilasuso — who apparently DIED OFF SCREEN. Unbelievable.

Hollyoaksboi…There is sobbing, or crying. I think Sharon did a little of both, but caught herself to show some sort of control and having to be strong for everyone. And babble talking. Like wanting to talk to Mariah about planning her wedding in the middle of Rey dying. I just don’t think she has really allowed herself to show how she is really feeling…devastated.
But I’m really upset about how they treated Rey the character, and that Jordi is gone. To the point his funeral might be in Miami.
Also I think the actor playing Ashland is doing his best acting surrounding the accident since taking over this role.

I agree, Rose. Robert and Amelia have finally figured out their scenes together. And I always loved Jordi as Tony on GL, and was super excited for him to be on Y and R, though the writers butchered the entire Rosales family unfortunately. They had so much potential!

Why was He taken off the Show. Jordin Vilasuso,I am very Upset.

No o think her performance was great sad to say to many people really go throw this and it breaks my heart

Very moving scene. Sharon Case brought it!

I figured if they killed Rey off Sharon Case would have some major scenes to play and we know she’s up for it, starting with this scene when Nick told her.

But I am fed-up that they let Jordi V. go. I’ve not heard anything about what their rationale was for making this decision – we do sometimes hear a “reason” – but this makes no sense in my opinion and I just don’t understand it. Loved him.

It was heartbreaking, even if I never liked Rey or the actor.

This was a great scene and great acting today. Rey was not a good character he was very wooden and brought nothing to the show . Keep the veteran actors front and centre . Imagine this scene with old Young and the Restless music . The old music brings so much to this show. I don’t understand how the TPTB don’t get it . Or maybe they do ? Does playing the old background music cost more ? When Lynn Marie Latham was there, the background music was good , as well as Maria Arena Bell . Once Jill Pharen Phelps came onboard the show lost its heart and soul. Jill Pharen Phelps almost killed this show , then Chuck Pratt made it laughable , and the Next regime stripped the show of most of the remaining quality .

Yes. George. The music score is sooo important to add depth. The last several years background musics been frankly embarrassing for this show. Also how poor is the show that there’s only 4 sets in rotation for several weeks at a time? I think the problem may be the vet actors take up to much budget. I feel it’s time Eric, Melody and Peter go on recurring possibly like Lauren does inwhich they are on often enough to back up stories but aren’t the prime focus. I d rather newer fresher character get stories but ones still tied to the core families. It’s clear y n r s become too cash strapped.

George Wilks,
Sorry to disagree with you but Jordi is a great actor. I’ve seen him on numerous shows and if he was wooden to you, it’s probably the way he was directed in the scenes. I don’t think the actors, except for old Victor are given Carte Blanche, they have to follow a script, no matter how bad it is. Sorry you don’t have the old music that you seem to dwell on and find so important to the show. I liked the old stuff too. Did you watch ATWT? That organ music at the beginning gave me chills every day for years, I never got sick of it.

Agree Violet
Rey was sooo good opposite his brother Arturo and ex Mia. Once he was left as Sharon’s prop he was only as good as the very poor writing

Call me crazy—it wouldn’t be the first time—but, I called Ashland’s fake illness almost as soon as the character was introduced.
Now, the accident and Ray’s death—( great acting by Ms Case, BTW)–
What if Ashland planned the “accident”? Sadly, Ray was not part of the plan–hopefully, Chance will do a thorough investigation, and voila’—Ashland finally kicked to the curb by Victoria!!

Hi CELIA! Two things: first, thanks for the good chuckle about Chance conducting a thorough investigation. Unless it’s involving the hair care aisle at Wal-Mart, I can’t picture him doing anything thoroughly. He sure is cute, though. Next, I had some misgivings about this illness of Ashland’s but I was assuaged when they CHEATED and showed scenes of him grabbing his chest, etc., when no one else was present, indicating it was genuine. Plays like bait & switch to me. So what’s next? Looks like Chelsea and Chance are hitting it off AGAIN, now dragging in Conner as the bait. Nick and Sharon AGAIN? OK but let it last a while! At least we’ve had a break from Devon this week. Oh…what if Lola returns for Rey’s funeral at the same time as Kyle’s return? Hmm….

Chance—what can I say?? He’s just there. Glad you “got” my satire—now, he’s the only cop in GC. I’m sure he’ll get to the bottom of this accident which I believe was no accident. He will work so diligently–
I’m not into his hair. It looks matted and infantile. If you ask me, he and Abby act more like mother and son than husband and wife—
As far as Sharon and Nick—I’ve been waiting for years for them to be a couple again.
I was still in grade school when their little romance “bloomed”—I was enchanted and Nick was so hot—
I was so young, Soaphound, and infatuated with my future husband, who considered me an annoying pest!! I used to fantasize whenever Nick and Sharon had a scene together, pretend and dream away…..
Chance and Chelsea? I hope not—can’t stand her. Never did.
Then there’s Victoria and Ashland—I’m so confused. What are the writers doing? Are they entertaining a “remake”?

Celia, your infatuation sounds sweet and refreshingly old-fashioned to me. And fantasies? I can’t even start on mine when Billy Miller was Billy Abbott. And yes, it did continue as Drew Cain. The guy just pushes my buttons, like Jeremy Renner and Mark Wahlberg on big screens. I really like Noah, too, but he might be a tad young for me. Not that I’d refuse…

Oh, Souphound—you always manage to make my day!! Believe me–Billy Miller is second on my list. The number one spot is reserved for my gorgeous hubby!!
He still manages to make my heart skip a beat after almost fourteen years of marriage.
I agree, Noah is cute—do not cut yourself short—as you can see from these soaps, age means nothing. In my mind’s eye, you are one beautiful woman!! Yeah!!
And, yes—I am sort of old-fashioned, I guess.
Did you watch Y&R in the mid to late 90’s? Nick and Sharon were THE “thing”. I think Case won for best young actress award, or something…if I am not mistaken.
Well, Nick was IT for me. He is still hot, in my opinion.

Thanks, Celia. Noah is a dreamboat, alright. I just wish he’d get a decent story. I loved the five measly minutes when he agreed to work with uncle Adam. They pulled that plug fast enough! Why…too much heat? Yes, I’ve watched the Shick pairing for decades and love when they’re together. Especially the cat claws with Miss Nikki Newman. The last go round, Nick lured Sharon into a daytime bath…his hair was longer then, the way I prefer, and I swear my television was about to overheat. Josh is 48 this year and just keeps getting better…in every way. I remember when Sharon won her Emmy back in 1999. IMO, she deserves a lot more than one, and as LEAD actress, not supporting. Maybe this year?

SC and JM are magic on screen together even when it’s not romantic. You can tell how much these two actors care about one another as Co workers as it comes across in every scene.

I never cared for Rey or the Rosales family. Much of it was how they were introduced into the show and the fact that it came at the expense of veteran characters having meaty story. Rey’s presence essentially removed Paul from the canvas, which was made even stranger by other characters mentioning him by name but viewers never seeing him.

However, there was lots of potential recently with Rey and Chelsea growing closer, which would inevitably create drama and include Sharon, Nick and potentially Adam and Sally in the story as well. Going this route with Rey closes the door on the Rosales family seemingly for good.

As for the way Rey died, I have a feeling Ashland played a major part in the “accident.” Maybe he rigged Victoria’s car to crash? I just can’t see it being blamed on the fog and no other explanation. Why was Ashland even on the road that night? And how will this impact his relationship with Victoria going forward?

She is always supportive of her fellow actors her kind words to Jordi if JG had invested in this couple but he doesn’t but that’s another story but the end game has always been her and JM and the moving thing is they know what the other one is thinking and it’s awesome to watch

Sharon Case and Josh Morrow together are everything! These two belong together. Sharon sensing something wrong and just rambling to delay Nick telling her was sooo gutwrenching!
Kudos to these two soulful actors. Kudos also to Amelia and Robert Newman in their scenes in the cabin.
However the complete disrespectful way the show rid of Rey was just nasty. No last scenes with Sharon really. No playing out the Chelsea angle to really put some serious rift between her and Sharon. How great would be a kiss been in Chicago and a fight between Sharon and Rey or Rey telling Chelsea his insecurities with Sharon and Nick ? We got weeks of lead up to Diane’s return in that empty home in L.a which led to Jordi getting the budget cut axe but we could nt get one week of last scene lead ups for this story?! Further all the Rosalles have been horribly fired and had no real closures longer than a day or two. Josh keeps scrambling for ‘ bigger name ‘ returns that let’s been honest go nowhere! Michelle Staffords huge return as Phyllis. Two years now…

I wish Josh Morrow would stop his shoulder-rolling thing and take his hands out of his pockets. Or at least pull something interesting out of his pockets. Like maybe some acting tips from Robert Newman, who is blowing me away with the mediocre material he was handed.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties

On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.

The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.

When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Photo: ABC

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.

When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

Photo: ABC

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

Photo: ABC

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Photo: ABC

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Photo: ABC

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.

Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers

Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.

In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.

Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Courtesy/ABC

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work.  Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her.  Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.

From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy.  Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Courtesy/ABC

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

The episode and these scenes featured great performances by Cynthia Watros and Maura West. You can check some of the scenes below.

Now, let us know, what is Ava’s next move? Is she going to become Mrs. Sonny Corinthos? Do you like Ava and Nina as enemies? Comment below.

AEW Dynasty: Swerve Strickland Becomes AEW World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Perry Returns, Will Ospreay Retires Move After Scary Finish

There is no doubt now, who’s house it is in AEW? It’s “Swerve’s House” after his strong showing on Sunday nights AEW Dynasty pay-per-view. In the main event, Swerve Strickland captured the AEW World Heavyweight Championship defeating Samoa Joe in a career-defining moment.

Strickland becomes the first ever Black AEW World Heavyweight Champion in the organizations history.  And it was not loss on Strickland, who spoke about it in the post-Dynasty media scrum, but also knew the moment was upon him from the moment he was going to make his ring entrance in front of a sold-out crowd in St. Louis and those watching around the world on cable outlets or via Bleacher Report.

Swerve Strickland ring entrance showed that he was dressed to impress, in a mask and black and gold spandex attire. As fans caught on , Swerve was paying tribute to the character of Kilmonger, the antagonist of 2018’s Black Panther film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that was not all, Prince Nana, Strickland’s manager/sidekick covered Strickland with a robe that belonged to Jimmy Rave. Rave was part of Ring of Honor during the company’s early days and was part of Nana’s stable The Embassy. He has three shots at the ROH title but never won the big prize.

Photo: AEW

AEW Dynasty had three major matches back-to-back to conclude the three hours show.  Strickland in the main event defeating Samoa Joe, and before that The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) for the AEW World Tag Team Championships in a brutal ladder match.

Courtesy/AEW

In the deciding moment of the match after Harwood goes to climb up the ladder to reach  for the titles, a masked man runs in and knocks over the ladder. It’s revealed to be none other than the previously suspended, Jack Perry (son of the late 90210 star, Luke Perry). Perry throws up the Elite symbol as security escorts him away. Nicholas Jackson looks pleased by the interference and uses it to take advantage and climb the ladder to get control of the title belts and The Young Bucks become the new AEW tag champs, once again.

The most highly-anticipated match of the night was between two of the greatest wrestlers to ever do it – Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay and after more than a half-hour of back and forth with high flying moves, technical precision and punches and kicks, Ospreay was able to get the pin, but unfortunately in the last few minutes of the match, Danielson went down after Ospreay delivered the Storm Driver ’91 move. Next, the referee called for medical to check out Danielson, while Will was unaware of that and continued to finish the match.

Photo: AEW

At the post-Dynasty media scrum, an upset Ospreay began by addressing reporters and sharing, “I’m super glad that everybody enjoyed the match. A little bit of a dampener on how it’s all kind of the dust has settled now. I’ve reviewed the footage myself. Seeing Bryan got hurt on the Storm Driver, and I didn’t see the referee call for the doctor and I didn’t see it. So I want to apologize on that.So even though like 90% of the time that moves been absolutely fine, seeing the damage that it’s kind of done, I’m going to retire using the Storm Driver ’91. I don’t think it’s right for me to continue using it after seeing what it did to Bryan, someone that I’ve got huge amounts of respect for, this was kind of my dream match. This is something I’ve wanted since I was a kid. Although I’m happy when everyone enjoyed the match, I’m kind of disappointed in myself. So once again, I apologize to Bryan probably apologize to AEW medics, I apologize to Tony (Khan, CEO/GM AEW).

In one of the best matches in the card, and in the opening bout, for the AEW Continental Championship Match, “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada defeated “The Bastard” PAC to retain his title. Meanwhile, Willow Nightingale became the Women’s TBS Champion defeating Julia Hart, only to have Mercedes Mone come to the ring to challenge Willow at Double or Nothing in Vegas at the end of May.

So, what do you think of Swerve Strickland becoming AEW World Champ? Jack Perry’s return? Will Ospreay’s match-up with Bryan Danielson and its ending? Let us know in the comment section below.
