DAYS Al Calderon Teases Javi’s Love Story and Shares It’s About, “Two People Living Their Lives Authentically and Unapologetically”
The arrival of Days of our Lives newest character is about to show up at Gabi’s (Cherie Jimenez) front door when on the Monday October 28th viewers will get their first glimpses of Al Calderon in the role of Javi Hernandez.
In story, Javi is the cousin of Gabi and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). As we have previously reported when Calderon was cast in the role over nine months ago, he has quite the voice in fact he appeared in the reality-singing competition the X Factor and recently appeared in Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie on FX.
Javi comes to Salem mourning the death of his mother, and views Gabi is like his big sister. Speaking with TV Insider on his arrival Calderon expressed, “He’s ready to start over. I connected to that, too. My mom passed away in 2020 and she was my best friend in the world. Living in L.A. really helped my healing journey. It’s not necessarily running away from your trauma, it’s just a change of scenery that helps you push through that grief, and for Javi, what better way to do it with someone that’s like your big sister.”

However, someone is Salem is about to get a new boyfriend. Calderon teases a major love story is on the way for Javi’s future. Is Javi the new man for Leo (Greg Rikaart), or someone else?
Al shared, “The crux and core of any relationship, straight, gay, anything in between, is love and respect and care and kindness. And I think the writers did a really great job of creating a genuine love story that isn’t pander-y, but two people living their lives authentically and unapologetically.”
Taking on a gay character on the soaps and its representation, is not lost on Calderon, “It’s a big responsibility but I feel honored to be able to be a part of something that might change someone’s perspective.”

No, I do not approve of such characters, God did not make man for man and women for women. I will stop watching days of our lives. As I pray that many of its fans will.
Yeah, that’s right! You tell’em YEEEHAAAW!
That’s why I don’t watch days too much of the same thing
let go back how it was .
We’re not going back.
So do you stop living real life also because their are gay people? ♀️
You’re right! Some people are so uptight about gays that they can hardly live in this world. Unbelievable!
Sure Jan…
Save your fake prayers and shove em up your ass you hypocrite bigot hiding behind religion! Stop using ‘ God’ to excuse your prejudices. If you were truly ‘ religious’ you would practice compassion and inclusion to all God’s beings. You’re sad and miserable. Furthermore don’t waste your ‘ prayers’ on others to also stop watching Days to go along with your pathetic protests.
As a gay male myself I will ‘ pray’ that you wake up one day and use your so ‘ called ‘beliefs’ in a more positive way than spewing hate
Good for you! I absolutely love your reply! You are so right. Some people really are idiots and closed minded as the man who doesn’t like gay people…
Good job…gotta hate haters…I’m a straight older woman but I adore n respect my gay nephews etc…
Please show us where Jesus condemned gays.
Are you a newer viewer? DAYS has had gay characters for over a decade. Sounds like you are just making a comment and don’t actually watch the show.
Hope you enjoy 1950’s sitcoms and westerns cause modern tv is representative of society and we’re not going back.
David…you sound very, very homophobic!!!!! So take BOTH you and your disgusting and homophobic views and just go far, far, away…PERIOD!!!!!
You talk about God ? Because you go by what the Bible says ? Sweetie , God did not write the Bible….MEN wrote the Bible so are we to believe that “someone heard something from someone that heard it from someone else that in turn swears by what someone else told them and on and on and onnnnn. It’s same drum beat with yous….go watch something else
It’s also based on bible translations after 1946 – far from true “biblical times”.
Gays of our lives sucks. Make days of our lives great again!
Go to he** satan…where yu blong…love Days
I’m already in Hell. And why are you adressing your reply to me here??
Amen!!!!
Here’s what my Former Employer made, according to the book that you claim He wrote Himself….
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle. And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants. – 1 Samuel 18
So that’s David – your namesake. The boy who was really lucky with a slingshot, and eventually went on to be my Former Employer’s chosen king of Israel. And that description sure looks like a “gay wedding” to me.
To be fair though, David wasn’t totally gay. He banged Saul’s daughters too.
There has already been 2 other couples that were in a man and man and a woman and woman relationship on Days of Our Lives. So, I assume you just recently started watching? There was Chanel and Johnny’s twin, who’s name escapes me, and there was Leo and Craig Weasley. So, you haven’t watched long, so no great loss, right?! Have a great straight life…lol…you must be a strict person. lol..lol..to each their own. As you should say, but you don’t take your own advice.
I would like to see Leo with someone and if it gives him scenes with Rafe and Gabi; who is my favorite character, then I am all for it.
Looking forward to Javi Hernandez and his character scenes with Gabi and Jada and Rafe
He seems a little young for Leo in my opinion and Leo is to cartoony we need a serious gay relationship again like will and sonny!
I do not like the new Gabi. I have tried to warm up to her, but I can’t. I wish she and Javi would leave.

‘Heated Rivalry’ Star Franco LoPresti Opens Up About ‘Days of our Lives’ Debut as Dante Vitali

Next week on Monday, September 14 will mark the first appearance in Salem of Franco LoPresti in his new Days of our Lives role of Dante Vitali.
Heated Rivalry fans now LoPresti very well from his part as hockey player Cliff Marleau in the series first season. (No word yet if Cliff appears in season 2).
Now in a conversation with TV Insider, DAYS fans will learn that LoPresti is on the soap for a limited run. No timetable was given.

Photo: Corday Productions, Inc
When LoPresti does burst onto the scene come Monday, Dante makes quite the impact as Franco LoPresti explains. It seems that viewers will first see him in scenes in Monte Carlo at a poker table with none other than Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier). However, Dante will come to Salem to talk to the Brady family about his supposed fiancée Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney).
Franco shared, “Dante was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school. He then went on to build his own dynasty in finance, all the while trying to distance himself from the Vitali name (as viewers know Tamara Braun played his cousin Ava Vitali).”
“But at the core of Dante, there’s definitely an old-school quality to him”, continued LoPresti. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate. Loyalty is something that means a lot to him. As Dante enters Salem, I think the audience will get to slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him. So, I’m excited for Days fans to go on that ride with Dante.”

As it turns out, LoPresti taped his episodes of DAYS starting back in November 2025 which happened to be weeks before Heated Rivalry became a smash hit.
Franco recalled, “It’s so funny because I thought my episodes would air in a month (on Days of our Lives). But I found out it was nine to 10 months and I was like, ‘I gotta wait that long?!’ So, I’ve been biting my nails, trying not to think about it, and I think it’s actually kind of helped because now it’s here and it’s all coming at me from all different angles. I’m nervous. I’m excited, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had for sure.”
In his personal life, Franco just had his first child with wife, actress Emily Alatalo, just a weeks ago on August 23rd when they welcomed their daughter, Stella into the world.
So, looking forward to seeing Franco LoPresti’s debut come Monday? What do you think about the fact that it’s being reported as a limited run? Do you think Dante and Sami have a chance on-screen or off-screen to be a happy couple? What do you really think brings Dante to Salem sans Sami? ‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writers Give Fall 2026 Preview: Marlena and Stefano’s Chess Mystery, The Arrivals of Dante and Sydney, Romance Drama for Sarah and Others

As summer comes to a close with Labor Day weekend, the former Days of our Lives co-head writing duo of Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford have given their annual fall season preview in episodes taped some 10-11 months ago.
As previously reported this past July, Ryan Quan returned to Days of our Lives and is now co-head writing the show with Ford, while Cwikly is now a consultant. The new co-head writing teams stories will not be seen till late spring/early summer 2027.
So for now, the stories pick up from where we left off with Cwikly and Ford promising via TV Insider, “Fall in Salem is full of twists and turns and secrets and surprises. Dots connect in unexpected ways as seemingly unrelated threads converge.”

CHECKMATE?
In one of the top mystery’s, Marlena is still having troubling memories and she will have another one on the Monday, September 7 episode. Meanwhile, her daughter Belle (Martha Madison) has gotten very close to Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) and as pictured here, the two smooch while in Italy searching for answers to the chess set that Stefano DiMera gifted th the late John Black and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that has some significance.
The head scribes share, “The (chess board) mystery and its fallout are central to the fall stories. Chad and Belle follow the clues to a discovery that changes both of their families, and Salem, forever. Marlena worries that their investigation/the chess set may be a Pandora’s box that has been opened. And she is right…”
Newcomers are also the order of the day for Cwikly and Ford, this fall. We have already seen the debut as Brandon Butler as Mason Whitfield, and next week you can add as previously reported Sydney Malakeh on the Thursday September 1o episode as Sydney DiMera, followed by the the Monday, September 14 arrival of Franco LoPresti as Dante Vitali.

Photo: Corday Productions
Paula and Jeanne Marie expressed on the incoming Dante, “The arrival of a stranger who will set the whole town on its ear. The character has several strong ties to the current canvas and impacts many storylines.” What will Dante be up to? We know Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) had mentioned in 2025 she got engaged to the man, but that was off-screen.
LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH OR THE ONE YOU WANT?
In the romance department, the triangle between Brady/Sarah/Xander heats up with a very conflicted Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The head writers reveal, “When Sarah faces attacks personally and professionally, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) work together to help and protect her. Sarah’s new love for Brady is challenged by her lingering love for Xander. Xander risks everything for Sarah.”
In addition look for, “Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoiser) to draw closer as he tries to save the family company and home.”
Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) will also be returning at some point this fall and she won’t be alone. Who might she bring with her? And from the looks of the Peacock promo for next week’s DAYS, someone is wearing Stefano’s ring around their finger, but who … and how does it all tie in this fall?
So, what do you think about some of the highlights coming up this fall on Days of our Lives per the series head writers? Does anything float your boat or pique your interest? If so, what? Let us know via the comment section. But first, check out the action next week on DAYS in the promo entitled “Bag of Tricks” below.
