Days Of Our Lives
DAYS OF OUR LIVES: “As The Teeth Fly”
Friday’s episode of the weeklong wedding event of DAYS supercouple John and Marlena brought with it an oh-so-perfect nod to the show’s history, high camp, drama, outstanding performances, and a major cliffhanger! What more could any soap fan ask for, right?
We pick up with Sami (Alison Sweeney) who has crashed Jarlena’s nuptials, and seemingly drugged out, telling her mother, Marlena (Deidre Hall) that she cannot marry John (Drake Hogestyn). Meanwhile, Susan (Stacy Haiduk) reaches into her purse and viewers see she has a gun! Sami can barely speak, but warns Marlena if she marries John, she is going to die. In a haze, Sami says she figured out ‘her’ plan, but that “she” got a way. An upset and desperate, Sami goes through each row of guests looking for the culprit she is speaking of! When she sees Susan, she screams out: “It’s you. You are not going to get away with it.”
Next, Susan and Sami struggle as Marlena yells that she invited Susan to the wedding and for Sami to leave her alone. However, Sami declares that the woman she is calling “Susan” isn’t Susan! To prove her point, Sami tears off Susan’s wig in a struggle, and it is revealed that it’s Kristen DiMera!

Next, in a throwback and nod to the Days of our Lives classic, Kristen and John wedding of the 90’s, Sami hits Kristen in the face and her fake teeth fly across the Horton Town Square and into Marlena’s bouquet. Marlena is shocked and grossed out. However, now Kristen grabs her gun and reveals her plans! Steve (Stephen Nichols) tries to come at her, but backs off when Kirsten retorts: “Easy, Cyclops.” She tells Marlena that she survived Marlena “pushing her” out of that tower window a few years ago, and that now she is at the nuptials for payback as she aims the gun at the good doc. Kristen adds that Marlena she is the worst excuse for a human being.
Next, Kristen’s former love, Brady (Eric Martsolf) steps forward trying to reason with Kristen to put the gun down. Now, doing a little reverse psychology on her (maybe he learned that from Marlena) he tells his ex-lover that he knows she’s just trying to love herself. Kristen briefly shows some emotion. but toughens right backup after talking about the child she should have had with Brady blaming Theresa (Jen Lilley).

Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Brady make their move and grab Kristen, but as they do the gun is tossed to Sami! Now Kristen wants Sami to kill John. She even brings up the conference room table sexcapade between Marlena and John, which Sami held against John all those years. But that doesn’t shake Sami, and nothing does until Kristen reveals that EJ is alive. Kristen announces that she will gladly take Sami to EJ; all she has to do is shoot John. Shocked, confused. and not knowing what to do, Sami has the gun pointed in John’s direction, as Eric tries to grab the gun from her … a shot is fired!
Away from the wedding, there is also major drama going down. Will (Chandler Massey), who is in tears in the park remembering his wedding day to Sonny… and finally having a major breakthrough with his long bout of amnesia … is found by Sonny (Freddie Smith). They go to Doug’s Place to help Will calm down. Sonny knows Will all too well and knows something is bothering him. Will reveals he remembered their wedding. Tears well up in Sonny’s eyes as he begs Will to remember more. Will is seemingly afraid to, and says he just recalls fragments from his past. He says he has to get back to the wedding because his grandmother is getting married, and he is in love with Paul (Christopher Sean). Then, Sonny says he was robbed of their past and so was Will, and for him to please stop running from it.

All of a sudden; a floodgate of memories come to Will. He remembers that Marlena was his grandmother, not a woman he just met a few months ago. He remembers his love for Sonny. He remembers his grandmother, Caroline’s speech at their nuptials. Will then says he remembers coming out, and always wanting his parents to be together, not divorced. Then to cap it off, Will remembers the birth of his daughter, Arianna, and how he held her for the first time, and he remembers his love for his mother, Sami. He even remembers Nick Fallon causing him so much trouble. Finally, he remembers kissing Sonny at their wedding, and now in the present; the two longtime loves finally move in for a kiss.
Once again this episode featured heart-tugging performances by Chandler Masssey and Freddie Smith, and special nods to Stacy Haiduk and Alison Sweeney, who made all of the “crazy” of this episode so soapalicous good. Finally, kudos to head writer Ron Carlivati for delivering another memorable episode and a week’s worth of fun that only he could construct.
So, what did you think of Friday’s episode of DAYS? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
DAYS is on fire – it’s the only soap I look forward to watching daily (and I’ve tried them all). Ron – keep doing what your doing — I’m hooked!!!
I have been Watching Days since 1964 snd love every achor and actress. Each person has a role to play, and every body on Days should receive
The Academy Award. They all work so well together that even I consider myself to be part of
The Family. With all the shows and talent with other TV Stories, Days is the is best and the only show I will continue to watch
Love love love it.
I’m glad John and Marlena are getting married again, and finally, Brady is interacting with his parents! It’s impossible for me to appreciate fully the nod to Jarlena’s history without Eileen Davidson portraying the roles she made iconic though. I cannot say that I enjoyed the episode or that I am clamoring to see what will happen on the show any time soon, sadly. If anything, it just deepened my feeling that Days is fundamentally missing something when Eileen Davidson is not a part of the show.
I thought the episode was great but I agree about Eileen. She is, and always will be, Kristen & Susan [& Thomas & Penelope & Sr Mary Moira]. I consider this new one FauxKristen & FauxSusan & hope that in the future, it will turn out that this really wasn’t them but some other wacko pretending to be them. Iconic characters shouldn’t be replaced by other actors. She’s one of a kind, just like Marlena, Sami and John. Having said that, I think Ron & the cast really knocked it out of the ballpark.
LET JONH AND MARLENE GET MARRIED THEY DESERVE IT THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH TOO MUCH AND PLEASE PUT CHAD AND ABBY BACK TOGETHER AND YOUR SHOULD HAVE KEPT NICK ON THE SHOW FOR THE BACK STABBING FRIEND GABI
Wow… it was a great episode! Bravo.. The actress who plays Kristen.. bravo also.
Wow DAYS is on fire, hopefully the ratings keep going up. I really like Stacy as Kristen and Susan Banks. Kristen is mean mean mean lol.
Stacy Haiduk was hilarious as Susan, she is a wonderful actress. DOOL is getting really good now, I have been watching DOOL for almost 34 years, and I am enjoying the storylines right now. They need to bring back Louise Sorel again as Vivian Alamain, I miss her so much.
I’am sure Ms. Sorel will be back one of these days. Don’t forget someone brought her back, after Kate shot her, when she sat up , and said YOU!
I have been watching Days since I came to Australia in 1975 its the best i even got foxtell to watch it
Awesome
It was a good laugh when the teeth flew across to Marlenas bouquet and Sami was great
Too bad Marlena didnt have her mouth open and those teeth flew right in perfectly and stuck-lol
I felt it wasnt even a soap opera with Will remembering. I cried right along with him. Now the other “drama” going on. That is DOOL good stuff.
Yes i like days of our lives
I have been a Days fan since 1992. I love the throwback and this week was amazing. I loved the humor and witty writing. I was sceptical of the Kristen recant, but I think Stacy is a talented actress and fans will love her as Kristen
Friday’s episode of Days was pure soap perfection, from beginning to end! I don’t think a soap has been this good since Days was when it had ED’s Kristen, sami and eJ were all on!
Well done. Clasic soap story. Tears with Will and Sonny. They belong together. Loads of laughter over thre teeth.
Days is truly on fire right now! I dont’ think it’s been this good since 1998!
It was great. I was surprised when Kristen was revealed. Loved the teeth landing in Marlena’s bouquet. Ha Ha Flashback!
Can’t wait for more.
Ok, so, I am totally confused…I missed two eps and by doing do, I missed A LOT!!
Susan and Kristin are both in Salem? At the same time? Mamma mia!!
I need to watch those missed eps…
I’d like to address Kristen calling Sammy and E.J soulmates. To me that’s so far from the truth. Sure there was a lot of romance and family drama, but there was also a lot of lies, deception and disloyalties, on both sides. Now take John and Marlena, Steve and Sweetness, Julie and Doug, Jack and Jennifer, Maggie and Mickey. They were and are soulmates. Personally I could care less if E.J ever comes back, and although Belle was really over the top, telling Sammy what a terrible person and sister she is, I agree that she’s more than a little right.
Stacy Haiduk – “Standing Ovation ” what a coop to watch this woman’ work. as soon as I saw her as Susan… DELIVERY. comedic turn after turn… with all the tragic beats
as Kristen … there’s an assured quality their with “her” presence. BLOWS me away with how on top @DAYS continues… Stacy Haiduk came in and nailed her performance. WOW
in the same breath it has to be mentioned… there is no one… like Eileen Davidson… GOD , how I love her. it is with awe, respect, and admiration that I tip my hat to Ms. Haiduk. GEEZ … tour de force
having seen her reel… and when you have this high drama .. and she’s on top. she kinda reminds me of Dr. Laura Horton… all that presence brimming stewing and wielding all this
WOW – I read your story in the latest SOD issue…. know about your emmy nominated performance @Y&R. you just crossed the line in to the fine art of acting .. it’s your own show
ps: Drake Hogestyn ( John Black ) : LAUD HIM AGAIN. As he’s tormented over his doc… his scenes today 8/29… with daughter Belle. he stirs… sat here crying
I am SOOOO Happy for Freddie Smith’ Performance !!!!! you need that dance partner to show up… he is being so effective… all the give and take – FINALLY – paying OFF … just have to plug FS Sonny for being there… for – HIS – husband. what a year this has been… ie: Chandler Massey returned this time last year… so to watch this all play out… ON MY DAYS. stunning. you’d never believe how bad GH has been with the return of Jason.. and Drew still not having his memories returned… GH is in shambles. alas, to savor @DAYS… spectacle of dream.. I truly believe @DAYS has their ready arsenol for emmy reel BEST SHOW.
Carlivati at his best! Hopefully the shows will work out their Emmy squabble so DAYS can come collect them all!
Love Days keep up the good work. I love Stacy too. Days is the best show on tv. Very exciting to watch.
