Days Of Our Lives
‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem Chapter Two’: Did Megan’s Hunt for the Three Prisms Bring Back the ‘Love of Her Life’?
In the final episode of Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem Chapter Two we were left with a chilly cliffhanger, and we will get to that in a moment.
However for starters, the fifth installment gave several members in the ensemble cast some heart-tugging and emotional moments including: Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Victoria Konefal (Ciara), Steve Burton (Harris), and Christopher Sean (Paul).
In story, a doctor and nurse are talking about a cryogenic capsule with the DiMera Enterprises label on it. The doctor shares that when Megan (Miranda Wilson) has all three prisms, they should be able to bring the patient back to life. The nurse has concerns over the patients brain tumor in the capsule. The doctor explains the prisms collectively will help treat ‘him’. We were to believe, at first, this was Stefano? But, clearly it has to be Bo (Peter Reckell)!

Meanwhile, Megan is in Montreal, having revealed herself to Hope! She tells Harris to grab the prism out of Hope’s cleavage. After he does what he is told, she then tells Harris to shoot Hope! He pulls the gun on Hope. Now, Harris is welling up with tears. Does he love Hope Williams Brady, like, for real? Next thing you know, he passes out and Megan takes off.
Harris, who has now been arrested, gets a visitor, and it’s none other than Hope. She wants him to sign divorce papers, while he gets emotional. He apologizes to Hope, saying Megan ordered him to kill her, but that he did not want to. Hope is not buying it and furious that Harris kidnapped Steve (Stephen Nichols) and John (Drake Hogestyn) and John is MIA. Harris says he thinks Megan did something to change him and that he wasn’t always like this. Hope says she will speak to the ISA and Shane Donovan on his behalf and heads out.
At the gala in Hong Kong, Wendy (Victoria Grace) is held captive by a trance-like John and Steve. Li (Remington Hoffman) then gives John the prism. Joey (Tanner Stine) and Tripp (Lucas Adams) manage to out maneuver Steve as Li holds the gun on him. However, John has taken off. Later, Marlena (Deidre Hall) injects a captured Steve to try to get him ready for some hypnosis to undo his brainwashing as Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) looks on.

Now in Caracas, John shows up at Megan’s with the prism. She adds the prism to the other two to make it perfect, and to enable her to help revive the cryogenic patient. Just then, Andrew (Colton Little) and Paul bust in with guns in tow. Megan directs John to kill them. Next, comes a showdown between Paul and John as Paul tries to talk John into remembering him, and the father/son relationship they have. It begins to work on John, but as he is starting to remember, Megan fills the room with gas and escapes with the three prisms wearing a gas mask. Later, after Andrew and Paul wake up, and make sure each other is O.K., they check on John who is now back to his normal self.

On the docks, Hope says a final farewell to Ciara and Ben (Rob Scott Wilson). Before they part ways, Hope hears, “Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You” playing from the boat. It brings her to tears, and to flashbacks of her time dancing in heaven with Bo.
Elsewhere, Andrew comes to say goodbye to Paul before he heads back from San Francisco to D.C. The two share a passionate kiss.

In heaven, Angela (Loretta Devine) has some unbelievable news for Bo! Because he gave his ‘second chance’ to Hope, he is going to get a ‘second, second chance’. Bo does not know exactly what that means! But we do, right?
As Beyond Salem Chapter Two comes to its conclusion, Megan is with the doctor next to the cryogenic chamber frustrated that even with all three prisms they haven’t worked yet. The doctors tells her the body inside has been in this state for years and that she needs to be patient. It is then, Megan reveals that she has been patient for forty years and she wants to be reunited with the love of her life. After everyone has left the room, the cryogenic chamber door opens. We see what appears to be an alive Bo Brady! Did the prisms and Megan’s plan resurrect him … or will that be short-lived? Credits roll . .. and this edition of ‘Beyond Salem’ leaves us with a major heart-stopping cliffhanger!
So, what did you think of episode five of ‘Beyond Salem: Chapter Two’? Do you think the plan is for Peter Reckell to return as an alive Bo on the mothership, or in the next iteration of ‘Beyond Salem’ … or is it all a big red-herring? Share your theories in the comment section.
But first, cast your vote in our latest Michael Fairman TV poll and let us know what you thought of ‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem 2″!
Season 1 was much better than season 2.
on the plus side I loved Paul and Andrew, they had great chemistry, and all of the new cast members were excellent. We also get Bo and Hope alive but that is only worthwhile if they come back for more in the future.
on the negative side was the storytelling – blech! Here we go again with the campy and/or sci-fi writing with implausible plots and long dead characters ): The pacing was often off – it definitely wasn’t as well directed as season 1.
I wish this format could be used for our long lost New York based soaps. 10 episodes of say Dorian and Victoria from OLTL, or Reva and her bud from GL, or CarJack from ATWT, or Delia and a new generation of Ryan’s from RH, or the Rachel Cory and co. from AW, or The Doctors, The Edge of Night, Loving, Brooke from AMC… in my dreams!!!! (and can I please be part of it all too!) (:
Richard, I just want to say I enjoy reading your assessment of Beyond Salem as well as your wish list! I might have missed details of your experience. I believe you are a director. Did you direct soaps? Do you mind expanding on that for me and others who may not know? Thank you.
I loved every minute of this! It brought back emotions and memories when Bo and Hope were dancing in heaven to their song! But the best moment is when Hope was saying goodbye to her daughter on the pier, and she remembered dancing in heaven with Bo, when she was told she wouldnt remember that. Her face said it all!!! Acting at its best!! I love Hope and Bo! Days of our Lives, how great thou art!!!!
Utah, absolutely great commentary on the romance, memories, and acting! What a nice tribute!
I enjoy good soap opera storylines, even science fiction ones. But, if there’s a Season 3, I’m hoping the powers that be at Beyond Salem bring a little bit of old-fashioned romance with a nod to the history of Days of our Lives.
I can see Doug and Julie in Paris. They are being watched by a mysterious woman. When Doug is alone at a cafe, this woman turns out to be Susan Martin from decades ago. When Julie arrives at the scene, will Julie and Susan’s animosity toward each other continue or will they let bygones be bygones?
This would reunite characters from Days’ past. (Remember: If it weren’t for Susan and her bank account years ago, Doug may have never come to Salem and met Julie.) Plus, it would be great to see legendary iconic daytime actors (Denise Alexander, Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes) reunite for an older audience like myself.
BaxterM, I love your storyline idea for Doug, Julie, and Susan. To have Denise Alexander return to DOOL in any capacity would be astounding! I’m part of that older audience who watched Denise Alexander from the moment she joined GH, but, from soap opera magazines, I was also familiar with her popularity from her previous role on DOOL.
James75
Iam probably older than you and yes they are fond memories. I remember Julie as a spoiled teenager and we see Denise Alexander every once in a while on GH as Laura Spencer’s mom, I’ve been enjoying Beyond Salem, hope there is a 3rd season, too many questions left unanswered.
So happy to receive your reply, Violet. It must have been amazing to have seen Julie as a teenager. I give major kudos to DOOL that even today they feature Susan Seaforth Hayes and give her meaty material, too, which she can still handle quite well!
Jame75
Didn’t realize while I was watching this lovely young girl that I’d still be watching her at 79yrs.old and 89 myself, but now thinking back, she must have been in her twenties playing a much younger girl.
Seaforth Hayes may not know you, but she is lucky to have you as a loyal viewer. And we’re lucky to have you here as an online friend. Continued health and happiness to you, Violet.
Help me understand what’s happening because Megan said she’d been waiting for 40 years and if she’s referring to Stefano, he hasn’t been gone 40 years, so who has she been waitng for? Even if it is Bo, it still doesn’t make sense, age wise. Where Satan when we need him??
Yes, Megan is talking about Bo. She has been in love with him since high school, where they apparently dated (never seen on camera, but this was “official” backstory when Megan was around in the 80s.)
So she’s not saying that Bo has been dead for 40 years… only that she’s been waiting that long for him. The hot tub electrocution accident which killed Megan & sent her to Hell was actually meant for Hope to get her out of the way…. but it went “wrong” (at least from Megan’s perspective)
Satan
Thanks for the info. I must not have been watching at that time. Don’t remember Megan at all.
