Hold on to your seats! Grab the hankies! Get ready for the mystery, passion, and intrigue, and three generations of familial drama!
Days of our Lives is ushering in the beginning of their 50th anniversary storylines with a new promo that is one of the best produced that we have seen in many years that captures the essence of what DAYS fans fell in love with for decades of the long-running NBC soap opera!
Already fans and pundits are commenting on social media, as we are, that this feels like a primetime promo for a daytime series! There is so much to catch and you need to play back multiple times!
But here’s a few things we noticed: Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) captive and in dire straits, the return of Jason Cook as Shawn-Douglas Brady, Sami (Alison Sweeney) being what looks to be kidnapped by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis), A bloody Ben (Rob Scott Wilson) who has gotten into an altercation or something even worse, a upset Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) who looks to have had his proposal turned down by Hope. And the whole prom ends with DAYS icon Hope (Kristian Alfonso) saying, “I’m excited for what the future is going to bring!”

DAYS serial killer storyline kicks off today on the Thursday August 27th episode, and that mystery will continue well through the anniversary with many stories that will spin off and continue through the new year, and many iconic characters and returns starting on Friday when Stephen Nichols returns as Patch!
Watch the emotional and thrilling DAYS 50 preview promo after the jump! Then, let us know what was your favorite moment from it? What clip got you most intrigued and excited? Comment below!
It has been a long time since I have been this excited about watching the show. Just this week, the pace is incredible and the dialogue is much better. I LOVE how the show sees that using the vets (Maggie, Victor, Caroline, Julie, Doug, Kayla, Hope) in the hospital scene. It appears that most of the storylines that have not worked are being dumped. I hope the show does not waste the returns of Bo and Steve. The main issue I see facing the writers is making the villians more multi-dimensional (Theresa, Eve, Anne). I am ready to see Theresa have some layers and that underneath all of that nastiness is a likeable character. I believe Eve will ultimately be responsible for Paige’s death by telling on JJ being a nark. I am hoping this will allow her to see the errors in her ways and realize she MUST take responsibility of her actions (for once). The scenes of Jennifer and Eve are already starting to be boring because if you dislike someone so bad, don’t you usually stay away from him/her? It is so exciting to see Hope as the main star again. Kristian Alfonso is incredible!
I was getting the feeling that the show was ending. I am so glad that it is not and I too, enjoy the veterans of the show. I just love bio and I miss him. I love the old will as well and I miss him too.
Love your post, Ray. I do agree how the vets fi into the storylines so naturally; how the use of aging and the fragility of life gives the viewer pause and emotion. We never stop to think, in youth, how fickle and volatile life can be.
I do wish Ben would just man up and stop manipulating Abby. It doesn’t seem as if he does, but, he is becoming a mastermind as his father. Do not like Ben. I wish he had left instead of Jordan…..who, by the way, was supposed to have been recast? Did I hear that wrong?
And, yes. “we’re on the EVE of destruction”…sorry, Ray; could not resist. She’s always on a diabolical roll. Too bad; I don’t relish losing Kassie. She’s such a challenging actress. So, Eve’s misdeeds can only lead to Kassie’s exit.
Fit
This promo brings , tears, joy and happiness to my heart. #Days watcher with my mom since 1970. The tradition continues, I have a grandson named BO 😀 There is no show to ever top this one EVER! I’m so excited to see the cast reunite. Thank you
A one-minute promo that has done more for me where Days of Our Lives is concerned than the past two years of the soap’s broadcast has done. You can already see the revitalized changes that have come with the veterans returning and the new writing regime of Dena Higley and Josh Griffith! Plus, it’s very nice seeing the lighting go back to a warmer tone, instead of the pinkish tone it took sometime in late 2013/early 2014. This is a soap opera worth rooting for, and a soap opera worth celebrating!! This fall and next year is going to be fantastic! Here is to the next 50 years!
Yeah I noticed that about the lighting also, it is so much nicer these days and is more flattering for the show.
I am thinking they are doing a different lighting because it does make the veteran characters look younger.
I look to Days for action/adventure, mystery danger romance high stakes and mystery so this looks great.!Days of our Lives and General Hospital have always run like sister shows from my point of view due to the elements stated above. I can’t help but to hope general hospital is moving back to its 80’s roots to reclaim the essence that made it transcend. Well done DAYS. I’M EXCITED
Didn’t Days try this already in 2011? I hope 2015 is more successful than 2011.
Well I have to admit, as boring as the show has been lately and as much as I’ve used the fast forward button over the past two years… This promo brought tears to my eyes.
And it sounds weird but just hearing SGB’s voice again, even if it was just her crazy scream made me so happy.
Great job on that promo, it was beautifully done. Hope the show lives up to it.
I LOVE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK-
I have an announcement-
I tuned into DOOL.. A trial run ..
I am lost and confused, but I am a seasoned soap watcher I’m sure I will pick up, someday..
So far..
the woman in bed with the beaten up lawyer man, I don’t like her ..
I do like the older grandpa guy.
The 2 gay guys seem cool
I’m checking it out ..
((GH is my luv my #1 soap)
Just curious but why don’t you like hope? She is the one in bed with the beaten up guy.
Stay with it! It will be worth your time. Plus, this anniversary run should be great viewing 🙂 Before you know it, you’ll be “hooked” like me.
Hi.. Love my DOOL
She/Hope was very overbearing.. She was near integrating the poor lawyer guy and she acted as if she owned him, demanding she was .. lol
Of course– it was 1st impression, I have to give it time to get know the characters..
I might become fond of her/Hope..
Hi mollie..
yes, I’m gonna hang in ..! 🙂 no doubt to be hooked, also..
Su, are you bitching and complaining, perchance? How do you expect to know anything about DOOL and its characters if you do not watch? C’mon, su. You berate everyone who even dares to comment negatively about GH, but here you are stepping on poor Hope. Su, su, su….
What two gay guys, su? There are more than 2 on this show. But, they have names….not 2 gay guys…LOL…just teasing, su. Days is GREAT!!!!!!
now now Cee..

0ooh more than 2 gay guys you tell..
wonder if they are bad or good guys, I need time .. I wish, some are bad boys!

@su.
It is impossible not to like you , su. Believe me, I trust everything you say when it comes to GH. Except for Sonny. LOL.
I’m glad you got my sarcasm about bitching….I am your greatest fan, su.
DOOL is an aqua red taste. I never really got into it until seven years ago. But, the soap has always been popular in my Gran’s house growing up. My mother was always too busy to watch soaps.
Welcome to DOOL. you will love it. By the way, Hope is a cop and has been on the show since she was a teen. Check her out. She has been to hell and back. It will be worth your time, my friend.
I’m so thrilled that Days is returning to what made the show special an that is love, family romance ,drama and adventure. It’s going to be so good and I can’t wait I’m so excited for it all to start thank you, thank you
Best. Promo. Ever. I’ve been waiting and waiting for DOOL to take over the soap media so that I no longer have to listen to spoiled “retiring” actors and controversy due to HW firings. Daytime needs some good news, and this promo is just what the doctor ordered. As a fan of old-school DOOL, this promo has a lot of what I’ve missed for so long. I’ve started watching again after six months of apathy and I like what I see. Now with this promo and Mr. Patch Johnson returning to Salem tomorrow, I have even more reason to watch. I hope DOOL will deliver the goods the way this promo hints they will. I’m so psyched for romance and suspense with characters I love and recognize.
I love Days. It has become a part of my every day life. I am so excited to see what’s to come.
Golly I have been begging for the romance, danger, intrigue, family values to return to Salem for years and now it looks as though Dena, Josh and writing team are doing just that. This past week has been the best I have seen in a very long time. And now with Bo, Andre, Steve returning and our favs John and Marlena being reunited I am beyond excited. Without naming names I am sure happy to see some of the characters, not necessarily the actors, leaving salem. The prior writing team did their best to bring Salem to a grinding halt but now I see hope, I see a new beginning in Salem
Excited about DAYS again, love the promo, this was a great soap and it can be great again! My hopes are high for the 50th. Today’s episode was outstanding! New writers have made such a difference! Can’t wait to see Patch tomorrow!
I just got chills.
I am excited, but cynic that I am has to wonder if this will last past the 50th or are they setting up for Days to go out on with a bang? Let’s hope this all translates into ratings and the suits realize the only thing that was ever wrong with Days was neglect.
Oh wow this seriously gave me shivers! They are doing such a great job for the anniversary and I really hope they can keep this up forever.
And wow Bo looks so damn hot there, he still has such an incredible body. He reminded me of the Hulk there on the table lol. I really hope he is back for good.
I. am. here. for all of this! Finally, the gods blessed us with real soap. I can’t watch GH anymore so Days and Bold are it for me this fall.
So excited! It looks like it’s going to be quite s ride! (loved seeing Sami and André the most, but I’m looking forward to all the returns)
Who is Aiden working for…Billie or Carly…could Megan Hathaway still be alive somehow and trying to keep Bo and Hope apart or even Larry???
I cannot wait. I have been watching for all those 50 years. Lots of history with various characters and storylines. My fav soap of all time. Let’s roll.
i’m crying now
what a beautiful promo
OUR DAYS are
Daniel Cosgrove is so handsome
I’m going to miss him
what if he is undercover… working with John ; ISA ?
dang it tho… Peter Reckell looks good too
I noticed there is minus romance in the hard hitting promo drama that all are loving to pieces..
couples are boring… action drama is what most like and want..
the praise of the promos hard drama shows that ..
What? It opens with John and Marlena in a romantic setting. It features supercouples kissing and saying “I love you” repeatedly throughout… yes, there is drama but there’s plenty of romance, too. I think viewers want both action and romance (and family, too).
No worries, sonniorsolita. Unless it is GH, su will find the most minute spec on which to carp.
I actually find GH lovers disgusting….Alexis and Julian ….Ava and babyMorgan….Dante and Valeie…ahhh, lest I forget, Sonny and Carly…..anyone else?
So, I parrot your words, my friend.
hi sonniorsolita..
0ooh I am an action high drama intrigue lover!
Couples love stuff bores me to nood.. they just have love gone wrong problems, same kind of yawns and break up, and then rotate and get back together.. lol nothing exciting with that stuff.
Anyways, I just started to watch… it looks good, so far..
That special logo! NBC invested 5 whole minutes in it!
At least the show is hanging on!
“… only – ONE – Days of OUR Lives”
heart pulling
disbelief
ALL ON
That was some promo! I have actually begun watching again and really enjoyed what I have seen so far. Keep up the great work!
the clip was to fast half of it i couldnt catch fast enough ugh
“I may as well have been blubbering”
this is in regard to MF; asking, our opinion of the first 3 days of DAYS
and it was all due to this past FRIDAY’ ep: Victor, Maggie, and Caroline
the ex-lover, new lover, and best man
“magical”
Caroline to Victor: “you are a big softy at heart”
Maggie to Victor: “she’s the mother of your son, your dear friend”
Caroline to Maggie: “I’m so glad Victor, found you”
Victor to Maggie : “there’s no one, no one, in the world I love more”
scene fades with Maggie and Caroline hugging it out
I love these three.
Marlena and John: RICH history and more beloved than even I realize
when Marlena let John down softly… that he wouldn’t be waking up the following morning with her… but John… “promised” that he will be doing everything in his power… to make up for all his past actions
Hope and Aiden: it’s stunning to witness Hope… following her heart… and responding to Aiden. the comfort of watching Hope in love, with another man… is staggering… as some posts have said… Daniel Cosgrove is such a charmer! his easy going manner… with those “magnificent eyes” don’t let up
these troopers are just the surface.. and not any less than… when the whole cast is featured!
Andre Dimera kidnaps Sami? Now that should prove very interesting.
My favorite moment from the clip was seeing Julie hit someone over the head with something. Clip went so fast I couldn’t tell who she clobbered but it looked like Ben. Didn’t like seeing Marlena get attacked.. Hope she is alright! Looked like Hope was a target too, but Hope can fight! Like seeing Hope take care of herself! She must get it from Julie! Looks to be an exciting Fall in Salem! Happy for everyone on the show. (Just don’t mess with Marlena!)
LOL
what a fun, FUN, fun, post
ladies bar none
Julie
Marlena
Hope
i’ve just gotta prop Suzanne Rogers’ “my” mother Horton… Maggie
she acts with such ease… not too much not less than… just on par… meeting her mark… and carrying “with”
I adore her and Victor
parts of the promo blipped by… and I didn’t catch who Julie clobbered… but it made me laugh
If you are saying Suzanne Rogers gets far too little praise for her work, I agree 100%! Maggie is often taken for granted, but if she was not there the show would not be the same!
I saw Maggie in the scene where Julie hit somebody (Ben?) over the head. Couldn’t make out what she was doing, but glad she was there. Otherwise Julie might kill someone!
Hi Patrick,
Upon pausing while playing a few times, I’m sure it’s Hope’s bachelorette party where we see Julie bust a champagne bottle over a stripper’s head. He would have to be a stripper because the only men that go to bachelorette parties are strippers.
It must be for Hope because she is the center of attention. They are drinking champagne, presents are visible in the background and the most telling of all is:
Hope is wearing the same ring that Aiden shows her earlier when he asks her to marry him!!!!!
I love this promo, it gives me hope for the show and leaves me on pins and needles. I love that Bo is returning home and I love that he and Hope is kicking a**. It looks like she stabs the serial killer or someone posing as the serial killer. I love the supercouples, the vets, Chabby, and Andre. Most of all I love when the Brady’s kick a** and the romance is the icing on the cake.
The past week plus of shows with Higley at the helm so far has been an over-rated letdown for me. The scenes are slow moving, and mostly featuring characters I don’t care about. Maybe I blinked and missed it, but I did not see a single gay character in any of those preview clips, so I guess what the fans were saying about Higley is true. She’s whitewashing Salem and de-gaying it. What a shame. It’s the gay storylines that got the show all the critical acclaim it has received over the past several years. All this talk about making DAYS great again, sounds about as ridiculous as Trump saying he can make America great again. DAYS and America have both been great to me all along. In fact, many aspects of DAYS have been GREATER since Higley’s last reign of terror.
Sorry fans, you all may be drinking the Kool-Aid, but this longtime DAYS fan is NOT. Higley destroyed Salem before and she probably will again.
“… It’s the gay storylines that got the show all the critical acclaim it has received over the past several years. ”
here, here
I’m soapboxing this with
I don’t think Higley would whitewash or de-gay this epic. I certainly hope not
it does cross my mind… that all that accolade has since gone by the way side since Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith, are no longer with? and it’s not my opinion that it should be left by the wayside… I love this story… bunches and bunches
Guy Wilson does not have all the arsenal in his acting chops to be relied on. it’s Christopher Sean’ Paul that should be forefronted. marquee and feature this man.
Amen to putting Paul Narita front and center. Christopher Sean has done an amazing job with every scene partner he’s been up against. From the other gay characters to the seasoned divas Kate and Marlena. Heck, he has singlehandly made the virtually unwatchable Drake Hogestyn WATCHABLE in their scenes together. Great chemistry there, and since Sonny hit the road… these Paul/John father/son bonding scenes have been the most nuanced and interesting of ANYTHING written by HigFith.
I too feel that the gay characters have really more than been placed on a “back burner”. Will is now reduced to listening to Abigail’s problems, and with Derrick and Paul out of the picture I don’t know where else the remaining characters can go. Why couldn’t they develop a story for Derrick? He seems to be a capable albeit somewhat unseasoned actor. I don’t see what’s so great about the actor who plays Ben (Abigail’s love interest) – I don’t have anything against him but he’s not the most interesting actor to watch. Of course, they always go back to the endless triangle of Nicole, Eric and Daniel – they are fine in the acting department but honestly, enough is enough already.
I don’t think the current writing team, competent though they may be, give a darn about the gay characters, that’s the overall feeling that I get.
JD, I’m here to set the record straight (no pun intended) that this longtime fan is loving the improved DAYS…It’s improved not only by Dena Higley, but by Josh Griffith also!
Dena and Josh did not do away with the gay storyline. How can the storyline continue when Freddie Smith chose to leave? They don’t want to recast right away because they realize most viewers aren’t accepting Guy Wilson as Will. They have to deal with Will/Guy before moving on with a Sonny recast. They still have Paul. I believe they should focus on Paul and his newfound family and go from there.
Dena Higley knows the history of DAYS and Josh Griffith has wanted to write for DAYS since he’s been a fan. They are doing an excellent job so far.
It’s hard to get excited when I’m worried Will Horton has been put on the back burner. I started watching in the 80s, so the vets are nice, but Will is a main character, a Horton & a Brady, born on screen to Sami & Lucas. He’s important and deserves a good storyline instead of being a supporting character.
I like the character “Will” but he’s been front burner for years now. A little break isn’t a bad thing. With Sami coming back I’m sure he will be a big part of her return. Love me some Lumi!
Looks Fantastic! Take note GH, this is what will bring viewers back!
HI, I AM SO HAPPY WITH DENA AND HER PARTNER FIXING UP DAYS, BUT NOT HAPPY THEY SHOVED ADIEN UNDER THE BUS, TO BRING BACK BO DON’T GET ME WRONG I LOVE BO FROM DAY ONE HE WAS MY MAN CRUSH, MAYBE STILL, HE LEFT DAYS HE WASN’T HAPPY. THAT’S OK SOME TIMES WE ALL NEED A BREAK, KNOW ANDRE, PLEASE LORD !! WHY COULD’T IT BE TONY AND ANNA BACK !!! ANY WAY I HOPE DOC DON’T GET KILLED OFF KILL CLYDE AND BEN OFF ………..
I really enjoy Chad and Abigail together, , they could easily be the next E J and Sammie,
keeping the DeMeira family going , Ben is much to boring for the new dynamics you guys are bringing to the show….and we already know who the real father is,,.
YES, YES, YES, Lynda…..so glad I’m not the only one who loves these two together. Much, much more than Ben and Abby. He cannot act; he brings no spark to the relationship. Abby is not a fave of mine, but, with Chad, she comes to life. Yes, we know who the daddy is…..I hope the baby inherits Chad’s gorgeous eyes.
Now, of course he will be arrested for Serena’s murder. Perhaps, it’s a good thing. Every diabolical misdeed Clyde has done will unfold through an investigation; the result bringing Chad and Abby together.
The promo is just the beginning of a series of promos of which will convince soap viewers to come home. DAYS should not be taken for granted!
For those who have never watched DAYS, now is the time to tune in!!!!!
What will happen to the gay characters? No mention of them here.
Good question, Wayne. With Sonny gone, I can only hope Paul will stick around to shine his gorgeous self on us….and, his smile. But, whatever TPTB do, please do not pair him with Will. How can either Sonny or Paul ever trust him again…. Or anyone else, for that matter. Ugh!! Let’s hope Will leaves, Sonny comes back and he and Paul can live happily ever after. Too good to be true for a soap. Soap gods do not like happy.
It looks like Julie is hitting Shawn D with the bottle. OMGoodness
Also if you notice when Hope is kissing Bo, she has the ring on that Aiden gave her soooo this is after Bo;s return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations: Outstanding Lead Actress Drama Series

Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.
