DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Nicole Has Long-Awaited Showdown With Sloan as Carlivati Writing Regime Episodes Begin Again

Photo: JPI

On the Friday, May 31st episode of Days of our Lives, head writer Ron Carlivati promised a nod to the audience that the script they are watching came from his writing team, their first, since the writers strike.

At the beginning of today’s show, one of Carlivati’s favorite muses, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), is sitting with his laptop saying how bad The Spectator’s writing has gotten, expressing, “No offense Everett, but the quality of the writing has really gone down hill the last couple of months. But that is about to change starting today.”

With that, the viewers finally get the long-awaited confrontation between Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Sloan (Jessica Serfaty), which seemed, at first, a bit odd that Sloan snuck into the DiMera mansion to confront Nicole in the first place, when she should be on the run.

Sloan tells Nicole there’s something she has to hear. Nicole starts to call Rafe (Galen Gering) to lock her up, but Sloan stops her. She swears to Nicole she didn’t plan to kidnap Jude. Dimitri showed up with him just as she was running out of options after her adoption fell through with Eric.  “It felt like fate,” Sloan says. “I’ll show you fate,” Nicole shouts and punches Sloan’s lights out.

Nicole is mortified of what Sloan put her through and the lengths of her lies and deceit. That’s when Sloan reminds Nicole she did the exact same thing to Sami (Alison Sweeney) years ago. So, she goes on to say, because of how she stole a baby from its birth mother, maybe she can show her some grace. Nicole shouts, “Never!”

Sloan starts to make her exit as Nicole is calling the cops, and just as Sloan makes it to the doorway, Eric (Greg Vaughan) shows up. Will she tell Eric he is the biological father of baby Jude before EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) returns home?

Meanwhile, outside the Brady Pub, EJ runs into Leo and Leo is on to him. He realizes something is up with Sloan and baby Jude and EJ’s part in any cover-up just as Rafe arrests Melinda  (Tina Huang) for seemingly her part of hatching the baby switch plot.

Elsewhere, Bobby (Blake Berris) has control of Everett right in front of Jada (Elia Cantu), Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), who shows up to help him. It’s now defined to everyone that Bobby is an alter that is protecting Everett from finding out something terrible that happened to him, which caused his split personality.

So, what did you think of the Nicole/Sloan baby switch showdown? Underwhelming? Great? What did you think of the first show back from the regular DAYS writing regime? Do you like how things moved? Do you not like the direction? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

It was definitely a jam packed episode. You could tell it was Ron’s writing team. It would be awesome to have Eric find out this week, but don’t think so. It would be a nice sendoff for Nicole to have reunited with Eric before Arianne leaves, I wouldn’t want Greg Vaughn to leave, but they belong together..

Rinse, repeat same old scene we have watched a million times on this soap and every other daytime soap for the last 25 years. Yes, we get the payoff of a Nicole Sloane confrontation but it’s the same playbook we have viewed dozens of times before.

Mom gets baby back, mom slaps and curses baby snatcher, calls her the b word, baby snatcher humiliated by town, baby snatcher avoids time in jail. The arc holds no mystery for us or any joy. It’s pedestrian. With the truth out that Sloane is not the mother the idea that Roman and Marlena wouldn’t recognize their own grandchild especially after they kept repeatedly saying he looks just like Eric did as a child and not demand another supervised paternity test is absurd. If this genre doesn’t learn to do something different it is doomed.

There was definitely a different feel to the show on Friday, and…I liked it! Say what you want about Ron but it definitely took on a more in your face how dare you wrong me mode and I’m thankful for that. I wish they would find a way to keep Zucker thoug! Nicole is my favorite.

The Fridays episode was great. But I wish they would hire Ari back she’s the one and only Nichole no one can replace her

Finally the Baby Mama Trauma is over. Or is it? Too many new characters are stealing screen time from LEGACY characters. DAYS has featured LBQT stories but never with positive results. DIMITRI is gone. LEO is up to his Old TRICKS. Where is Andrew? Sonny and Will should have been home for Christmas. And Where is SUSAN BANKS? She needs to come back for her precious baby boy Elvis. Hey,I may be Victor’s real heir. Now that Prince Albert is gone, can I get a job? I would send KONSTANTIN back to Greece in a body bag. AND I’m still waiting for a THRUPLE with Dimitri and Xander. After all These ARE the GAYS of Our Lives. Come on Ron, give me a break! LOL to ALL from RICK DEMERIAKIS!

I thought it was underwhelming. Nicole should have hit her ass more then once. Also I don’t why Nicole would trust Sloan with the DNA test that was her first mistake. And Alex I can’t wait to see him fall. He’s going to want to go and hide. And give back the money he just spent on the car and horse. It going to be funny. And he’s going to be embarrassed.

Steve Burton Departs Days of our Lives as Harris Says Goodbye to Ava & Heads Off to Find Megan Hathaway

Monday’s June 24th episode of Days of our Lives marked the final episode of Steve Burton as Harris Michaels. Back at Christmastime in December of 2023, the popular actor finished his time on the soap, and then announced he had wrapped his run on the Peacock series.

Next, in early January of 2024, during the conclusion of General Hospital’s 60th anniversary special, Burton revealed he is back on the ABC soap in his signature soap role of Jason Morgan. Previously, Burton was let go from the show for not complying with the Covid-19 vaccine mandate in November of 2021.

Steve’s Days of our Lives journey began back in 1988 when he first appeared as the character of Harris Michaels. Next, DAYS brought back the character in the summer of 2022 for the limited series Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem 2.  Then, he joined the mothership in March of 2023.

In storyHarris comes to tell Ava that he is heading out of Salem because Hope needs him to follow up on a lead on the treacherous Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson). Ava questions why he has to be the one to go. Harris explains that Hope (Kristian Alfonso) has to stay by Bo’s (Peter Reckell) side and can’t leave him, so he is going to try to track down Megan, after all, she nearly destroyed his life.

Harris tells Ava there are a lot of trust issues between them, and that he will always care for her. The two hit the sheets one final time, before Harris makes his exit. Tamara Braun told Soap Opera Digest on the final moments between Ava and Harris, “You hold on as tight as you can before you let go. You try to feel everything real, good and intimate, and you cry and you say good-bye. It’s sad.”

If you recall, Steve dropped this video below after he finished taping his last scenes at Burbank Studios where DAYS is taped.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES Preview: What Will Diana Tell Leo? Is John Really His Father?

This week on Days of our Lives, Judith Chapman is back for a one-day stint as Diana Colville when her son, Leo (Greg Rikaart) visits her in prison.

In story, Diana was sent to the slammer, for back in 2019 she tried to murder Marlena (Deidre Hall), and at the time she admitted (or claims) she falsified the DNA tests that originally proved the John Black (Drake Hogestyn) was Leo’s father. Leo turned his back on his mother and has not seen or spoken to her again.

However, recently Leo has visited Marlena as his shrink to try to get to the bottom of why he is the way he is. Upon Marlena’s suggestion, she advises him to see his mother.

Photo: JPI

Speaking with Soap Opera Digest on her upcoming key scenes, Chapman expressed, “Diana was not happy about him going to Marlena for help and Leo is like, ‘Yeah, Mom, I’m figuring this out because you messed me up so much in my life.'”

Judith teased,“She (Diana) stays in control so she’s not breaking down but her facade definitely cracks. By the time we finished the scenes, everybody who was in earshot started applauding. I thought it was just a token, ‘Oh, welcome back, Judith,’ but it was because Greg and I apparently knocked it out of the park. The director came out, threw her hands up and was like, ‘You did it, you did it!’ Greg and I hugged and just clung to each other for 15, 20 seconds.”

Make sure to tune-in to the Tuesday, June 25th of the Peacock streaming soap opera to see the showdown between Leo and Diana.

So, do you think Leo is John’s biological son after all? Do you think Diana will reveal something else that will help Leo figure out why he does the things he does? Are you excited to see Judith and Greg in scenes again, after years as Y&R mother and son, Gloria and Kevin, and then on Days as Diana and Leo?

Check out our recent Daytime Emmy Red Carpet interview with Greg below. Then, let us know your theories in the comment section.
