If you live down under the search is on for the next hottie with legitimate acting chops to join the cast of NBC’s Days of our Lives, and just in time for the show’s upcoming 50th anniversary come November!

According to multiple Australian press outlets today, DAYS is on the hunt for an Australian male to play ‘ruggedly handsome’ doctor Finn, who comes to Salem to do a residency under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Jonas played by Shawn Christian.

DAYS co-executive producer Greg Meng told Australian Associated Press that the successful applicant will receive a 12 month contract and start appearing on air by mid-to-late October,  “It will be a one year deal … it will be a minimum of 13 weeks and it will be for the anniversary and beyond.  If they’re beautiful and sexy that’s great, but we are looking for somebody who can step in and fill this legitimate role with a legitimate storyline, and a really well constructed character.”

Applications are being accepted until March 22nd, with shortlisted applicants to film a scene and the chosen winner flown to LA.  To apply click here at Days of our Lives Search For A Star.  The requirements are as follows:

You must be an Australian male aged 20-35 years of age.
You must provide proof of previous acting experience or qualifications.
You must upload a 3 minute showreel/video
You must supply 2 recent photos (head shot and full body shot)
You must be able to travel to LA between 13-18 April, 2015.
You must be able to relocate to LA for a minimum of 13 weeks from Monday 18 May, 2015.

So, who will be the next Aussie actor to follow former Home and Away stars Bren Foster (Ex-Quinn) and Justin Melvey (Ex-Colin) with time spent in Salem?

age 20-35 … DAYS : Mary Beth Evans, the lovely Kayla would like some company

Enough of these Aussies, already. Hire an American. We have plenty of ruggedly handsome men right here, in this vast, beautiful country of ours. Think Texas, Montana, the Dakotas….etc.
If Australians can speak with a ‘patched up’ American accent, so can an American affect an Australian one. I don’t get it…look in your own backyard, casting directors!

Let’s go to Days, now…..Am I to believe that Paul is John’s son? I really like that concept…Finally, something meaty for John. He’s not my favorite soap actor, but, now, at least, I will not be as bored or annoyed by him.
How about that Eve. What a bimbo!!!! She’s jealous of JJ and any other girl? Key word here is…wait for it….wait for it….GIRL !!!!!!!! Eve, the dinosaur….the Granny is really off her rocker. I cannot believe this floozy. WOW !!

Soaps are big in Australia. I wonder how many Americans are cast on their soaps?

If that is the case, Timmm, where there is an even balance?…..Then, I will eat my words and take everything I wrote back.

Of course Daniel is involved with this…may as well call it ‘Daniel Of Our Lives!’

Too many newbies…all i like is Paul and his mother…Eve, Paige, Serena, Daniel, Melanie, and Erik can all leave town. Why does this show need Roxanne(she is sort of ok) when it already has Bev…and why cant Paige be seeing Rory, the cool one, instead of TheNewKidOnTheBlock?

I don’t know how this is going to be possible, but the way Paul’s mother reacted to both Marlena and John– I bet my last donut, that John is going to be Paul’s father.

Perfect : ‘Daniel Of Our Lives!’

darned if you do and darned if you don’t : right?

How is it possible that one “anointed” person is ALL Salem Needs?

like CeeCee said above…. I’m glad as well.. that John Black gets story… and YES! it’s Paul Norita…
I was instantly taken with his mother

I also agree… that watching Eve jealous… surprised me… I’m still not undone by the story… if the writing improves… these two able actors are ready

What about Bren Foster? 🙂

I guess since B&B and Y&R both have Australians, Days wants to compete. 😉

I’m not necessarily excited. Just want the show to improve.

Compete for what, Mo? Who has more Australians? Seriously? We are swarmed by them……meanwhile, there are starving American actors who are struggling right here in the US of A.

What is Ingo Rademacher (formerly GH’s Jax) up to these days?

I”m thinking they need some male hunk to keep Anne, Theresa, Melanie, and Serena company… add in Kayla

Australians seem to breed hunks, Patrick. Love the accent…nothing like the real thing…

Theresa is still so ” hung over” Brady, Patrick. So, yeah, a hunky doctor for her would sober her up in more ways than one.
Anne is just too funny to have a guy come around and kill that in-your-face aura surrounding her. If she falls for some man, she will lose all that spunk I love so much and put all her energy toward impressing her love interest.
Serena should take a train, plane or hike back to Llanview.
Melanie has Brady, for the time being…hope he goes back to Theresa and both be united with the baby Kristen stole.

On a different note…did you not love Jenny today? WOW. The tame little kitten has sprung into a tigress. Double WOW. Never knew she had it in her. …..Jenny showed what the power of a mother protecting her “cub” can do. I derived an excessive amount of satisfaction as I watched tiny, little Jennifer Horton on the prowl, finding and ferociously scratching the shrew’s eyes out. You go Jenny !!!!

I wish they would search for a new Will. I wouldn’t mind if Will had an Aussie accent as long he could act.

Yes- I agree Tad- a new Will- one who can ACT woukd be a great improvement. Every single time Guy opens his mouth I cringe. And I really wish Sonny would stop acting like such a pussy. Man up and get angry, upset, etc.- but I’ve had enough of Sonny as ‘victim’.

ditto

it just boggles the mind that the DAYS production team keep Guy Wilson and Shawn Christian .

they do not ACT

Tell me about it, Patrick. I doubt TPTB will rid themselves of Shawn any time soon. He is one of the lead actors, if not the top male character. I also think that Daniel and Nicole really fit…perhaps because they are a couple in real life? I am waiting with bated breath to finally see “them” bring these two together, finally, without a hitch. I really feel they will be explosive because Nicole has that extra ingredient which helps her male counterpart shine. Let’s see what happens.

Will? He has never worked for me. After all this time, he is still as painfully dull as a toothache. If only drop-dead-gorgeous Chandler would come back! Sigh.
But, we do have Sonny and Paul….love them both.

Ingo Rademacher.

He was up for a role on the series back in the early 2000’s, but it fell through.

Since Days is big in the land down under I suspect this is a way to get them involved with the 50th Anniversary of the show– it is a stunt, nothing more, and unless they luck out and find an amazing talent, this guy will last as long as Lexie’s half brother, who I have already forgotten this name- I want to say Cameron is that right? Let’s hope they write him a better story than being a male stripper to pay off medical school loans.

It does seem obvious John is Pauls father…wish he had been Abe’s instead…for John they shouldve brought back his daughter Belle!!!

Steven Spiel. Has day time soap experience check out

Nah….not hunky enough. Lips too thin…not tall enough….not handsome …JMO.

How do we get Zachary Garred in the running? Loved seeing that Aussie on my screen. Granted it would mean having to start watching Days but if it means ZG onscreen, I’ll do it and I bet I wouldn’t be the only one.

Oh yes, I do miss Zachary as Levi on GH. And, I do think it’s very doubtful that DAYS will consider ZG. I think they are really pushing for an Aussie actor who hasn’t appeared on any other American soap.

I would love to see Bren Foster return to daytime!

@Mo said the same thing above ! YES… even tho he’s been on DAYS before… they wasted him and never utilized his character
(May 2011 – February 22, 2012) he played Vivian Alamains son… Quinn

RETURN HIM as a new Character, or as Quinn….

my other pick would be Ben Lawson….

Bren was GREAT as Quinn – the most convincingly devlish bad-guy on Days in years. They made a mistake letting him go, imho. Hope they pick someone like that for this new role. The Aussies have charisma to spare (Bren, Ingo, Nathan parsons, etc.)

Side note – Australian … I wonder if he is connected to Tony/Andre? A long lost son?

It’s a bit ambitious, but it would certainly help Days ratings if they could land a Hemsworth – they’ve all done soaps before!

Even someone like Jonathon Wood, Wade Briggs, Matthew Le Nevez or Conrad Coleby sound like they’d fit the brief! Not sure whether the first two meet the ‘rugged’ criteria but they’ve all proved they’ve got the chops to handle it!

OMG. If one of those Hemsworth brothers would even appear temporarily, I would immediately stop picking on the Aussies. Is there a word that supersedes gorgeous, beautiful, perfection, flawless…..?????

This should go to Nathin Butler, he was gone way too soon from GH

Good choice!

Forgot all about him – he was excellent!

@mar SF. You are right. I had already surmised John being Paul’s father on the previous site. It will be interesting to see the ‘how, when and where’,…..the plot thickens ?????

Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.
