Coming up on Days of our Lives, what has been teased months ago, will finally stream on the Peacock soap opera. The beloved and iconic Horton house is about to burn possibly to the ground, after it is set on fire on the Friday, February 9th episode.

The story will pick up starting on the Monday, February 12th episode, which will find Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and Chad (Billy Flynn) coming upon the scene as the living room is engulfed in flames.

As it will be revealed, a major vendetta against Chad, is the cause when viewers learn the the fire was no accident. In the major scenes, Doug (the late Bill Hayes, who was still taping episodes at DAYS several months before his passing), Julie, Chad and his kids, all go to safety outside and watch the iconic home burn.

Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Susan Seaforth Hayes previewed the devastating moment and just how hard it hits Julie. “Everybody has come and gone and had experiences there,” Hayes begins. “This was the (home of the family’s) matriarch and the patriarch. And then there’s Tom’s chair. What will happen to Dr. Tom’s chair?”

Hayes adds there is a touching scene when everyone makes it to safety, “There’s a nice sequence outside the house watching the house burn.” She elaborates,”It looks quite hopeless. There are ashes, smoke and filth… It’s a sad heap.”

This will wind up being a rebuilding project for Julie and the Horton legacy, as Susan shared, “Julie’s take on it after is determination to not lose the sense of the house, to not lose what was there emotionally.”

Look for Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) to step up and provide temporary roof over the heads of her beloved friends and relatives.

What a dumb plot – what viewers really want to see a beloved elderly couple’s house go up in flames?

Will it be a Christmas miracle that the ornaments survive? Is there enough money in the budget for a nicer new set?

Assuming this was taped in July as the gap between tape and air on this show is a ridiculous 7 months now (compared to GH which occasionally gets stuff on air 2 weeks after taping). This might have been one of Ron’s last stories before the temporary writers took over.

Just not worth it.

The world today has change so much people now days don’t want the truth about life today’s beliefs r no longer the way they were when this best soap came out Year’s ago. God be with us all

They made a point of mentioning that the ornaments are usually stored in the basement during the recent Helliday season, so maybe that means they won’t burn up in the fire?

I’m the Devil, so I’m obviously used to fires, where I come from. But this one is entirely unnecessary. The ReRon regime has damaged the Horton family enough as it is. Burning down Tom & Alice’s home to advance Redneck Clyde’s drug dealing plot is a bit much.

And, why would they ruin a perfectly good house set? The new ones are all dumpy apartments.

They’ll probably introduce a “value engineered” set that’s less intricate than the traditional one.

It wasn’t a Ron storyline. Just prior to the strike, Ron announced that he had only written up to the Christmas episode. This storyline was written by the replacement writers.

Not sure why you are assuming this was filmed in July. Days films six months in advance, not seven, which would have had this episode filmed in the beginning September.

The fire storyline isn’t going to be about destruction, but instead; rebuilding and looking back at the history of a young Tom and Alice. Rest assured, Julie will rebuild and find the vintage boxes of ornaments.

Leave it to Ron to decimate and destroy the most important meaningful element of the show.

This storyline is horribly upsetting and totally unnecessary! It’s as if Ron and his pack of illiterates are spitting in the faces of all of us who have loved this show and it main characters for almost sixty years!!!! As of now I have not been able to bring myself to watch the devastation!!!! I am very upset and angry and I really wish Ken Corday would fire the entire lot of them!

Now let’s talk about Nicole.!!!!! What the hell are you thinking????? Mr. Corday, Beg her to return! You just might lose what’s left of your audience over this!!!!!!! She must be rehired at full pay!!!!

The irony given the show is literally burning down before our eyes with the terrible writing and the unlawful treatment of Ari and others.

Um…Pissed Off doesn’t even begin to express how I feel about it. Absolutely no good reason to do it. There’s no story worth this. The damage better be minimal. SSH was right in asking “what will happen to Dr. Tom’s chair.” I was thinking about that (of all things, a chair) during last year’s Christmas episode. Tom used to sit in it. After he died, Alice was often seen sitting in it. And Now Doug has occupied it the most. (And now our beloved BH has died.) This living room is historic! This set was one where millions of viewers found comfort. Moving on, growing, whatever ~ if they take that set from us, they are robbing millions of people of the solace they find even in an imaginary set. The stories may be imaginary, but the effects are not. Shame on whomever thought this was a neat idea!

That is a great response !

I agree with you 100% I’ve watched it since I was 8 or 9 years old and I am 51 now I remember Alice and Tom and how Alice always helped everybody even if she had to break the law just a little bit behind times back even the tunnel under shenanigans that she help people hide out in there was no reason to burn the house down none whatsoever

To ruin a set that was iconic and a major part of Days of our Lives is beyond stupidity. Why ? So many viewers and fans livid about this. Afraid this Horton Fire not only send the house to burn but the entire show itself

They destroyed Victor’s house set – all characters are forced into that small windowless den set, no foyer, no royal doors… Over the years Rafe’s house and kitchen has gotten smaller and smaller, for some reason everyone on the show sleeps in the same bedroom – look at the “doors”… Maybe the Horton’s will buy the hotel (hey wait… Julie owns a B and B in town – where did that go?)… Sure seems Marlina and John and Patch and Kala live in the same “set” with one small kitchen switch…. The DeMara mansion is somewhat in tact…. I only watch the show once a week… perhaps one day too many.

I don’t think we have seen Julie’s B&B since Gabi pushed her down the stairs and she ended up with Stefan DiMera’s original heart (which Gabi then controlled with a wi-fi equipped pacemaker)

What a terrible idea, how can they destroy Tom and Alice’s home it has so many memories for everyone

yes it will be sad

I don’t understand it either. They moved to peacock so that they would get more audience. They wanted to make sure that we’d all want to watch. But now they’re burning down major sets I mean what’s next the Brady pub?

To maximize product placement, the hourglass will be replaced by an Apple Watch

Burning the iconic set is shortsighted. Has anyone producing and writing soaps today studied what the greats did in the heyday? Strong storytelling is better than gimmicks. The webs foolishly cut back what so many people love about daytime drama, then punish viewers when their budget cuts and programming decisions don’t work. Everyone has monkeyed with the genre except for viewers. Thanks.

They should not have burned down the house. Maybe it could have been going through renovations so not everything was there. Dr. Tom’s chair is probably not very comfortable all these years later. LOL It is sad though.

Ken Corday seems determined to burn down DAYS entirely one way or another so why not the house.

The house didn’t have to be destroyed, but it does happen in real life. Maybe the original house plans could be found somewhere and the house rebuilt to exact likeness with some enhancement .

Sydney Malekeh Joins the Cast of ‘Days of Our Lives’ in Mystery Role: Who Do You Think She’s Playing?

There’s a new gal coming to Salem, or is she new and a recast? That’s what inquiring minds from Days of Our Lives fans have been trying to figure out since the Peacock soap opera dropped an Instagram video heralding actress‘ Sydney Malekeh’s arrival in Salem.

The soap did confirm that viewers will first see Malekeh on the September 9 episode. In the video, Malekeh is seen going set to set from her dressing room and in to the halls of Days of Our Lives studios.

What we do know id that Sydney has been acting professionally for 6 years and had appeared on Grey’s Anatomy, Apple TV’s Shrinking and the HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls.

Plenty of Malekeh’s DAYS castmates jumped into the comment thread with positive emojis symbols or written excitement including: Paul Telfer (Xander), Linsey Godfrey (Sarah), Sal Stowers (Lani), Conner Floyd (Chad), Eric Martsolf (Brady) and Christie Clark (Carrie) and more now that fans will finally see her on-air. Since Days of Our Lives tapes 10-11 months in advance, Sydney would have started taping the show sometime back in 2025.

DAYS fans think perhaps because the actress’ name is Sydney that she might be playing the grown-up daughter of Sami and EJ. That character hasn’t bee on the canvas since 2021.

So, who do you think Sydney Malekeh might be playing on Days of Our Lives? Drop your casting director thoughts via the comment section below.

While recently the streaming service Peacock reported turning a profit for its first time since its infancy, now comes word that the company is raising their prices for all customers, and in some cases it stared today on August 18.

The news of the subscription rate increases marks the fourth time the NBCUniversal streaming platform has done so in four years.  So, on August 18, Peacock is increasing the prices for new or returning subscribers and customers, while current subscribers will see the rate increase on or after September 17 depending on their billing cycle when they initially signed up.

Here is the new pricing to follow along: Peacock Premium (which includes ads) will be $12.99/month, up two dollars from $10.99; Peacock Premium Plus will be $19.99/month, up three dollars increase from $16.99; and the Peacock Select tier (which includes current and past seasons of NBC and Bravo shows but excludes movies, live sports and Peacock originals) will increase a dollar from $7.99 to $8.99/month.

SUBSCRIBERS CONTINUE TO PAY MORE ACROSS THE STREAMER LANDSCAPE

It was back in June that the streamer reported that aid subscribers were up to 48 million adding a 2 million net gain during Q2 in of 2026. The subscription price hikes are rampant now in the entertainment streaming industry where over the last two years for example, Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV, Paramount+ have all raised their fees to consumers.

Peacock’s tier-levels feature not only Days of Our Lives, but reality hits such as The Traitors and Love Island USA, Bravo series, and a vault of  Saturday Night Live, Law & Order, The Real Housewives franchise, and Below Deck episodes as well. Pecock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers have access to sports and live events, as well.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES SUBSCRIBERS HAD A FEW CHOICE WORDS FOR PEACOCK

As Days of Our Lives fans know, the soap opera moved from NBC to the streamer back in September of 2022 after 57 years on broadcast television. When the news hit X on the price increase, DAYS fans had a lot to say about it. Here are just a few of the comments below:

“I can’t believe Peacock and can’t come to a deal with Cordya to air old episodes of #Days. That alone would bring a ton of subscribers,” to If Peacock actually cared about #Days of Our Lives, gave the show the budget it needs for better sets, cameras, background actors and enough time to tell proper stories, I wouldn’t mind paying more. If the money actually showed on screen, the higher price would be worth it,” to “I  will continue to pay for a Peacock subscription as long as #Days is on it, but did we know there was another price increase coming?” and more.

So, what do you think of the new price hike increase to watch Days of Our Lives and your other favorite shows and events on Peacock? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

THE THEMES BEHIND VERONICA & JULIAN

Director Otoja Abit shared this statement on the feature film, “Veronica & Julian is about the right people who have a chance meeting at the wrong time. It’s a look at two people who don’t grow apart—they just grow up. This film is an authentic exploration of an imminent ending and how two people deeply in love got there. It aims to be quiet while telling a relatable story about modern-day relationships.”

Abit continued, “As a society, mainstream romantic films are often delivered through fantastical aspirations. I created this film believing that viewers who have experienced a breakup can relate to Veronica and Julian, depending on their perspective. They’re a couple navigating some of the most familiar obstacles in love: miscommunication, timing and pride.”

He concluded, “It’s a story about endings told through the small moments we often don’t recognize until they’re gone.  With the support of the Panavision New Filmmaker Program, I approached the story with a deeper sense of visual control while maintaining the naturalism that defines each character.”
