DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Who Killed Deimos?

Courtesy/NBC

The suspects are many, and it looks like the initial Salemite taken into custody may not be the culprit!

On last Friday’s episode of Days of our Lives, it was JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) who was arrested for having Deimos Kirkiakis’ (Vincent Irizarry) blood on his shirt! But with so many people at the Martin House shindig under the effects of the drug Halo (Thanks to a vindictive Deimos spiking the champagne that everyone drank), did a drugged JJ really kill the guy? JJ always seems to land in hot water, even when he is innocent!

On a side note: Hey All My Children fans, remember when Vincent Irizarry as Dr. David Hayward also drugged the party goers on a yacht filled with Pine Valley residents with the drug Libidozone? Interesting bit of history repeating itself!

Back to DAYS: From Nicole (Arianne Zucker), Eric (Greg Vaughan), Sonny (Freddie Smith), Paul (Christopher Sean), Chad (Billy Flynn), Gabi (Camila Banus), Lani (Sal Stowers), Eli (Lamon Archey), JJ, Abigail (Marci Miller), Dario (Jordi Vilasuso), Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Rafe (Galen Gering), Victor (John Aniston), Brady (Eric Martsolf) and many others in town, everyone had an ax to grind with the evil drug lord! But, who really finished Deimos off for good

Watch this week’s promo for Days of our Lives after the jump. Then weigh-in! Who will ultimately be revealed to be the real culprit? Will there be a murder trial? Share your theories in the comment section below!

My guess is Dario.

Let’s hope so. The character is pointless. Reminds me of Nick sister. NO REASON FOR BEING ON

I agree, Vicki. I could never understand what the fascination with this character/actor is. He is non-charismatic….not to sound petulant, Vicki, but normally, even the bad boys ‘demand’ some attraction, depending on their personality. He has none. This guy has nothing to offer. I could easily accept him if he had some allure. And I do not mean looks alone. He is bland……I do agree with you…..he is pointless. If Dario is exiting, then an easy way to walk out is for him to have killed Deimos. Good riddance, I say….and Gabi can go with him. I used to love… Read more »

I agree. We already know he is running some kind of online theft operation. And now married to Abigail…hmm and wasn’t he there at the beginning of the party?

Who cares—- but if you want to get technical about it — it was whoever created the character to begin with– it was a dumb idea from the get go– got worse over time, don’t blame VI from leaving— but whoever did it, please reveal it quickly, don’t want to have to go down the whole list of Halo suspects with fuzzy memories– if I was writing this, I would have Henderson be the one– the classic the butler did it– and move on.

Whatever! I like a good “whodunnit?” storyline… that being said I cannot wait until Ron Carlivati’s material to start airing! Wish he penned this one!

Deimos killed himself…he accidentally drank his own drug, hallucinted, and attacked himself…realizing he was dieing he managed to wipe off his own fingerprints on the murder weapon to make it look like one of his enemies murdered him!!!

My money is on the waiter that was working the party with Deimos. He’s a throw-away character who would be easy to pin the murder on and not disrupt the canvas. Plus, they took the time to show the waiter drinking the tinted champagne while cleaning up. Why, if not to drop a clue? Just my guess.

Celia

True, that, Rodd. If TPTB do not have anyone specific in mind of which to rid themselves, then yes, your guess is the only logical one.

I have tuned back into Days of our lives . Last weeks episodes culminating in the murder were just great . Days of our lives has taken a turn for the best , yes the best . The murder mystery is fascinating . I can now sit through an entire episode without turning the tv off and i am even excited at seeing the next episode . You can all tune back in . Make sure to watch last weeks episodes leading up to the murder and when they find the body and who has been arrested but quite possibly… Read more »

Yes, I remember when Dr. Hayward purposely dispensed that drug, since he was essentially the same misguided character as Deimos. It’s not just a case of “history repeating itself” but rather a rehashed done-to-death storyline – Vincent is most certainly a proficient actor but this is pretty much the same character that he is sort of known for portraying. I am more than marginally bored with this show, have missed many of June’s episodes and it doesn’t seem to matter because I can watch a few moments here and there on line and pretty much know what’s going on since… Read more »

The writers killed Deimos not long after he appeared on the canvas by making him into a one dimensional villain. Poor Vincent Irazarry had to endure some of the worst writing in soap history. As far as who finished the character off at the party, the answer will of course be, “none of the above”. It will probably be Xander. Now, let’s work on getting VIncent over to General Hospital (where the writing is marginally better).

It’s hit or miss, Shay. Once in a blue moon, I will get one. What can I say? I am sure it’s my ipad, since I share this email address with my sister-in-law, with minor “adjustments”…LOL. The irony is, Shay, she manages to turn the tables on us. We mind our own business; we do not start the ugly disputes and insults . we enjoy each other’s comments—we go back and forth ( when posted), between ourselves—but, without fail, the demeaning laughter and affrontery upon our person; intelligence; and moral discipline ( which she lacks) starts. I seem to remember how Mr. Fairmain, last year, in April, cautioned all of us to be respectful of each other and to be mindful of our criticism of the characters/actors. Well, we are human, and we do ‘fall’ occasionally.… Read more »

Wow, CeeCee…You’re still NOT receiving any MF messages? Bummer! Then again, just between you and me, mia amica, I’ve unfortunately been “treated” to a few highly personal “nastygrams” meant for you over the past few days, I’m sure you can surmise the source and subject matter…LOL. Seems they were “misdirected” to my personal inbox. One made it online the Julian thread, one didn’t. No matter, same old stuff, nothing new!…..@@…..Went straight to my trash file….very apropos! Basically, they both boiled down to those two most favorite, oft-repeated buzzwords: “Baby booties and b@@bs!” Need I expound any further? (Rhetorical question….Lol.) But seriously, why these posts continue to be entertained at this late date is beyond me…they never offer anything new or unique, it’s just the same old rehashing of personal grievances and throwing of shade at you, me or the two of us combined! Might he play Dr. Haywood again soon?

Jake Martin

Jake Martin

There are ‘rumors’ that he (Vincent) is heading for General Hospital and I suspect he will play Dr. David Hayward, formerly from Pine Valley Hospital. This gives one reason to think that since ABC has re-gained the character rights from both All My Children and One Life to Live that it is possible that there may be character cross-overs towards General Hospital. This was ABC’s original intention (my opinion) when Prospect Park leased the rights to both AMC and OLTL which as most soap fans know caused quite a bit of controversy as to just “how” characters could be utilized.… Read more »

Sonny, implicated by his new mobster appearance. Coffee shop/”club” owner one day, slicked back hair, gun totting “suit” the next. I can’t help but laugh every time I see this ridiculousness on my screen.

Shay, I watched a little of today’s episode while at home for lunch. Again, I had to laugh at Sonny attempting to be a thug and hard a$$. He was attempting to stand-up to Brady, reminding him who was boss. I was rolling my eyes and laughing. Sonny, who up until not that long ago, was wearing flannel print shirts and tending bar at his “club.” Now, he’s trying to tell Brady how to do his job. Little boy playing dress-up in his daddy’s suit. You are right, I think his plane may have made a pit-stop in Port Charles,… Read more »

Oh, my, Shay!!…..the black sea divides Sonny Kiriakis from Sonny Corinthos.
Sonny K’ heart is not black….that is the main difference between the two. While dmr’s description of Sonny ( of late) is dead on, he is easy on the eye and likable.
Perhaps, it’s just moi?
The writers are doing little Sonny a disservice. I like the ‘flannel shirts’ on him. LOL.

Oh, CeeCee, I was simply jesting since I read dmr’s highly-amusing description of “Little Sonny’s” sudden affection for mobwear! It has been a repeated theme of their posts here, and I couldn’t help but be struck by not just the basic physical/circumstantial similarities of these two characters as they were mentioned, but I also suggested that perhaps “Little Sonny’s” mom had a layover in Port Charles and briefly encountered “Big Sonny’s” “Little Sonny,” if you know what I mean! (I’m trying to put that delicately, since the last time I broached the subject, it didn’t materialize online…LOL.) Of course, this… Read more »

There is sn entire post preceding the “PS” one, Shay & dmr. See what I mean???? LOL….I take it with a grain of salt.
Sometimes one wonders who decides what to print? Amazing!! ….when a certain someone gets away with calling other posters every name under the vast, blue AMERICAN sun….lest we forget, this won’t be printed either. Where were the watchdogs, then?? We are in the minority, guys….hostile waters. LOL.

Amen to that notion, dmr!!! It just goes to show when the soaps don’t entertain and satisfy us with their homegrown creative efforts, we’ll go about imagining our own versions of their “fictional realities,” even if it requires cross-pollination of two very different species of soap animals! I love a murder mystery but soaps truly fail at writing a good one. Instead of whodunit intrigue we get everyone in sequence being arrested and then cleared. By the time they get to the reveal so much time has past that no one cares other then the story is FINALLY OVER!

That said it’s clearly Nicole since the actress is leaving.

@Damien.
Hey, Damien….I echo your words. I am sooo turned off by the exaggerated ‘interfamily” hook-ups and marriages on Y&R. It has become disgusting. Each has savored the other’s brother, sister, child, parents…… the worst? Victor and Sharon. Yuck!!
Adam’s return will ‘rampage’ Nick’s cozy cuddling with Chelsea.
So, yeah….Ron needs to do a one-eighty in weeding out ‘unwanted’ storylines, which have brought this, once, brillian soap to a low standard.

Days Of Our Lives

DAYS Wally Kurth Delivers ‘The Power Performance of the Week’

Mark our words! Next year, Days of our Lives Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) will once again be nominated for a Daytime Emmy for this week’s emotional and deeply-touching work on key episodes of the NBC daytime drama series.

As viewers saw, this was to be the happy nuptials of Justin and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), who found love again after losing the previous loves of their lives.  They were dear friends to begin with, who through a set of horrific circumstances, found comfort with one another which eventually turned to love.

Photo: JPi

Problem was; Justin overheard Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) before the ceremony discussing Steve’s (Stephen Nichols) feelings for Kayla and that he wants her back; something Kayla is unaware of.  So what will he do?  The noble thing and tell her the truth, or keep it to himself and marry her anyway?

As the Intel of what he learned weighed heavier and heavier on Justin, in the most dramatic of moments (when he was to say his “I do’s”), Justin stopped the ceremony and bared all to Kayla: that Steve wants her back and how Steve saw him propose to her and that is why he backed off.  Armed with the knowledge and that her friends and family kept it from her, Kayla does not know what to do.  Justin helps made it easy and clear for her when he questions her … if they would be standing here getting married, if Steve had told her his true feelings before Justin proposed to her?

Justin goes on to say to Kayla that maybe she has been avoiding her true feelings for Steve, because she did not want to hurt him.  Then Justin tells Kayla that he visited his late wife Adrienne’s (Judi Evans) grave, and told her that if things were different, and if she was alive they would still be married, and Kayla would be their dear, dear friend.

Photo: JPI

With seeing the look on Kayla’s eyes, Justin knows she loves Steve.  Heartbroken, but caught in an untenable situation, Justin tells Kayla he is happy for her.  Kayla wraps her arms around Justin as they both cry.  Kayla says she never wanted to hurt him, and when Wally as Justin says, “I know, honey,” it was one of the most honest and ten-hankie moments of the entire scenario.   Justin kisses her, tells the guests there will be no wedding today, and exits the Kiriakis mansion.

The emotional drama continues in the aftermath as Justin is at Kayla’s apartment boxing up all of his belongings and tears up recalling their nights together listening to jazz and cooking dinner.  Sonny (Freddie Smith) finds his dad, and tells him he did the noble thing and that time will heal all wounds, but after Sonny leaves, Justin breaks down a bit further before exiting Kayla’s for good.

And if that was not enough, Justin goes back to Adrienne’s gravesite to update her on the wedding that did not happen.   He talks to her that he understands Kayla and Steve’s deep and enduring love, which was just like theirs was.  Next, Justin thinks he is seeing Adrienne, when none other than Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) reveals she is back in Salem – talk about kicking a guy when he is down!

Photo: JPI

Throughout this entire saga, moment to moment, Kurth delivered raw, genuine, adult emotions, in a very complex adult story and relationship.   In fact, the cast and crew thought so, too!  When Wally as Justin told Kayla that he can’t marry her and the speech that followed and his exit from the mansion that followed, all those on set applauded for him.  His work was that moving.   Wally was ably assisted throughout by the outstanding work of Mary Beth Evans in these scenes.

2020, while a difficult year for everyone thus far, has been a particular great year for Kurth on Days; as over the last six months he has really had a chance to shine in this story.  So for all of these reasons and more, Michael Fairman TV gives the “Power Performance of the Week” kudos to Wally Kurth.

Did you love Wally’s performance this week on Days? Did you reach for the hankies? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Days Of Our Lives

DAYS Wally Kurth, Mary Beth Evans & Chandler Massey Take You Behind the Scenes of Kayla and Justin’s Wedding

On Wednesday’s heartbreaking episode of Days of our Lives, viewers saw just how the nuptials of Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Justin (Wally Kurth) eventually wound up!

Justin told Kayla that Steve (Stephen Nichols) still loves her, which put a halt to the proceedings and ended the romantic relationship between the two dear friends, who found love with one another following Adrienne’s (Judi Evans) death, and Kayla believing Steve did not want her back.

Now, The DOOL app has posted a rare behind the scenes view of the making of the wedding – with moments from the key scenes, rehearsals and interviews with the cast involved.

Chandler Massey (Will) weighs-in on Will’s debut as a wedding officiant and how that went south, while Mary Beth Evans and Wally Kurth shared why they loved this storyline so much.

Wally expresses how the last six months have been some of the best storylines of his soap career, while Mary Beth says that Justin and Kayla’s relationship was so adult and that in real life, both actors have known about people who fall in love with their dear friend, after losing their significant other whether it be by divorce, or death, or whatever the circumstance.

If you don’t already have the DOOL app on your mobile device to watch the segment, you can get more info to download here.

We will have more to say on the memorable performances at Michael Fairman TV later in the week.

So, what did you think of Kayla and Justin’s wedding and the fallout? Comment below.

DAYS Mary Beth Evans & Stephen Nichols with Guest Ron Carlivati Talk Stayla’s Greatest Hits & Approach To Scripts During COVID-19

This week is a pivotal one for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) on Days of our Lives.  Will they be reunited once again?

To take a stroll down memory lane of reunions past, Mary Beth Evans along with her longtime on-screen scene partner and dear friend, Stephen Nichols, watched back key scenes from the history of Stayla and offered up a second viewing experience as they commented on the clips.

Later, Mary Beth and Stephen are joined by their surprise guest and it is revealed to be Days of our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati!

In her tweet, Evans announced: “Since we’re evidently leading up to something big on #Days … Stephen Nichols and I thought we’d get together & watch some of our reunions from the past. And, we were lucky enough to have a very special guest join us for a chat! #patchandkaylaforever”

Mary Beth and Stephen then chat with Ron about what changes is he having to make to scripts in the reality we all live in now, the coronavirus pandemic, and how he is taking in to account upcoming safety protocols that will need to be adhered to when Days goes back into production.

As of now, from an article in Deadline last Friday the NBC daytime drama series is aiming for a September 1st restart.

Watch Mary Beth, Stephen and Ron in part one and part two and part three of their discussion below.

You can find that and more on Mary Beth’s PlankBlog You Tube channel as well.
