DAYS Puts Out Casting Call For New Role Which Sounds A lot Like EJ DiMera!

Rumors have begun circulating this week that hot on the heels of Alison Sweeney (Sami) announcing she is departing the NBC soap opera, Days of our Lives after 21 years in 2014, that perhaps James Scott is also choosing to leave his role as EJ DiMera!
And with that, came news today via Soap Opera Digest of a new casting call that was put out by the NBC daytime drama which sounds to them like a cross between EJ DiMera and Chad DiMera (last played by Casey Deidrick).
The casting breakdown reads, they are casting for the role of “Fletcher” who is described as a 25 to 32 year old: “GORGEOUS CAUCASIAN MALE. Must be at least 6′. Confident, Charismatic, powerful, dynamic. His dry wit and breathtaking looks make him irresistible to the ladies. He is a master in the boardroom and bedroom. Men want to be him. Underneath it all though, is a good man with a heart of gold.” The role is contract.”
So what do you think is going on here? Is ” Fletcher” truly a new character? A recast? Weigh-in!

This marks GH’s continued record-breaking number of wins in this category and brings it up to 15 victories for the iconic show, which is currently in its 59th year on the air. The night also brought with it the historic win of The Young and the Restless’ Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair). The actress became the first black actress in Daytime Emmy history to ever take home the Lead Actress Daytime Emmy. In the emotional highpoint of the evening, in terms of acceptance speeches and significance, Morgan spoke to the current generation breaking glass ceilings.
Morgan expressed: “We are breaking glass ceilings left right and center and I am so honored to be a vessel and to experience this moment. Everybody out there today, we can do this thing called equality and unity together.” In her speech, Mishael shared: “I was born on a tiny island in the Caribbean, and I’m now standing on an international stage and I am being honored regardless of the color of my skin, regardless of my passport, for being the best at what I do, Now there are little girls around the world and no matter what the industry, the vocation they can strive to be the best.”
Veteran actor, John McCook who has played Eric Forrrester on The Bold and the Beautiful for over 35 years, finally won his first ever Emmy after four previous nominations in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama Series trophies went to two standouts from General Hospital, Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) and Jeff Kober (Cyrus), while Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer), added another mantle to the GH trophy case with his first win for Outstanding Younger Performer.
Days of our Lives writing team led by Ron Carlivati took home the gold for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series, while GH won for Direction.
The biggest winner in terms of total gold belonged to The Kelly Clarkson Show. When all was said and done, between the Creative Arts ceremonies held last weekend, and last night, the talk show took home 7 awards including: Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Talk Show Host. General Hospital followed with five total wins for Daytime Emmys 2022.
The ceremonies featured DAYS Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) anchoring the Lifetime Achievement Award presentation to her longtime co-star John Aniston (Victor), who was not present, with the help of John’s daughter, Jennifer Aniston, who was seen on tape.
Susan Lucci (Ex-Erica, All My Children) made her first public appearance since the passing of her beloved husband, Helmut Huber and introduced the In Memoriam segment. Grammy-winner Michael Bolton performed his classic tune “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” during the tribute.
Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner were the hosts for the telecast, and with the overturning of the Supreme Court Roe vs. Wade decision on everyone’s mind last night, Turner gave a nod to how she and so many others felt, when Frazier told her how nice she looked in her dress. Nishcelle commented, “I chose this dress. It was my choice.” That moment received huge applause from the audience in attendance.

Sounds like a new Chad to me…if James Scott was leaving they could give Allison her happy ending and they would leave together…would like James Depaiva to join the show as Peter Blake!!!
The little girl who plays Hope’s daughter Ciara reminds of the child actress Natasha Ryan(?) who ironically played little Hope back in the 1970s…perfect casting!!!
James Scott signed a new contract about a year ago and they’re usually for 3 years.
But if he IS in contract negotiations, this could be the “usual ploy” by the show to get JS to re-sign…threatening to re-cast the character.
This actually sounds like Philip K to me!
Maybe it could be Andrew Donovan, hopefully.
to offset the tigress’ Eve and Theresa
you know… I just have to wonder…. what an opportune time for DOOL to hammer it home……
bring Shane and Kimberly home as well
this would be the #1 family…. to catapult supercouple… the bradys… and back to the sizzling drama that stratosphered DAYS to begin with….
imagine…. Shane, Kimberly, Eve, Andrew, and Theresa
LOL
WOW!
Yes it does.
I definitely with you there, sounds a lot more like Philip than EJ or Chad.
Days will never be the same without Sammy and ej I hope they are replace.
I hope not. The ratings will go down. Now, what they need to do is stop casting and rehire-get Lexi out of the dirt already!
Stefano going to have another son?
“A good man with heart of gold” sounds NOTHING like EJ.
That’s what I thought.
I thought it was EJ Dimera till I got to the “Heart of Gold” part doesn’t sound like EJ to me, I wish James Scott stays on Days
I wouldn’t say this sounds like EJ at all. EJ.isn’t in his 20s, he’s about mid 30s unless they are making him younger, which I highly doubt. Also, EJ does not have a heart of gold whatsoever. Sorry Michael, your headline is misleading on this one.
Hope not!on th heels of everything going on with the fiasco of Y&R we r loosing most of the good actors!!
A little off topic of Days, but do you think Trevor Saint John would be a great Adam Newman re-cast? I do 🙂
Honestly no. I love Trevor St. John, and while he could certainly play the character, I’d have difficulty believing him as Nick and Victoria’s younger brother. Trevor St. John is older than them, looks older than them, and looks considerably older than the actress who plays Chelsea. So as much as I’d love to see TSJ back on my screen, I’m gonna have to say I’d rather see him as a new character on a soap that isn’t Y&R. They don’t deserve him.
EJ leaving certainly crossed my mind…. after Allison Sweeney announced her exit.
I LOVE EJ… thank god Kristen and Stefano are still with
possibly…. Trevor St. John?
possibly… Michael Muhney? would be perfect
I cetainly hope James Scott remains
he’s one of those characters and def… an actor… that NNC – Sony – DOOL should pull out all the stops for him
if not.. it’s no different, I guess… than Y&R letting MM and BM go – adam and billy
I think it’s a little different than Michael Muhney getting fired for alleged sexual harassment, but I definitely agree they should pull out all the stops to keep him. With or without Sami, EJ (and James) need to stay.
Sounds like James Scott might be in contract negotiations.
Doesn’t sound like EJ to me, and the ag range is too young eh?
Can it be EJ’s brother? EJ right now is about 36 right? So if it were an EJ recast then they’d reverse age him down a few years. He’d be too young for Nicole. So, there would have to be another female character (or two) brought on board to make this interesting.
sounds like a recast of chad. would make the ej/abby situation interesting.
This doesn’t sound like EJ to me. Chad or Phillip K maybe. I hope James Scott doesn’t leave. He is one of my favorites.
James Scott is most likely well over 32 – perhaps he is 36-38. So I would guess it’s not to replace his character although “Fletcher” certainly does sound like the name of an Englishman and if TBTB are trying to keep their fans off guard the certainly could have changed the name for that purpose.
OH YEAH – and “heart of gold” – not EJ!
Michael Muhney would be Great in the role. Sony will never allow that!
What a casting Revolving door is happening at Days – sounds to me like contractual negotiations are going on –
Rumors are that james scott, EJ dimera is leaving. lets hope not. James is a great actor. Days of our lives, ratings are really good right now. Recast bo brady with James depaiva or ted king. Both of them are wonderful actors.
“Charismatic, powerful, dynamic. His dry wit and breathtaking looks: sounds like EJ. But the board room and heart of gold sound more like Philip or Brady.
Although I certainly think EJ has a good heart underneath his desires for vengeance, sometimes I don’t think the writers believe it. They certainly are not displaying it with the current storyline. 🙁
Sounds like they are looking for CHRISTIAN GRAY. Maby they should contact 50 shades of Days
I believe this new actor casting somehow will replace Chad. Spoler somewhere quoted Abbygetting hooked up with another guy. Thank God !!!!! Leave EJ alone.
Hope his negotiations go well for him and they should now that Ali will retire. Her acting has failed lately as if she didn’t truly care anymore about the show. JMO
I kinda agree… that as hot as it’s been
EJ can steam the heck out of us!
I wasn’t looking forward to the holier than thou, Jennifer part 2
maybe…by then… Abs will calm down… and get with the program… the golden circle doesn’t want her back…. live a little and enjoy… Chad would be better for her
it better not be for ej, cause james scott is ej…nooooooooooooo days, we want james to stay…i hope it’s philip and i would like to have jay kenneth johnson back.
I hope js does leave days don’t deserve the greatness of him aspnd as they helped bring days back to a great soap and how are they rewarded with a stab in the back in the worst way to trays biggest fanbase which is #ejami who showed them that we are not idiots and won’t watch the ej and Abigail trash they keep shoving down out throats that’s all #cordaysfaught which we help trend for hours and hours on twitter !!
I hope JS doesn’t leave. He doesn’t have other jobs, like Ali, so I hope not. I thought it was for Chad.
Just wish Days would let EJami be happy for the little time left with Ali as Sami.
Totally agree! Let Ejami survive happily in the little time we have with them. I do have to add that I want to see Ejami have a happy ending and leave the show together. Sami is the only one for Ej and I want them to go out together as the best couple in soap history! If Sami can’t have him, I don’t want anyone to!
Understand that James is about to do a movie..Anyone know what kind !! Will it be a Hallmark or an NBC Special !! The latter I hope. I somehow have a feeling that James prefers not to be on the Big Screen. He like his life as it is at the moment. His home, definitely his job, his animals, and time for biking, hiking, reading, and a girlfriend on the side. What better life could anyone want these days. !! He is also a very intelligent man and I am sure he will do well for himself. I would adopt… Read more »
Hopefully EJ/James Scott stays with DOOL, and Adam Gregory/Thomas of B&B will be cast as “Fletcher” !!
I am Praying that Ej / James Scott is not leaving days of our lives. I miss Peter Reckell who played Bo Brady wish he would come back but if he doesn’t their needs to be closure for hope and bo’s storyline so she can maybe have a relationship with Craig…I also wish they were bringing back old Eve Donavon and not a new actress to protray her. I am loosing faith with DOOL because to many changes and no long term storys lasting. I loved Jack and Jennifer, Sami and Lucas, Bo and Hope, Marlena and John, I would… Read more »
EJ and Sammi were the best duo on Days…very sad to see both leave..Personally I do not care for the new Chad at all..neither do some of my friends. All the best to those that have left the show…nothing can replace them…they were at the top of their game.
