Today on DAYS, Isabel Durant makes her on-screen debut as Claire Brady and fans are intrigued to see what she brings to the role, previously played by this year’s Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series, Olivia Rose Keegan.

Days of our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati took to Twitter to wish Olivia well and thank her for her dynamic portrayal of Claire, sharing,  “Huge thank you to @oliviakeegann. who brought Claire Brady to life and made us care about her even when she was at her most dastardly. Wishing Olivia all the best as she writes her next chapter…”

Then, Carlivati officially welcomed Isabel to the role expressing: “But as one chapter ends, another begins. Please help me welcome Isabel Durant to Salem as she steps into the role of Claire.”

Make sure to check out Durant’s debut today and then let us know your thoughts on Olivia’s exit and Isabel taking over the role via the comment section below.

Olivia was fantastic. Good luck to her. I’ll miss her.

In real time, Claire wouldn’t even be out of elementary school. Now she’s being portrayed by a 28 year old??

Things could have been much worse, of course. There were rumors circulating around Hell that ReRon was going to bring in the most intolerable of his OLTL pets as a recast. thank Hell they never went there at least.

Olivia was excellent in the part
All her fans will miss her

We seem to be missing some vital information here. Why? Why is Olivia Rose Keegan out and Isabel Durant in? Why is an actress who won an Emmy for this role relieved of her duties?

That is what I would like to know,I think I will google it to see if I can find anything out.

Apparently she got a better paying gig on some “high school musical” tv series. Probably something on the new Disney streaming service, by the sounds of it.

Can’t really blame her for taking that opportunity, as opposed to playing the cartoonish Psycho Claire doing the same things over and over again. We all saw her musical talent when she first joined the show, before becoming the looney tunes pyromaniac stalker type.

Just wish the recast had been a more realistic age. Ironically, Claire’s mother, Belle was born on screen in 1994, so SHE is the one who should be portrayed by a 28 year old. But of course Belle went through the SuperSORASing process when she was the 4 year old flower girl at her parents wedding, and was 16 years old when they returned from their honeymoon (it was a long honeymoon, due to the whole brain chip/submarine sex with Hope episode, but definitely NOT 12 years long!!)

I really appreciate all the responses. But, Satan, I respond to you specifically because you’ve given the issue storyline background (of which I was unaware) as well as a possible (probable) reason for the casting change.

And now for some context of my own, in an issue I’ve addressed previously at this site, I was devastated by a casting change that occurred with GH back in 1977! Fan favorite Valerie Starrett, who originated and played the role of Diana Maynard Taylor (1969-1977) was replaced by Brooke Bundy. I was truly heartbroken by the change. This was before the Internet, of course, and information was hard to come by.

I later learned that Starrett was fired by a new GH producer because he wanted to change the character of Diana from a heroine to a villain and Starrett balked at the idea. Starrett was a beautiful, talented, popular actress whose storyline with Dr. Peter Taylor carried the show for much of the 70s. And yet, Starrett was unceremoniously dumped. Bundy stayed in the role until Diana was killed off in 1981. (I’m sure she had her fans, too.) Starrett left acting upon her dismissal in 1977, and her GH legacy has largely been overlooked since.

But Jamesj75 has not forgotten her… So when I read this story about the recasting on DOOL without a reason given, I was not only surprised because I was enjoying Keegan’s portrayal, but I was sparked to remember my favorite actress of all time, Valerie Starrett. (And I suspect some long-time posters are saying, “Here he goes again….”) But thanks, Satan et al. for indulging me!

I bet it all comes down to money: Isabel is willing to accept a smaller pay check than Olivia.

My question , too , Jamesj75.

Imagine my surprise yesterday when I saw a new Claire .My friend and I were wondering how come there was a new Claire,I am at a loss? What happened I mean Olivia just came back.I liked her it was good to see she did put some weight on.I hope she isnt sick or anything like that.IN any case will miss you Olivia.I dont get it

Accepting a new actor in an established role can always be jarring. In this case, I don’t think the wardrobe department is helping fans become accustomed to her by putting her in clothes I’ve never seen Claire wear, style-wise. What gives?

When is the head writer that made this show such a mess going to be fired the way Greg Meng was?

ReRon did a LOT of damage before they fired him from GH. He literally had to botch the exit story of THE most famous GH character in the show’s history, Luke Spencer, before they dropped the ax on him. The show is still recovering from the damage he did to other core characters (Robert Scorpio & Jason Morgan being two obvious examples). And sadly, his former partner in crime, Frank Valentini, is still there.

Agree & he has done his best at Days to destroy characters such as Steve & others while trying to make mediocre actors/characters (such as Justin & Rafe) relevant & they aren’t. Can understand why GV is leaving.
