DAYS Suzanne Rogers Delivers Star Turn In "Maggie's Choice"!

Courtesy/NBC
Isn’t it nice when a veteran Daytime Emmy-winning actress gets the chance to remind us all why she has been a beloved and a vital cast member of Days of our Lives for decades? That was the case again on Tuesday’s episode of the NBC sudser with Suzanne Rogers (Maggie).
The decision of who will get Daniel’s (Shawn Christian) heart all falls on to his mother Maggie. She is the next of kin, and she is out of a time to make her decision. Will she authorize Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) to give Daniel’s heart to Victor’s (John Aniston) grandson, Brady (Eric Martsolf) or to Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Roman’s (Josh Taylor) son, Eric (Greg Vaughan)?
Throughout the episode, Maggie anguishes over this no-win heartbreaking situation. In a scene where Rogers really shined, Maggie sits by her son’s bedside to try to get a sign or some courage from him, but most of all to tell him how much she loved him for the little time they had together. Rogers played a mother’s grief and heartbreak to perfection.
Later in the hospital chapel, Maggie tries to go through the options in her mind sitting beside her husband. However, painfully she realizes there is no choice that she will ever be able to live with. And as time is ticking down, Kayla tells Maggie she needs to let her know who gets Daniel’s heart asap. John (Drake Hogestyn) walks into the conversation and says he will give his heart to Brady, as if to simplify things, leaving Victor, Maggie, and Kayla in complete shock.
What will Maggie do? The smart bet lies that she would choose Brady, but tomorrow DAYS fans will find out how it all plays itself out.
So, what did you think about the performance of Suzanne Rogers on Tuesday’s DAYS? Do you think Brady will get Daniel’s heart? Share your comments below!

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Marlena Looks Back at 50 Years in Salem

The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.
To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE
From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run.
Paul thinks he is looking at 70s, and early 80s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall). Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.
In the present, Belle (Martha Madison) has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.
Back to the history lesson, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)
Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing her baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.
JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL
Then, in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been in, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice Horton, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!
The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunions in a soap opera love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE
When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills in Paul on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena comes back into the room and overhears, and says to promise her if things get dangerous he will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.
As the episode comes to a conclusion, it’s just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives, and that she is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.
An end card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena, and we fade to black.
So, what did you think of Marlena’s walk down memory lane? Were you happy to see the flashback clips utilized throughout? Were you touched by the scenes and the performance of Deidre Hall? Let us know what you thought of Deidre’s 50th anniversary episode via the comment section below.
Days Of Our Lives
Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

Photo: NBC
There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.
TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME
While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

Photo:JPI
The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Photo: NBC
Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

Photo: JPI
One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.
Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.

Then let us know, what is your all-time favorite storyline or moment in the life of Marlena over the past 5 decades? And, just for kicks, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, here is Marlena levitating below circa Christmas Eve 1994.

Al Calderon Reflects on ‘Major Chapters’ Coming to an End on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Brilliant Minds’

It’s been a bittersweet time for Al Calderon. The talented actor/singer/songwriter has watched from his vantage point to roles he loved so much come to their conclusion for different reasons.
In a heartfelt message posted to his Instagram story on Saturday, Calderon took a moment to share how grateful he was for the opportunity to play Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, and nurse Nico Silva this year on NBC’s second season of Brilliant Minds. Currently, Brilliant Minds has two more episodes that will air on June 24 and the series finale on July 1.
Calderon expressed, “As I sit here reflecting on this lovely Saturday afternoon over the last two years of my life, I have two major chapters closing that have been part of my life every day for the last two years. We have Brilliant Minds. Our last episodes are wrapping up, and then my last scenes aired yesterday as me as Javi on Days of Our Lives.

Photo: JPI
“I’m just unbelievably grateful for the chance and the opportunity to be a part of something so much larger than me,” continued Al. “I (will) love Days of Our Lives forever, my family. Thank you for supporting me and supporting my decision to take the leap of faith and believe in myself and, and tell other stories. You know, it’s never goodbye. It’s always ‘see you later’ to me and just leaving with love and leading with love.”
Al concluded with a special mention to some very important people, the fans: “Thank you to the fans and the support from everyone, the lovely messages. So this next chapter, hopefully it’s not a dragon, hopefully it’s a gold coin.”

Calderon’s journey on-screen on Days of Our Lives began in October of 2024 and concluded this month. In one of his last appearances Javi was asking a favor from Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) before bumping into his ex, Leo (Greg Rikaart). In story, Javi has a new romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo), while fighting his feelings for Leo. The role of Javi will be played starting on June 30 by Jacob Martinez who takes over the role.
NBC decided to cancel the Brilliant Minds, after it split up the airing of its second season which began in the fall of September of 2025 and the back-half started airing after a long break this past May. Calderon joined the medical drama staring Zachary Quinto for the new season, which sadly was its last.

She’s a brilliant actress! The past few shows have been amazing. I know some people have been moaning about too much death, but the acting has been superb. I’m looking forward to see how this all plays out. Days rocks!
I was one of those moaners but im old and we old farts moan a lot…lol…but what does make up for so much death is the great acting we get in return…Suzanne Rogers needs to give acting lessons to Days new teen cast.
Amen! I Suzanne Rogers) Maggie has always been a class act. I have loved her talent from the first time I watched her in 1982 when I got to stay home and not work anymore even tho I was young then I was waiting for a grandchild and my daughter in-law and I watched Days every day and still watching. I am not impressed with most of the younger actors but some will get better in years to come, so I LOVE seeing you bring the older actors back, even if it’s for a short time each time but don’t quit bringing them in the future off and on as they hold the show together. The older regulars are great and hopefully will stay for a long time. It’s hard to see the younger ones go that have been on for several years and decades in Peter Reckels ( BO) case. He was always a HUGE part in helping the show succeed with Kristian Alfonso ( Hope). So I will keep watching and hope for the best as you deliver the best actors that show promise and keep them. Best Wishes for the future! 🙂
Yep. She is what soap acting/characters are all about.
Years ago, I never cared for Maggie. However, Suzanne Rogers has truly won me over. Since I came back to Days in 2011, I’ve been very impressed by her. This past week, she has been phenomenal. And I agree about her giving acting lessons to the new teen set. Those scenes in Club TBD were absolutely horrifying.
Yeah the teens scene was awkward to watch. It was hair model central in those scenes.
Hopefully as the teens air a little more, they’ll become better. The only one I feel they might need to replace is Sierra.
She better win an Emmy this year.
She was amazing ! It’s nice to see and be reminded what wonderful actors there are on DOOL and that they can handle a front burner storyline.
Exactly what I was thinking. Nicole has been great too.
I am always in awe of Suzanne’s acting, and no more so than in today’s episode. She is perfection! Love her.
no matter how aching the drama is that unfolds… griffith and hegley took a tired , lazy way out on this story and its a travesty! daniel who s been written as a hero and had many near death rescues under his belt meets his end by a drunk driver?…….. who happens to be his best friend eric, who up until now was the male moral compass of the show who grapples with his priesthhod and yet suddenly s been hitting the sauce and drove behind the wheel drunk, something he never would normally do?….
calling out bullshit to the writing team! one character killed and another one s character was asassinated !… daniel and eric deserved better than this horseshit
You say horseshit, but you seem to have overlooked the elephant dung!
Eric became a boozer due to Serena’s betrayel and loosing Nicole.
*losing
Well not to mention they took a character who aired practically every day for years and turned him into a glorified extra. Then to add insult to injury, he’s killed off with no build up. I was never a Daniel fan but I do question killing off Maggie’s son.
I completely agree, damien; albeit, everyone gave his/her best. The actors gave a top-notch performance….admirable; all of them. I can do without Belle, though. Just too many femme fatales within this soap, who like to engage teens or guys not much older than that. C’mon, ye gods!!
So many twists and turns that just do not align with my sense of logic. I get that we are not to question the fine line between what’s real or not….it is a soap, afterall. But, how is it possible that three people who are friends, no less, happen to be in the same car accident and share the same blood type to boot? …..and, Victor could not find one from the international/national pool? We need to close our minds to that, I suppose. Everything happened so fast……a complete blur. WOW!!!!!!
Yes, damien….the sanctified Eric suddenly made such a transformation to be so down in the gutter, he is drunk as a skunk and gets behind the wheel with no one stopping him. I just hope this is it with the dying. I still haven’t recovered from Will’s death.
I see Emmy reel material here for Suzanne. I would love for Days to win some Emmys this year in the acting categories for their veterans. It’s about time! She has been absolutely superb and I am sure there is more to come. I think the writers are making a mistake with this many deaths, though, since they are all from core families. They are decimating the main families of Salem almost to the point of no return. Fans are not happy with all of the characters being killed off. There are other ways to create drama!
I could not agree more. These MAJOR characters killed off within weeks is way too much. I don’t get it. I can think of several unnecessary characters to get rid of if they feel the cast is too big or expensive. I think they have made mistakes.
It is not a matter of kin making the choice. It is a medical choice which patient is compatible with the donor. the show should be renamed The Death of our Lives.
It is a choice of kin with this situation because Kayla already said that both Eric and Brady are compatible for the heart. In that situation it is the next of kin that decides who gets it.
Next of kin are not generally medical professionals. The medical establishment would choose. Likely the recipient most likely to survive. I am guessing here. I am not a medical professional. I am tired of the death toll in Salem.
It has already been named THE DEATH OF OUR LIVES, I believe by Ces. Lol.
Wether next of kin is a medical professional or not has no bearing on giving consent. In Daniel’s case, yes, you are right. I asked my husband ….He said that if the donor is registered as ‘an organ donor’, then the medical staff does not need anyone’s consent. So, putting all that pressure on Maghie was just done to add drama and suspense to the moment. It is not done that way in real life.
You are also right in assuming that it is a matter of urgency which establishes what patient receives the organ.
Maggie
She is absolutely brilliant! We just don’t get to see enough of her acting ability on Days, but it was well with the wait!!!
She has been a favorite of mine since she first appeared in those farmhouse scenes with John Clark ex-Micky/Marty over 40 years ago…i remember her much deserved emmy win over 35 years ago and if she is not at least nominated for a long over due emmy for her recent performance there is definately something wrong with the emmy nomination system.
SR is great, Jimmy! I hope to see Maggie fall off the wagon because I wasn’t watching during her drinking DAYS. If Maggie doesn’t fall now, she never will.
Simply brilliant. Without over-emoting she tears at your heart. She is definitely the glue of the show, much like Francis Reed was.
Maggie Has Been Excellent In Her Role She Does Deserve An Award I Have Been Balling For The Last 2 Days I Am Crushed About Daniel And I Feel Sick For Nicole
I do not like the fact that the new writers are killing off all of our favorites. Especially ones that have been there for years. I mean seriously Maggie deserves to keep her son and Nicole deserves to be happy. I’m assuming she will end up pregnant with Daniels baby but still. Enough with all the killing. We have had enough. I’m not the only one. It’s getting old and I’m a little Leary right now that the new writers could be going into a “passions” phase which would be detrimental to days. So there are plenty of senarios that can happen here. Basically, you all need someone on the team that will help make decisions. Either way if you need any help anywhere contact me. Please. Thanks.
PASSIONS?? No way!!!!! Days could never be compared to Passions. That was the most extraordinarily off-the-planet, off-anyone’s-rocker soap that was ever in existence. The twisted mentality and obnoxious plot(s) should have never been afternoon fare. There was a character who had both male and female ‘parts’ with whom Julian had sex. In turn, that strange phenomenon, that freak turned out to be Julian’s offspring. Disgusting show…actually, it was a farce without beginning or end. Imagine having an orangutan as a nursemaid and changing an adult woman’s diaper…LOL. I never knew what to make of that show. A bunch of depraved deviants?
Days doesn’t even come close. Yes, I agree that the death of so many characters, close together, is disappointing and so contrived; but, no, Passions was in a league of its own.
I must say, Maggie and Nicole both deserve nominations.
I simply do not have enough words on my keyboard to properly convey how much I LOVE, LOVE Suzanne Rogers. Back in the day, I watched her very first episodes when Maggie, who couod barely walk on crutches, met Mickey/Marty Hanson on a farm. A few years later, Maghie had a drinking problem, and Rogers deservedly won an Emmy. She was the first actress to win in the supporting actress category in a daytime drama. Sadly, for almost twenty years she was wrongly relegated to back burner status. Finally, about ten years ago, she played a pivotal role in the Salem killer/New Salem arc of episodes- and she proved to be a remarkable talent, all those years later. Watching her just now I felt such awe and respect for her consistent talent. She is one hell of a gutsy lady. It must have been difficult to play on the sidelines for so many years. Yet, Rogers has such a wonderful loyalty to the show, and such a resilient, remarkable acting talent. I really hope Corday & company understand that Rogers, along with a few other vets, is truly what has kept Days on the air for all these years. Now, if they would just start writing again for Deidre Hall and keep up the front burner status for the equally remarkable Mary Beth Evans, all will be good. That, and getting rid of all those talent free teenager newbies. Those actors playing Clair and Ciara and Theo and Henry and the guy playing Aidan’s son- they need to leave Salem asap- Even a 24 hour a day acting coach will not help these watch- less, listless, non actors. (The only newbie with potential is the actor who plays Joey)
Nevertheless, I feverently hope that Suzanne Rogers gets much deserved recognition for her beautiful talent. I love this actress!
Can’t believe what you said about the teenage newbies! Last night trying to get to sleep & thinking about the show I had the EXACT thought. Joey is the only decent one. I cannot stand any of the others-they should not have aged them & that Chase kid needs to go to Chicago or wherever-Hope should not be stuck raising him. He does not need to go after Ciara romantically either, yuck. AND he is a bully. Now, did he kill his mother when he was little or did Aiden really do it? Is he a creep like Aiden? There are so many unanswered questions about the whole Aiden storyline. So he was a bad gambler(?) Why did the DiMieras want him with Hope so bad? I got off topic here, sorry!
she should get an emmy
Simply amazing … I felt her pain deep in my heart. She continues to prove that she has what it takes. She absolutely deserves an oscar for her performance. Love this storyline, all the performers have stood out. Way to go Days! This is why I’ve been a committed fan for 45 years.
This show is depressing AF. good riddance. Way too much death and gloominess. Ken Corday has lost his mind.
Again.. great writing and acting by the Days writing Team.. woop.. woop.. I have waiting so so many years for good writing to get back to this soap…Thanks!!!!!
Suzanne Rogers is almost always perfection personified. Never an overactor, always a class act. She portrays her emotions with great control and knows how to let go when necessary. When she backed into the wall in Daniel’s room and fell to her knees crying she brought it HOME. Maggie is a great character that is distinctly Suzanne Rogers. I don’t like the direction the show has taken but in the few moments that DAYS does shine it is usually brightly. Maggie and Nicole’s grief was believable and honest. Kudos for a job well done.
this is some serious tour de force and goldmine… to further nuance and layer Suzanne Rogers’ Maggie…
will their be further ramifications unforeseen… that will surface ?
Suzanne Rogers has always had in her; a ready arsenal
she never overplays her heartfelt love for family
the way she carries herself… her body language…
out of all the veteran cast… outside of Stefano, Caroline, Victor… it’s Maggie who has solidified for me… her portrayal of beaconing all that is DOOL…
dang it tho! isn’t DAYS production doing an outstanding job of featuring the cast … and ALL the A game…. going on!
I’m still astounded from Monday ep: this was all the recipe Serial Fans need… to know… that Days of OUR Lives is at the top of their game.
TREAT TIME
She and Arianne Zucker have been breaking my heart this week! It is almost too sad to watch. If they bring in little Parker to say goodbye, I will lose it!
I love Maggie. I would give the heart to Brady not because he is her husband grandson but because he is a Dad. His son needs his father.
I said the same thing-baby Tate needs him. And if Brady died that would mean that Victor lost his son Bo, his godson Daniel & his grandson Brady within weeks. That would be too darn much. And I saw that Maggie was impressed that Victor did not try to pressure her in any way by reminding her of that. She said it first. Plus the fact that Eric was driving beyond drunk-he looked like a rag doll behind that steering wheel. I wish to hell Nicole had taken his keys. And boy she is gonna remember the conversation she had with him when she told him to take a cab. That is gonna hurt.
Excellent performance, very hard decision to make. Emmy award performance
The best show I have ever seen on Day time soaps!
her performance was so heart wrenching that i had to actually stop my dvr a couple of times so i could compose myself – her acting was just phenomenal……………bravo!!
What a superb performance! Too bad they weren’t giving her the opportunity before this to shine. Any mother would feel tortured to be in this position. Since November, Days has been continuing to provide the fans with outstanding performances. Keep it up.
Suzanne has always made us go along for the ride on “Maggie’s” journey and does she ever make it worth watching all through the years!!! I have always loved the actress and character!!!
Yesterday’s show was great! So much going on, Chabby moments were riveting as well! Maggie of course, the highlight. And John walking in to say Brady could have his heart, well .. that was sad and heartbreaking, but what’s he gonna do, commit suicide? It’s a father’s grief talking, though, and it was real. This whole storyline is just the kind of thing we want from our soaps. Involves many characters and the repercussions are far-reaching.
She has been fantastic. I have always loved her and Maggie and was so glad when she got more story. I hope with Daniel dying it does not diminish her screentime.
It’s so great when they give a show to one of the vets. Suzanne Rogers was absolutely shattering in this show. Award worthy in any medium (but I believe not eligible until 2017).
She might be eligible for this year’s Emmys. In the past they had up until around mid-February scenes to submit so hopefully that is still the case.
Simply brilliant
One of my atll-time favorite actresses on DOOL. Suzanne’s performance was made even more effective by simple, small gestures. On Monday’s show, it was with great affect that she skidded down the wall crying as looked at Daniel lying in bed. Yesterday, her gasps as she was trying to hold back tears, her interaction with Nicole (the incredible Ari Zucker) and her facial expressions as Kayla talked to her about making the choice between Eric and Brady.
It has been an embarrassment of riches this year for the show, but I would love to see multiple names submitted for the Daytime Emmy Awards. I hope Suzanne is one of them.
Maggie was brilliant as was Nicole. Johns melodramatic announcement at the end made me laugh, perhaps the writers wanted to give us some comedic relief. Everyone is doing amazing.
I agree and he can’t just give his heart that anyway unless he goes and shoots himself in the head. It’s not like a kidney where you can give your extra one to someone else. lol
Oh, I agree. Maggie & Nicole are just superb. I thought the same about John-seriously John? What is your plan, ha. I haven’t seen today’s show yet. But that was really stupid of him.
I wish John would wear a paper bag over his head. At least, I haven’t heard him whisper, “Hey, Doc” with that annoying, gritty voice of his. He always has that same bewildered expression on his face. One eyebrow raised…just like Jughead.
CeeCee,
You are so right. I can’t stop laughing-thank you! I needed a laugh after watching yesterday’s show late last night-mistake-made for a bad night’s sleep!
I am happy with DAYS despite the wave of violence and sadness. This serial tells its stories in the most human way, much as daytime dramas once did. All four serials boast talents, but DAYS seems to make even typical melodrama more human. As P&G serials once did. I am sad many strong legacy characters have gone but at least they are not being resurrected by a nefarious family and its cryogenics, nor will they be returning from the grave. (I know DAYS can be guilty of being ‘out there’ as the others.) Life goes on. People come and go and turn down dark paths, make mistakes. The stories go on.
Thanks Iakovos
really nice read
there is a lot of gritty realism going on in Salem
beautifully portrayed by the cast as a whole…
collectively as a production…. Days of OUR Lives has risen new heights
THis one is heartbreaking maggie and nicole both deserve a emmy awesome job ladies! We love ya
Agree!! Both actress deserve some recognition for their work..Clearly Brady will stay in the show, since the actor that plays Eric is leaving..Greg should go back to GH and play Lucky..But then again, once Nashville gets cancel in the spring, it means the Jonathan Jackson will be back at GH in the fall of 2016..The CBS shows show hire Greg..He is a very talented actor.
The death of our Lives is killing everyone off. Soon, it will consist of screeching teens, whiny Theresa, stick figure Hope and a bunch of boring characters that cant carry a storyline. Way to go Days!
As usual, Ces, you are too funny; but on the money.
From what I understand, Kristian Alfonso was a chubby teen. I am not a psychiatrist, but I know enough to realize the reason for her anorexic look is psychological. Many people who have, or have had weight issues see themselves perpetually ‘fat’, thus, their gauntness. Either that, or she exercises like a mad woman. I see exactly what you see. She is a stick figure. It’s sad. I hope I am wrong.
The teens are hard to digest. Strange group….not typical teens. I agree with you. I FF when they come on. I agree with Gloria about Chace. He is a real turn-off. But, aside from the kids, everyone else gets my vote . Each is outstanding…..’Night, my friend.
CeeCee, I always value your opinion and comments!
I am probably harsh on Ms. Alfonso, but really, her very trim figure does not look good on my screen. I do believe she needs some help because she is withering away. Hey, we all went through puberty, she needs to realize she’s definitely not fat. I look at beautiful *Thin* women like Kelly Monaco and Finola Hughes who are thin but still look very healthy to me.. KA does not.
Anyway .. ’nuff @ that – —
I also don’t know this Belle. I only knew Kirsten Storms Belle because I quit the show for awhile. I don’t know what this character is about anymore. I don’t like the recast for Philip. JKJ was such a cutie, such a breath of fresh air and this one is the complete opposite. He’s hard and sorry, not attractive.
We’ll see who *goes* next.. the cast is slimming down in more ways than one 😉
Oh, I agree, Ces. This is such a delicate subject, it makes me question why no one says anything about/to Kristian. Her arms and face are skeletal….all indications of anorexia. Lord only knows what the story is. Our faces do go through changes as we age, but Kristial looks like a different person when compared to earlier pictures. It’s one thing to be naturally slim, but when it is forced or induced, it becomes a disease. I don’t think you were harsh at all. There should be more people like you to wake her up. Seriously, it is just too bad she looks so unhealthy.
And, yes, as much as I love JP Lavoisier (OLTL), he just does not make it for me as Phillip either. I was so looking forward to finally see him on a soap again, but I am not impressed, so far.
I don’t even recognize Days anymore. Later, Ces.
Especially if the camera adds 10 lbs. like I’ve always heard! Anyway, Hope’s hair is the best & she wears gorgeous clothes & jewelry. Kayla, Adrienne & Jennifer could take a page from her book for sure. They are so frumpy. OMG-the huge green dress Kayla wore New Year’s Eve! I had to back that up & look again-it was HIDEOUS.
@gloria.
Lol….one would think the wardrobe people could suggest the unique dress, right? But, Kayla has such a beautiful face, one tends to overlook much.
I think Suzanne Rogers and Ari Zucker have had amazing scenes this week and they should win Emmys for them. The actress that plays Theresa is doing a great job also. I just wish we could get some good acting out of Deidre Hall, she doesn’t seem to be showing much emotion.
I thought it was so stupid to have John say Brady could have his heart. It would have been something if he had just killed himself for Brady to get his heart.
I was really trying to watch Jenn Lilly’ take, as a young woman… who… with her troubled past… for the first time… finds Love… and her own family.. that truly do love her back.
it was wonderful to watch her facial expressions… along with her script…
she was struggling with her words… and it payed off… for me.
she’s a little loud… but… as time goes on… with nurturing… and trust… she’ll relax and take in and enjoy what she has….
a man and child “all her own”
I just thought it all fit in for her character… even with John listening in… as she turned and saw him… she didn’t say anything… but neither of them had to.. considering John and Theresa history… but… it’s all a reckoning that they both, will look after , Brady.
kudos to Theresa… come on girl… you’ve got that nest… now go and see gramma Caroline… she always makes you feel better
I haven’t been this excited about watching Days in a long time. I am loving every minute of it. Stuff is happening (not dragging along) and yes there have been deaths but things like this happen every day. And I’m glad they’re showing what organ donation can mean to a family and what a shortage there is of organs – in real life! The acting has been outstanding-Maggie, Nicole, and Abby. I use to not worry about missing an episode or two-now I can’t wait to see what’s happened! and I am NOT going to miss any episodes!! (I’ve been a fan since 1984!)
Suzanne Rogers has done an excellent job all week. I’ve been glued to her every word and movement. Bravo Ms. Rogers.
Since Eric would end up doing 25+ years in jail, and the fact his guilt would kill him over. a using the death of his best friend and seriously harming his pseudo-stepbrother – I’d just give the heart to Brady. Why waste a good heart on a man who wouldn’t be released from6 jail for a good long time; give it to the guy who has a baby at home. No brained to me.
And Suzanne has been knocking her scenes out of the park. With all the tragedies lately, I’m really seeing what good actors they have on Days!! very impressive !
