The annual Daytime Emmy Lead Actress tradition continues, when last year’s winner in the category, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), hosted the nominees for this year’s Lead Actress race.

Jacqui chose downtown Los Angeles Noam restaurant in the Ace Hotel for the locale.  In attendance were: GH Lead Actress nominees, Laura Wright (Carly) and Cynthia Watros (Nina), along with Days of our Lives nominees, Marci Miller (Ex-Abigail) and Arianne Zucker (Nicole). The Young and the Restless Lead Actress nominee, Mishael Morgan (Amanda) was unable to attend.

From the looks of it the ladies dined, had some drinks, and shared some laughs and stories while congratulating each other for a job well-done as they celebrate their nominations through the next few weeks.

The 49th Annual Daytime Emmys air Friday night June 24th on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

Um, no, that’s Cynthia Watros, a respected actress. Most people understand the difference between real life and what’s onscreen. You don’t have to like her character, but sheesh you can respect her work even if it’s not to your taste.

Yeah because everyone knows you never call a soap opera actor by the characters name. Get over it.
I agree with the comment of Ugh. I tried watching GH again this year and the boring portrayal of Nina was one of the reasons I couldn’t do it. I’m shocked to see that nomination.

it’s nice to read this… just the thought that so many “fans” ABSOLUTELY, just cannot stand any one who would come between the dullard Corinthos’ . i’ve avidly posted support… same “story” @GL .. when emmy winner Cynthia Watros… just nailed em all to the cross.. have it your way… with the likes of Robert Newman AND le grand Kim Zimmer… SHE DID IT. the writing.. hasn’t been “fair” giving (Harry) I love you. ^^^^ Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Carly! My problem with Marci’s work is that it is all angry scenes all the time: mad at Gwen, mad at Chad, mad at Gwen again. I vastly preferred Kate Mansi’s Abigail and do not understand why they just didn’t rehire her!

Patrick

when marci got pregnant… they readily hired back… Ms. emmy winner herself, Kate Mansi. the story went… I LOVE to the moon and back… the flight Marci Miller “went”. she wasn’t the obvious Horton VS. DiMera… stubborn child , Kate/ABS loves. like another post, Marci brought so much depth and meaning to being a women in love with a DiMera… I WILL acknowledge that Kate matured, and is still on par , “right” for the role… but it’s Marci, acting skillset and presence… is so caught, for daytime… and whatever she is hired. so she now has two kids.. She’s okay but I certainly don’t think she deserves best actress. Moreover, she dominates the show and inserts herself into every story line. I wish LW would take a long sabbatical so we can actually be happy to see Carly again.

Shrill, over-emphatic, horrible Carly? I only like her acting when she has quieter scenes – all that shrieking is beyond annoying! But the panelists often go for the scenery-chewing over-the-top performances…

I love Laura Wright and her character Carly and i also love Marci Miller in Days and was shocked and dismayed to learn she was murdered by Leo . I thought he was going to black mail her by doing what Esme did to Josh and record her a d Chad having sex . Never thought hed murder her. So since Marci is leaving i think she should get tge award . Arianne Zucker was also excellent as Nicole . Dont watch tge other two soaps.

Who said he killed Abby?

Satan

Well, in classic “motive, means, and opportunity” theory of criminal cases, Leo looks like the logical suspect. He was hiding in the closet (no pun intended) with a knife, and Abigail & Chad were on his “revenge list”. Obviously that’s too easy, and he didn’t really do it. But he might very well have seen who did. Because – unless there’s another secret passage to the tunnels located in that closet – Leo couldn’t have possibly made it out of that bedroom before the murder took place. And he was obviously “shaken up” by all appearances after the fact. So… Read more »

You make a lot of sense. I actually thought he ducked into the bathroom, and thought it terrible that neither Abby or Chad used it after. Closet makes more sense but he actually looked scared as he was holding his bag and fingering it like he was. For a while I thought he might have put her heart in there. After Gwen made her second call for help, I am going with her as the killer. Who else but Leo would kill for her?

I read that Marci is not available full-time. Days didn’t want to recast. They didn’t want to break up Chad and Abby. This way, eventually Chad can hook up with someone else.

I am rooting with all my heart for Cynthia Watros! (: To be honest, this is a category where I am only truly happy with two of the nominees: her and Ari Zucker. I will be sad if any of the other three win but I understand that the panelists only really see the reels and not the whole year’s worth of work. It’s just my opinion, so nobody needs to get upset about it. I just truly felt they are the two who did consistently great work and the other nominees ought to have been Kirsten Storms, Sharon Case… Read more »

Marci Miller may take the award to close out her time at Days, but I prefer Cynthia Watros take her second Actress award for GH. The fact that so many hate her character is a complete testament to her excellence. And her stint at GL as Annie will not be forgotten.

It is so interesting because I absolutely love and adore Nina! My sympathies are with her! Yes, she has done some really terrible things but hers haven’t been because she is just a terrible person. That coma and what came before it shaped her perception and she is still (as Cynthia plays her) a strong and remarkable and LIKEABLE female character! I love her friendships and I think Cynthia is AMAZING in this role!!!!

I’m totally with you, Richard. These nasty posts that claim Nina never takes responsibility for her actions are confusing her with Carly. Nina has apologized ad nauseam and tried to make amends. Carly never apologizes and continues to rationalize her despicable behavior to whoever will accept her lies. She yells at Brad for concealing Wiley’s parentage while she does the same with Willow. At least Nina tries; yes she has bad judgment but is not vindictive like Carly. I’m rooting for Cynthia on Emmy night.

You shouldn’t win a nomination for destroying a TV show. Guiding Light didn’t air in Hell, so I’ll take your word for it that she did good work there.

But the Parasite Nina is killing General Hospital. And nobody should get an award for that. It might be more Frank Valentini’s fault than it is Cynthia’s but she still shouldn’t get an Emmy for that.

Wow, we disagree a million percent! It’s Carly and Sonny that have harmed GH – and despite it the show is still the best of the remaining four shows. Nina is my very favorite character on all of daytime!!!!!

I stop watching GH in count of poor, pathetic, never takes responsibility for her actions Nina. I can’t stand the sight of her!!! GH writers should have let Peter August kill her off. The Nixon Falls storyline went on months too long! As did the Peter August storyline went on years too long. I don’t miss watching GH, even though I watch it most of my life.

This annual event is probably a lot more fun than the actual awards show. My vote is for Cynthia Watros since Sharon Case and Maura West aren’t nominated. By the way, did Ms. Zucker forget to get dressed? Her “outfit” is inappropriate for the occasion and reeks of attention getting.

Good thing you can’t hear me laughing my head off over your Ms. Zucker description. I noticed too and also how she toward over the others. Another thing that made me laugh was my not recognizing Marci Miller. I really thought she was someone’s nanny holding their kid.

I have been watching GH for over 25 years. I have to say, after all the years you get bored of Carly and Sonny, I agree that should shake things up every now and again but not quite sure I like the way it was done with Nina. Never the less, Cynthia has my vote because we aren’t supposed to like her character lying and scheming. Cynthia played the part and made people do dislike her, that was her job. So she did it well has my vote. Although I would have liked to see Maura West nominated, I think… Read more »

I’m all in for Cynthia!
At times I hate her, at times I love her. That’s’ proof that she’s a good actor! She really deserves the Emmy this year! She’s kinda carried the show! She’s the one who gave Carly any good scenes she’s had!
And besides, Cynthia is the classiest gal in the picture above!!

Sal Stowers Delivers The ‘Power Performance of the Week’ As She Exits Days of our Lives

You know the song and the adage, “Save the Best for Last”, well, that is exactly what Sal Stowers (Lani Price Grant) did, when she had viewers of Days of our Lives in tears during her final scenes on Friday’s episode of the long-running NBC soap opera.

Stowers, who along with her co-star, Lamon Archey (Eli), opted not to renew their contracts with the series, which then facilitated their exits. Thus, viewers were in for one last emotional ride during their departures.

Now, while Lani admitted she killed TR, and quickly got a plea deal, she was then ready to be transferred to an out-of-state prison facility to serve out her time.  While all of this happened in short order, for the back-half of Friday’s episode you needed to have the hankies ready. That’s because of Stowers heartfelt goodbyes with her co-stars, which also played out for her on-screen alter ego, Lani.

In story, Abe (James Reynolds) joins Paulina (Jackée Harry) and Lani in the Salem PD interrogation room. With tears welling up in his eyes, Abe hands Lani some documents to sign.  After she realizes what they are, Lani says, “You want to adopt me?” Abe says, ‘yes’, and lets her know that she’s his daughter in every way that counts.

After Lani and Abe share a tender moment together, Lani turns to Paulina and gives her the greatest gift – acknowledging Paulina as her mother.

Photo: JPI

Later with Chanel (Raven Bowens), Theo (Cameron Johnson), and now Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and Eli present, Rafe shows up to tell Elani that the transfer is done, and Lani can go to the facility in D.C.  That prompts Rafe to share emotional hugs with his two best cops.  It is then that Eli tells Lani he is moving to D.C. to be close to her.

Before Lani heads off, Paulina asks her to say it one more time.  Lani simply, once again, calls her “Mom”.  Elani’s twins, Carver and Jules are there as well, and Lani tells her children she is going on a little trip, but she will never, ever stop thinking of them.

Photo: JPI

The final moment of the episode has Lani and Eli giving one last look to their family collectively, before they exit the police station.

Throughout all of the goodbyes, there was never a false note delivered by Sal Stowers.  She always brought the strength, elegance, and determination of Lani Price to her performances, and this time, she did it with heartbreaking moments we will remembers for some time to come.  For all of these reasons, Michael Fairman TV names Sal Stowers work, The Power Performance of the Week.

What did you think of  Lani and Eli’s goodbyes to their loved ones? Sal’s performance? Let us know in the comment section below.

Rob Scott Wilson and Victoria Konefal to Exit DAYS as Ben & Ciara

After all the speculation and reports, it looks like #Cin may be taking it on the road!  According to multiple reports and confirmed by Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue on newsstands now, next week on the Friday, July 8th episode of Days of our Lives, it will mark the final appearances of Rob Scott Wilson and Victoria Konefal as Ben and Ciara.

However, while Ben and Ciara will be off the canvas on a new adventure, #Cin fans won’t have long to wait to see them appear on their screens again, when the following Monday, July 11th they will be part of the first episode of the Peacock limited-streaming series, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem Chapter Two.

According to SOD, the exits of the popular characters came about when Victoria Konefal opted now to stay with the NBC soap opera and to continue her desire to spread her wings and do other projects.

DAYS head writer, Ron Carlivati shared: “She (Victoria) really just wasn’t available on a regular basis, and in the way our show works and how you have to schedule people, it just became less feasible to keep her in that status.”

The head scribe also added: “The couple is so popular, you want them to have a happy ending. But then that involved writing Rob off the show, who doesn’t necessarily want to leave.”

There has been significant social media and internet buzz over the last few weeks that Rob will actually return to Salem as a new character.  Once such character being bantered about is that of Justin and Angelica’s son, Alexander Kiriakis,  Could that be the trick up the writing teams sleeve to keep Rob on DAYS, or is something at else at play and this is a red-herring?  Stay tuned!

So, what do you think of the upcoming departures on-screen of Ben and Ciara on DAYS? Comment below.

Sal Stowers On Final DAYS Airdate Shares: “What An Incredible Journey These Past Seven Years Have Been”; Lamon Archey Adds, “Days fans, THANK YOU! We made a SUPERCOUPLE & a SUPERFAMILY #ELANI”

That’s a wrap for both Sal Stowers and Lamon Archey and their on-screen alter egos, Lani and Eli Grant.  Today on the July 1st episode of Days of our Lives,  the couple exited Salem paving the way for the real-life departures of Sal and Lamon who are going on to pursue other TV and film roles.

On her final airdate, Sal tweeted: “What an incredible journey these past seven years have been. To all our #Elani crew and #Days fans thank you for loving and supporting us the way you did. We will miss you much, I will miss you. Xx”

Lamon Archey also added his own tweets, sharing: “#Days fans, THANK YOU! We made a #SUPERCOUPLE & a #SUPERFAMILY #ELANI”

In story, Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) had a special farewell for Eli, and Abe (James Reynolds) adopted Lani so he could be her father again, in very touching moments on the air-show.

Still the departures of Sal and Lamon, who became quite the popular duo as #Elani, will be a very big blow for the long-running NBC soap opera.  But in soap operas, you never know when your favorite actors or characters might return.

So, sad to see Lamon and Sal as Eli and Lani exit Salem today? Comment below.
