Tyler Perry strikes again with yet another soapy drama and this time it’s a spinoff of his popular series, Sistas. In the new show, Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sistas, look for LeToya Luckett (Greenleaf) to lead the ensemble cast. The series will premiere June 9 on BET, which is also the date of the 2025 BET Awards, and will be available to stream on BET+ the next day beginning on June 10th.

The cast also includes Dynasty reboot and Beyond the Gates recurring cast member Robert Christopher Riley (ex-Michael Culhane, and Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald, respectively).  Rounding out the cast are: Khadeen Indréa (Ellis Ever After), Porscha Coleman (Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!), Briana Price (Step Up: High Water), Jennifer Sears (Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Funeral), RonReaco Lee (Survivor’s Remorse), DeVon Franklin (Kingdom Business), and Donovan Christie Jr. (Tyler Perry’s The Oval).

According to Deadline, in story, Divorced Sistas follows five close friends — Rasheda, Geneva, Naomi, Tiffany, and Bridgette — as they navigate life, love and the challenges that come with divorce, marriage and dating. As they lean on each other through heartbreak and healing, their biggest test comes from within their own circle, challenging their loyalty, character and true bond of sisterhood.

Tyler Perry, shared in a statement on his latest project, “Divorced Sistas is a story of resilience and the power of female friendship. It is my hope that audiences will fall in love with these dynamic characters, and that they will be able to explore their own personal truths about healing and love in the process. I’m excited to launch this brand new show, and proud to do it on BET’s biggest night of the year and in their 45th year of programming.”

This is the second spinoff of the Sistas franchise following the hit dramedy Zatima, which was renewed in 2022.  Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sistas is created, written and directed by Perry, who also serves as an executive producer of the show and comes from Tyler Perry Studios, which is based in Atlanta, Georgia.

If you ask just how soapy this will be? Look no further than the series first promo set to Mary J. Blige’s hit track No More Drama which uses the sample of The Young and the Restless’ Nadia’s theme throughout.

Divorced Sistas becomes the first series in Tyler Perry‘s multi-year content partnership with BET Media Group, in what has been reported as one of the lucrative deals for a Black content creator.

THE 411 ON TIA AND KALISTA

Speaking with TV Insider, about their soapy experience in Fairmont Crest, Tabitha Brown previewed about her host with the most, “Tia is very professional, but she’s a girl’s girl. She is a protector of women and wants to tell their stories in a beautiful way, but she also wants to make sure they’re seen in a very good light.”

However, Burruss previews that Kalista arrives with a score to settle. “She’s spicy,” shared the recording artist. “I always love playing somebody that has come to start trouble. It’s always fun to play a villain of sorts, but Kalista feels like she’s been done wrong and she’s hurt by what she feels has been done to her. So Kalista is stirring up trouble, but she feels justified putting Dani on blast. Kalista is ready for some payback.”

Beyond the Gates is produced by CBS Studios, as part of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. Created by head writer Michele Val Jean, executive producers include Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey.

Beyond the Gates is broadcast weekdays on CBS (2:00-3:00 PM, ET/1:00-2:00 PM, PT) and is available to stream on Paramount+**.

MIKE MANNING’S UPCOMING PROJECTS

While Manning has his series regular role on Beyond the Gates he is also involved in a myriad of other projects including: his role opposite Nicolas Cage in the film, Madden and the upcoming Anthony Hopkins starring motion picture, Eyes in the Tree, which Manning is featured and also produced.

LGBTQ+ ADVOCACY

Mike first gained nation attention back on MTV’s The Real World D.C., now almost 17 years ago, when he came out on the reality series, which served as an example of early LGBTQ+ representation, leading to thousands of letters from viewers who felt connected to, or felt represented by his journey.
