Dominic Zamprogna Reveals He’s Ready to Come Home to General Hospital

Photo: JPI

GH’s Dante Falconeri has been off the canvas in Port Charles since he last returned very troubled.  It was then he asked Lulu (Emme Rylan) for a divorce and was headed out of town to get help for a horrific case of PTSD which began when he was in Turkey on a mission.

The actor who had portrayed Dante for all he is worth and then some is multi-Daytime Emmy nominee, Dominic Zamprogna.  Now, in a interview with ABC Soaps In Depth, he reveals he is ready to return to GH on-contract!

Zamprogna shared: “Frank (Valentini, EP  General Hospital) knows I am ready to come home.  I’d be totally open to a contract. There’s so much potential with the character and the story right now. With everything they’ve done since Dante’s been gone, there are so many options, and they’d all be fun to play.”

In a very candid moment, Dominic shared it was last September that he felt the urge to come back to the ABC daytime drama series, and even shared an emotional call with his on-screen father, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) about coming home.

Currently in story, Lulu has been seeing Dustin played by Mark Lawson, which could set up a triangle, if Zamprogna were to return to GH.

I never cared for Dante character.
why?
because of (hard to tolerate) Lulu.
Lulu is a stomach turner.
If he were to return to GH, I’d have need to FF him
when he’s with Lulu..
eeezzz Lulu is beyond annoying..

I have not missed the Dante character, didn’t notice he’s gone.

If he returns, I’m good with that
but-
if he’s involved with Lulu and brings her upfront, then
Don’t return- stay away..

I remember a step in for Lulu..
I don’t know her name, but I liked her, she was very good;
I want her back.
She was a great relief from the Emmy Lulu..
I was sorry to see her leave when Emme returned..
I read- not many fans like Lulu, this Lulu..

When Lulu and Maxie get together its like watching
two really annoying valley girls..
I waited for Lulu to giggle a loud ”awesome sauce!!”
EEEESSSSHHHH!

Yes, bring Dom back! And while they’re at it, bring Julie Marie Bergman back as Lulu!
I’ve never cared for Emme as Lulu. (Nothing against Emme, I just don’t like her Lulu and the friendship with Maxie isn’t the same either!)

Agreed that DZ is a really good actor. Dante should be brought back if they have a long term story arc for him. Dante was just gliding along he last few years on the show as the writers couldn’t seem to figure out what to do with him. Mostly police-related scenes, which we have Chase (and occasionally Mac) for. As they’ve dropped the potential Josslyn crush storyline with Dustin, the only connection for him, other than Lulu is Brook Lynn. He could easily be written out in one episode (a direction the show should consider for a few characters once… Read more »

Thank all that’s unholy. Bring Dante home whenever GH starts taping again. If they could bring the real Lulu back it would be even better, of course. And maybe once Dante comes back, they can finally reveal that Charlotte came from the same batch of embryos that Rocco did, and Val the Bastard was never her father. They already dropped enough hints that this was the case, but never followed up on it, as it wouldn’t have really served any purpose with Dante AWOL. I suspect Dante’s return to Port Charles will come with the sad passing of his grandfather,… Read more »

Thing is; Dante has an Extreme case of Complex PTSD (C-PTSD. It is curable.. it is manageable with ‘meds’ and life long treatment/like AA.. Dante could never be a police detective again, never.. He should not even be involved in the lifestyle of the Corinthos/Sonny.. In other words; unless he is portrayed as an actual C-PTSD/ the real deal high-level C-PSTD, Dante will be a joke. He will be living with a shadow within him and without constant care, he will go static. bwaa remember when ”Dylan” had PTSD? that was beyond phoney ((much like Sharon’s 90% family pampering cancer… Read more »

What about if/when Dante returns, Lulu stays with Dustin and Dante and Maxie hook up after the bastard Peter is finally outed for all he’s done?
Just a thought…I really don’t want Dante with Lulu anymore. She seems more suited to Dustin.

Nancy Lee Grahn Kicks-Off Her 25th Year as General Hospital’s Alexis; Thanks Fans & Shares: “What a Ride”

She’s one of the best of the best!  And on Saturday, Nancy Lee Grahn acknowledged the start of her 25th year as Alexis Davis on ABC’s General Hospital.

Nancy, who daytime fans first loved on One Life to Live and then Santa Barbara, came to Port Charles and quickly became one of its leading mainstays.

On Twitter, marking the occasion, Nancy thanked her fans with this: “Wow! I start my 25th year on  @generalhospital  today. What a ride. It’s been one of my greatest pleasures to be connected to & supported by such a beautiful, loving, loyal #gh audience. We are and have always been in this together. I hope you can feel my most sincere virtual hug.”

Currently in story, Alexis just lost the new love of her life Neil and on Friday’s episode of GH, Alexis was blamed for his death by Neil’s brother when she tried to attend his memorial service.  Later, she landed at the Floating Rib with Valentin – but when he got into it with Ned and stepped outside, Alexis ordered a drink.  Not a good sign for this recovering alcoholic, and all this came on the heels of Alexis learning she has osteoporosis.

Through the years, story after story, beat after beat, we are lucky to have Nancy on our screens with her consistently riveting and honest performances.

What has been your favorite Alexis storyline through the years?  And … make sure to wish Nancy a ‘happy 25th’ via the comment section below.

The Cast of General Hospital: The Alzheimer’s Storyline – Delivers The ‘Power Performance of the Week’

General Hospital’s depiction of the battle of Alzheimer’s disease and how it affects the dying, and the loved ones they leave behind, came to its heartbreaking conclusion this past week on the ABC daytime drama series.

Led by storyline standouts: Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Max Gail (Mike), who once again acted their hearts out in their final scenes together, the entire ensemble of actors who were part of this storyline each had their moments and each delivered which made Mike’s passing all the more poignant.

In a first since we started giving out our weekly kudos several years ago, Michael Fairman TV is giving our Power Performance of the Week to the cast of GH who participated in last week’s scenes for their riveting work.

From Laura Wright’s beautiful goodbye scene as Carly with Mike, where she dreams of him telling her she is a ‘daughter to him”, to Steve Burton’s all-knowing Jason, who tells Mike he will take care of Sonny and not to worry, to Michael (Chad Duell) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) picturing how key moments of their life would look with Mike being witness to it, and the advice he would give his grandchildren, to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) finding out that Mike is dying while being so far away from his family – each of these beats brought even more heart-tugging moments to the ending of Mike’s journey.

Even the actors who played a part in Mike’s care were touching as Vernee Watson’s Stella prepares Sonny on how to help Mike pass before saying her final goodbye to her friend.  Then there was Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel), who helped Carly and Sonny through Mike’s last moments at Turning Woods, who was also trying to keep it together through his sadness. Brando (Johnny Wactor) showed up at Turning Woods too, trying to make peace with the death he saw in the war in Afghanistan and now losing Mike.

Of course, there was the surprise moment where Mike is met by his late daughter Courtney and escorted to heaven that both Alicia Leigh Willis and Max Gail played so beautifully without saying hardly a word.

But in the end, it was Maurice Benard who showed us the devastation and acceptance of a son having to let his father go, while trying to make peace with their troubled past that was acting at its best, and perhaps some of the finest in his storied daytime career  – and there was Max Gail – the centerpiece of the storyline – who’s emotional heart was seen in all the scenes last week with the actors as the characters visualized moments with Mike.  Throughout the entire story, Gail played the tragedy of a human being trapped within this horrific disease with brilliance.  He will be missed.

So, what do you think of our choice of the cast of General Hospital for this week’s Power Performance of the Week?  Share your comments below.
