Donna Mills, Joan Van Ark and Michele Lee Developing ‘Knots Landing’-Themed Podcast
It’s been an exciting time for Knots Landing’s die-hard fans. Over the past few months, the entire 14 seasons were made available for viewers to stream on Prime Video and also on Plex.
The beloved CBS primetime soap opera ran from December 27, 1979 till May 13, 1993. Its iconic stars: Donna Mills (Abby, ex-Madeline, General Hospital), Joan Van Ark (Val, ex-Gloria, Y&R) and Michele Lee (ex-Karen) have kept the series alive through their various appearances together since the series came to its conclusion.
This past weekend during The Hollywood Show, Mills, Van Ark, and former All My Children favorite (who also appeared on Knots Landing as Claudia Whitaker), Kathleen Noone, took to the stage to answer some questions from those in attendance and to reminisce on their experience living at the cul-de-sac on Seaview Circle on the CBS drama.

Michele Lee, who was scheduled to be present, could not attend due to the LA wildfires, which precluded her from being able to make it over to the Los Angeles Marriott Hotel in Burbank, California, where The Hollywood Show was being held.
However, reports have shared that in an exciting announcement, the always busy Donna Mills revealed she has yet another project on her plate, which involves her beloved co-stars, Joan Van Ark and Michele Lee. Mills shared that the trio will be launching their own podcast all about Knots Landing in the near future. The idea came about largely due to the resurgence of fan interest in the series.

Speaking on the podcast, Donna expressed, “We’re just putting it together. I’m starting it, so we don’t exactly know when it’s going be on or where you can access it, but we’ll let you know.” Mills added, “It’s going to just be us talking because the two of them (referencing Joan and Michele) are crazy. It’s going to be a fun podcast.”
Joan Van Ark shared that the bond that everyone who worked on ‘Knots’ has, is truly unbreakable: “We were a family both on and off the screen, and that has ties that are deep and special and treasured.”
So, would you be excited for a ‘Knots Landing’-themed podcast with Donna, Michele and Joan talking about the episodes, their own behind the scenes stories and more? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
I’ve been watching the show on Amazon prime and love it so much and all the cast!!!!!
I can’t wait. My favorite TV show of all time
Yes, yes & yes!! Knots Landing was & always will be my number one favorite show!! I get Plex now & don’t know how long I will havel it but I found out it has all the seasons so I’m watching them all from the beginning!! I’m hoping one day I an afford the complete series on DVDt !! My ex-,husband & I even named one of our cats after Sid. but the cat was a girl so we had to change the spelling to Cyd LOL!! I hope you bring it back it’s on a national network!!! Anyway, thank you all for a GREAT show & YOU all deserve an EMMY!!
Yes! I can’t wait for the Podcast! Knots Landing is the best show EVER!!
It will be a hit for sure!!! Can’t wait!
Yes please do this! My husband and I watched it back in the day and just started watching it again.
Yes love to watch again
I would love for this to happen
Watching it on Plex … love the show and every one on … excited about the podcast!
Knots Landing was the best of the primetime serials. Lightning in a bottle!
It would be wonderful! Hands down the best nighttime soap of that era
I watched Knots Landing when it was on television and years later bought the DVD series of it, so I can own it myself. I loved it so much that hearing Joan, Donna and Michele speaking on it would be great!! I would definitely tune in to the podcast and wish them well!!!
I think this is a wonderful idea. I have been watching the Podcast Keeping up with the Camdens, that 3 of the cast of 7TH Heaven have been doing. Catherine Hicks and Barry Watson have guested, maybe Michelle could coax Pat Petersen to update us on what he has been up to. His children are college age now.
Great Idea!
I have been waiting a seriously long time to watch KL, because the whole set of DVDs were never available. I enjoy the series then and more so now!! Thank you Plex!!
Please let this happen. I loved this show!!!
Yes, for sure. Four years ago I broke down and got a “boot leg” copy of the series and now I’m on my second viewing since plex runs it. It’s so much fun watching the clothes, cars, hairstyles and plastic surgeries (lol) that have gone on over the years.
Absolutely. I love Knot’s Landing and have sat for hours rewatching all the episodes. I love Amazon Prime allowing us to watch this series again and do not want it to end.
Thank you Amazon Prime.
Sounds like a great idea! Still love that show, always will
Oh HELL yes finally SOMETHING after all these years. I know the series from front and back. Have had self recorded dvds of the entire series for years and couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve viewed …Karen’s addiction to Escandine, Val finally “coming home” with her question to Ben “is it still the red food and the green food? At the beach house…how are your orchids?”
Sooo many tear jerk classic moments. What an amazing FAMILY I found that always brings me home when watching.
Resurgence of fan interest?? There has always been a fan interest, just no ability to watch it r a true fan site. This series was such a part of my young adult life, I could hardly contain my excitement to watch it on Plex. I certainly would be interested in a podcast!
I loved this show, now I’ve been binge watching it.
YES!!!!
It’s so neat to watch this nighttime soap again. All the scandals that come about in the neighborhood. All the things that happen that would never happen now simply because we have cell phones is amazing.
Yes, I never listen to podcasts, but I would definitely listen to this podcast. Good luck, ladies. I used to copy your eye makeup, hairstyles and tried to copy your clothing styles from the show. My girlfriend, Anne’s husband traveled and my husband was a firefighter paramedic. They were always gone. Thursday nights there we were watching Knots with wine and pizza. Now we’re both grandma’s watching reruns.
Yes, Yes and Yes!!! Knot’s Landing is my daughter’s favorite, and mine as well.
I am binge watching on Prime. My Mom and I never missed it
These 45th anniversary celebrations just keep getting better. Streaming on two networks, the Hollywood fan show and now this. I’ll definitely be tuning in for this podcast.
Hopefully they’ll do what the Melrose Place gang have done and bring in the others for a chit chat such as Ted, William and Constance. OMG how cool would that be
Yes, I just rewatched all seasons of Knots Landing. It was wonderful to relive the time that I worked and raised children. I kept saying, “I wore that!”
The funniest part was the phones. Hard line only. Mack got upset with call waiting
Yes! I love to hear there’s a podcast in the works. I’m 60, and I started watching Knots when I was a teenager! I’ve been waiting and waiting for it to be streamed! Thank you PLEX! I’m watching it right now. Funny thing is, I’m watching it through the eyes of a seasoned, and mature woman, as opposed to the teenager! It’s like I’m watching a new show! I’m loving every episode! My fave has always been Karen! Loved her strength, assertive attitude. She never backed down from anything! She also has her genuine caring heart, for her family and friends.
William Devane waste best. Cool, calm, divisive, well dressed, power, womanizer, got all the females, showed emotion only once when Red went away to die, great acting with that scene listening to his wife on tape.
I’m excited to hear of the upcoming Podcast
I have started watching the entire series again, on Prime video. I look forward to the upcoming podcast & love all three of these ladies!
My favorite show from that era. I never missed it and was devastated when it went off the air . Loved the fact that they were down to earth average people living believable lives.
If I could look half as good as these beautiful woman in their 80s!! LOVE LOVE LOVE KNOTS LANDING. NEVER MISSED IT ON THURSDAY NIGHTS! I’m binge watching presently on Prime. The opening theme gives me goosebumps, the best TV theme ever!! I would definitely watch the podcast and can’t wait.
Best show ever. So excited that it is available to watch and I love the ladies! Can’t wait for the podcast. Abby was the female JR Ewing!
Yes!!! It would be great!!!! I just hope its gonna be available for people in canada
Paramount+ will be airing and Canadian subscriptions start at 6.99 cdn dollars
Yes I would love to watch a podcast by the fabulous knots landing ladies
YES, YES, YES!! It’s been awhile since a clean real show. I don’t watch today’s TV. Only the best from the past.
How are you defining “clean” ? I recall a very dirty moments in Knots Landing.
Yes! I’ve been burning through the seasons (Ciji is about to go bye bye) and reliving my love of this show over the past weeks. I would love to hear a podcast from these amazing women who live in my heart.
Yes!!! I am one of their biggest fans and never missed an episode. I will be anxious to hear the podcast when it comes out.
I watched Knots landing on Thursday nights, at 10 PM faithfully for 14 years I have been searching for a long time to see if I could stream it somewhere and accidentally found that it was on Plex!!!!!
Oh I’m watching the series now on Plex. Not too long ago I was searching where it might be playing but it wasn’t on anywhere but one day I was searching for something to watch and OMG there it was Knotts Landing talk about Excited!!! I’ve loved it ever since it first aired but I watched it and Dallas when they were both on!! And yes I would love it to be on Podcast. I’m so saddened tho that the actor a that played Ben just recently passed. I’ve got one question why did the show get rid of the 2 actors that played Kenny and Ginger after Ciji was killed they wasn’t on there anymore and it never explained why they was gone ?
I think the writers struggled to find a storyline that worked for those actors, and they were broadening the show beyond the cul-de-sac. I am about to watch their departure show again, but I do remember they were given a happy ending.
Om gosh! Yes yes yes!!!! I was so excited to see the show on Plex and I would Love to hear a podcast. Really one of the very best shows ever on TV!!!!!
Yes!!a
Absolutely
I’m watching it now he just blew up empire valley

Rosie O’Donnell Says She Will Return to ‘The View’ During its Season 30

Rosie O’Donnell revealed that she plans to head back to a seat at the table of ABC’s morning talk show The View.
The announcement came during Monday’s episode of The Tangle Podcast where she shared she will participate in “in whatever way they want” her or “just as a guest” for its upcoming 30th season.
The View’s season 30 will kick-off this fall in September. O’Donnell explained, “They’re bringing back all the hosts, I think. And, you know, I’m pretty proud of that show, what it’s become and how it really speaks to the people and to politics.”

Photo: ABC
ROSIE ON HER PREVIOUS GO-ROUNDS ON THE VIEW
As fans of The View know, O’Donnell famously had two different one-year stints on the talk show in 2007 and again in 2014- 2015. She often feuded with then co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
However, during her discussion with host, Kyle Ridley on The Tangle Podcast, O’Donnell also noted she often had tense moments with longtime moderator and anchor, Whoopi Goldberg.
O’Donnell also expressed, “Many, many people got the short end of the stick there. It was, you know, it was a factory where people were being churned in and out and their tenuous security, nobody got to be calm. It also was a show at the time that was run by a man. A show created by a woman, for women, about women, and the man was deciding what we should talk about. And that didn’t sit right with me, you know.”
Back in 2023, Brooke Shields had asked Rosie on her podcast, Now What? with Brooke Shields, about how she felt on her two stints at The View and all the controversy that surrounded it. Rosie at that time, stated, “I know this, it’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness. It was not something I’d ever do again.”
You can check out the clip with Rosie and Kyle Ridley discussing her return to The View in some form for its upcoming 30th season below.
Then weigh-in: Would you be excited to see Rosie, even for a one-day or a week guest stint on the upcoming celebratory season of The View, or not so much? Let us know via the comment section.

Television Academy and NATAS Open Reunification Talks After Split Almost 50 Years Ago

In what could prove to be a massive shake-up ahead, both the TV Academy (ATAS), who presides over the Primetime Emmys, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), who preside over the Daytime Emmys, are in exploratory reunification discussions to merge the two organizations into one.
Both sides received an overwhelming vote and support from their boards to evaluate what a unified Academy could look like. However there is no formal calendar at this juncture for the discussions. In addition, because of the ongoing unification talks that should occur, the TV Academy board has voted to extend all current sitting Governors’ terms by one year so they can see the process through.
Boards at both organizations voted overwhelmingly to evaluate what a unified Academy could make possible: a strong vision for the Academy’s future, more effective thought leadership for the industry, broader service and support for members coast-to-coast, and new momentum and opportunities across the full complement of national Emmy competitions.

Photos: ATAS/NATAS
AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS, CAN THE EMMYS BE UNDER ONE BANNER?
In a joint statement, ATAS and NATAS shared, “Television remains the most powerful medium we have to shape culture and prompt conversations that define us—no matter the size of the screen, With the business of television undergoing such a monumental transformation, this is the right moment to explore a reunification of our Academies, providing our members and our industry with a bolder voice advocating for them and a stronger partner to navigate the future with them.”
If the reunification talks continue, this would be the first time since the two Emmy organizations split back on June 30, 1977 that they have tried to come together, all of this after almost three decades of often uneasy and strained tension between the two.
The most recent joint change came in 2022 when a move of the game show categories went from NATAS to ATAS’ and now are in the Primetime Emmys.
Deadline notes that a unification of the two television academies who overall preside over nighttime and daytime programming would be similar how SAG and AFTRA used to represent performers from completely different dayparts of work.
Could the Daytime Emmys finally see some love in primetime and have their major categories televised as part of the annual kudofest every September? Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place live on Monday, September 14th starting at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT and air on NBC and stream on Peacock emanating from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. While, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will take place on Friday, October 30, time to be announced, live from the Hollywood Palladium and will be streamed on watchtheemmys.tv
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) is a service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Awards for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime and Children’s & Family programming, as well as achievements in television Technology & Engineering.
The Television Academy (ATAS) strives to shape and advance the dynamic television landscape; cultivate a diverse, inclusive and accessible professional community; and advocate for the television industry while capturing the spirit of a new generation of content creators and industry professionals. Through innovative programs, publications and events, the Academy and its Foundation foster and empower storytellers. The Academy also celebrates those who excel in the industry recognizing their achievements through awards and accolades, including the renowned Emmy Award. Membership in the Academy is open to working professionals in the television industry.
So, would you like to see the Primetime Emmy and the Daytime Emmys fold into one show if the two unions reached a unification arrangement? Do you hope that after almost 50 years, the two organizations can finally make some serious headway? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
