DWTS All-Stars Finale: Did GH's Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy Get Your Vote? Are They Really More Than Just Dance Partners?

Courtesy/ABC
It was ladies night in the ballroom as General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco (Sam), television anchor and former cheerleader, Melissa Rycroft, and former Olympic champion, Shawn Johnson vied for the Mirror Ball Trophy in the Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars final round.
Tonight the gals and their dance partners had to perform a routine they previously performed earlier in the season and then had to “wow” the judges and the audience at home with their Super-Sized Freestyle creation!
In the first round, Kelly and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy performed the paso doble hoping for their first set of perfect tens from the trio of judges. A small slide by Kelly out of a turn knocked down judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s score Kelly and Val a 9.5, while Bruno and Len gave the sexy duo perfect 10’s. Meanwhile, Melissa and her partner, Tony Dovolani performed the samba, where afterward Carrie Ann Inaba tells Melissa she is jealous of her abs, while Tony reminds everyone that he has waited 14 seasons to be a position to win the Mirror Ball Trophy. The judges give Melissa and Tony all 10’s! Finally, showstoppers Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough decided to go with the quickstep again. This was the dance that they got harsh scores from the judges for breaking the rules. Shawn and Derek say they are here to entertain more than thrill the judges and thus had points deducted once again and scored a 27.
In the Super Sized Freestyle round two, Kelly and Val danced to “I’ve Had The Time Of My Life” from Dirty Dancing with Kelly doing aerials, Val serenading her to a violin, and a choir! Kelly and Val showed their undeniable chemistry on the ballroom floor, while the emotions of their time together during the competition was a driving force in their performance. runo says, “Patrick Swayze would be smiling down at you.” Len and Carrie Ann also liked it, and once again they scored a 29.5. However, when Kelly and Val went to wait for their scores, DWTS All-Stars co-host, Brooke Burke-Charvet tried to eek out of Kelly what is going on in the relationship department between Kelly and Val. Monaco teased, “There’s still another day of interviews.” So will Kelly and Val admit to something tomorrow in the press? Or, do you think its a big tease?
Meanwhile, Melissa and Tony perform a contemporary Super-Sized Freestyle routine which showcased Rycroft’s extensions, grace, and abilities. They get a perfect 10’s from all the judges leading many now to believe they are the couple to beat in the competition, but do they have the fan base? Shawn Johnson brought in the Fierce Five – the woman’s U.S. Gymnastic team for her routine- and when Johnson took to the floors with Derek Hough and the gals it featured a lot of somersaults, flips, and circus rings, and Hough’s creative choreography. They score a perfect 30!
So soapers, did you get vote for Kelly and Val? Did you show them the power of the soaps fans? What do you think is going on between Kelly and Val? Do you think it’s all just for PR? Or, is something more going on between them? And the big question, who do you think should win the Mirror Ball Trophy? Let us know!
I voted for Kelly and Val, their chemistry is so hott. I believe that they will turn out to be more than just dance partners. I mean, come on, you don’ t just suck on a lollipop then put it somebody elses mouth if you’re not already swapping spit with them. Lol
i don’t know if they are more than dance partners & frankly i really don’t care BUT all the kissing, touching & feeling all over kelly that val does when they are being interviewed is just exasperating……………….ijs
I’m Proud of the amazing job Kelly Monaco has done on DWTS! Her performance last night with Val was Beautiful and Outstanding! And I can’t help but want there to be something more than just dance partners and friends. Everyone loves a good soap love story and this has been one of the best!
I think Kelly should come in third. I agree with Len that her choreography for her freestyle was unoriginal. It was like they took the moves straight from the movie. I expected more and was disappointed. Still, Kelly danced it well and has done well all season to get to the finals. But no, she didn’t get my vote.
I definitely think something is going on with Val and Kelly. Their dances were very good, but I am not sure they will be the winners. I think Shawn and Derek are far better, and have shown that throughout the season. Since I work at DISH on Monday nights, I always have to wait until the morning to watch DWTS. With my DISH Hopper, I can use Auto Hop since DWTS is recorded with the PrimeTime Anytime feature. I get through DWTS in less time, since it skips over the commercials for me, and I still have time to get the kids off to school. Shawn and Derek’s freestyle dance was the best I have seen throughout all the seasons. All of them are amazing dancers, and whoever wins the Mirror Ball trophy definitely deserves it.
Kelly and Val to win!!!
As much as I love Kelly & Val and have been rooting for them all season, that freestyle to cheesy “Time of your Life” was not the greatest most orginal thing I’ve ever seen. I think they really needed to come out and do something fast and exciting for their second dance. Just loved Shawn & Derek and hope they take it all; they are thrilling to watch and I smile when I look at their dance routine.
I think Kelly and Val deserve to win. Their attraction is real but I think they’re playing it up for the camera. After this is over, they’ll tell everyone they’re just friends. Shawn’s performance was a mish mash of all of her dances and the same old, same old, not impressed by her at all.
I am so proud of the journey that has taken Kelly and Val to the finals, which they so deserve, and I think they make an adorable couple, and hope that they are, but I think they are truly good friends. Either way, what happens off the dance floor is their business, but I wish them much good luck tonight!!!! I would love to see them win, but I do think Melissa and Tony were also incredible.
I loved Kelly and Val last night, and voted for them. I did not like the freestyle dances that were done by the other two contenders. for the trophy!
unfortunately I didn’t get to vote!! I got home at 12:25AM so couldn’t phone vote, tried to vote on line but kept getting busy server messages… and same thing this morning and then got ‘voting is over’
why do they only do phone voting during the show and 1 hour after? It’s not like you can vote more than what they allow you to, and in my time zone that phone voting is over while the show still on (after the rest of you go to fall back time), which is crappy.
but I wanted to give Melissa all of my votes!! I think she was the best dancer, of these three, Shawn was the best athlete/acrobat… Kelly and Val deal is nauseating and their dancing/following instructions/and going all out on freestyle was hit and miss. That flaminco was paso double – even I could tell that, and copying a dirt dance wasn’t very original, it was nice, but now like “wow! they took a chance and did great” That’s what Melissa did.
of course, I really thought Gille would be on the final. *sniff* * sniff*
Question: Where does Kelly’s “friend” Heath, fit in during all of this romance on and off stage? He is there every week to support her. If I were him I would think the show that Vally are putting on in front of the cameras is just a little too much too take.
Kelly and Val should win

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
