Remember Brandon Walker from Days of our Lives?  Nicole’s (Arianne Zuker) sexy brother?  Well, Matt Cedeno who spent some time in Salem has just landed a recurring role in the upcoming Lifetime series, Devious Maids from Desperate Housewives creator, Marc Cherry and co-starring AMC alum, Susan Lucci!

According to Deadline.com, Cedeno along with Melinda Page Hamilton are late casting additions to the dramedy soap.  Both are expected to be featured in the tweaked pilot and will be upped to series regulars if the series gets renewed for a second season.

Cedeno will play Alejandro Reyes, a successful recording artist.  In story, when returning home after three long months on tour, Alejandro just wants to lounge by the pool — while behind his back, Odessa (Melinda Page Hamilton) and the new maid Carmen are maneuvering themselves for Total War.

As previously reported, Devious Maids follows the lives of five maids with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. It stars Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez as well as Susan Lucci.

So will you be checking out Matt on Devious Maids?  Let us know!

Definitely can’t wait for the show because I know it will be great with Susan and all the other people in the cast that are in it. It sounds like a show we all should watch. Good luck to everyone.

The rich Latino character is a devious ploy. It’s a smokescreen to detract from the obvious racism of this soap w/c cast all Latina actresses to portray the help. This soap is a version of “the Help” w/o the racial segregation issues and yet this soap discriminates against racial minorities! Now hollywood’s all for racial diversity among the leading ladies bec they’re going to potray the help. How offensive! This is right up hollywood’s racist alley. Majority of the Latino characters have to be poor and doing menial jobs as the help while the white characters are rich. hollywood always has to have the white characters above the minorities. I’m guessing these Latin characters are going to be hypersexualized and the reason the writers will use is bec it’s a soap. hollywood loves to disseminate those kind of stereotypical images regarding Latinos like high birth rate and many unwed mothers bec it’s part of the hypersexualization. Hollywood loves to hypersexualize blacks and Latinos while asexualize Asian americans thus being white becomes the “norm” and the white establishment is portrayed as the ideal. This soap is going to get a lot of support bec Eva Longoria’s behind it. She was instrumental for the politically liberal and progressive causes of hollywood and she is going to be rewarded by hollywood. Too bad she had to throw her own community under the bus by casting all Latina actresses as the help. Racism as usual from hollywood.

Uh, you do know the majority of the “help” in Beverly Hills and other rich suburbs of Los Angeles are Latino, don’ t you? There are very few black housekeepers and maids now (and they used to be the majority). How is this show perpetuating a stereotype of racism when it’s actually going on?

To Mitchell1660: Uh you do know that Asian americans have higher education accomplishments and graduation rates than whites? And that Asian americans have a higher median income than whites? And that according to the LA Times only 40% of americans are among the professional and managerial roles as compared to 50% of Asian americans who are part of professional and managerial roles? Therefore shouldn’t there be a majority of Asian americans among corporate and academic and medical tv shows? Shouldn’t there be more Asian americans among soap operas w/c are abt the wealthy? That should be realistic but of course hollywood won’t portray racial minorities flatteringly bec hollywood’s racist. Obviously there are rich Latinos among LA and there are white women that are the help but hollywood wouldn’t dare go there. hollywood has to preserve white privilege and suppress racial minorities to preserve the white establishment and propagate racism. It’s quite pathetic how hollywood claims to be abt “diversity” when they love to bash racial minorities. The only minority group that hollywood really is for are white lgbts bec they’re the “right kind of minority” for racist hollywood.

Michael E Knight auditioned 4 Mark Cherry but I guess he didn’t get a part. I wish he he was going to be on this show. That would really give me a reason to watch.

‘Days of our Lives’ Producer Files Lawsuit Against Sony Pictures Television

In a breach of contract and fraud complaint filed this morning, Corday Productions, the Producers of Days of our Lives, is seeking 20 million dollars in damages from its producing partner, Sony Pictures Television, as well as its Columbia Pictures and Screen Gems divisions, and to significantly take back control of the show.

In the 33-page court filed document this morning, Deadline.com noted some of the key points contained within.  Corday Productions is alleging that Sony has treated the show unfairly skewed in favor of its Sony-owned daytime drama series, The Young and the Restless.  The complaint indicates that, “While the domestic ratings for Days of Our Lives have remained largely constant, Sony’s distribution receipts have decreased by over 50%. This dramatic decline is directly attributable to a decision at the highest levels of Sony management to eliminate any competition to its own wholly-owned series The Young and The Restless also distributed by Sony.”

Sony Pictures Television distributes Days of our Lives in overseas territories, and in ancillary markets such as digital streaming.  The DAYS suit alleges that Sony has failed to sell the show in key territories including: Great Britain, France, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Canada, France, Zambia, and South Africa.”

In the lawsuit, the producers also claim that Sony has stiffed them by forcing the production company, Corday Productions, to absorb budgetary deficits . The filing also claims that Sony is “imposing solely on Corday the burden of absorbing the multi-million dollar annual operating deficits due to an inadequate NBC license fee and mandating an inefficient, costly production schedule.”

The complaint filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, also alleges that Sony has provided Corday with inaccurate accounting and has failed to pay millions of dollars in profits.
