Eileen Davidson Looks Back At Ashley’s Life & Times As She Says Goodbye To Y&R
The time has come for fans of The Young and the Restless to say their goodbyes to two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Eileen Davidson.
The popular daytime star is exiting her role of Ashley Abbott, a part she first came on to the Genoa City canvas in back in 1982,
CBS.com sat down with Eileen, where they showed her some key scenes and moments from Ashley’s past and got Davidson’s honest reactions to the clips.
From Ashley’s changing hair styles through the decades, to finding out her bio-dad is Brent Davis; a plot that has been a huge ordeal over the years for Ashley, and more, Eileen relives them, and ends the video with a special and emotional farewell to the fans of the show. You can check it out below.
Will you be sad seeing Eileen’s final episodes on Y&R? Share your thoughts on her upcoming on-screen departure in the comment section.
Eileen Davidson! What will we do without you? I wish you nothing but peace & happiness. It shouldn’t be hard to obtain with the loving husband & family you have. Maybe it will free you up at some point to come back on RHBH? One can dream…much love to you for all you’ve given of yourself throughout the years in giving Ashley life. No one can take your place onscreen or in our hearts!
Love you in the Young and the Restless. Been watching for over 30 years. Please don’t do those reality shows, please, please please … You are too classy for those trashy shows.
Eileen and Ashley are going to be missed.
I never liked Ashley. She was a condescending bitch lol really she has always irritated me.
I didn’t FF her nor do I hate her she was just someone I would slam the door on or throw her out the window LOL !
Many love her, it is true they do, and they will miss her.
So, to those- sorry you’re losing her.
suOOO…you are so right on!!!!! I (also) never liked Ashley. To me, Ashley was always so overly-moral, preachy and self-righteous…BEYOND YUCK!!!!! SAYONARA!!!!!
Have a good one.
su000…oh, I agree. I am NOT SAD to see Ashley go!!!!! SAYONARA!!!!!
Have a good one.
I was made at Kyle for being brain-dead..
He should have locked the door and shredded that contract !
and– the shredder not plugged in, in an office no way..
and he sets it on the desk the whole scene was brain-dead..
I hope Ashley never gets one cent I am so mean on her but I really don’t like her so it’s
ok to be nasty mean on her.. LOL
Bingo. You’ve stated exactly how I’ve always felt about the character of Ashley. Never wished she’d be written out or the actress to leave but, not saddened the character is exiting, again….for now.
Only 8 more days and she’s gone!
Wednesday Oct 31st, Halloween is Ashley’s last day on our screen ! 🙂
I’m going to be very up popular for this post. I wish she would return to the role of Kristen DiMera on Days. Stacy Haiduk is good; but, I feel Eileen adds a special touch of “aristocratic arrogance” that I loved in the character.
How would You be unpopular? That is what everyone thinks. SH is just a mere placeholder.
Eileen, your hair has always been beautiful no matter what style at the time…YOU will be missed and don’t forget that YOU are a BEAUTIFUL, CLASSY lady…I wish you nothing but the best and don’t forget if you decide you want to come back we will accept you with open arms, much love always…Forgive me for pointing this out on the clips that you shared, I SO MISS the BEAUTIFUL and CLASSIC background music the show once had…Eileen, it’s like YOU leaving, Y&R won’t be the same without YOU and the show isn’t the same since the powers that be did away with the ONCE CLASSIC BEAUTIFUL background music…
Eileen Davidson is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in Daytime Television, IMO. I also loved her as Kristen Dimera on DAYS. I will miss her.
Nooooooooo
Eileens biggest fan here!
Followed u since day 1 on y n r , loved ur triangle with Nikki and Victor!.. u n eric were so tender and sweet to eachother. He hated your brother and wanted Jabot but you were the one holding him back!
You brought out the gentle side in him. …and when you found him in paris it was magic!. You and Jack have the most complex bro and sis relationship on tv, nevermind daytime! He will always be your best screenpartner and vice versa for ‘ash and jackie’!
Your sendoff has been a revelation for your character and when you shared the abott living room scene with Dina and blamed her for taking everything away from you it was like decades of full circle coming together!
I watched you on days and even real housewives but you will be sooooo missed as your signature heroine roll of the vulnerable yet strong chemist Ashley Abbott!!..
Come back soon. Ur numero uno fan
They FINALLY give Eileen some meat to chew on and she is gone! I want to see Ashley’s reaction to Dina’s gratitude towards her and her lifetime security blanket. Also, when Dina dies, Eileen has to return!
Daytime losing Eileen Davidson is a downright shame. As this past year’s contest for the Daytime Emmys shows, Eileen is one of the best — if not THE best — actors the genre has left; I don’t know any other performer who could take Y&R’s whispers of a character arc for Ashley and turn it into Emmy gold. And has been demonstrated, there are precisely zero actors who can come close to achieving the subtlety, texture, balance, and humanity that Eileen Davidson brings to her Days characters.
I know some people interpreted Eileen’s departure as a retirement announcement, but I never really got that sense. Of course, I could be wrong, but this seems to be about what it always is about these days: accomplished actors being expected to take awful contracts while the show overdoses on newbies (who will leave the genre the first chance they get) and the same 5-6 writers, producers, and other powers that be who have demonstrated they lack the skill to attract a modern audience. I hope one of the soaps realizes the powerhouse we are losing and corrects this error. If not, I hope Eileen finds or creates work worthy of her presence and talents.
I am hoping that this will be temporary leave for Eileen Davidson and that she will return to Y&R in the future. I grew up watching her portrayal as Ashley Abbott and will miss her greatly. Best wishes to her.
Eileen Davidson has been mesmerizing the past few weeks. It’s the first time in ages I have been trying to watch every day — all for her and the Abbott drama. She will be greatly missed.
OH, she is so good in this clip–waxing sentiment while utilizing humor. What a talented beautiful woman. While I have been angry with Ashely as of late, I always loved Eileen Davidson. I hope she comes back to Y&R one day soon.
Me, too, Harry! Even though i haven’t watched Y&R in an absolute age, I still retain only the fondest of memories of Eileen Davidson and her Ashley. I still vividly recall when she burst onto the Genoa City scene as the newest Abbott family addition, and how she was a perfect sibling foil to the late, great Terry Lester’s fabulously roue’ big brother, Jack and his oft-sleazy antics! Oh, those were the days….
So heartbreaking to say good bye to such a wonderful actress and person! Eileen is Ashley.
Eileen Davidspn – GOOD LUCK WITH THE NEXT CHAPTER and thank you thank you thank you so much for being so wonderful to us all!
Have watched Ashley from the beginning. Will miss her but a break would also be ok. Her character has always been a great addition to the show.
I cannot really imagine A Young & Restless without Ashley! Please come back
She sure will be missed by so many, both the actress and the character!! Sad to see her go and I hope they don’t recast her.
Thank GOD Eileen Davidson is leaving the Y&R for Good. I never liked her Character or her. Bye from Canada
I’m so thankful that I had parents that taught me respect & kindness for others. ✌
I’m happy she’s going! She just destroyed single handily her father’s legacy! She has been such a bitch this last year and acted like a spoiled little brat. She used to have a level head and was classy but the writers made her a villain! Come back when you find your heart!!

A AND MARCY’S DESIRE TO WORK TOGETHER AGAIN
In a moment that brought joy to those in attendance, A and Marcy both expressed a sincere hope and desire that one day they can work together again. Martinez explained, “There’s more avenues to pursue now than there have ever been. I would say just keep a good thought for it. I’ve been holding it for decades, and I fully intend to do whatever I can to make it happen. We’re engaged in trying to make it happen. And you know, we’ll see. I know we both want to do it.” Marcy simply nodded and responded “Amen.”
Melissa Braverman shared with Michael Fairman TV, her sentiments on hosting the Santa Barbara favorites. “Seeing A and Marcy together again, even virtually, was an absolute gift. It instantly reminded all of us why we fell so hard for Cruz and Eden in the first place. Their undeniable chemistry leaped off the screen and straight back into our hearts, proving that the magic they created all those years ago hasn’t faded one bit. Sharing in equal parts laughter and tears felt like catching up with old friends. It just meant the world to see them side-by-side again and to see how this incredible fandom showed up for Marcy during such an important time for her.”

‘Days of Our Lives’ Officially Confirms Ryan Quan Returning as Co-Head Writer Beginning in July

There is definitely a shake-up going down at the writing team at Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. Now, the long-running soap opera has confirmed, what has been previously reported, that current General Hospital breakdown writer, Ryan Quan is heading back to his old stomping grounds in Salem. This time as the series co-head writer.
The appointment of Quan comes with the official news that current co-head writer, Paula Cwikly, who was previously rumored to be departing the series, is not. She is staying with the soap opera and transitioning to a consultant role with the show. Now, Quan will join current co-head writer, Jeanne Marie Ford to steer the ship for the characters on the canvas.
On Wednesday, TV Insider, reported the official confirmation and that Quan will return to DAYS next month in July. In a statement to the outlet, executive producer, Ken Corday expressed, ‘We are lucky to have Ryan back in the fold. There are very few people who have such a deep knowledge and understanding of our show’s history. Stay tuned!”

THE FUTURE OF DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Since Days of our Lives unusual production schedule tapes ten-months ahead of air, the new creative team’s vision led by Quan and Jeanne Marie Ford are not expected to stream on Peacock until mid-2027.
Days of Our Lives is currently renewed through its 63rd season. The former NBC soap opera which transitioned to Peacock in September of 2022, celebrate its 60th anniversary in November of 2025.
The writing regime change comes after NBCUniversal Media Chairman Matt Strauss revealed that Peacock is expected to turn a profit for the first time in the current quarter, punctuating their investment with the enduring soap opera on its platform.
As for Quan, his knowledge of Salem is tremendous. Ryan joined Days of Our Lives as a writer’s assistant in 2007 after some time over at Passions. He then spent two decades and held every position on the writing team where he previously served as co-head writer from 2016-17 alongside Dena Higley.
Later, when Ron Carlivati took over as head writer for 7 years in 2017, Quan became his right-hand man and main story consultant for his deep knowledge of the history and the legacy of the show. After Carlivati exited the show in 2024, General Hospital hired Quan in 2025.
So, what do you think about DAYS making it official with Ryan Quan as the new co-head writer of the series alongside Jeanne Marie Ford. What do you think about the fact we won’t see the changes on-screen till 2027? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order

In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.
The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

Photo: ABC
In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS
The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.
Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear. The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.
It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.
So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
