Eileen Davidson On If She Would Ever Go Back To DAYS: "I'm Open To Anything"

Television viewers right now are getting a double dose of Daytime Emmy winner, Eileen Davidson both on The Young and the Restless where she plays Ashley Abbott and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills where she plays … herself!
Now that recently named Y&Rhead writer Sally Sussman has plans for many of the characters in Genoa City, many are wondering what is the plan for Ashley, after several potential romances have gone south – the last one with Simon Neville (Michael E. Knight) and the one before with Stitch (Sean Carrigan).
In a new interview with TV Insider, Davidson weighs-in on the what she hopes for Ashley moving forward, and if she would ever consider a return to her Daytime Emmy-winning role of Kristen DiMera on NBC’s Days of our Lives. A role that has given her great story and where she has turned in tour de force performances. Here are just a few excerpts from the feature below!
Eileen on Ashley’s romantic life and story: “I have faith Sally (Sussman) will make something happen. In the meantime, Ashley is yelling a lot at Jack and Phyllis. And she’s giving the stink eye to Gloria. So she’s back in the groove. And there’s some really interesting business and family stuff going on. The writing has so many more levels now. Sally likes to go deeper. She likes to push the envelope and I appreciate that. I would love it if she did something completely different with Ashley, which really hasn’t been done in decades—not since she had an abortion and lost her mind over her baby with Victor.”
Eileen on if she would consider returning to DAYS if the opportunity arose: “I’m open to anything. I have extreme amounts of love for Salem and for my character, Kristen, and feel very loyal to that show. But Y&R is my job right now and I wouldn’t ever want to do anything that pissed anyone off.”
So, would you like to see Eileen back in action on DAYS? Would you prefer that Y&R gives her a storyline worth her talents as Ashley? Comment below!

Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

Please bring Kristen back to Days!
ED is so much better on Days. Unless Ashley is going crazy, been stricken with amnesia , or having an affair with Victor she is a boring. Extremely boring. She’s beautiful but a waste on Y&R.
I’ll never understand why Sally named her as one of the top characters. It should have been Jill instead. Jill is the only character left from day one. She represents the early days, and over three decades of Chancellor family with Katherine.
Only if the writers create a viable story line for Kristen. No bringing Eileen back only to waste her exceptional talent.
Days always has and always will be the place that truly let Eileen shine and gave her the meatiest material of her career.
Unfortunately, I agree with you. YandR has never really provided Davidson with great material (though I vaguely remember her Emmy nominated turn several years back with illness storyline). Would hate to see her go back to Days, but writing for Kristen is superior to that for Ashley.
taken, from WIKI
“…On June 17, 2014, it was announced that Davidson had signed a contract to return to The Young and the Restless.[20] Subsequently, Davidson revealed that her Y&R contract was for two years and that it included a stipulation that she could continue doing Days of Our Lives in the future, as well as having the option of taking a break if work became too hectic. ”
I remember being disappointed, when this happened
WOW … how time flies
??? is she on recurring ? I do not recall a contract extension
it’s troublesome, @DAYS… is it being cancelled… dag
GH and DAYS are taking HIT after HIT
love them both
as stipulated… DAYS would be crazy not to capitalize if she’s interested
even if it’s , like Wally Kurth and Tristan Rogers
since she’s been gone… the only 2 actresses DAYS has AIRED… that came any where close
Tamara Braun… ex-AVA, DAYS
Jade Harlow… ex-Sheryl Connor, DAYS… OK a young hot starlet
I wish DAYS would hire Robin Christopher… wish she could be one of Maggies daughters… not too old, yeah ? could see her and Wally Kurth heating up
Eileen DAvidson is the best their is
I want to see Eileen back to days as Kristen Dimera and Susan Banks. Susan always says Kristen is mean mean mean lol.
I would give anything just to hear Susan say that again about Kristen!!! The ratings were better when Eileen was carrying the show.
Yes I agree James, Susan was funny as hell lol. Kristen is mean mean mean lol. You are so right James, the ratings were way better with Eileen Davidson.
Those words are etched on the brain, aren’t they, Claudio?……mean, mean, mean….LOL.
Oh, how I loved Susan!!
Maybe Kristen/Susan will both be back….I wish…
I hope so Celia, Kristen is mean mean mean lol. Eileen Davidson was terrific as Susan Banks and Kristen Dimera. Susan was hilarious, with her fake teeth lol. Kristen was wonderful too watch. Days had better ratings with Eileen Davidson.
Yeah…I get so nostalgic, Claudio. “Them were the good ole days.”
outstanding as kristen on days . always great as ashley . she was the worst recast ever for the part of kelly capwell on the now defunct daytime soap ” Santa Barbara ” . i was a fan of that soap and she was totally miscast as kelly and pairing her romantically with cruz castillo made my blood boil ! it ‘s always nice seeing her as ashley and kristen , two characters much better suited for her !
The writing on DAYS is currently garbage. Things are improving at Y&R. Stay put. Eileen. Days needs to get the DiMera Empire back in order before Eileen even thinks of returningm in other words, bring back Peter Blake and EJ DiMera! They can recast EJ with the guy who played Simon on ATWT! With Jennifer on the canvas and Jack dead, how has DAYS not brought back Peter! Recast him too!!!
You bet, Richard. It saddens me to say it, but Days is drowning.
As it just moi who does not give a fig about the shenanigans with Hope and the search for Stefano? Why? I think TPTB realized that the easiest way to clear Hope was to resuscitate Stefano. Really? And, if Stefano is found, will he have had plastic surgery?
Then, there’s Andre’s mysterious gold, Chartreuse pocket watch. How is this backstory interesting? Well, maybe if Andre turns out to be Tony….that would be interesting. Anna is in on it? How did she just pop-up like that? From whence hath she cometh?
I find as much entertainmrnt in this storyline as Dylan ( Y & R) in Miami as a bad-a$$- spy,
Ummmm i coild care less about this search for Stefano. They basically realized they shouldnt have killed him bc it put Hope in a corner. They shouldve sent him off like the did Sally Spectra on BOLD. Her portayer died, but Sally is still out there somewhere being fabulous. And if they were going to finally kill Stefano off, MARLENA shouldve been the one to do it. Or even John! Tony/Andre should not be running the Dimera Show, Peter and EJ should!
Agreed, Richard. Hmmm…yeah, I would have loooved to have seen Marlena do the deed. That would have been a spectacular show, for sure!!
Eileen really MUST be ‘open to anything’ if she’d consider coming back to this turkey of a show – I only watch out of obligation and it is tedious to sit through, and if there were a way to ff through the NBC app trust me I would.
Sincerely, I am sorry to be so negative but this show has gone down the toilet and soaps are known to have some silly plotlines but this show exceeds them but a mile – how THIS show has lasted but One Life to Live and All My Children are gone is a mystery.
I was never an Ashley fan back in the day, but the past few years find me feeling differently. I really enjoy Eileen’s performances as the BUSINESS and sister Ashley. But, like with many other actors, the romantic stories are not my favorite side of her, not her strongest suit. But so what, I want her to stay at Y&R. She also gives me a wonderful sense of history, as the Abbott family has always been my favorite.
ahaa
quote’
”“I have faith Sally (Sussman) will make something happen. In the meantime, Ashley is yelling a lot at Jack and Phyllis. And she’s giving the stink eye to Gloria. So she’s back in the groove.”
It’s in the grove– to yelling at Jack & Phyllis..
ahaa ok- it’s groovy to yell at people and give a stink eye… yeah groovey!
((how low can ‘groovy’ standards go)) ahaa!
Sally is positioning the chess players on the board if in six months we are all going yawn then yes then complaining is a given but you just can’t throw a man at Ashley I don’t think she has had any chemistry with anyone on this show in years we shall see maybe they will find the character Ishtar actor. I would like it if she brought some of the softness back to the character
I would be surprised if she said no. Actors are careful on comments.
Ashley is such a part of y&r and I can’t imagine anyone else in the role but really Eileen was better on days it was so much fun to watch her.
I would love to see Kristen back on Days, but I think the show would need to find a way to reset the character, as I feel she had gone full on wacko and had been written into a corner. I think it would be cool to have Marlena and John stumble across her while on their honeymoon in Europe – only Kristen doesn’t remember who she is. Of course, no one believes her, she returns to the Salem to face charges, and after a it is proven that she truly doesn’t have any recollection of her past, she is let off the hook for her crimes. Eventually, this softer, nicer version of Kristen rebuilds her friendships, Brady learns to trust and love her again, and yet, some part of her is drawn to the darkness in Deimos. That pull and her struggles with it eventually lead to her memory starting to return and once all back – but not to full wacko stage – she has to put up a front while struggling with having Brady back and yet wanting Deimos, and all the lies and manipulations that will come with that position. And thus we have a classic Kristen back without returning to full 10 on the crazy meter.
Where have I been? Thought Kristen was dead.
LOL….no one ever dies on soaps, Helen.
Oh she fell out of a stupid fake window but was never found below on the rocks – idiotic though it was, that’s what happened to her.
days of our lives is absolutely not garbage at the moment ! the soap has improved a lot and fan favourites like Anna diMera ( leann hunley ) but also carrie and Austin have returned . and you have patch and kayla or the show as well ! tune into Days again if you haven’t done so . I have given up on young and restless ( very disappointed with sally sussman ) and given up on bold and beautiful ( same stupid triangles and silly ridge and brooke and it’s just the same story over and over again !! ) . more than happy with Days and that was not always the case !
Goodbye Eileen. Y&R is wasting you, go back to DAYS where they utilized your talents!
Days allows Eileen better stories and acting, but I’m sure Y&R pays so much more. I hope she can come back to Days at least in it’s final months.
minimally, this is what i’m hoping for… argh! the frustration… cache’. she deserves a hefty contract.
it’s just the not knowing… OK… i’m wondering… if DAYS rumour mill. there could be some truth.
we need to clear that up, first
argh! again… waiting for Ken Corday to do his annual interview.. assuring the audience that DAYS is back on the mend and another reprieve is on the horizon.
JUST DO YOUR JOB ! this is one of those cases… where the children who inherited a legacy… just didn’t know, what to do
Blake Days is not getting cancelled, it is not cancelled just a big fat rumor. NBC will not cancel Days. Ratings are up and storylines are getting better.
From your mouth to the soap gods’ ears, Tony. I will embrace this show until its last breath. But, the melodrama needs to ease-up. Been there done that over and over. Break the circle.
The idea of fresh, young faces was supposed to have cast some new light to the mix…the ebullience typically synonymous to youth….but, no spirit, no glee, not that carefree feeling of just being young. Ahhhh, I miss that ‘teen’ feeling, LOL.
What was the first thing to happen? Ciera was raped by her step-brother, and peer. Holy gosh!!
I absolutely adore Eileen Davidson as Kristen Dimera. I only tuned into DAYS four years ago (or so) when she returned. I tuned out right after she left. I’ll tune into Y&R when she is on-I just love her. I hate that she has demeaned herself to the extreme by being part of RHOBH-although, I understand the paycheck was hard to pass up.
I recall when Ashley had that abortion and had that romance with Victor in the mid-1980s. I cannot recall if she ever had opportunity to resolve/confront Dina regarding Ashley’s true paternity. I have always felt there are unresolved mother-daughter issues there, and I would like to see that story played out to some conclusion. I enjoyed the society of Genoa City, i.e. Katherine Chancellor, and would like to see Dina return and bring some of that class back to the daily proceedings. It would be fun to see Gloria try to find her way in that circle as she surely would want to be part of it.
Ashley needs a strong story, yes, but it need not be a romance… unless the can make something stick. Miss Davidson is a strong presence and needs an equal. And a bit of fun! never again do I want to see the Ashley that was caught in that horrid Adam gaslights/switched babies with Sharon tale. Ugh!
ashley s so integral to the abbotts ..but as a supporting character unfortunatley to jack
either they write her as a hard edged tycoon who pulls the wool over jack and vics eyes or give her a real meaty love story
y n r shot themselves in the foot when they killed off brad carlton, ash s true love other than vic
have ash team up with lauren to save fenmore , this would alienate phyllis and jack or put her back in victors orbit…maybe bring cole back or have ashley involoved in victors long lost brother!
eileen s too amazing an actress to play b storys for y n r, given the fact that thers so many story oppurtunities for her in salem as kirsten..eric, brady , john! she carried days and she has the potential to carry y n r!
We need to get togather and pray that days stay on you can pray for anyting god can do anything I had a brain tumer it was bad and they me two years to live but faith in god saw me throw all the thermints so he can save the show I am fine now through the grace of god
Days might give her a better story.
It’s always been hard to find the right romantic partner for Ashley. I remember Bill Bell saying in an interview, way way way way back, that it was difficult to find a man that Ashley “couldn’t wipe the floor with” and that they succeeded—finally—when they paired her with Victor. There’s a lot of truth in that (at least when Ashley is written properly).
But that shouldn’t stop them from trying.
Count me among the folks who think ED shouldn’t go back to Days unless they have a real idea of what to do with her character(s) and how to “reboot” so that she has a viable place in Salem. There’s been way too much in the last few years on Days of “hire the actor and trust that the right story will find them”; that really does need to stop.
shucks… I think Y&R should consider… Robert Newman… ex-Josh, Guiding Light
I read in a SOD issue… that he’d consider coming back to daytime. I swear.
perhaps Robert Newman could be a long lost uncle of Lauren Fenmore… back to help helm the Fenmore department stores… and wallah… LOVES Ashley.
here we go
Robert Newman is so loaded with appeal; sex, charming, daring, manly, drive
doesn’t he have the best eyes and dimples…. sorry Sonny
OK…you know what: I W-I-S-H that Eileen would leave Y&R and go back to DOOL…FOR GOOD!!! At this point, Ashley BORES ME TO TEARS…UNLIKE Kristen…who is ALWAYS ENTERTAINING!!! Most of all, I think that Eileen/Kristen’s return to DOOL would give DOOL A MUCH-NEEDED SHOT IN THE ARM!!!
Just saying……….
Stefano’s lurking around, bring back Kristen to join him. DAYS will never be the same without her.Darn entertaining….her and Andre could have one heck of a time!!!
Bring her back to Days I think she could raise the ratings even more.I miss her.
