Eileen Davidson Posts Message To Fans On Her Departure From Days of our Lives!

Courtesy/NBC

Courtesy/NBC

After Days of our Lives fans were stunned last evening about the breaking news that Eileen Davidson has already completed her taping at the NBC soap and is done for now with the role of Kristen Blake DiMera, the talented beauty took to her facebook page this morning to deliver a short but sweet statement t0 her fans and followers on the situation of her exit at DAYS.

Eileen posted: “Hello! I just wanted to confirm that I have indeed left DOOL. My last day was July 16 but I will be airing until November. I’m taking some time off to enjoy my family however I am not retiring. Not really sure what’s next for me work wise. But I am looking forward to figuring it out!  Thanks to all of you for your support and love. I’ve had an incredible time on DOOL this year…. Eileen”

So what are your thoughts on the situation after you read Eileen’s message? Do you think DAYS should have kept Eileen at this juncture? Do you think Kristen’s story had no where to go?  Was this the plan along for Eileen to do just a short term visit to the NBC soap after exiting Y&R?  Weigh-in!

I’m not sure it matters what I think DAYS “should have” done, since between the Twitter message she left (where she makes clear she wasn’t let go), Ken Corday’s message, and this one, it’s pretty clear its her choice. She’s been front burner since her return, playing several times a week for a year and who knows what is going on at home that she feels she needs to focus on. I can imagine Kristen is as exhausting a character as Ashley (in recent years, with no real story) was creatively stifling and I think that being there for family is an important priority at various times in our lives. I wish her well, hope she returns to DAYS, eventually, but not until she (and her family) are ready.

Well, I can’t really say Ashley had no story in recent years, she was gaslighted, had her baby taken away when she learned Faith wasn’t hers, married Tucker, got cheated on by Tucker, divorced Tucker, and dealt with her daughter. I’d say all alot of story there.

The Tucker story was a D story at best and the Adam story was in 2008 ! Ashley Abbott was almost an extra these last years the total opposite of Kristen being total front burner and driving the stories, face it.

Well as her long time fan i wish her the best. Those scenes where she was in Erics office fighting with Jesus was cool as hell!

That was the absolute best scene Kristen arguing with Jesus! I will miss her when she’s gone!!! Awesome actor/character!!!

I wish Eileen all of the best. But, to be totally honest, she would be stupid to go back to Y&R. They wasted her there for such a long time and it will be no different if she returned. Especially, when JFP got her pet newbies hogging screentime.

I agree with you 100%..Why go back there anyway? It’s become incredibly boring with characters who have nothing to do with the Y & R story, plus with so many new actors taking the roles of older characters, I don’t even know who is who.

I disagree that she shouldn’t go back to YR, but I DON’T think she should go till JFP is inevitably replaced. I think she’d just shoot herself and her character in the foot to trust that team right now. Best thing she can do to protect the integrity of Ashley is to wait it out.

Yeah They wasted her there the character of ashley has alway been a bad bad tragedy since the 80’s

Still sad, no matter why she’s leaving. Kristen Blake has been such a joy to see on my screen and her portrayal since returning has been spot on. Hopefully she’ll consider coming back to DAYS after the holiday season! I’d hate to see Kristen gone!

I was ready for Kristen to leave Salem, TomSell wrote her into a corner with the rape of a priest. I did not think that she was redeemable when she arrived back in Salem after all that she had done from 1993-1997 anyway. The only good thing she did was to he John exorcise the devil out of Marlena. To bad that soon after this she turned into the devil herself!

I wish her well…

Come back to YR! We need the Abbotts back at the breakfast table, and in the Jabot boardroom.

The poor Abbotts don’t even having dining room anymore thanks to JFP. LOL. But perhaps if ED comes back JG will write a scene where Ashley opens that damn closed door that took the place of the entrance to the dining room from the living room in the Abbott house.

I think Eileen’s run was for a short time, not long term. She was busy that’s for sure but I’m sure that they wanted all they could get out of the character. I was concerned about Kristen’s return but I found it to be fabulous! Even my husband got caught up in her story line. I’m sure her exit will be an exciting one!

I think you’re right about this being a short term role.

I also think they’ve written her into a corner, so it’s almost mandatory that she leave. You don’t do something as despicable as “rape” a priest and walk away smelling like a rose 🙁

That being said, I LOVED her run and she’s the main reason/character that kept me watching DOOL. I was fairly new to the show when she started, only watching part-time, and she make the show Must See! Once she’s gone, and Chandler Massey leaves (another favorite) I may go back to part-time.

I hope she misses DAYS as much as the fans will miss her, but the writing
will keep me watching DOOL and I will never become a YawneR.

I went back to DAYS when Eileen went back to it (I stopped DAYS when she left last time), so, I’ll probably leave it again when her air-time finishes. She’s an incredible actress and, having met her, she is a wonderful human being. I wish her well. (I’d like to see her return as Ashley on the Y&R, though.)

Eileen had quite some great scenes on DOOL. Was quite entertaining. She will be missed. I also loved her very much on YR. I wish u all the very best Eileen in your future endeavors. Good luck. Xoxoxo

I’m not a huge fan of her Days characters, I wasn’t watching for her original stretch. but she’s quite good on the show. I don’t care one way or another if she stays or goes, but I do like Eileen and wish her the best of luck.

Eileen Davidson (Kristen) was very talented person and we’ll miss her on Days and Days will never be same w/out her. Brady finally found his soul-mate who was Kristen Dimera now that has been taking away from her. Wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Please come back because Days will never be the same w/u.

‘soulmate’ euh..i like Brady and Kristen for the most part (although the relationship is kind of shallow, only based on sex..well most of the time) but soulmate is pushing a little, Brady has a soulmate every new 6 months..come on Kristen and John’s relationship was stronger actually although we knew that Kristen will always end as the loser and Marlena the winner..

I hope she joins GH!!!! Yeah to Ava’s sister!!!

HELL TO THE NAW

Do you know something that we dont know???

euh just NO

I would love to see her join The Bold and The Beautiful as an enemy of Brooke Logan. Have her bring some fight back to the show.

interesting concept

That kind of already happened. Ashley was on the show, and she was involved with Ridge and Rick. It wasn‘t really a good fit and she was brought back to Young and the Restless.

been there done that and it was a flop ! I love ED but not all her characters work in every soaps.

i will miss eileen as kristen blake dimera. i hope everything is ok at home. poor eilleen she needs a break. hopefully she will be back at days of our lives really soon. maybe early next year. i wanted susan back. like susan always said. kristen is mean mean mean lol.

Oh no. This sucks. Eileen is so awesome- I was hoping for lots more from her. Corday should have offered her the sun, the moon, and the stars.

To me, it sounds like the decision to leave was Eileen’s and not the Execs at Days. Although we enjoy these soap actors very much, we must also remember that they are human.

Eileen Davidson is such a great actress, it is conceivable that she might need time off to regroup. Eileen plays multiple characters (Or pretends to be someone else other than Kristen), and no one really knows what it takes for her to play such a complex woman such as Kristen. I respect Eileen’s decision, and am sure if she wants to return, the Days family would gladly welcome her with open arms.

I don’t feel like this is a permanent departure. When the time is right for her, I believe Eileen will return to Days.

As far as the story goes, it is conceivable that Kristen would have to leave Salem at some point. She has broken the law. So she could end up going to prison, or have to leave town to avoid going to prison.

wow i just started watching days because of eileen davidson,,,i dont think the show will hold my interest with her gone,,,this is not a good month for soaps michelle stafford leaving y and r,,,connie /kate going from general hospital….what the hell is going on daytime????.

I hope she goes back to Y and R and they give her a story and a love interest. Ashley is a vital character on that canvas. She was wicked fun as Kristen, but that character is just too whacked and unbalanced to have long term viability. You can‘t really rape a priest who is 20 some years younger than you and expect to be around for the long haul. LOL. I just REALLY hope they don‘t bring her back in 9 months to tell a who‘s the daddy story between Eric and Brady. Kristen is a generation older than both of them, and was involved with John. The whole thing just got kind of icky and creepy.

she will coma back with Brady or Eric’s baby..more Eric imo..and it will be EPIC !

It was her choice to leave so I don’t think Days could have done anything. I understand her wanting to take time with her family. Don’t like it as I want her on Days, but I understand it. I do hope she will return to Days, if even for not airing as much. Days needs Kristen and Eileen.

Although I like Eileen & her acting, I am happy to see her character of Kristen go. Her raping of a priest is too much. They did all they could with the character of Kristen. On to better things now. Let’s hope they can get Drake back on Days & a better storyline for him with Deidre. Like a John & Marlena reunion!!!!!!

That would be the silver lining!

I’ve been watching DOOL since 1981 (I was 11) and although actors come and go, they usually return to Days at some point. Let’s just hope if they ever bring Eileen back, they don’t pull the same “beyond belief” stupid stunt they pulled bringing Roman back. (The actor that now plays Roman of course was not the original Roman, but he used to play Chris Kosachek, a totally different character on DOOL). That torqued me. Us LONG time fans would have rather seen a new actor play Roman than believe Chris K was now Roman. Sheeeeeeesh. For all you people that want to quit watching the show…. be a fan. “Kristen” doesn’t make the show, she adds to a great cast and years and years of new and great story-lines (minus the Marlena possessed, now THAT was ridiculously stupid)!
DOOL fan4life

So agree. I do think she is a great actress and she shaked some things up, but I really was hoping to see more of Drake and Deidre.

Steve Kent Reportedly OUT as Sony Pictures Television VP in Charge of DAYS and Y&R

On Friday, reports surfaced that Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at Sony Pictures Television, is no longer with the company and overseeing the Sony soap operas, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless.

According to Soap Opera Digest, a set side source reported that Kent’s last day was last Friday, April 12th, which was one day after what would have been his final appearance in his Sony VP role at the Days of our Lives 15,000th episode on set celebration.
