Days Of Our Lives
Eileen Davidson Teases Her DAYS Return … And Who She Is Going To Play!
Days of our Lives is must-see soap opera these days, and coming up November sweeps is about to turn up the notch even more on th show that is fast approaching its 52nd anniversary in a few weeks! Coming up, Daytime Emmy winner, Eileen Davidson returns to her old stomping ground to stir up the drama, and some trouble.
In an new interview released today with TV Insider, the speculation that her return coincides with the mystery of “Where in the world is Will Horton?” is discussed. And what we learn is that Davidson will be coming back as none other than Susan Banks, with a tease that some others from her five role alter-egos, she once played on DAYS in the 90’s may not be far behind.
In explaining how Susan and Will might cross paths, Davidson tells TV Insider: “They connect the characters in a very cool and unforeseen way that’s both funny and tragic. And it’s very entertaining! I think I just sold this story better than anyone has ever sold a story ever. I should be a publicist. [Laughs] But in order to bring Susan back, she needed to be somewhat grounded, which isn’t easy, because there’s a fine line between her and reality. She’s so completely out there. A lot of viewers won’t know her if they weren’t watching 20 years ago. [Laughs] They’ll be going, ‘What the hell is that and how did it get on my TV screen?”’ Eileen goes on to add, “This arc is mostly about Susan, but we really cram in a lot. A few other people may be making cameos. You might even see a comb-over.”
As to working in story with head writer Ron Carlivati, who has a penchant for injecting humor. emotional drama … and the outrageous into his stories, Davidson said: “Ron is terrific. He realized that I know Susan better than anybody so he was totally fantastic and supportive about me changing things, editing, doing whatever I needed to do to make the writing work for the character within this new story. I had a great experience going back.”
So, are you a jazzed that Susan is coming back for some major and key story? What do you think will go down in the weeks ahead? Look for Davidson to arrive on the scene on the upcoming November 2nd, episode of DAYS … and that, my friends, is next week! Comment below.
So Rolf was working for Susan. Makes perfect sense. She is EJ’s mom and would protect Sami’s son anyway she could. I love Eileen’s work and am thrilled to have Chandler Massey back. I have watched Days since it’s premiere episode. First scene. Tom and Alice’s front porch.
Yes, yes, YES!!!! Love me some Susan Banks!
Oh that’s right, she is EJ’s mom. I totally forgot about that! I noticed yesterday that Kate spoke to someone on the phone and asked them to return since they are a DiMera. I figured it was Kristen but I guess it was Susan.
I’ve always wanted Susan Banks to return. This could be good.
Susan would DEFINITELY protect Will. Cameo will probably be Kristen, and i BET you EJ will be revealed to be alive as well! I CANNOT wait!
Since Sami is only back for a brief time and so she would have to have a good reason for leaving her son so soon after finding him alive. So maybe Kristen returns too and she reveals that she injected EJ with that drug.So that gives Sami new hope that EJ could be alive and goes in search of him but promises Will that she’ll come back to Salem and him as soon as she can.
You bet, Richard…..from the day EJ “died”, I repeatedly said he was alive in some European country ( probably Italy or Switzerland) in one of the DiMera holdings. If I’m wrong, I’ll eat crow.
When Will “died”, he joined EJ there.
I love Susan to pieces….one of my most favorite characters…yeah!!
“When Will “died”, he joined EJ there. I love Susan to pieces…”
this would be the wondrous ideal situation.. to believe
the heart wants
I’m hoping that … unfortunately for Susan .. Dr. Rolf convinced her.. as he told Hope.. he was working “alone”. that.. this was his doing.. and got Susan to go along with this..
and SHE HAD TO
this was her son and , heck… her bff Marlena grandson.
” I don’t” want to talk about EJ unless it’s the one and only James Scott
however.. i’m going their.. could Tyler Christopher be : EJ DiMera. I will accept
this would be the heart to heart .. and snowball that @DAYS would triumph
Will is alive
Susan was instrumental
and EJ .. as Tyler ? will be
it’s excitement in the air nonetheless
@Patrick.
Hey, Patrick,
I like your theory…Tyler as EJ. Do you think he will be affecting a British accent?
Susan was no evil mastermind…. and hardly mentally competent enough to be in charge of a conspiracy involving returning people from the dead. On the other horn, Kristen Blake DiMera would be the perfect suspect for such a thing, carrying on her late father’s traditions. Of course involving Kristen in such a plot would demand answers to the questions about the whereabouts of her brother EJ. Who (much like Will) was presumed dead, but known to be injected with some bizarre chemical – in that case, by Kristen herself.
Maybe Kristen is posing as Susan???
That’s always a remote possibility, since some of the Salem residents actually think Kristen is dead, just because she got thrown out of some castle window into the ocean (yeah, like a DiMera ever died from something like that??)
I wondered the same thing.
That’s a thought, Jimh.
I like that, Jimmy. But, how will Susan hide those teeth? LOL.
I am assuming Eileen has been taping, already…. meanwhile back at the Y&R ranch? It could be that maybe Ashley hasn’t noticed how shifty Abby’s boyfriend is due to her busy schedule…DOUBLE LOL.
You know, Jimmy, Melissa is pregnant in real life….soooo, Abby is having Zack’s baby. What a mess!!
Maybe Susan is working for someone else. For example maybe EJ is alive and he’s the one who employed Dr. Rolf to revive Will. However then EJ asked his mom Susan to watch over Will in Memphis while he dealt with other stuff.
That is very plausible, and i like it!!!!
Well, when Elvis “left the building” a couple of years ago, he did not relocate to Hell. Now you can interpret that however you like, but does anybody really think he would be let into Heaven?
There were rumors of a recast a while back, accompanied by one of those nebulous “You Tube audition videos”, which more often then not turn out to be complete fakes. And in this case, the guy who was reading looked closer to the age Elvis SHOULD be (about 20 now as he was born in 1997) rather than in his early 40s as the hyper-SORASed EJ was, by the time he allegedly “died”.
Funny thing is, if EJ was alive, you would think Rolf might have told Redneck Clyde about that when they met in prison, considering Clyde was to blame for Elvis getting shanked in the park.
You’re right, Satan…..Susan is not the mastermind….However, she may have been the “den mother”….
….how about Stefano? He is the master of masterminding…..if one factors in that Stefano is still alive. Mascolo’s death does not imply Stefanos’s.
But, I do believe your theory makes more sense than mine, in the form of one Siren: Kristen. She and Stefano?? Together? They are no callow youths, nor strangers to treachery ….they are hellishly ( one for you, my Prince of Darkness. LOL), and diabolically pagans.
Take it from me (and I should know) there will be no further “risings” of The Phoenix. If Ron Carlivati attempted to re-cast Stefano DiMera, it would be the end of his career.
Of course now that I have said that, there will be some folks cheering him on to do so, just for that reason. (insert devilish grin here)
I am very happy Susan is back for a little while. I loved Eileen’s portrayal of that character the most out of her other characters she played on the show. Yes, Kristen was a bitch we all loved to hate but Susan had some very funny things to her. This show really is firing up on all cylinders!!!
I agree. Susan was as singular, as unique a character as you willed in all of daytime. And , bless her, Eileen opted for for than camp. How Susan paired up with Stefano and how that was a point of deep anguish made for great viewing.
Yes, we all love KDM. And Eileen can do no wrong at DOOL. Its a shame the writers at the other show never noticed what a talent they have sitting around, not doing much.
I couldn’t be more thrilled with Susan. Tremendous news.
I’m so excited to see Eileen Davidson back to DOOL. It’s so cool that she got creative freedom for portraying Susan!
Yes, thankfully both Days and Y&R are owned by Sony.
Days has improved somewhat but i will wait and see how it all turns out first…Days remains a bit on the gloomy side and i wish they would give the characters some fun moments…long before the nurses ball on GH, Days used to do some stage numbers for the hospital that were very good-like to see that return.
I thought Kristen was the one that Kate called on Thursday and mentioned they needed to return because they are a DiMera, then she hung up because Roman showed up.
I’m so glad Eileen is back, also glad that she will be playing Susan and seems obvious Kristen and the male character (Thomas?). Days is amazing so far. With Eve back today, Sami back and Eileen next week Days just keeps getting better!
I think maybe Kate was talking to Anna DiMera?
Oh, is Anna coming back?
I will take Eileen back anyway that I can, but I am disappointed that she will be playing Susan! I know I am probably in the minority here, but I so wanted to see a Kristen story penned by Ron!
Me, too, Phil! And I want to see Kristen back in action with Eric…
yeah, LOL, my heart fell.. crestfallen
Susan… I love Eileen Davidson… and knowing that this arc.. is just that.. just as short as the last one that Kristen spent with Daniel Jonas… OMG !!!!
that being said.. NEW WRITER – NEW direction – NEW – ED – BACK ON
“.. with Eric ” god is he afire
Eileen Davidson is thee definition of pure sex appeal… raw undefined edge
Kassie DePaiva is thee definition of pure sex appeal…raw undefined edge
just a snowball of senses heighten
there are no words to describe how much these two radiate .. torch… fire … blaze
the camera loves them… I know we love them…
argh!!!!! I wanted so much for Ron C. to boldly script powerful women in control.. BECAUSE the MEN @DAYS are so funny .. and take it all with a grain of salt.. and have so much sense of humor.. that they play so well with all the women on this show. they fire up … because they get the “joke” that it’s still a guys and girls world.. but come on… tease much
this show has so much to focus on
PS: i’m still reeling from the “news”
I WAS salivating – and saluting – Kristen and Eve return.
Susan will invoke … as she always does.. manages to stir emotion
hell.. if EJ found a heart to heart.. so can’t we
it’s with a dubious ARGH!!!! will the writing live up to what was.. 20 years ago
not a fair compromise is it ?
“… because they get the “joke” that it’s still a guys and girls world ”
…because they get that this is a serial… and are always having FUN with
LOVE this show to bits
Great comments, Patrick. “‘.. with Eric’ god is he afire”: Indeed! It’s great to sit around the campfire — and watch!
I agree, Phil! Eileen Davidson as Kristen DiMera is one of the best roles in soap history.
If you read the TV Insider article Eileen hints that Kristen may be returning also.
I would love to see what Kristen is up to because I know she isn’t really dead
I liked Ashely until Eileen Davidson went to Housewives, that destroyed her.
Now, I have a hard time to stomach her..
So, she is on kill list .. eehhh.
Well, SuzieQ….I’m glad I never watch those silly unrealistic-reality shows ( pardon the oxymoron) which have invaded the air-waves. Trash!!
So, my admiration for Eileen has not been spoiled. Love her!! Love Ashley. Love Kristen. Love Susan.
from the outset.. my hope is dashed
I so wanted
that Kristen and Eve become fast friends and take over
I was just so ready for a new layer of intrigue; via Eileen Davidson and Kassie DePiava
in the same vein and context that we LOVED TO BITS
Hope and Jennie Bear.. Yeah, I do
Nicole and Sami …
two super powers on my wish list
I absolutely love Susan she is so funny and Eileen plays her to perfection.Sorry about the pun but you can Bank on it. that Susan will give us plenty of laughs,I only hope that she sticks around a lot longer this time,,,
I thought Kristen was “dead” ~ did they leave any wiggle room way back then?
Kristen fell out a window. It didn’t show how or where she landed and her body wasn’t found. There is plenty wiggle room…maybe she landed on a trapeze net and ran away with the circus!
I think they had a stunt double fall out that window and fell into a mattress or safety net or even that trapeze you mention…so the real Kristen should be ok-lol
No body was found. And she’s a DiMera (even if only by adoption).
Those two things pretty much guarantee she survived a tiny drop in the water when Marlena threw her out the window of that castle.
Oh, and she’s not in Hell either. And we all know she would never be headed the other direction!
Can’t wait for Eileen to return no matter who she is playing.
I love Eileen Davidson. She is such a classic beauty. I no longer watch DOOL; however, I always tune-in when Eileen has an upcoming arc. I don’t think she is fully utilized on Y&R. Ashley’s “romance” with what’s him name is boring. He acts like his therapist more than her lover. & the storyline with her mother Dina has grown tedious. Graham is creepy and the storyline with Dina seems to be in the constant midst of rewrites. I do love Ashley and Jack’s relationship, however. Again, I am looking forward to seeing Susan Banks again, in Salem!
Tell me about it, dmr. Whose brainstorm was this……pairing her with Ravi? TPTB actually thought this was a”sexy” idea? What a dead relationship. Where’s the “Oh, WOW!!”, the urge to fall into each other’s arms? The steam? Ashley is sooo the come-hither-I’m-alive type……Ravi? I get more life from a door-knob.
She needs a MAN!!
Beyond the Gates
Daytime Drama Casting Directors Talk Four of the Most Challenging and Important Recasts of Their Careers
Daytime soap opera casting directors: Greg Salmon (The Young and the Restless) Marnie Saitta (Days of Our Lives), Christy Dooley (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Kim Coleman (Beyond the Gates) discussed the process of casting for a daytime drama series from contract players to under-fives along and their expectations for auditioning, plus behind the scenes casting tales at their recent panel from the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
The entertainment industry event helps actors receive inside intel from leading casting professionals and took place just over a week ago at the Meryl Streep Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles.
Moderated by noted journalist Jim Halterman, one of the more intriguing moments of the panel discussion occurred when the subject turned to the challenges of a recast on a soap opera and replacing a popular actor with another in a very key role. Each of the four casting directors were able to put a spotlight on such an occurrence and all were leading men on their respective soaps.

Photo: SAGAFRAFoundation
For Marnie Saitta at Days of Our Lives, she was tasked with finding the new EJ DiMera. James Scott had become amazingly popular in the role from 2006-2014. Then, enter Dan Feuerriegel, who had the right stuff for DAYS to finally pull the trigger and cast the new EJ. The character returned on-screen in 2021 after 7 years.
RECASTING EJ DIMERA
“I do know now how to best approach a recast, like I’m casting a new character,” explains Marnie. “I feel like the actor just has to come in and make it their own. You can’t even try, looks-wise, to be quite honest. Obviously, EJ DiMera is kind of a focal point (of DAYS) and Dan was such a champ. I swear to God, I think I brought him in maybe six times. I would bring him in for other characters, but I kept thinking he’s really good for EJ and it didn’t go. Then, I brought him for something else, same thing. I knew that the role of EJ was going to be really difficult to find, and it finally clicked. He took EJ in a different direction. He has a totally different vibe, but equally as effective.”
RECASTING ADAM NEWMAN
For Greg Salmon, he discussed the pivotal role of Y&R’s Adam Newman, who was previously by Tracker star, Justin Hartley and what he looked for to be able to find the right actor to be the next black sheep of the Newman clan.
“We had Justin Hartley playing the role of Adam Newman before he went to This Is Us, and now Mark Grossman has been playing him,” explained Salmon. “So that was a really tough role to recast. Before Justin, there were two other people (Chris Engen and Michael Muhney) who played the part. Adam Newman is central to the show. This is Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) son. So, it’s an incredibly important character to the show. But now, Mark Grossman’s been playing the role for several years now. He’s completely made the role his own.”

Photo: JPI
Salmon added the key attributes that Mark Grossman or someone like him brings into an audition for the role of that is being recast, “I really think it just comes down to the person’s energy and what they’re bringing to the character,” explained Greg. “You can’t think, ‘Well, I know Justin Hartley looks like this. And the guy before him looked like that,’ because then you’ll just get trapped. You’re not trying to find another Justin Harley. You’re trying to find another Adam Newman. I just remember Mark came in and I think he read with Eric Braeden, and he read with a few other people of the Newman family, and his energy was just off the charts. You know, this is how Adam should feel. Eventually, I think the audience really accepted him.”
RECASTING RIDGE FORRESTER
In a little-known casting story, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Christy Dooley shared how Mark Grossman almost became one of the Forresters! “He tested for us (at The Bold and the Beautiful). Mark came in and read for the role of Thomas Forrester and he was my choice for the role,” says Dooley. “The role wound up going to Matthew Atkinson, but then he came down to read for The Young and the Restless.”
Dooley was also tasked with one of the biggest soap recasts in history when Ronn Moss exited The Bold and the Beautiful in his signature role of Ridge Forrester which Moss played from 1987-2012. Eventually, Thorsten Kaye took over the role at the end of 2013.

Photo: JPI
“When Ronn Moss left the show, Brad Bell (executive producer and head writer, B&B) said, ‘I can’t recast him right now, he’s just too familiar.’ So he waited. The character was always talked about because he is one of the Forresters. Brad finally said, ‘We need to bring him back. We got to find somebody.’ Then to get Thorsten Kaye, who’s so different than Ronn, and he made it completely his own. He’s just amazing at it, so I think time helped (between bringing on a new Ridge.)”
RECASTING DR. TED RICHARDSON
For Beyond the Gates, Kim Coleman, she has a soap opera that is now building a new legacy only in its second season. However, in season one, Maurice Johnson became the first recast in series history when he was replaced as Dr. Ted Richardson with Keith D. Robinson and at a critical point in the storyline.
Coleman explained, “I think it was a transition and everyone was in agreement that it was the right thing to do. And then fortunately, we brought in an actor that the audience knew. They knew his face. He was great. Keith made it his own and there was not a lot of controversy and it wasn’t complicated. Keith D. Robinson is on the show now and everyone loves him. So, it was a very smooth transition.”
You can check out the full conversation with daytime casting directors, Greg Salmon, Marnie Saitta, Christy Dooley and Kim Coleman below.
Now let us know which of the four recasts noted do you think was the most successful? Were you surprised to learn Mark Grossman was a favorite of casting director Christy Dooley for Thomas Forrester before landing his role as Adan Newman? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
Days Of Our Lives
Who’s Kissing on Who This Summer On Your Favorite Soaps?
Summer is here and that means soap fans can look forward to some steamy romps, some new romances and some shocking love match turns. So, who might hit the sheets with who? Who might just start a new love affair? Who might turn back to their exes?
We are highlighting five potential pairings that have us wondering what will play out in June as Swoon gave their upcoming monthly rundown on love in the afternoon. Take a look at what’s being teased and then you can let us know how you feel about it!
On The Bold and the Beautiful, now that Will (Crew Morrow) and Electra (Laneya Grace) “seemingly” are back together, R.J. Forrester (Brayan Nicoletti) and Dylan (Sydney Bullock) will hit the dance floor and then the bedroom. Will they actually fall for each other, or eventually plot to split up Will and Electra?

Photo: JPI
In addition, will Remy (Christian Weissmann) get his man back, now that things are looking up for Deke (Harrison Cone) if he works with Hope (Annika Noelle) at Logan? Remy had convinced himself through his support of Deke all will be forgiven? But let’s not forget what he’s capable of … blackmailing cousin Dylan and making deep fakes of Electra and plastering them all over social media.
EXES AND NEW FLAMES
Days of Our Lives summer sizzle extended preview first previewed a surprise lip-lock when it showed Chad DiMera (Conner Floyd) sharing a moment with Belle Black (Martha Madison). The thing of it is, it’s caught on a “Kiss-Cam.” Previously, Belle was in a relationship with Chad’s brother, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel), so where is this heading? To the bedroom? Stay tuned.
General Hospital continues to have two execs, Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), dancing around each other. The heroic cop seems determined to help out Willow since he believes she was wrongly accused of shooting her husband, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
Viewers know she did that and even worse! With Chase’s wife, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) threatening Willow to get her claws away from her husband, and Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) trying to shove Willow and Chase together to make her look like a cheating wife to get the leverage against her, we wouldn’t be surprised if something happens between them, but what?
On The Young and the Restless, after his live-saving bone marrow transplant following his aplastic anemia diagnosis, Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) returns to Genoa City and reconnects with Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox).
It was through Dr. Simmons diligence, Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) marrow, and learning that he has son in Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) that makes Malcolm have a lot to be thankful for, and he just might rekindle his romance with Stephanie with whom he dated back in the mid 90s.
So, of those listed above, what potential pairing has you most intrigued? Which are you not happy about? Do you think all of these characters will enter into a romance or an affair … or it’s all just a big red herring from their respective soaps? Weigh-in via the comment section.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Summer Sizzle Super-Sized Teaser: DiMera Legacy On the Line, a Health Crisis, Plenty of Romance and Backstabbers
As things get hot, so does Days of Our Lives as the summer months are here and that means temperatures go up on the Peacock streaming soap opera.
Now the long-running drama has released its summer sizzle promo video, where there are a lot of quick little nuggets that tease DAYS fans of what is to come.
First, much of the action centers around the machinations of EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) as he is heard saying about the family legacy, “Father built an empire, and I must carry his vision forward.” Meanwhile the extended trailer shares, “When legacies are built on lies, even love leaves a scar Not every wound heals, not every bond survives. In Salem, even the innocent have something to hide.”

EJ IS EVERYWHERE
Philip Kiriakis (JP Lavoisier) warns his friends and families about people losing everything thanks to EJ, which in turn has him in a major showdown with Gabi (Cherie Jimenez), and let’s just say, he is not too pleased with her.
EJ is heard saying, “Everything I do, every decision, every sacrifice. I did for this family.” That includes: bringing back his sister from the dead and Lexie (Nikki Crawford) looks very unhappy about something. In another moment, EJ is about to throttle his sister, Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) when he yells, “You tried to murder my son.” Does he finally know what Kristen’s plot was with Sophia?
EJ even appears to be firing Dr. Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) from her job at University Hospital. Sarah is also seen making out with Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) making everyone wonder if she is finally over Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) ? Thing is, he is truly not over her.
Then, there appears to be a public health crisis with pills that are laced going around Salem. Chanel (Raven Bowens) is trying her best to hang on as she is about to bring a baby into the world while battling breast cancer. Scared, she asks the doctors, “I need to know about the effects on my baby.”
MACHINATIONS AND THE TRUTH OF THE PAST
Another bad boy is back in Salem when Dimitri Von Leuschner (Peter Porte) seems back to his evil ways. Meanwhile, Stephanie (Abigail Klein) fires a gun, but at who? The truth about Cat’s (AnnaLynne McCord) past may finally come to light and be the downfall of her relationship with Chad (Conner Floyd) and maybe EJ too.
Back in July 2025, Peacock confirmed that Days of Our Lives will return for its 62nd and 63rd seasons. The series celebrated its 60th anniversary in November of 2025, and continues to shoot ten-months in advance of dropping new episodes.
Take a look at the summer sizzle Days of Our Lives extended promo below.
Then, let us know what is most intriguing to you? Does much of it excite you … or not so much? Weigh-in via the comment section.
