Another great performer is exiting The Young and the Restless, when confirmation came today via a heartfelt message posted at Soap Opera Digest from Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe).

After speculation over the last week that she had indeed chosen not to renew her contract at the CBS soap opera, Elizabeth confirmed today she is exiting the series to see what other acting opportunities are out there for her.

In her message, Hendrickson reveals that Y&R will leave the door open for her to possibly return some day.  The talented actress joined Y&R in 2008.   Here is what Liz had to say to all of you, her fans and the loyal viewers of Y&R!

Elizabeth Hendrickson:  “You may have heard the rumor that I am leaving Y&R… and it is with a grateful heart that I wanted to tell you personally, my unbelievable fans, that the rumor is true.   What does one say after a decade of the most amazing relationship? Let me start by saying THANK YOU.   Thank you for standing by me and all of my characters in daytime over the many years. A big special thanks to the BAMers, Chilly’s, Clonan’s and Clovin fans.  Your love and dedication has been unwavering. Even the most beautiful relationships need to go through changes in order for them to grow and evolve. This is where I find myself. I need to stretch my wings and fly into the unknown.

The one thing that remains true and what I will hold close to my heart as I embark on this new adventure is that I will ALWAYS have you. If it weren’t for all of your love, support and faith in me as an actress I wouldn’t be able to make this bold move.  Please know, this is not goodbye forever.  This was a very amicable parting of ways. I will be working for a few more weeks and airing well into May.  Y&R and especially Jill Farren Phelps made it very clear they did not want to see me go and plan to leave the door open for Chloe.  I am beyond thankful for my career in daytime, the friends I have made along the way and especially for all of you. I hope to see you all soon. Lets keep in touch. Maybe in another medium or simply another time slot. Regardless. I’ll miss you. Love Lizzie. ”

So, what do you think of the news of Elizabeth’s confirmation that she is exiting Y&R?  What did you think of her message to her fans?   Will you be sad to see her go?  Let us know!

Sorry to see her go, but good luck to her in future acting roles. She is excellent and will do well.

Damn. Another one bites the dust. Best wishes to Elizabeth!

She will do well and will be missed

Sorry to see her go. But I really believe more and more will be leaving. The show has just gotten worse. Bad writing. Terrible story lines

Unless you decide to be a lifer on soaps, she’s made the right choice if she wants to advance her career. She’s a young woman and frankly her career will be longer than if she stayed on Y&R. Who knows how long the four remaining soaps will be around. They may have seen a “comeback” lately, but in the long run, it’s doubtful they’ll be around 10 years from now.

On to bigger and better. Wishing her all the best. She’ll “bring it” wherever she goes.

I wish her well! I’ve always loved her!

It’s sad to see her go, but I’m glad it’s on her own terms and not the show’s. But people are still going to whine and complain that someone else had a hand, despite her giving her word this is amicable. Wish her the best wishes in whatever she does next. Would love to see Chloe come back!

Wishing her well in future endeavors I have not liked how they have written her character for a long time maybe she felt the same way.

That was a very nice message. Good luck to her.

With Delia gone and other story decisions, I think she lost her zest, so I’m not totally sad to see the character go.

Good luck to you Elizabeth, You are a wonderful actress. I will miss you as chloe.

Best Wishes! Have to question her comment about another time slot. She says it has nothing to do with JFP but I believe anything and everything has to do with JFP. Elizabeth will do well anywhere she lands.

another big change in Y&R with her going, sorry Y&R but the show has had too many changes lately and not worth watching anymore as we struggle harder and harder to relate to the newcomers and all the changes that are happening

I’m not really sorry to see her leave. After we MM fans lost MM I felt she took H.K. side, then there was the picture of her, Chelsea & Kevin that they took with there little signs which I thought was rude to say the least. I kinda hope a couple of others have need to spread their wings from Y&R.

I have always enjoyed her very natural perfrmances in the very different roles she has played on AMC and TY&TR. I just hope we don’t see too many more exits from this show. Too many cast losses and weak replcement castings have marred it. But I am Jess Walton is back, even with a kooky storyline.

Why is it the ones you want to stay are invariably the ones who go while the ones you wish you would go (Lily, Summer, DuhYawn, Neil etc.) refuse to leave?
It’s like the very men who absolutely should never wear Speedos are the ones who always do.

ohh geez..
Y&R is becoming a shell oh itself.. The greats, gone..
(Katherine/Jeanne Cooper)
Adam/Michael Muhney
Billy/Billy Miller
Phyllis/Michelle Stafford
and now
Chloe/Elizabeth Hendrickson

Replacing them would be futile; proof can be seen with the replaced Billy Abbott (not working/fail)

And this brings the tally up to five. Jeanne Cooper, Michelle Stafford, Billy Miller, Michael Muhney, and now Elizabeth Hendrickson, all fantastic actors and actresses. These were among Y&R’s top talent, and now they’re gone.

I understand EH wants to explore other acting opportunities, and I’m glad the door is being left open for her return, and she isn’t being recast right away like Billy was. I know she’ll do well because she’s amazing.

But this is just another in a long string of losses for Y&R recently, and I’m worried the canvas will soon be all new faces with only a handful of vets, prior to the JFP reign. The only character I like right now that JFP has brought on is Stitch. The problem is that all the top talent is leaving, and with it, their fanbase. It really is sad to see EH go after she’s done so well in the past few months as Chloe.

Sad to see her go. She is an extrordinary actress. Hope she finds what she is looking for!

We wish you lot’s of luck in your new future and we will miss you onY&R but,we know you will succeed in whatever you do.

Let’s read in between the lines.

“Elizabeth confirmed today she is exiting the series to see what other acting opportunities are out there for her.”

AND THIS…

“Y&R and especially Jill Farren Phelps made it very clear they did not want to see me go”

TRANSLATION
Y&R did NOT want to give her a contract that allowed her to do outside projects while on the show. Therefore, she’s leaving.

Now, could she have become a recurring character instead of a contract character? Maybe, but Y&R didn’t want that.

So another loss for Y&R. I consider it ‘balancing the Karmic scales’. And GOOD FOR THEM!

Ms. Hendrickson – Best regards to you and all of your pursuits. Peace Out!

Dang … how hard is it to get “outs” if you’re not a close FOJ on that show?
wolfy

I wish her luck, but I am surely going to miss her, I am huge fan and have watched since her days at AMC, but was thrilled when she joined Y&R. Darn I had no idea she was going to leave, I enjoy watching her, she’s a class act!

Let’s all try to look at the bright side: we’ll get more Dylan and Avery.

Can’t say I blame her. I’d jump off this sinking ship, too. But, hey, at least this means more airtime for Avery’s baking, right? Good times!

People come and go and come back. I wish this lovely talent the best. I’m pleased to see the recent returns of the incomparably talented David Tom and Camryn Grimes, and maybe, by some miracle, Ashley Bashioum, Heather Tom, Michelle Stafford and Eileen Davidson will return for extended (contract) stays some day not too long from now. Before anyone responds that David Tom and Heather Tom are siblings, I am hoping for a Billy and Mac reunion. Anyway, I digress, and this article is about Ms. Hendrickson. All the best!

I’m losing count of how many of our favorites have left over most of this last year

Maybe if she moved to Tennessee she would get what she wants.

I find it hard to believe this show is still number 1 in ratings, its God awful.

Oh man… Y&R is hanging by a thread. PLZ LISTEN TO THE FANS! Gonna miss chloe and EH talent, but wishing her the best and hoping for a return.

My first reaction to Elizabeth’s decision to leave Y&R is a selfish one; I do not want to see her leave because the show is threadbare and the plots more of the same ole, same ole. I wish her well and hope that she is able to find a regular prime time slot, because she is a good actress. I found her believeable. Rather than castigate Y&R and beat a near-dead horse, her departure presents another opportunity to strengthen not only the acting base but the storylines. Hope it happens. If I see another “here, taste this, now this one” segment by a supposed high-powered attorney, I may puke. I’d rather see this actress strut her stuff in a courtroom setting. Remember when the character Michael Baldwin took to the courtroom? He was quick, passionate, and unbeatable. Y&R needs a lot more of this caliber of writing, and acting.

So sorry to hear EH leaving but based on the recent changes and exits, I am not surprised. They wrote her character into a corner. Her daughter was killed, she kidnapped her God son and they have done nothing to help redeem her…. bad writing after bad writing. Add the JILL FACTOR and I would think she is relieved to be out of there…she has a lot of talent and hopefully will land somewhere less stressful. Who wants to come to work in an environment that Jill has created…

Great job Elizabeth…hope to see you soon…

PLEAS DON’T LEAVE THE SHOW …ME AND PAT LOVE’S YOU ..FROM WINTER HAVEN FL WE HAVE A AUTOGRAPHED PICTURE OF YOU IN OUR HOUSE… YOU SENT TO GLORIA IN long island new York ..SHE’S MY WIFE’S AUNT.. She is supposed to SEND US MORE PICTURE OF YOU AND HER GRANDSON FROM YOUR VACATION WHEN SHE GETS THEM FROM HER GRANDSON..PLEASE TELL HEM TO HURRY …..LOVE YOU SO MUCH

Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

Published

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.

It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.

In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

Photo: NBC

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.

DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.

Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA

Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!

The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

Photo:JPI

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.

The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.

The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.

In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Photo: NBC

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.

It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.

THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA

In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)

In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

Photo: JPI

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.

Share your congratulations to Deidre Hall for this incredible 50-year milestone as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives in the comment section. Then let us know, what is your all-time favorite storyline or moment in the life of Marlena over the past 5 decades? And, just for kicks, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, here is Marlena levitating below circa Christmas Eve 1994.

Maurice Benard Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’ Writers; Teases Upcoming Sonny Scenes with Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric

Published

By

With the highly-anticipated returns of Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on this week’s June 24 episode of General Hospital, Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) upcoming return on July 13, which also serves as the ABC daytime drama’s 16,000 episode, things are about to fire on all cylinders in the story, as noted today by series star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).

On Father’s Day, the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor and mental health activist took to his Instagram and expressed in a video that he has some unbelievable upcoming senes with the aforementioned Burton and Hughes. Add to that Nazneen Contractor (Justine Turner) and Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing), where Benard gave credit where credit is due to the GH writing team, which is led by co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten..

In this video, Benard said, “I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic. Truly fantastic. But, I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling!”

GENERAL HOSPITAL PREVIEW

So now the question becomes, with a major tease like that, what is about to go down between Sonny, Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric? Will we finally get to the end of the line for Sidwell (Carlo Rota), as previously teased by the GH co-head writers? Will we learn what happened to Jason and Anna, fully? Will Justine and Sonny becomes closer or stop their liaisons? And what of Ric? Will he be true blue to his brother or double-cross him? There is a lot at stake as we move further into the summer and one that looks like it could be one of the more exciting ones in years!

FINOLA HUGHES CONFIRMED AMAZING SCENES WITH MAURICE BENARD

As a punctuation point to his video, Benard also shared this written message in the post: “I just did some wonderful scenes with Steve Burton, Rick Hearst, Finola Hughes and Nazneen Contractor and  and unbelievable writing, freaking amazing scenes that you will see in the near future on General Hospital.” In fact, Finola Hughes jumped in the post comment thread and responded, “I loved our scenes so much xxx”

Fans will most likely see all the scenes Benard referred to later in July, since GH tapes approximately six weeks ahead of air.

So, are you excited to see what Maurice is talking about? Are you hyped for what’s to come on GH? Any clue on what you think will go down between the main characters on the soap with the returns of Anna Devane and Jason Morgan to the mix? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
