Erika Slezak Wraps Taping Guest Arc on ‘General Hospital,’ Gives High Praise to Jane Elliot, “She’s Positively Brilliant!”
General Hospital and One Life to Live fans are on the edge of their seats, when on today’s September 26 episode of GH, six-time Daytime Emmy winner, Erika Slezak (ex-Viki) makes her debut as the second half of Monica Quartermaine’s memorial service gets underway. While viewers still do not know what role exactly Slezak will be playing, all bets are on that Erika is playing Monica’s sister.
In an ironic twist, the same day that Erika will first be seen on GH, is also her last day of taping her short-term role. But have no fear, sources have informed us that Slezak’s scenes will be peppered out, so you will be seeing a lot of her on-screen in the weeks ahead.
Erika took a moment to reflect on her GH experience, reconnecting with many of her former OLTL cohorts as she prepared to head back to the East Coast where she resides with her family. She shared her thoughts on her official website.

“The past three weeks have been an incredible yet exhausting journey,” expressed, Slezak. “I worked every day with amazing, friendly, and lovely people—not just the actors, but everyone involved, from the hair and make-up team, including Angela, Wendy, and Karol, to the crew and the fabulous Bruce Cooperman, who I have known for over 30 years since his days as a cameraman on OLTL, and the security guard, Emma. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
The iconic actress then spoke of all the wonderful opportunities she had to come face-to-face with many of her One Life to Live co-stars. “Reconnecting with Chris McKenna (my Joey) and his lovely family was wonderful. Seeing Marianne, Chris’s mom, was a special moment, and it was a delightful surprise to see Jessica Tuck. Spending time with Tuc Watkins and his children, as well as with Roger Howarth, provided a wonderful break.”

Speaking on the tough pace of taping a soap opera in the 2025 landscape, Erika shared, “Adjusting to the different schedule has been a challenge, but Frank Valentini, ‘the boss,’ has been very helpful and patient. He’s a dear old friend and a highly skilled executive producer. Many others I knew from OLTL have helped make the transition to GH less stressful.”
Soap opera fans are in for a real treat when they see Erika share scenes with the one and only Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine). Who would have ever thought in our lifetimes we would get to see these two dynamos on-screen together? Erika had the highest of praise for Jane, expressing, “A very special thank you to Jane Elliot, who was as wonderful, delightful, and challenging to work with as I had imagined. She’s positively brilliant!”

In closing Slezak added, “It’s been great to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. While this has been such a terrific experience, I am very happy to be heading home. I have missed my family, my puppies, and my pussycat so much. Working on GH was a wonderful experience, and I hope all of you will tune in tomorrow to watch me in Port Charles!”
Erika also talked with TV Guide Magazine in their latest issue, about how her role on GH is not anything like Llanview’s Victoria Lord. Slezak revealed, “This is a totally different character. It’s an exciting, wonderful change.”
So, are you excited to see the scenes between Jane Elliot and Erika starting today on GH? Sad that Erika had already wrapped her run, but glad to know that Erika enjoyed her time on GH and got to see old OLTL friends, including her former on-screen children and brother? Best soap opera news of the year! Maybe in many years?
Erika is classy so classy I hate using that expression but it’s so true
I cannot wait to see Erika Slezak again and to see her go head to head with Jane Elliot. I’m thrilled that she will start airing today but sad to hear that she finishes taping her run today. I hope her character can visit again at some point. Pleaseeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember her on my TV screen when I was a kid. Her remarks regarding this visit are very kind. She seems like a very sweet person.
I’ve started watching again starting Wednesday. Though I haven’t watched GH in decades, I want to see how they handled the funeral, and I am dying to see Erika Slezak act again. Hopefully the writing is better than what CBS normally dishes out.
I remember when news first broke out that Erika was joining GH and I remember expressing that the one thing I hope would come out of it was for her to share scenes with GH Goat, Jane Elliot, and that came to fruition, today I got my first taste of that in the Friday episode, can’t wait to see what’s coming in the next few weeks, Its a shame Erika can’t visit for a longer period but this was truely a treat as a soap fan, now if only GH can get the other Erica, the great Susan Lucci to pay port Charles a visit then that would be epic, I mean Lucy sure mentions her enough time that you would think its only a matter of time.
Erika should already submit material for emmy consideration for guest appearance. I havent seen her performance yet but I’m sure its fabulous and emmy worthy.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
