‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Posts Emotional Video Thanking Cast and Creatives for Honoring Leslie Charleson, “We Love Her and We Miss Her”
As General Hospital airs the second part of Monica Quartermaine’s memorial service and its aftermath on the Friday, September 26 episode of the ABC daytime drama series, two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) took to his Instagram and shared an emotional and heartfelt video, filled with “thank you’s” for the show a his co-stars and the production team for honoring the late Leslie Charleson in this way.
Steve has been very vocal about how instrumental Leslie Charleson was in his life at GH and on an off screen over decades. In the video, Steve shared, “Just wanted to check in and say ‘thank you’ for all the kind words. I’ve been getting a ton of messages about this week’s show on General Hospital (and) about everybody’s performances (which) were fantastic.”
“Shout out to the rest of the cast and crew, the writers and producers and everybody who took the time to honor, Leslie Charleson, first and foremost, who played Monica Quartermaine.” As Burton expressed his sentiments, he became choked-up, before concluding with, “We love her and We miss her. Thank you guys.”

Accompanying his video post, Burton wrote, “I was gonna do another video, but this was real so… I want to thank everybody General Hospital for all of their hardwork to HONOR Leslie Charleson who played my mom Monica Quartermaine. Thank you to the cast, the crew, the writers, the producers, Frank Valentini (EP, GH) and most of all THANK YOU. The fans. Special shout to Aunt Tracy. Jane Elliot. We miss Leslie so much, but Heaven rejoices. God Bless.”

In an interview with TV Insider, Steve harkened back to his earlier years on the soap with his TV parents, the late Stuart Damon (Alan Quartermaine) and Charleson. “I never had to really prepare my scenes with her because we just had a connection as soon as I came on the show,” Burton explained. “It was very special, and I’ll always cherish my time with her and the Quartermaines. We had so much fun together. She and Stuart always looked out for me and protected me. To have her and Stuart Damon as my parents? I hit the lottery.”

As for taping Jason’s reactions and speech at Monica’s funeral, Burton said it was not that hard to do, given the circumstances: “Honestly, there was not a lot of preparation. My relationship off camera was great with Leslie, so it wasn’t difficult to get where I needed to be. What you hope for as an actor is you have to control your emotions as opposed to muster them up, so that was the most difficult part, controlling my emotions as opposed to going, ‘Oh, this is going to be a sad scene. I gotta prepare for this and hopefully the emotions come when they roll tape.’ It was actually the opposite.”

Steve was fantastic this week and the writers served Jason well with thoughtfully crafted dialogue. He should rightfully submit in the Lead Actor category next year.
Extremely satisfied that they included flashbacks with Stuart Damon and Amber Tamblyn.
I got emotional when they did those final flashbacks near the end. I loved seeing Alan and Monica together. And I love the footage of young Tracy and Monica together. Ok, I’ll just say it: Am I the only one who thinks young Jane/Tracy sort of resembled a young brunette version of Michelle Pfeiffer? Very pretty. Very similar bone structure and features. Not identical… but if you compare young photos of them side by side, one might say they could have passed for cousins or sisters.
As usual the GH cast was great and as an ensemble they are A+, but just a fun harmless jab, come on Steven all you do is get those deep blue eyes all watery and call it a day, I know just like in the real world not everyone could show up, so shout out to the show for at least mentioning for example why one character the late Denise Alexander ( Lesly Webber) wasn’t there and for giving a good reason why the kids weren’t t there either as Elisabeth explained why Jake was not present. still think the older kids could of shown up, but explanation was good enough. Still Alexis should of made an appearance sense they share two grandchildren together, or Anna, or Mac whom both have been part of the show for decades, but like I said even in real life not everyone is able to show up.
TPTB paid a beautiful tribute to Leslie Charleson/Monica Quatermaine. Everything was first rate which is as it should be. Tracy’s farewell was so very moving. Jason standing on the staircase saying “I love you, Mom.” tore me apart. The flashbacks of Monica throughout her life were beautiful. It was wonderful seeing her with Alan and Emily again. Oh, the memories. I loved the scene of the staff gathered around Monica’s photo on the hospital memorial wall. Rest in peace dear Leslie Charleson/Monica Quatermaine.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80
Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.
PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
