One of the most famous sports commentators out there, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith visited the set of his favorite show, General Hospital this week!

Smith, who has spoken about his love for the characters of Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright)  on his talk show First Take, is making another appearance on the ABC daytime drama series, and the news all unfolded on social media.  The last time Smith appeared on GH was back in 2007 during the Metro Court disaster as a reporter covering the long hostage crisis!  This time, we don’t know what story brings Smith back into the fold, and if he will play himself, or someone else.

Maurice Benard posted a video of himself with Smith from the set.  The Daytime Emmy-winning actor asked Smith how excited he was to be back, and Stephen A. admitted he was a bit nervous.  Then Benard said, “You’re not going to disappoint  … you’re going to be the greatest. I guarantee you that.”    Later, Maurice posted a tweet that said, “I had the best time working with @stephenasmith today. He’s truly a natural. Not Denzel yet, but getting there. ”

However, Stephen A. was also excited to tweet a photo with Laura Wright which he posted with the message:  “Damn, I’m a lucky man. On the set of General Hospital right now and look who decided to take a pic with Me?!!”   To which Laura responded, “So great seeing you! Come back soon!”  In addition, Smith was impressed with meeting GH’s Matt Cohen (Griffin) when he tweeted, “This man knows his boxing!”

So, how will Stephen A. Smith figure into Sonny and Carly’s world coming up on GH? We will keep you posted when the airdate is revealed!

Great news! Love him!

SAS is very enthusiastic and passionate about GH. He was on a late night talk show a few years back and brought up how long he’s been watching GH and proceeded to breakdown all the current storylines at the time. The man was there to talk about sports but spent nearly five minutes talking about the happenings in Port Charles.

I think it was last year around this time when the co-hosts of SAS’s morning show on ESPN decided to surprise him and Maurice Benard came out from the back. He was beyond thrilled!

Kimberly McCullough Gives Clues That Have GH Fans Suspecting She Was Back for John Reilly’s Tribute Episode: “Saw Some Old Friends and Reminisced about an Absent Dear One…”

General Hospital fans began taking note of a couple of tweets sent out by beloved longtime cast member, Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio), over the last 24 hours on the actress-director’s Twitter feed.

First, Kimberly shared: “I did something really cool today that involved wearing make-up and heels all day, which I clearly wasn’t prepared for.”

After that she followed it up with, “Here’s a clue – saw some old friends and reminisced about a dear absent one ….”

If you combine that with the fact that Jackie Zeman also tweeted: “Good day shooting @GeneralHospital I was invited back for a special episode today. As Y’all know I rarely post a selfie but it’s been awhile since I’ve had ‘Bobbie’ hair and makeup done. Thank you Karen, Carl, and Ari. Have a wonderful weekend, Everyone,” it would appear that both McCullough and Zeman were back for the upcoming tribute episode to the late John Reilly, who for many years played Sean Donely.

In story, Robin’s parents, Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Anna (Finola Hughes) were very close with Sean, as well.  So it all makes sense that Robin would be part of this as well.

So, if this is proven to be true, are you excited to see Kimberly back on a special episode of GH?  Comment below.

Cameron Mathison Shares He Will Make Summer Debut On GH and Says: “Incredibly Grateful to Frank Valentini and the Writers at GH for Including Me on Such an Iconic Show”

Longtime All My Children favorite and current co-host of Hallmark’s Home & Family, Cameron Mathison, took to his Instagram account on Friday to share his enthusiasm and excitement for what’s to come this summer when he joins ABC’s General Hospital.

No word yet as to what role Mathison will play – and whether it will indeed be Pine Valley’s Ryan Lavery, a new character, or a recast character from the past such as how Kim Delaney took over the role of Jackie Templeton, who has not been seen on the canvas for decades since Demi Moore made that role soap-famous.

In his post today, Cameron expressed thanks to GH EP Frank Valentini and the writing team,  noting: “Almost 10 years after All My Children went off the air I am so excited to be joining General Hospital this summer! I was a member of the abc family for over 15 years and soon I’ll be back: Incredibly grateful to Frank Valentini and the writers at GH for including me on such an iconic show I feel like a kid on Christmas, as I’ll also continue making Hallmark movies and continue to be part of that family as well😀🙏🏼 So so excited… thank you!!!! (More details to come😉)”

So, who do you think Cameron will play once he hits Port Charles?  Let us know and make sure to take our poll below on how you want Mathison to be integrated into the story as Ryan, a new character or a recast character blast from the past? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Cailtin Reilly to Appear in General Hospital Tribute Episode to Her Father John Reilly

Tik Tok star, Cailtin Reilly, who is the daughter of the late soap veteran, John Reilly, will play a key role in the General Hospital tribute episode in her dad’s honor.

According to Variety who broke the casting news, Caitlin will portray Annie, formerly known as Anna, the daughter of her father’s character Sean Donely and Tiffany Hill (Sharon Wyatt).

In a statement on her casting,  Caitlyn expressed: “Words can’t describe how honored I am to be playing my dad’s daughter on the show. I grew up on the set of ‘General Hospital,’ watching him work for years, so it’s exciting to dive into a new character in honor of him. He’ll absolutely be by my side in spirit on set rooting me on. It fills my heart with gratitude to be a part of this tribute to him, and to feel so close to him working on a show he loved so much doing.”

The character of Anna was last seen on-air back in August of 2013, when she was portrayed by Courtney Halverson. In story at that time, Sean was poisoned by polonium and he teamed up with Luke (Anthony Geary) to track down the man who extorted millions for the cure, while Anna repeatedly got in contact with that man to get the medicine her father so desperately needed.

John Reilly passed away back in January 2021.  The talented actor first appeared on GH back in 1984 and last appeared on the daytime drama series back in 2013.

So, looking forward to seeing Caitlyn playing Sean and Tiffany’s daughter? Comment below.
