DAYS Continues Its Search For A New Abigail! Who Would You Suggest For The Part?

Courtesy/NBC
Replacing Kate Mansi as Abigail Deveraux has proved challening for Days of our Lives. The popular actress finished up her run in December, but is currently airing through the spring on the long-running NBC daytime drama series. After several casting breakdowns and casting calls, the sudser is still looking for their new Abigail.
According to Soap Opera Digest on Wednesday, a new casting call has gone out for the role, which gives these details on the character: “She comes from a loving home, despite her father lack of consistency in her life. Abigail looks innocent and young but can often seems more mature in essence than her 26 years because of the difficulties she’s experienced. She’s made plenty of mistakes in her life, but she tries to learn from them and has compassion for others. She’s fiercely loyal and protective of her family, and she has a spark and youthful joy that endears her to everyone she meets.”
The casting call also says they are looking for the new Abigail to start taping at the end of April, and that the search is continuing, even though the current cast is on hiatus till April 4th.
So, put your casting director hats on one more time. Which actress familiar to daytime or primetime audiences, would you suggest would make a great Abigail? Let us know in the comment section below!

ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

The actress who played Langston-Starr’s friend-on One Life To Live…if available!
That’s also an excellent choice, Jimmy.
As always….w(R)ite on Jimh!
They won’t need a new Abby if Days continues with those CRAZY storylines!
So i guess i am right…Ben kidnaps Abby and she disappears until a recast is found…meanwhile i hate the name Chabby…everytime i read that name it makes me think of Spongebob and his Crabby Patties…lol
I can’t stand cabby either makes me nuts!
Yeah, who started that craziness–Chabby, indeed. Let me just say the better word for DAYS right now is SHABBY–lol!
They need to cast Brittany Underwood , ex Langston OLTL. She is a wonderful actress.
Thats who i said too…
Minds think alike Jim lol. We both know Jim, Brittany Underwood should be the new Abigail. Let’s hope that we are right.
I just rewatched her in some old OLTL eps.-she would be the perfect choice-reminds me of Abby in those scenes!
Please! No Brittany Underwood. I want someone who can actually act not just recite lines.
What have you been smoking? lol. Brittany can act.
@Nancy,
Brittany can act? Please who are you trying to kid here. There is difference between acting and simply reciting lines.
Is Kelly Missel too young to play her?
Great suggestion!
Hi, Rafababe.
Lol…this is like deja-vu. We have been posed this question months ago. I had suggested both Kelley Missel and Lyndsy Fonseca ( Colleen, Y&R). Both smashing talents.
I do think Kelley is too young, but does it really matter? Age is never a problem, it seems. EJ was born after Will….soooo…..
Jason’s suggestion, (below) of Kristen Alderson is also a great suggestion.
I want Brittany Underwood ex-Langston, OLTL!!!!
Kelly Missel would be a better choice to be the new Abby!
who is Kelley Missel
I misspelled her name it’s Kelley Missal she played Danielle “Dani” Manning (Todd & Tea’ daughter on OLTL)
Brittany Underwood is not a bad choice either.
Kelley Missal played the part of Daniela (Dani) on OLTL . She was the daughter of Todd Manning (Trevor St. John) who, in reality, turned out to be Victor Manning, who was the real Todd’s ( Roger Howarth) identical twin with an altered face ( complicated story…LOL).
Anyway, Dani’s mother was Tea Delgado (Florencia Lozano).
Please forgive the winded reply, Lisa. But, I was crazy about this soap. LOL.
I remember her but wouldn’t she still look a little too young yet for that part. I remember Langston also
I checked up the year that Kelly was born on imdb and it said 93 and Kate Mansi was born in 87
Hi, Lisa.
I know there is a few years separating them, but as I said, Sam (GH) is only 7 or 8 years younger than Julian, her ‘father’. So, TPTB can do anything they want. LOL.
I don’t think she has done too much since OLTL though
I believe Kelley is still in College, Elite…but, has done a couple of movies here and there.
Kristen Alderson
Oh please no
Second that emotion!
Brittney Underwood is a GREAT choice. Just not Rebecca Herbst. I want Herbst to work things out and stay at GH, but if she doesn’t I would rather she come on as someone else… she seems too old to play Abby…maybe another Horton?
Give it to Susan Seaforth Hayes. Her character of Julie has seen better days and they rehash all the old characters around. It will hearken back to the time when Joan Crawford replaced her daughter Christina Crawford on the Secret Storm back in the 60’s. Put her in elastic pants and a pony tail and no one will be able to tell the difference.
Co sign!!!!!!
Linda Dano, Call Ken Corday!!!
I want her to wear that braid headband like she done in the 70s….lol
How about Susan Lucci…lol
They should make a call out to the actress Kirsten Alderson who played Starr Manning on OLT /GH later turn to playing Kikki to be cast as new Abby D. I know she left her role on GH which is base in Ca and move back home to New York, but she and Brittney Underwood are the only two at the moment that I can see being the best choice to play Abby D recast.
It’s great to dream. I would take any of the above mentioned actresses. However, a few, such as Kristen etc. are back in school on the East Coast.
I like Mara, I think her name is, the gal who plays Natalie on Y&R. If she’s not under contract, grab her. She’s a great actress.
How about nobody Kate mansi will be impossible to be replaced.she’s that awesome
All kidding aside, I agree with Shari –
Kate Mansi is great in the role, she is one of the few actresses on the show that is totally believable on many levels. I will really miss her as Abigail – some of the young teen actresses on the show, or should I say very young actresses and actors are just atrocious and I don’t mean that in a critical or unkind manner it’s just a statement of fact. So, it shall be a daunting task to find a new Abigail who will bring to the role with Kate Mansi did.
Anyone know why she is leaving? What her plans are?
They should bring back JADE HARLOW… who played a way too short stint as Sheryl Connor… who was “friends’ with Jordan.. and became involved with Lucas
She was so natural… and a SEXY cutie patootie to boot
YOWSAH
I truly want Kelly Missel…. last I read… Ceecee pointed out she was going to school on the east coast
take a break Ms. Missel…. get your cache filled with green… you are… Ms. Abs
Jade Harlow… is 32… but, oh my god…. can she “reel”
she can play 25 PLUS
Brilliant idea!!
Kristen Alderson if she is available and interested. Such a terrific talent.
No.
I miss Kristen….I basically grew up with her through my TV screen. I am only four years older….so I have a deep affection for her. I do believe she is attending University.
DOUBLE “NO”!
Brittany Underwood would be a great choice.
Abby is 26?
Kate Mansi is 29. Abby Devereaux is only 24-25….not long out of College.
I did not like the character for a very long time. I despised her holier-than-thou, little-good-girl image everyone had of her. We all knew how she chased EJ.
However, after the PTB finally decided to give Abby some brains, she just killed the role. Now, I love and respect her.
Kate Mansi can be replaced. Smh
Alderson is living on the East Coast now. Doubt she is interested.
Would love Kelley Missal
I would say Adrienne Leon (ex Colleen Y&r and ex Brooklynn GH
Adrienne is just drop-dead-gorgeous. I should have thought of her, Ghlover. I think both she and the original SORAS Colleen, Lyndsy Fonseca would kill the role.
KLS is Karissa Lee Staples, CeeCee.
yes! i definitly second that!
she can play sweet, sexy and shrewd
her and jj would look great together as brother and sister as both share darker features
besides sony owes her after firing her as colleen and replacing her with that horrible recast than killing her legacy character all together
as well , both adrienne leon and casey moss do music on the side, i believe both are singers which would be a cute bonus to have them both perform on the show together maybe at the club
can we get behind adrienne leon?!
* I MEANT to type it shall be a daunting task to find a new Abigail who will bring to the role WHAT Kate Mansi did.
My fingers move too quickly.
I think they should get Ashley Benson back to play Abigail (but she is is busy doing PLL). How about Karissa Lee Staples? What does everyone else think?
What does everyone else think?
Never heard of KLS.
KLS would be a good fit, Stayla! She’s the right age and she’s very pretty! She has a nice resume too!
Who is KLS? Initials throw me off. LOL.
I didn’t even know who Karissa was until you posted her name and I looked her up and she is gorgeous and seems like the correct age. I think you should call the Days studio and suggest her.
Tough call, they need someone talented and beautiful to replace Kate Mansi. Too bad she left.
kristen alderson
She would not have chemistry with Chad…..
I was going to say that, as well, Elite. I love Kristen, but I just can’t see her in the role of Abby. I hope we will all like whomever is chosen.
What about Bruce Jenner slash Caitlyn Jenner lol.
Caitlyn is taller than Chad. Wouldn’t work.
Lol too funny Anna, you made my day. Cool comment.
What about Taylor Spreitler who was on days before as Mia. She’s 22 so pretty close in age and a pretty good actress.
Bree Willianson, she had that tough edge. I do like the Brittany Underwood idea. Also Natalie Hall would be good
Hi, Bonnie,
I think Bree is too old to play the part. Abby is supposedly in her mid-twenties. Bree actually looks her age. But, yeah, I agree….she would have added that edge to Abby; now that she will be a DiMera.
There are a few great choices that fans have suggested. Availability is another factor, though.
I agree that Brittany Underwood, ex Langston Wilde of One Life to Live, would be perfect for this role. She’s a very strong, multi talented actress and very smart woman.
Kristen Alderson
NO, already!
I posted this on another thread about Tobin Bell, John’s father, but was not sure anyone would see it….please read….thanks…
C’mon peeps..isn’t it obvious who John Black’s father is…..it’s…..Abe……years ago, Abe was in Ireland getting over his true love Fay Walker, Nicole’s mom, and he met Kathleen McKinnon, (oops my bad, she was on Another World), Kathleen somebody and they had a torrid affair and thus John Black was born….he’s actually only in his early 30s, but Stefano had him brainwashed and his body enhanced so much that he aged to be around Abe’s age, so therefore, no one would suspect them being related….So now John and Theo and the young female cop (forgot her name) and Brandon Walker are all the offspring of Abraham Washington Carver, I googled his name…..so not sure who this Fluke character, Tobin Bell, is supposed to be playing, but he can’t be John’s father, because if the writer’s followed the Douglas Marland 10 steps of writing a soap opera, they would know to make John be related to someone already established in Salem….thus Abe is the only man that could be John’s father…..again, I beg the writers to google the DOUGLAS MARLAND HOW TO NOT WRECK A SHOW…I have provided it below in case the writer’s are not sure how to use google:
How Not To Wreck A Show By Douglas Marland
* Watch the show.
* Learn the history of the show. You would be surprised at the ideas that you can get from the back story of your characters.
* Read the fan mail. The very characters that are not thrilling to you may be the audience’s favorites.
* Be objective. When I came in to ATWT, the first thing I said was, what is pleasing the audience? You have to put your own personal likes and dislikes aside and develop the characters that the audience wants to see.
* Talk to everyone; writers and actors especially. There may be something in a character’s history that will work beautifully for you, and who would know better than the actor who has been playing the role?
* Don’t change a core character. You can certainly give them edges they didn’t have before, or give them a logical reason to change their behavior. But when the audience says, “He would never do that,” then you have failed.
* Build new characters slowly. Everyone knows that it takes six months to a year for an audience to care about a new character. Tie them in to existing characters. Don’t shove them down the viewers’ throats.
* If you feel staff changes are in order, look within the organization first. P&G [Procter & Gamble] does a lot of promoting from within. Almost all of our producers worked their way up from staff positions, and that means they know the show.
* Don’t fire anyone for six months. I feel very deeply that you should look at the show’s canvas before you do anything.
* Good soap opera is good storytelling. It’s very simple.
Scott, you certainly started my day in the right direction. I must say, I enjoyed my coffee much more while reading your post.
Good treatise! Bravo!
I was thinking Ashley Jones, but she’s probably too old.
Maybe during this recast, they can find someone who can act who can replace Ciara. Even Claire is getting on my nerves.
As much as I like Brittany Underwood. ….I think Chloe Lanier (Luke spencer’s sister in 1963 flashback)would be an awesome recast!!
thoughts?
How about Lindsay Hartley or is she to old?Or perhaps the woman who played Lilly on As the World Turns.Don’t remember her name. No I don’t act lol . What was that young actresses name on Passions, she was friends with Samoan not to sure how to spell it. Just a thought or two in any case I would love to see Lindsay come back.I know her character was killed off .but as we have seen these people can play other characters as well.
Lindsey Hartley is too old. She was also Ariana Hernandez.
hi that’s what i thought to old.How did Ariana die? I missed it.
@xmascarol.
Catchy name there, Carol, I presume? LOL.
Ariana was hit by a car. I can’t remember if it was really an accident or if Stefano was involved somehow.
Gabi named her baby after her (sister).
I’d love to see ageist Mueller Murray do Abigail
Bring Kate back why are so many characters leaving I just don’t understan
New actress Ashley Gibson
I can’t remember her name. It was a few years ago. She was giving her baby up for adoption to Nicole.
Her name was Mia
