On Thursday, Fox announced it has renewed the reboot of Fantasy Island for a second season. The series has been a ratings winner for the network with its new take on the classic 1977-1984 series that originally aired on ABC.

Daytime fans know that Kiara Barnes (Ex-Zoe, The Bold and the Beautiful) stars along with Roselyn Sanchez (Ex-Devious Maids).  In addition, Kimberly McCullough (Robin, General Hospital) directed the recent August 10th episode of the series, and former B&B star Adain Bradley (Ex-Xander) has also appeared.

In the the log lines for Fantasy Island it states, “Fantasy Island takes place at a luxury resort, where literally any fantasy requested by guests is fulfilled, although they rarely turn out as expected. Delving into the “what if” questions — both big and small — that keep us awake at night, each episode will tell emotional, provocative stories about people who arrive with dreams and desires.”

In story, Barnes plays Ruby Akuda and Sanchez plays Elena Roarke, a descendant of the original series lead character, Mr. Roarke (Ricardo Montalbán).

Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn said of the renewal pick-up: “Thanks to the fantastic Roselyn Sanchez and charming Kiara Barnes and the captivating stories that tapped into the core tenets of emotion and aspiration, Fantasy Island was the perfect wish fulfillment and escape we all needed this summer. Liz Craft, Sarah Fain and everyone at Sony and Gemstone did an excellent job on this series and, like all good things, it left us wanting more. We’re so happy to have Elena Roarke, Ruby Akuda and everyone on Fantasy Island open their world again for a brief visit this winter and for a longer stay next year.”

Coming up, Fox will air a holiday episode of Fantasy Island on December 21st, with season two set to make its debut some time in 2022.

So, glad to hear Fantasy Island is going to have a second season? Have you enjoyed Kiara Barnes on the series thus far? Comment below.

Gosh, I couldn’t wait for this show to start, but was utterly disappointed. I did not welcome Ms. Barnes, as I has enough of her on B&B and Roselyn Sanchez whom I love as well as her husband who appears on The Rookie, I feel is being wasted on this show, which really gets stupid at times. She has so much talent and anyone that knows her and how much more she’s capable of will hopefully agree with me. Good luck to her though.

‘Dr. Oz Show’ Taken Off the Air in NY and PA Due to Senate Run; Daphne Oz ‘The Good Dish’ to Fill Time Slot

In light of his announcement that he will be running as a republican senate candidate in the state of Pennsylvania, Dr Oz’s daytime talk and medical show, The Dr. Oz Show, is being taken off the air in key markets in New York and Pennsylvania, according to the Fox Station Group.

According to Deadline’s sources, Fox TV Stations proceeded with pulling the Sony Pictures TV-distributed syndicated series because of the prospect of being forced to give other political candidates running in Pennsylvania equal time, expressing that it “would be a nightmare for us, there was no way we were going to be able to do that.”

In its place, look for Dr. Oz’s daughter, Daphne Oz, to be the fill-in with her show.

Starting on January 18th, Daphne’s The Good Dish, will take over the time slot during the duration of her father’s political campaign.  This potentially could go all the way through November of 2022, if Oz remains in the race through election day.

Last fall, Fox TV Stations renewed The Dr. Oz Show for two more years which gave it life through 2023.

So, do you think more stations will go bye-bye and have The Dr. Oz show pulled? What do you think of daughter Daphne’s series as the fill-in? Comment below.

General Hospital Has No Immediate Plans to Recast the Role of Jason Morgan Following Steve Burton’s Departure

According to a report from Variety, ABC’s General Hospital is not planning on recasting the role of Jason Morgan at this time, following the exit of Steve Burton.

The two-time Daytime Emmy winning star was let-go from the soap after not adhering to their Covid-19 vaccine mandate.

The mandate went into effect on November 1st and in story, the series wrote Burton out, but still left wiggle room for the character to return.

Jason was buried under a rubble when a cave collapsed on top of him, while he was trying to apprehend arch-villain, Peter August (Wes Ramsey).

In his exit announcement on Instagram, Burton did express: “Maybe one day if these mandates are lifted, I can return and finish my career as Jason Morgan.”  Steve had played the role of Jason since 1991, but with a four-year break at Y&R, before returning to the role in 2017.

Now whether down the line, GH does eventually recast Jason remains to be seen.

So, it looks like Jason will be off the canvas for awhile, and Port Charles will continue to grieve for him.

So, what are your thoughts? Should GH leave Jason off the canvas? Should they recast down the line?  Comment below.
