Finola Hughes Has Extended Her Time Away From General Hospital!

Anna Devane will be off the Port Charles canvas for a bit longer than expected!  New today out of ABC Soaps In Depth has that Finola Hughes is taking some additional time off from her enduring role on General Hospital.

Finola last aired at the beginning of July and took a summer vacation from the soap. But word is from GH that Hughes has extended her time away, and actually will not return till later this fall.

In story, Anna was finally able to get some sort of closure after trying to get Julian (William deVry) to confess for his crimes.  Julian had murdered Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) and was responsible for the death of the love of Anna’s life, Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan).   What will happen when Anna sees Carlos’ twin, Joe?

When Anna returns to Port Charles it will be intriguing to see just what crimes, suspects, and evil-doers are inhabiting the town, so we can get Anna on the case once again.

What do you think about Finola’s extended leave from GH? Comment below!

I know right. Some celebrities don’t know when to stop and they wind up looking like a mannequin.

I hadn’t even noticed, either. Too bad Sonny doesn’t take an extended leave (like ten years or so).

Timmm, wish “signed long term” really meant something. You and I know that any actor can be let go by the suits–even with a longterm contract, so called.

I really haven’t watched, but would totally notice her not being on the show! She is my favorite.

It seems people just want to be away from GH. At least this way they can’t make Anna do things OOC

Too long to have a great actress off the canvas…hope she has a better storyline when she returns…maybe Carlos lookalike Joe will be attracted to Anna-that would be something!!!

and what if they did do the twin switch and he really is Carlos and only Anna suspects this?…will that psychiatrist guy-Andre?-think Anna is off her rocker-lol

Oh—PU-L-L-EEEZ! Let Carlos go–they took him too far. Let the new character remain “new.”

Good point, Jimh. That’s something TPTB would pull.

Jimh, from your words to the writer’s keyboards. Anna deserves so much better than what she’s been getting. A pairing of Finola and Jeffrey VP would be TOO great for words. But I’m gonna hope anyway.

Hi Nancy..
It’s not about Carlos or now Dr. Joe..
It is about the great extraordinary acting abilities of Jeffrey Vincent Parise that bring any character he plays to vivid life ..
I am looking forward to JVP’s Dr. Joe because Jeffrey will give it his best!
And— he doesn’t need a woman to hold him down!

((he is very good!)

It would be great if Anna is off finding out that Duke had actually staged his death (again) to save her. I love Anna and Duke. I won’t watch unless they bring Duke back. Such chemistry!!!!

As long as she IS coming back, then good for her.
I always wonder, though, why an actor takes an “extended time away.” Hope it’s not like Tyler’s time away.

Please bring her back via a classic wsb tale. Why waste her rich double agent history by having her work as some thinly drawn special investigator.

She had a lot of air time in the last few months. Perhaps she just wants a vacation, or perhaps she’s directing in or working/acting on another project. Off to England to see family? Whatever the reason…good for her! Looking forward to her return whenever that may be.

She is one of the few actors that always brings her A game even with poor writing, love her!! GH is getting better lately but still kind of predictable..I am seeing Elizabeth and Hayden becoming sisters..Seems Jeff Webber had fling with Hayden’s mom and Hayden was their baby and Heather has been blackmailing her for years or there was a baby switch and Liz is actually not a Webber..Hayden is!! Predictable and not original..I hope I am wrong and that the writers surprise the heck out of me!! Hopefully when Finola comes back, she will get a great storyline..No more… Read more »

Anna needed the time off tbh. She was beginning to kiss Sonny’s behind.

When she comes back I hope she builds a friendship with Laura. It’s stupid that they aren’t friends!!!

Love Finola and looking forward to her return in due time.

I wonder if these times away from the show that many of the actors have been reported as having this year are due to financial more than personal concerns? FH is a huge asset to GH, a wonderful actress! She brings class and dignity to everything she does, so, of course, I’m anxious to see her back in PC.

I’m hoping her leave has been extended so that she will finally be on Dancing with the Stars! She is an accomplished dancer and the timeline for her return seems to fit.

@Betty….Whilst I agree Finola would be an absolutely phenomenal addition to DWTS, it would seem that she would possess a beyond unfair competitive advantage over the other contestants. Not only does she have extensive dance experience, but she was a professional on both stage and screen for years, as her appearance in “Staying Alive” attests! I recently re-viewed that film and was amazed by Finola’s acting and dance performances (circa 1985) all over again!!! Let’s just say that unlike her many contemporaries on GH, the soap didn’t make her because she already was totally impressive in her own right, but… Read more »

I look forward to seeing her in the Fall. If I have my way, with good writing and a Duke return just around the corner. I doubt I’ll be watching much of GH while she’s gone but I do like some of the things the new writers are doing this year with the focus on the hospital and on vets like Anna, Laura and Tracy.

Kim Delaney’s Lifetime Movie ‘Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice’ Drops Trailer

Coming up as part of Lifetime’s Ripped from the Headlines true crime series of movies, The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice, is now slated to premiere next month on February 20th at 8 pm ET.

General Hospital’s Kim Delaney (Jackie Templeton) stars in the film, executive produced by Deborah Norville. in which she portrays, Mari Gilbert, a mother who becomes alarmed when her daughter Shannan (Katharine Isabelle) is MIA and doesn’t return home. Knowing her daughter sometimes works as an escort, Mari fears the worst.

As those who know the true life story, Mari’s attempt to find her daughter and the subsequent investigation leads to a chilling discovery – the bodies of several other missing women.

Photo: Lifetime

In the real life story, the remains of the women were uncovered accidentally as police searched for Shannan, who went missing after visiting a client, whom she met on Craigslist, in the gated community of Oak Beach on Long Island, and then fleeing the man’s home.   However, police believe that Mari’s unwavering fight to find her daughter which led to finding the other women is not how Shannan ultimately disappeared.

While the case has yet to be solved the film shares, “Though the search for the serial killer is still ongoing, Mari’s passionate dedication to giving her daughter and other forgotten women a voice, and the attention they deserve, has kept the case alive with hopes of a breakthrough soon.”

PEOPLE exclusively dropped the trailer over the weekend.  Make sure to check it out.

Once the trailer was released, Delaney shared on her Twitter account: “Amazing director @StanleyMBrooks Thank you so much, Stan!Very special producers, cast and crew. An important story!”

WATCH: The Cast of ‘Studio City’ Talk On the Latest Five Episodes & The Making of the Critically-Acclaimed Digital Drama

It’s one of the most talked about digital dramas out there, with a look and feel all its own, containing smart, witty, and dramatic plots and dialogue, and stellar performances abound.

In Amazon Prime’s Studio City, the story about life on a soap in front of the camera juxtaposed with the often harsh reality of life behind the scenes, will have any fan of the genre getting a kick out of some of the very familiar soap tropes contained within balanced with the five-hankie moments throughout  And now, Studio City has dropped their latest five episodes picking the story back up from where it left off.

Michael Fairman chatted with the cast of Studio City in his latest interview for The Michael Fairman Channel on You Tube. Those taking part in this virtual conversation included: Sean Kanan (Sam), Sarah Joy Brown (Laurie), Tristan Rogers (Doc), Carolyn Hennesy (Gloria), Scott Turner Schofield (Max), Anna Maria Horsford (Jolene), and Justin Torkildesn (Jacob).  Ronn Moss, who also appears in the series playing a version of himself, was filming a movie during the scheduling of this chat, but his presence is felt when some hilarious moments featuring him and Sean Kanan were discussed.

Soap fans know these actors very well.  Kanan, Brown, Hennesy and Rogers have all, or are presently appearing, on General Hospital.  B&B fans recognize Torkilden, Horsford, Moss, and Schofield along with Kanan from their work on the CBS Daytime drama.

Getting a show up and running and then taped during the Covid-19 pandemic is no easy task as Kanan shared in the group interview.  As well, Anna Maria Horsford and Sarah Joy Brown share how they came to their parts and the rapid-fire pace in which their scenes were shot.  Tristan Rogers, who won a Daytime Emmy last year for his performance as Doc, gives another heartbreaking turn, and reveals his thoughts on the work he did, plus shares his remembrances of his late friend and GH co-star, John Reilly.

Scott Turner Schofield talks about how Sean and his wife Michele Kanan, two of the creators of the show, have given him and the transgender community a space with Max’s storyline in Studio City.  GH favorite, Carolyn Hennesy shares how she crafted her role of Gloria, the executive producer, after Jill Farren Phelps, and Daytime Emmy winner Justin Torkildsen shares how he wound up with a part in the digital drama and the scenes he shares with Hennesy.

You can check out the full Studio City cast interview below.  Then let us know, have you checked out the series? What have been your favorite moments and performances in it? Let us know in the comment section.

GH’s Lisa LoCicero Delivers The ‘Power Performance of the Week’

This week on General Hospital the truth came out on all fronts; as Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) put two and two together and realized Ned (Wally Kurth) cheated on her with Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn).  Meanwhile, Alexis figured out Tracy (Jane Elliot) framed her to make it look like she passed out drunk behind the wheel.

Throughout, there were great performances from Wally Kurth, Jane Elliot and Nancy Lee Grahn, but it was soap vet, Lisa LoCicero, who for us was given the material and stole the show with her heartbreaking performances as a woman scorned.

LoCicero plays Olivia Falconeri from Bensonhurst, so believably, that viewers understand her every woman, who married into the well-to-do Quatermaines, and who has a much higher moral and ethical standard then the Q’s.

In key scenes at the Quartermaine mansion, Olivia confronts Ned about the night he never came home, and she wants the truth.  She also rightly accuses Tracy on being part of the cover-up.  A caught Ned confesses.  He tells Olivia he was in a terrible place, and jumped to the wrong conclusion about her and Robert (Tristan Rogers), and began drinking, which Sam (Kelly Monaco) overhears and can’t believe he was drinking with an alcoholic. Olivia says that Ned is incapable of being trustworthy after spending his entire life amongst a house full of liars and cheats.  Meanwhile, Alexis shows up in the middle of all this to confront Tracy on her machinations setting the stage for a showdown between Olivia and Alexis.

When Alexis and Olivia talk in private, the former legal eagle apologizes to her friend for sleeping with her husband; saying they both knew it was wrong right after it happened, but Olivia quickly points out that they didn’t seem to stop themselves or think it was wrong, while he was unbuttoning his pants or she was taking off her blouse!

Olivia stands her ground through her devastation and is appalled that Alexis calls her a “friend” and how she is only showing remorse because she has been caught!

Courtesy/ABC

When Ned tries to talk to Olivia and professes how much he loves her and how sorry he is for having sex in a drunken stupor with Alexis, Olivia is gut-punched.  Ned continually says he thought Olivia and Robert hooked-up thanks to Brook Lynn deleting messages meant for Ned.  The fact that he would assume the worst of her, only made things worse for Ned, and then to go as far as having revenge sex with Alexis, made Olivia feel her husband had sunk to new lows.

It is then Olivia has a moment of reckoning; wondering what is her role in the Quartermaine family anyway, and how she doesn’t really fit in.  Ned promises to wait for her and begs her not to give up on them.  When he leaves, Liv breaks down … her marriage in pieces and betrayed by all those she thought she could trust.

Each of the aforementioned moments were played to perfection by LoCicero, leaving the audience wondering just what will Olivia do next and how will she bounce back from this betrayal.  That is why Michael Fairman TV names Lisa our pick for The Power Performance of the Week.  And, if it’s one thing we know about Olivia, she is a scrappy fighter, a survivor, and in the capable hands of this actress, we will be rooting for her all along the way.

So, what did you think of the performance of Lisa LoCicero?  Do you hope Olivia and Ned work things out and they stay together, or do you want to see if she and Robert Scorpio might have a new romance? Comment below.
