Marc Cherry’s latest primetime soap opera pilot for ABC starring Reba McEntire has cast one of its other leads!

It’s none other than former than Days of our Lives Salem Strangler (AKA Jake Kosticheck) and Dynasty’s Steven Carrington, actor Jack Coleman!

According to Deadline, the untitled project which stars McEntire as Ruby Adair,is about a the sheriff of colorful small town Oxblood, KY, who finds her red state outlook challenged when a young FBI agent of Middle Eastern descent is sent to help her solve a horrific crime.

Jack Coleman will play Deke Adair, Ruby’s ruggedly handsome ex-husband who is now married to Ruby’s former best friend, Randa (Amanda Detmer). Deke is a good and decent man who feels badly for the pain he has caused Ruby, but is also honest about the anger he feels towards her. Also previously cast in the pilot are Ben Esler and Natalie Hall (former Colby, All My Children).

So, what do you think of the casting of Jack Coleman on the new sudsy pilot … intrigued? Comment below!

I love Reba’s acting…and I tend to enjoy Cherry’s work. But the description of this series does NOTHING for me!! I am just not feeling it! If it turns into a quirky comedy/drama like his past shows I will be on board. I love the thought of 5 foot nothing Reba strutting around wearing attitude and a Sherriff outfit!! It tickles me!!

The Salem strangler? He can do anything, LOL. He was great on HEROS…so, yeah, he will be outstanding.
I think he lives on the Vineyard…have seen him around quite a few times.

I LOVE this man from Heroes… hasn’t he aged … ALL that

dang!

I just do not , think; this show is going to work… especially with Reba Mcentire

she relies heavily on laugh track… that pause and lets get too cutesy cutesy with her dimple.

that’s not acting… it’s delivering lines… cue the laugh track… pause for affect and pat yourself on the back

her voice alone… is not enough … there’s nothing dramatic about her

Jack Coleman, on the other hand…. delish

this show is going to bomb, Marc Cherry

As long as it doesn’t turn into a Desperate Housewives knock-off I’m good.

I take my soaps seriously. I hate when my soap becomes a dramedy.

Daytime Emmys To Remain Virtual For Upcoming 2021 Ceremony

With an uncertain situation of when live events can get back to normal, or as they have been in the past prior to the coronavirus pandemic, The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced today that it plans on keeping next year’s Daytime Emmys award show virtual, to allow for the 2022 awards cycle to stay on track.

In fact, all of NATAS’s award ceremonies including: the News and Documentary Emmys, Technology & Engineering Emmys and the Sports Emmys will also remain virtual next year.

The Daytime Emmys became the first major award show to air a virtual presentation that others followed back in late June of this year and aired on CBS.

In a statement, NATAS chairman and CEO Adam Sharp expressed on the organization’s decision:“The current timetables articulated by manufacturers project mass availability of vaccinations for the entire U.S. population by mid-summer 2021, potentially permitting a return to more traditional in-person ceremonies later in the fall. However, we have determined that delaying our 2021 events to possibly allow for a compressed calendar of in-person Emmy ceremonies late in the year would result in unacceptable delays to our awards cycle for 2022. Instead, we have decided to remain “virtual” in the format of our ceremonies for 2021 while relying on a substantially pre-COVID awards calendar. In so doing, we believe we will be best-positioned to return to a full, on-time, traditional schedule of in-person ceremonies in 2022.

The dates currently under consideration for the 48th annual Daytime Emmys which would be via two or three nights of presentations are: a combination of dates from Friday, June 25, Saturday, July 17 and/or Sunday, July 18.

For those entering the competition, the entry deadline is February, 17, 2021 with  the nominations not to come till May or June.

So, what do you think about the Daytime Emmys going virtual again for 2021? Comment below.
