General Hospital
Franco Has A Brain Tumor On GH! Will It Absolve Him Of All Of His Past Crimes?

Courtesy/ABC
On Friday’s episode of General Hospital, we get the diagnosis of all diagnosis’ from Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson). In short, Franco (Roger Howarth) has a brain tumor that has been there most likely for years, and that would explain his now delusional and schizophrenic behavior because of it, since Franco now believes he is his brother, Jason.
In scenes where Roger Howarth does his interpretation of Jason Q complete with leather jacket, swept back hair, and black t-shirt, he kisses Sam (Kelly Monaco)! She later pulls out a gun and the two wrestle for it and the gun goes off! Franco as Jason also related to Sam that he has Danny upstairs, since the little boy was taken out of the hospital and is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant. When Silas (Michael Easton) and Carly (Laura Wright) happen upon the scene, we see Sam lying on the floor, but no sign of Franco.
So all this begs the question; in order to redeem the character of Franco, (who was originally played by Oscar-nominee James Franco) who was the artist whose canvas was murder, and for all intent was a serial killer amongst other things, is GH going the brain tumor route to be able to further integrate the new Franco (Howarth) more properly into the canvas, so he is not seen as a loony tune … but a more well-rounded, complex, yet loveable guy, and thus he can be a love interest for a leading lady on the soap?
Share your thoughts on the comment section below as to why you think GH has given Franco a brain tumor? And if it will be the ultimate game-changer for the character’s life on the ABC soap? (Since Roger Howarth is one of the most popular and talented actors ever on daytime) Or, do you think the brain tumor story ultimately is not going to change the Franco story one bit?
They had to come up with the brain tumor to keep RH on the show but even if they say it was the brain tumor that made him do it all, I think he will be as evil when the brain tumor is removed but maybe he will hide his evil deeds better to make the people of PC think he has changed
Honestly, I just wish they would pay out RoHo’s contract and kill him off. And, I would wish that RoHo goes on to find his biggest dream for having had to put up with his life over the last several months. I just don’t see how the Franco character ever accomplishes anything to the good for GH, RC/FV, or RoHO
Maybe it will change him(predictable) and maybe it wont. In any case GH has picked up last week and was at its most entertaing since the NB. I loved seeing Leslie and Monica in scenes together…it would be wonderful to see them as rivals again…maybe a new man comes to town…anyway why not redeem Franco…Look at the horrible things Todd has done…barely different than Franco. There are many villains in daytime past and present who have done horrible unforgivable things such as Barnabas Collins on Dark Shadows, GLs Roger Thorpe, DOOLs Dimera family, ect. who remained evil and who were redeemed, so i have no problem which way Franco goes and only RH is the only actor who could pull it off. Some may not think so but we cant please everyone…i wasnt sure myself at first…now im enjoying it again.
P.S. the best possible way to really redeem Franco is that somehow he is the one who finally brings Robin home to PC just moments after Patrick and Sabrina tie the knot.
Kimberly McCullough decided to leave the show to focus on directing. Get over it already.
That would be nice for her to come back, she has discussed it already and figures it is soon time to return, just when is the issue and no, jimh doesn’t have to get over it! She wants to come back and tie up loose ends. Now you get over it!
I Know all about KM decision to direct…it still doesnt mean the show cant bring back the character with our without the actress in the role…i hate dangling stories…so to whoever this Micheal is i dont have to get over anything, especially when the Robin story isnt over with the character shown alive…its an unfinished plotline in need of an ending!!!
Besides, for me, half the fun is dreaming up our own story line outcomes and guessing what could happen next.
Plain boring & dumb…
Tuned out 2 weeks ago, obviously no reason to come back.
This is a weak weak storyline, Franco ( ahh Todd, ahh whatever) should never have been brought back. That story had ended, period!
The writing is the weakest daytime has ever seen. ABC daytime chief, who ever is in charge please make changes Frank Valentini simply won’t. Hire someone who has a sense and some history with the show. Otherwise this farce will lead to the end of GH. Fans of GH are tuning out, you may have a few OLTL fans left watching this disaster!
There are many GH fans still watching the show, maybe that is what you want to think
I have tuned out all of the Franco scenes (FF’d them) with the exception of today when he was pointing the gun at himself… I really hoped he would kill himself and put an end to this dreck of storyline. Unfortunately, NOT.
I’m game. Maybe Frank will go back over to OLTL were he belongs since GH fans don’t appreciate his work.
GH is better than it has ever been and I have watched it since the 60’s. This is a minority on here and the stupid boards. Every single person I know and I am in soap groups, love it. Personally in the end I do not even think he is Franco so all of this is idiotic. I love the show and I loved loved loved OLTL which by the way, had better ratings than GH which was completely boring. Don’t watch I do not care. I am not related to Ron but I happen to know great shows when I see them. I am with over 5000 people who feel the same as me.
If GH really “is better than it has ever been” as you say, then the whole daytime soap genre is in huge trouble. The writing in the last two months from Ron Carlivati has been downright awful. If this current version of GH is a “great show”, I’d hate to see what would happen if the quality were to slip even a little, LOL.
But I guess if every single person YOU know loves the show, then I guess that means everyone on the planet must love it. (Cue the sarcasm.)
News flash- Everyone has different tastes and GH presently is not everyone’s cup of tea. Different strokes for different folks. If you like it, that’s perfectly fine. But that’s your OPINION, not a fact. I respect your opinion, but please don’t force your opinion on others and please accept that many people out there disagree with you.
I am sure they are swell guys, but simply put… This show is boring & unwatchable.
Very Sad 🙁
There isn’t a tumor big enough in that serial killers head to erase everything Franco has done to the folks of PC. Cartini has jumped the shark bringing back Franco in the form of Roger Howarth. What a waste of a talented and popular actor. I’ve always enjoyed Rogers Todd Manning but I can barely watch him these days.
Totally agree….brain tumor…we all knew that Franco would be redeemed and forgiven one way or another!
On All My Children, Ryan’s brother turned out to be a killer due to a brain tumor he had for years. When tumor was removed, at first he had learning disability in communicating but he had a loving heart. And eventually after some time he was able to overcome that disability but still had a gentle loving heart. Sure since he had hurt so many people he had to prove to them that he was not that person (killer) anymore. So yes, I do believe this story line wld redeem Franco n ve the possibility of being romantically involved in a leading Lady.
AMC may have done a brain tumor story better than what I expect from Cartini, but, as someone who has studied Biopsychology it really angers me that soaps always use the ole brain tumor device. Soaps have never written anything – mental illness or brain tumors properly; they give them wild violent personalities and stereotype them as all crazy.
I call foul here – If anything on soaps remotely resembled the real world, we wouldn’t watch. Plots to remember: GH’s winter on summer; Bo/Clint/Vicki in the old west; Reva’s clone; Marlena’s possession…. we just go with it, knowing half of what we see is not plausible.
I respect RH WORK BUT SAM MCALL NEEDS HER SON AND SOME PEACE!!
SAM AND SILAS ALL THE WAY!
Hell yes!!!I was robbed of McBam,please let me have Siam!!LOL!!
Roger can play any part.Loving GH and all the twist.Do believe he will get off.
Your right… Roger can play any part. As long as it is Todd.
I am a big fan of Roger Howarth no matter who he plays. he will make the most of whatever direction the PTB take his character.
of course it will Absolve Franco, that was the plan from day one..
This Franco will be a Q and he will have power and eventually he will be with
Carly ..
I knew from the very first day that Franco was brought back he would be turned into a loved character because RC would never make RH a hated man..
All should have known that RC would never give RH a hated/disliked character, only a fool would have thought/believed that RC would do that to RH….
RC is creating a ”Q”’ who be around for a long time..
This newly created Franco will be totally awesome, for many many years to come.
I so looking forward to seeing and enjoying RC’s Franck Q played by RH ..
He will be awesome and a great character under RC and RH !!
I agree with you here…i felt the same about Franco…RH is doing a brilliant job in this role…too many want him to be Todd so i say watch him as Todd on OLTL and let us who enjoy him as Franco watch him play Franco on GH. I wasnt sure at first but i gave RH Franco a chance and the twist and turns is making the show fun to watch again, especially last week.
Agree. Stick with it. It takes time to get stories going & for us to get used to new characters. Overall, GH is terrific. Love seeing anything Quartermaine-loved the Lesley/Monica scenes Fri. Just love it all.
I agree.Gh has so many twist and turns I just love the show.Hate Kelly Sullivan is being let go.Do love her Connie/Katie storyline. But will say the show is really good.As far as him on OLTL yes people want him back. But we got to remember putting off he soaps online made people go elsewhere for jobs.We lost alot on AMC but will take what I get.
Nice to see some positive comments from the fans for a change!! Maybe GH can move upwards again.
Geez, every fan comment about GH has to be gushing cheerleader praise for the show or else we shouldn’t bother posting comments here? As they say on ESPN (ABC’s Disney sibling), “C’mon Man!” Funny, people generally don’t seem to have a problem with criticism of the other soaps, but if you criticize GH (god forbid) it’s like committing a crime or disowning a spouse, relative, parent, sibling, etc. That’s total BS.
There’s nothing wrong with starting a discussion to provide some constructive criticism if people don’t like what’s happening on the show. GH will only survive long term if the large majority of fans like the direction of the show and find it entertaining. This kind of feedback, if relentlessly aimed high, could send a message once and for all to the suits. Do you really think that fans/viewers who are unhappy should just keep quiet and accept any garbage that Ron Carlivati and his staff write to put onscreen, no matter how demeaning and absurd it is, just to keep GH on the air? Sorry, it doesn’t work that way.
That’s just it-people are tuning into GH and liking what they see. Of course, you wouldn’t know that because you’re so busy pushing your anti-soap agenda to see the truth…
Yes he should be redemed love RH
I Will be very angry if they kill off Kelley Monaco (Sam)! I do not like Franco and do not want Roger playing Jason. Tuck !!!!
Well SB isn’t arriving anytime soon, so I will take RH as JM until then or forever
Playing Jason is a plot twist…i dont think he’ll really be Jason. Sam is not being killed off…there be no story without her. This is a friendly reply…so i hope you dont think i was coming at you.
Sam is not getting booted off GH!!
LIZZIE MIGHT BUT SAM MOST DEF NOT!!
As someone else has already mentioned, AMC did a fairly horrid storyline about the Lord of Douche Ryan Lavery’s brother Jonathug, who did all his heinous acts because he had a brain tumor. Then they removed it and he became a bad Forrest Gump imitation. He described his operation removing the tumor as “cutting the bad out”.
And “cutting the bad out” would be aborting this utterly ridiculous and annoying storyline before it eats up any more of GH’s time. I love RH, but even he can’t save this character. So many ways, so many characters he could have come back as, but TIIC decide to bring him back as a human hemorroid……
We can hope he dies on the operating table, and in his death throes manages to throttle Mouseburger, Brad, Felix, Felix’s sister, Molly and her boy band, Shawn and Spinelli. Then let Richard Simmons and Lucy Coe slip and take a fatal fall on the blood spatters and it just MIGHT, MIGHT, stop this show from its fatal slide downhill to the garbage dump.
Oh, and then Ava, “Kiki” and Morgan can be exposed as nothing more than hullucinations brought on by an overdose of PickleLila, served by Olivia, who gets sent to jail, while Sonny finally dissolves into a puddle of spray-on tan and perhaps GH might resemble something other than a horror show.
Angry much? I guess not a fan?
We’ve seen TPTB ruin AMC and do a lot of damage to OLTL before we lost them on the network (Thank God they’re back and better than ever with PP). And we’re seeing that same disregard for GH, its cast, crew and fans.
Is ABC looking to call Strike THREE with GH, and complete the ruination of ABC soaps? Looks like to me with what’s onscreen these days.
So maybe you’re right, maybe I am angry to some extent. Frustrated, for sure, to see such talent being wasted.
HAHAHAHAHA Just awesomeness! Bad Forrest Gump imitation!
Or, said in another way — Soap writers trying to give their pets Emmys.
Loving This!!! Maura and Roger are killing it! We need more men though…Lucas Jerome and Rick Lansing should be added….Ava needs a hot romance… With Silas!!
Not the FIlm Noir chick
SILAS DONT NEED AVA
AVA NEED TO FIND SOMEONE ELSE
SAM AND SILAS!!!
TPTB are preparing for contract renewal & salary discussion. With the brain tumor hanging over him, Franco can stay or go! LOL
Roger has been terrific and entertaining the past week. Hope Patrick can operate and SAVE Franco! Am loving the show and situations right now!
Maybe “absolve” is too strong a word, but EXPLAIN is probably more like it. The rehabilitation of “Franco” has begun, and will be a long and storied process…I’m sure if anyone can pull it off it will be RoHo. Add to that he will most likely be credited with saving Danny’s life, even if the necessary bone marrow to do so is actually provided by Sam’s real father. This will undoubtedly create some instant goodwill for the guy, in addition to ongoing benevolent efforts by the man to ingratiate himself to the good people of PC. In the end, I can definitely see it happening. Remember, this is the same town that turned a rapist (Luke) into a hero. It can be done…and should be a kick to witness. Just hope they leave Franco’s off-the-wall humor intact, albeit it a bit kinder and gentler!!!!
I call him “Tanko”‘. Enough said.
This has to be the absolute worst writing ever done for a daytime drama. ABC should really be ashamed to air this crap from Ron Carlivati. The honeymoon is over, Ron.
WORD!
I cringed when RH walked down the stairs dressed like Jason. If we must endure Franco let’s get him into the operating room quickly and get that tumor out so we can get Franco to be a better person. I love Laura Wright and her Carly… I liked her and Todd Manning… but I am not excited about her being linked with the soon to be Franco light. The whole Franco mess is just so unfortunate. Let’s move ths Franco mess along quickly… too much tome has been wasted on Franco already.
the story has been moving quickly..
In soap stories a story as this would be an year long.
A couple of months is very fast for a soap to turn a person/story..
I am excited to see this Franco, the Q Franco, a sane Franco!!
RH will be awesome as this tumor free different personality Franco, which will not be anything as the crazy Franco with the tumor removed..
RC would never give an loved actor actor RH a character that people do not like,,
RC will do right by RH and create the perfect character for him, a sane Franco a ‘Q’..
It is just a small journey for us to get RC’s Franco played by RH.. Awesome!!!!!!!
Roger is a natural as a nut but he’s not Franco.
Ahh geez I was hoping for something a bit more inventive-like RH is really Jason- that the real Franco altered his face to look like his, brainwashed him into thinking he was Franco and sent him back to PC, getting some twisted delight knowing all Jason’s love ones would hate him because they think he was Franco. But Jason had a brain tumor before and I thought this was the tumor coming back, exposing the deception and undoing the brainwashing. Oh well– I guess they would get more s/l out of RH being Franco– or is he???
This could go on forever, like what they did with DH character on Days, first he John Doe-who was really Roman, but he wasn’t Roman only brainwashed to think he was Roman- so he became John Black, but was a trained assassin then he was a Almain- who thought he was a priest, but wasn’t a priest, but a jewel thief. Then he was soldier last I heard he was Stefano’s brother– it was crazy so who knows who RH is– God help us if they ever resolve the issues with OLTL and he becomes Todd and Franco at the same time- yikes that would really be confusing. But a least he is not a vampire or is he???
Best post I’ve seen in a long time. Thanks for the John Black character recap on DOOL.
Perhaps they could dye his hair back to his normal color before an operation?? While we are at it, perhaps Franco could wake up “believing” himself to be Tod?!? I love the actor, but I can not stand Franco- whether the character is played by JF or RH. I just hate, hate the character. Not the kind of hate that makes me want to watch the show. I really wish they would do something with RH without making him play this foolish, cardboard, silly character. Something real, something interesting.
I am mixed on this one. I absolutly despise Franco(for three years we were told franco(as played by james franco) was horrible and jason the antihero. NOW that jason is dead and GH writers have to do something with RH he is under contract instead of making him a WHOLE NEW CHARACTER no that would make too much sense and be too much work they decide to make him franco of all people. Then to really shove it to the main gh fanbase they make him a ALMOST redeamed franco to boot AND now a brain tumor is the cause of everything franco has done??? I LOVE LOVE LOVE RH he is my favorite actor EVER but to do this is laughable. I find myself laughing during scenes that i am sure were not meant to be laughable. Ultimatly i dont think the story is going to make a difference in the franco character he is HATED no matter what and the horrible deeds he did cant be undone. I do think that Mr Howarths career is on an upswing and i dont see him or the character of franco long on GH. One final thought whomever thought or recommended RH color his hair canary yellow should be shot at dawn every time i see him i laugh his hair is A HORRIBLE MESS and he is certainly a very sexy nice looking man. Please ANY color but yellow!!!LOL
I don’t know what makes writers think any of this was a good idea. Better to write off Todd and Kiki. Pay the actors because of their contracts but just keep them off screen at least until one life to live crashes and burns and they can then bring Starr and Todd back. Also get rid of Silas and Morgan too.
GH will probably crash and burn before One Life to Live does!
Only because we have RC and FV
It will take more than a tumor to forgive Franco.Kind of like I never forgave that serial rapist,Todd Manning.
Good luck Shay; when I mentioned Luke raping Laura and how it compares to havoc Franco has caused I thought I was going to be stoned lol
Most of us expected a brain tumor to be used as another attempt to whitewash Franco’s past behavior, but for those of us who don’t think RH is “one of the most popular and talented actors ever” in daytime… it won’t make much difference.
That is, unless TPTB and RH tone down his performances, and turn him into a regular character, instead of a comic super hero, the new STAR of GH.
RC is not whitewashing Franco, he brought him in with regrets/confessions of hisb dastardly deeds brought them upfront..
Franco is being recreated, not whitewashed ..
This is going to be very intriguing, interesting to watch Franco turn into a power ‘Q’ .. .. 🙂
LOL… you’re right he is being “recreated”, and apparently one of him wasn’t enough, now we have two… making over the great Franco. That was a very short episode for me yesterday.
I guess I’m relieved we aren’t returning to vampires [yet], but I can’t picture accepting Franco with a Superman cape saving Port Charles either. 😉
Hope you enjoy your journey with GH, don’t think I’ll be watching much longer.
Franco may not actually be Franco. Why would he have the need to visit Heather Webber before going to PC?? A friendly visit with Aunt Heather or was it a visit with his mother?? Hmmmmm….
I’m OK with the story. Afterall Jason became a killer after his Head injury. Once the brain tumor is gone he will be seen in a new like. I like that they got Franco out of the rape stories. (I know RH would never want to play a rapist again) . AMC’s Jonathan went bust when he came out as slow and disable and was paired with Lily. Then he was Normal again and the Lily and Jonathan story was cut short.
Thus proves the arrogance of those running GH right now. Not only sacrificing the tradition and talents of their veteran cast for the sake of three just to thumb their noses at the powers that be now counting on the stupidity of their viewers to accept this crap. Shame on them!
Maybe, MAYBE if he comes out of his surgery a completely “different” character (a la Jason Morgan) than either incarnation of Franco so far – I will like the character.
Maybe he could be a blind, deaf mute!
This all could have been avoided if the writers had simply created a new character for Howarth. My sense is that the instant tumor is a desperation response to the audience backlash over the return of Howarth AS Franco. As I say, could have been avoided if some actual thought had gone into creating a NEW character for this fine actor. And, as much as I enjoy Howarth, his and Kristin Alderson’s characters are the characters that ATE GH. Please, a break from these two. Must they be on, or talked about if not seen, EVERY SINGLE DAY??? They are being shoved down the viewers’ gullets. I actually have no problem with the returns of the OLTL Three, but I do have a problem with them BECOMING GH to the exclusion of so many other more important characters. I will be more comfortable when proportion is returned to the writing. Maybe if the PTB didn’t try so damn hard, or seem so desperate to redeem something that shouldn’t have been in the first place — the return of Franco — the show would feel less “forced” these days. It is not awful, by any means. But watching it seems sometimes like more of a duty for me, than the sheer pleasure it was at the time of Duke/Faison and the anniversary build-up.
ITA– it seems like the oddest choice to make if you want RH to be a long term leading man to have him play one of the most evil characters ever on the show. Yes, you can redeem characters but it is a really long process and even with some kind of explanation, like brain tumor– some fans will never buy it. To me a new character that they could have linked to a vet on the show would have been better. But what is done is done— but yes they have spent far too much air time incorporating these three characters back into the fold—I am fairly new to GH and even I can see that.
Where is the love, soap fans? Did some of you forget that GH was about to be canceled before Cartini showed up? It is the sour attitudes that are hurting our beloved genre. STOP IT! Be supportive and try to understand that they’re trying to give us great story even when some of the vet actors are choosing to leave.
lol!!! I agree!!
the complainers are very unpleasant people..
nobody, even in school and collage wanted to be around the complainers, they never got invited to the parties, nobody wanted them around/unpleasant creatures.. LOL!!
I wish they would tune out read a book and shut up, too ..
yet they watch every day .. self-punishment, perhaps lol
Sometimes the truth hurts – GH sucks!
And then there are the cult members……
“Unpleasant people”, you say? Eye of the beholder….
I agree, all I hear about GH are complaints, And we did come so close to losing our soap,There is nothing wrong with any of the stories, I think they are all good, including the the story where Franco Has a tumor, The only problem I have with GH these days is Franco’s blond hair, get rid of the blond, we know who he is,you are not fooling us.
GH is having its ups and downs just like any other show. It’s been kind of lackluster since the Nurse’s Ball, but I see it starting to pick up again. At the end of the day, while I’m not thrilled with every storyline going on these days, I’ll take the Valentini/Carlivati version of GH over the Farren-Phelps/Guza version any day of the week. If that regime were left in charge, GH would have probably been long gone by now.
This whole Franco redemption is just bad writing and is hogging too much screen time. Nothing about this storyline is making me want to watch. Hopefully it will be over soon.
Bringing back Franco was a poor idea. If they wanted RH to play a Quartermaine they had other options…Jimmy Lee Holt’s son, for instance.
I like RH and always thought his portrayal of Todd on OLTL was entertaining. He could be flippant, sarcastic, mean but down deep there was a damaged soul seeking love.
I also saw him on ATWT as Paul. Another great job in a role that had been recast many times.
BUT,,,,I really feel that RC is writing Franco as Todd-lite. Too many similarities in the characters. And, having seen RH as ATWT’s Paul I know he has more range than just being Todd Manning again & again. If they wanted a Todd-like character Franco was a poor choice.
Todays episode of GH was bad 7/22/13
Franco was just bad!!!!!!!!
HE kidnapped a baby (DANIEL MORGAN)
Lizzie takin to him on the bridge WTF
Sam is a wonderful mother, but they didn’t let her search for her son?
The on the brightside was SILAS AND SAM
Was that episode a set for Roger Hawarth departure?
Roger Hawarth is under 3yr contract and seems to be happy with GH/ABC and is going nowhere 🙂
It is possible you are seeing the recreation of Franco / old Franco leaving new Franco as a Q being born..
RH playing Franco will be nothing like Todd, that is the plan..
RH will own the new Franco character as his own, soon ..
Developing a new character takes time and RH is an excellent actor and will bring his own to his Franco!!!
I like Silas and Sam..
I thought he got a prime time gig?
The fans was not happy about this episode
I still want SAM AND SILAS TO GET A ROMANCE+ A BABY!
plus what is going on with Sam father
I’ve been 6 years! !!!!!!!!!!!!
And Sam has been kidnapped by
MANNY
FRANCO
FRANCO
THREATEN BY JERRY JACKS
DANIEL BEEN KIDNAPINED BY FRANCO BEFORE
WHEN CAN SAM HAVE SOME PEACE
In other words GH will be on for another three years? Then I say BRING IN ANOTHER writing / production team!
Insulting everyone who disagrees with you is not going to change their opinion. It seems to me that there’s only 3 or 4 people here who seem to like the nuFranco and you keep replying to everyone’s posts and agreeing with each other. Look at the numbers!
3 yr contract means less than the paper it’s printed on. Daytime actor “contracts” benefit the network far more than the actors. What it basically means is that ABC has the option to KEEP Howarth for three years, but they also can release him from that contract every six weeks. It always sounds better than it looks.
Much like this horrid Franco storyline must have before it actually started playing out…
ABC should be distributing nausea meds with each episode.
I am a fan of Ron Carlivati. I think he has written the best of soap for a long time now. However, I have had trepidation about RH as a reincarnate “Franco” . Most of the #GH audience hated the orig “Franco” story and there has been stigma and a hate ever since. RH hasnt overcome it – no sense of great imagination from audience or Ron C. will overcome it. Now, “Franco” is trying to inhabtate the late Jason. It is too much. I say abandon “Franco”- give us back GH. RH is not worth the cost to GH if this continues.
Although I totally despised the Franco character and storyline presented by the previous actor, I am finding this latest chapter bearable. RoHo’s interpretation is laced with a humor and intricacy that James Franco’s was not…he was simply demented and evil….I found no entertainment value in his sickness. Therefore, I am willing to see what unfolds and how the new “Franco” is handled….I am still expecting some incredible twists and turns to this plot down the road….I do believe there is a method to the madness. While this latest incarnation may not be the direction I expected for Howarth when I heard he would be back in another role, I don’t see that this storyline is all that bad!!! There are many, many criticisms that can be leveled at GH at this time… it is top-heavy with useless auxiliary characters that need to be written out, the legacy roles must be given top priority once again, and there are some outstanding mysteries that should be cleared up once and for all stat! But that being said, I do not view GH as the total disaster that some here seem to think that it is…..although a lot less of Morgan and Kiki would be most appreciated!!!!!! LOL…..
FrankenRon have ruined the show.At first they brought back the vets we missed, then when the ratings went up, they snuck in the OL3 and now its OLTL.I hate Todd no matter what name he is using he ruined ATWTs for me, I had to shut it off. Now we get todd times three. Not only is he on everyday he is on for most of the hour. I have gone back to the DVR so I can FF a lot. Ron is a smirky mean girl having the characters say nasty things about the other characters.OL was cancelled and if I had wanted to watch it I would have watched it. Even now on Soapnet I avoid it. .We ask for Robert we get Todd, we ask for Anna we get Todd. We ask for Q’s we get them Rons idea of Q’s in Monicas house. We complain we get Monica and Lesley for two minutes and Laura for two. The we get the bridge and Todd times three I was hoping he would jump. I like Liz and I didn’t like the snotty remarks and throwing her off the bridge. As usual we get carley maybe he could throw her off the bridge.
We get Olivia with a bullet ,and what do they do. they make Anna keeper of the braindead PC police. ? Lately nothing on this show has changed and I am having trouble even watching the show on DVR.
Janet do not know if you were ever a Jack Wagner/Frisco fan go read his twitter page concerning his visit to Port Charles. Very interesting.
I did. I also liked Frisco and Felicia. If more of the actors came out and said the truth, maybe the fans wouldn’t be so ready to shut the show off. frisco was so disgusting to his daughters.. Georgie never met him did she. Maxie was dumped by mommy and Daddy. Mac was never given a child of his own or a family really. Then they had him drink the mob kool_aid and I didn’t care anymore. I was enjoying the show with the vets. Now I am complaining all the time.Ron has even turned Tracy a grown women into a mean girl with her nasty whopper comments. That should be so above her. Todd is a gang rapist calling AJ names???Tracy attempted to kill her father looks down on AJ.
Janet I have just watched hit & miss with GH working etc and that was before DVR’s just see it sometimes lunch breaks vacations etc but he was a lousy dad but this was all off screen he moved on to nighttime and the rest is history. Not watching now just catch a few minutes ever once in a while and I count on you guys to tell me if I should tune back in see no signs of it. The biggest problem I have with RC is his mockery with the Todd/Franco whoever he is now he thinks he is Jason. I really would be curious to know what Maurice Benard really thinks about this show.
I can’t see that happening though. Ron’s now discovered that he can have RH acting like 2 people at once, talking to himself for half the show. I guess McSilas talking to his twin will be next and then we won’t need GH stars at all. or they’ll be reduced to props like Elizabeth. What a waste of a good actress!!
It’s time for Frank and Ron to let go of Roger and Michael. Franco and Silas are ridiculous characters that are not enduring. Money would be better spent on Robert Scorpio, Kevin Collins, Sean and Tiffiny, Brenda and Jax. These are characters GH fans love.
Roger and Michael are essential characters to OLTL in roles they were born to play. Todd and John act as they are going undercover to play Silas and Franco. It’s getting embarrassing and ratings are down. Kristen is the only one making a smooth transition. GH needs to let this go.
not Michael
Oh no!!!
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MICHAEL EASTON AND KELLY MONACO TOGETHER!!
Agreed. I would be happy for Silas to stay. Franco should go, yesterday. And take Kiki with him.
I completely agree with your comment Gentry. Roger and Michael are acting like they are undercover . I am waiting for them to revert back to Todd and John at any minute and yes they are integral parts of OLTL.
fine by me… then they can change crazy Franco into a real quartermaine… which is a different kind of crazy! bwahahahahaha
also, Jason was changed by banging his head and then getting a tumor. So for Franco to have the same kind of tumor and having behavioural changes – trouble knowing right from wrong – Jason had some of the same problems (the nice hit man) – so it’s all good for me.
the switch with Elizabeth being killed, and then not really being there at all was fun!
I was curious why all these people talk about Jason’s tumor and Patrick not having flashbacks to Robin dying… it was all the same time. He mentioned Jason’s tumor being why he came to Port Charles… he was around before then, but Robin ‘died’ in that whole fiasco of making a drug to cure the tumor….
I like the redemption of Franco. It was very moving yesterday with Carly saving him from himself. It was very well done.
I will be very happy when Kiki and Michael learn the truth about Silas. It will be like the fourth of July. 🙂
oh yeah! I loved all those scenes with Franco/Jason on the bridge, especially with Carly… watched that twice on Hulu.com and then watched it again on my DVD recording. Too bad he forgot he was “jason” by the next morning… would have liked more scenes like that with Carly.
Speed up, build you very attractive! It is very simple way. Using these natural products and make you very attractive.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.
Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.
Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.
Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL
Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.
A VENGEFUL PAST
As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.
On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.
Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!
So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
