Galen Gering Back to Days of our Lives

Photo: JPI

Add another Hernandez returning to Salem with news today that Galen Gering will once again reprise and continue on in his role of Rafe Hernandez on NBC’s Days of our Lives.

This comes after word that Gering was written-out of the show after his contract expired, and was supposed to wind up his run on-screen at the end of August.  Well, now, according to EW.com, it looks like Rafe’s stay away from Salem will be brief, since DAYS begins taping all-new episodes the week of August 31st.

DAYS had enough episodes banked through the middle of October when the coronavirus pandemic shutdown television production, so the sudser is the last of the four soaps to come back from the extended halt.

Gering has played Rafe for over since 2008. He took to Twitter once the news broke of his return to DAYS sharing simply, “I’m back.”

So excited to hear Galen is back on DAYS? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

This show should be renamed Coming&Goings or Revolving Doors of our Lives, but seriously if I was a fan,(I was as a teen), I would be frustrated with the never-ending coming and goings, its exhausting just like RC writing.

Hopefully Will & Sonny. Followed a little later by Hope. They should all be back in time for that Xmas tree ceremony at the Horton house…. assuming the set still exists, since nobody seems to live there anymore. Hell, half the people living in the DiMera mansion right now are Hortons! Stefano’s doing cartwheels down here when he thinks about that, believe me!

Of all the actors they’ve let go in the last few months, the one returning is the only one I’m happy to see leave. The character of Rafe has overstayed his welcome, and hasn’t had much in the way of story recently. I’d much rather see Will, Sonny, Eric and Hope stick around.

Nothing against Galen but wish the character would stay gone & take John & Marlena & the half of Salem related to them with him. Show could try focusing on the Johnsons & newer characters on show.

Interesting and good news. Now if only they could persuade Kristian to return with him.
