As many know, TV Guide Canada’s Nelson  Branco first broke and reported the news that Days of our Lives co-executive producer, Gary Tomlin is on his way out of Salem.

In this week’s Suds Report, Branco received some elaboration from sources stating, “Gary did not agree with the firings. He was very upset about having to let Nadia, Crystal [Chappell], and Louise [Sorel] go. He doesn’t understand what’s happening. But he did understand and suspect that he’d be the next to go.”  An actor also told Branco, “He’ll be missed.”

On-Air On-Soaps has additionally confirmed that an official announcement on the situation will be addressed as early as Monday morning.

So, who is set to replace Tomlin? Stay tuned.

I don’t know what’s going on at Days either. Maybe all the fired Days employees can start up their own soap. Morale has got to be low on-set with no one knowing who’s next. When you let top talent like Louise and Crystal and Nadia and great newbies like Bren go, it just boggles the mind. I don’t want to see just the Bradys and Hortons. I’m enjoying Quinn’s story and his interaction with Vivian, Gus, Chloe, and Victor. I can’t wait to see how his connection to Viv is revealed. It’s a shame this story, the actors, and fans… Read more »

I agree. Im not Gary’s Tomlins fan at all especially because we dont have EJAMI, but I agree with him in relation to the firings. I love Louise, Crystal, Nadia and now Bren. They are great assets to the show. There stories were just getting interesting. I hope this firing means that RAFE will be gone for good.
I do however wish him the best of luck in his future.
Im glad the vets are coming back but its sad at the way its happening.

I think the drama going on behind the scenes at Days is more fascinating than most of the drama we’re seeing on the screen right now….

Funny, I was thinking the same thing that Frank Valentini would take over the reigns. I think Ed Scott would make a great EP. He worked wonders there before.

I love Ed Scott- he gave EJAMI the best story but when Tomlin came along, that bwent out the window. I wish he would come back.

It would be nice to have an EP whom actually listens to ALL of the fan bases not just the one of his favored friend. This is a business and personal favorites should not over shadow the business and that is what has happened with the EP and DH. Personal and business should not mix because then you get crap and that is what DOOL has been for the past year, DH pushing HER characters and HER favorites as was GT, NOT what the fans wanted. I pray that the new EP looks at the show as a whole and… Read more »

I wish him well but I’m glad he’s gone along with his Passions agenda. Passions was cancelled twice for a reason. I hated Passions and that influence on DAYS just made me switch the channel. I agree w/ S. McLaughlin. The show should focus on the big picture and not just the favored few. The slanted writing was a MAJOR turn off. It’s unfortunate that so much time was wasted on such drivel when 2013 is just around the corner. The fans should have been given compelling and riveting s/ls not manure. What a waste of resources and talent the… Read more »

Tuesday’s episode of Days of our Lives had Eric Brady saying a sudden farewell to his loved ones before he departs Salem for Africa to help those in need.  That marks the on-screen departure of Daytime Emmy winner, Greg Vaughan who will last be seen on Wednesday’s episode.

As DAYS fans were aware, Greg wrapped his run months ago on the NBC daytime drama series, but since before the Covid-19 pandemic DAYS taped almost seven months ahead, Eric’s on-screen exit is airing this week.

Over the past two days, Vaughan took to his Instagram to share some sentiments, ‘thanks you’s’ and some photos of some of his favorite memories with his castmates expressing, “Seeing it’s the last week I’m airing on @nbcdays …I wanted to share some great captured memories this week with my incredible fans & castmates.”

The actor also posted a special photo album of pics with his longtime on-screen partner and love interest, Arianne Zucker (Nicole).  In that, he posted this message: “To my Ride or Die partner Ari!! Never a dull moment, laughing or crying, she was the party, always with a smile! Love ya #ERICOLE”

Cady McClain IN As DAYS Jennifer Temporarily Replacing Melissa Reeves

Rumors that have been swirling are confirmed true.  Cady McClain is coming to Salem and Days of our Lives to replace Melissa Reeves temporarily as the new Jennifer Horton Deveraux.  The casting news was confirmed by a Days spokesperson, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Daytime fans recall, Cady is a two-time Daytime Emmy winner and has previously appeared as Dixie on All My Children, Rosanna on As the World Turns and Kelly on The Young and the Restless.  McClain has already begun filming as Jennifer.

Reeves, who commutes from Nashville to Los Angeles to tape episodes of Days of our Lives, decided not to return to set when the NBC soap opera resumed production earlier this month due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,

In addition, Melissa became a grandmother last month with her daughter Emily’s first child, and now soon will welcome her son Larry’s first child later this month, which is another reason Reeves chose to stay put in Tennessee.

So, what do you think of the Jennifer switcheroo? Excited to see what Cady brings to the role? Comment below.

‘Knots Landing’s’ Beloved Kevin Dobson Dead at 77

Knots Landing longtime fan favorite, Kevin Dobson (Mack McKenzie) has passed away at the age of 77.  The actor’s death was first reported by the United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County’s Facebook page.  Dobson died on Sunday, September 6th via “medical complications”.

However, The Hollywood Reporter had more clarity and reported that Dobson died Sunday evening in a hospital in Stockton, California, after struggling with an autoimmune deficiency. Arthur Toretzk, Dobson’s rep, shared that with the entertainment news outlet.

The post via Facebook read: “Army Veteran, Veterans Rights Activist, Film and Television Actor Kevin Dobson has passed away. He was 77 Years Old. Condolences to the entire family. Rest In Peace… March 18 1943-September 6 2020.'”   Dobson was the former chairman of the organization.

During his career in primetime, Kevin was also widely known for his work on the crime show, Kojak from 1973 to 1978, playing Detective Bobby Crocker working alongside Telly Savalas.   Earlier in his TV career he appeared on: The Mod SquadEmergency! and Cannon.

When Don Murray’s exited Knots Landing in 1982, Dobson was cast in the role of M. Patrick (“Mack”) McKenzie, the love interest for Michele Lee’s Karen.  Lee and Dobson became an undeniable favorite duo of the CBS primetime soap opera and for all-time in soap history.  During his run on ‘Knot’s from its fourth season to its conclusion in 1993, Dobson won five Soap Opera Digest Awards for his performances.

In addition, Dobson got his start in daytime soaps, and eventually wound back on them following the ending of ‘Knots’.  He first appeared on NBC’s The Doctors. In 2008, DAYS hired him to play Mickey Horton after two other actors did not work out replacing, the original Mickey,  John Clarke, who retired, In shorter stints, Kevin played Governor Harrison Brooks on One Life to Live in 2003. and Judge Devin Owens on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2006.

He is survived by his wife Susan and his three children, Sean Dobson, Patrick Dobson and Mariah Dobson.
