General Hospital’s Adam Huss Stands Up to Trolls and Bullying On His Return as Nikolas Cassadine
It can be a rough road for any actor to take over a part, previously played by other performers, that the viewers have come to know and love. We also know that often times in the soaps, it’s all about familiarity and comfort; seeing the same people you know day in and day out for years, and change can be difficult for some to digest.
That being said, it is never okay to go on to people’s personal accounts on Instagram or any other social platform that is their own, and throw shade at them in the comment section of their posts. Adam Huss, who is now back on General Hospital as Nikolas Cassadine, recently faced this situation.
In should be a wonderful time for Huss, or any actor who lands a great role on a television series. Huss returned on-air with the January 3rd episode o, and is now even being listed in the credits as a cast member of the iconic ABC soap.

Photo: IMDb
Adam’s journey to playing Nikolas went something like this: Huss was originally tapped to temporary fill-in for Marcus Coloma, who was then on-contract in the role. Huss had two stints at the time, September of 2021, then again in November of 2022. After GH and Coloma parted ways, Huss returned at the end of January 31 through the first week in February 2023 to keep Nikolas’ story going. He later made a brief appearance on March 1, 2023. In August and September of 2023, Nikolas and Huss resurfaced.
Taking to his Instagram story with a video message, Huss shared: “I’m always hesitant to do a post like this because, who am I, I’m just another person. But, I just had to talk quickly about my last post about the trolls, because a lot of you have been sending so many sweet, kind messages, and that was not the reason for me posting it. I do appreciate it and there’s been so much positivity and love coming at me from the very beginning of me playing this role of Nikolas, and I’m so grateful that I get to do it. I love it. I love it so much.”
The actor goes on to clarify, “All that post was about was the haters that are out there that come onto my page, there’s no reason for it.” Adam expressed, “I’ve been bullied my whole entire life, especially in this business. You experience it. I’m now confident and strong enough to just say, ‘Stop. Don’t come on my page and do that.'”

Courtesy/ABC
Adam’s appreciative of all the positive thoughts coming his way though, concluding with, “I focus on all this beautiful love coming at me. So thank you so much for that love. I’m just saying be kind. The world’s really rough enough. We’re all going through hard times. Just be kind.”
In his original IG story, Adam wrote, “Here’s the deal- everyone is entitled to their opinions. And I am grateful for the kinds ones. But if your sole purpose in life is to be a nasty troll, don’t do it under my comments in my personal post. Go spew your nastiness to other nastys. I don’t look for you on wherever it is you choose to do so – because I don’t want to live in the negative darkness you live in. So do me a favor and don’t come looking for me here, Thanks!”
So, what do you think about going on to an actors personal accounts and posting disparaging remarks about them? Do you think Adam deserves a shot to win your acceptance of him in the role; when he is finally getting a chance to play Nikolas in what appears to be more full-time? Let us know your thoughts on the matter via the comment section below.
Sadly due to several people who spew nasty name-calling at the highest levels of government – this is the world we are now in.
While I loved the first Nicholas and think he was the best – at least give Adam a decent shot at the part before you condemn him totally. He has been mostly a fill-in and at best a guest performer in place of the other guy (Marcus? can’t even remember his name) who I detested as the dark prince.
I say give him a shot. Otherwise, GH will think twice about ever recasting some of your favorite characters. And we do need some of the more iconic characters – who have not died yet – back.
For instance, I would love to see Lucky (who has successfully been re-cast twice) and Robin back on the canvas. For both, I believe GH would need to recast as those actors will never return.
TRUTH!
There will be a fully operational ski resort on Beelzebub Mountain before they ever attempt a Robin Scorpio recast. She not only grew up on GH, but she was part of one of the biggest stories of the 1990s, the AIDS story with Stone.
As far as the Lucky recasts go…. Jacob Young was pretty much a disaster. Greg Vaughn did a good job, but it was like a completely different character. And he’s moved on to be Eric Brady on Days anyway. Not saying it can’t be done… but Jonathan Jackson is always going to own the role. Both he and Lulu should be there for Bobbie’s memorial. So should their father, for that matter.
I am sorry he has to deal with these irrational hate mongers. Adam sold me with his acting skills when he seamlessly stepped into the role of Nikolas after Marcus vacated the role. The scene where Nikolas realizes how his son betrayed him, and where he breaks down to his mother, was emotionally gut wrenching and compelling.
Agreed
I think Adam Huss is a great actor and enjoy his work very much. I look forward to seeing him on GH.
Bravo to him for standing up.
100% agree
The only thing I don’t like about Nicholas is he always seems to be snarling. I get that he is angry at Ava but it takes away from his handsome face. Other than that I like him as Nicholas and I’m glad he is back
I agree…Totally uncalled for! It honestly takes time to get use to another actor replacing a character we all know this and it usually does happen! I’m sorry Adam had to endure such rudeness!!!! ✌️❤️
To be 666% fair about it, Adam has only appeared in the role in a series of short appearances lasting a week or so each, so he really hasn’t been around enough to evaluate whether or not he’s a suitable fit for the role. From what I have seen so far, he’s a better fit than Marcus Coloma, but time will tell. Don’t think he’s been in a scene with Genie Francis yet, and if he’s not believable as Laura’s son, well that would pretty much rule him out. Don’t think we have seen him with Spencer either.
Obviously there’s only one TRUE Nikolas Cassadine, and we all wanted him to return, but that’s no longer possible. So the question is, do they write the character off permanently, or try to find somebody who can fill in, long term? I don’t see these week long stints being a viable permanent strategy.
In either case, trolling the guy on his social media accounts… well this is why the Devil doesn’t do social media. I have an entire underworld to run here. No time to chase down trolls & bots.
I hate people. Seriously. People are so callous, so insensitive, so nasty, the list is endless. The venom spewed is intolerable and affects not only the victim but others who feel for others. I feel for him. Whether verbal venom is targeted at an individual or a religious group, etc, it’s emotionally painful and damaging. If you’re reading this Adam, I welcome you in the role and respect how you handled the situation. Unfortunately sometimes we can’t reach twisted people; they have no ability to empathize nor do they care how their words affect others. So try your best to ignore them and know that there are those of us who are happy to see you back. Talk to Cynthia Watros who plays Nina. She’s been in your shoes and has forged ahead in spite of the unhinged viewers. Best to you.
Actors are just like normal people. They are hired to do a job and get paid for it. Unfortunately, they are in the public eye. Adam, you are doing a great job. I do confess I was hoping for a Tyler Christopher return, but as we know that will not be happening. I enjoy your scenes with Maura West. Keep up the great work.
Nothing wrong with people having preferences, but bullying and being rude is pathetic. Sadly, it’s one of the biggest negatives of the internet – anonymity
He could grow up and stop lashing out at viewers. Marcus Coloma was gracious and praised his predecessor’s performance and fans. AH has shown none of that grace to Marcus and his fans. If he can’t do that then just focus on getting his job done.
It sounds like you’re justifying the bullying that he’s speaking out against. Is that your intention?
He should grow up? Nah. The trolls of social media and this website should GROW UP and STOP BULLYING altogether. Period. Point blank.
It’s not lashing out when you are defending yourself on your own social media pages. Common courtesy says you don’t go to someone’s pages and insult them. Would you walk into someone’s home and start insulting them? As for praising his predecessor and fans, why is that part of his job? And to date, Mr. Huss has been on the show in a fill-in or guest-star capacity. If this latest return signals something bigger, he may want to reach out to fans in a more encompassing way. But he likely didn’t feel comfortable speaking too much on behalf of the character when he was only a temp. Either way, it’s still abominable behavior for people to insult him on his own turf so to speak.
Leave Adam alone–he’s doing a wonderful job. Not cool to trash people on their social media accounts. He has got the Cassadine portrayal down to perfection.
You are so right
Sorry to hear he’s been getting flack. It can’t be easy stepping into a role that has been recasted as much as this one.
Get off Twitter block then quit your whining get off Twitter it’s a hell hole
He was good as a fill in, but not as a permanent Nicholas, So far he has lacked the many shadings of the character. But he is just an actor hired to do a job, he is doing it, leave him alone.
I am so sorry he is having to deal with this ⏤ specifically from the Marcus Coloma “fans” who cannot seem to handle that their untalented “fave” was fired after he acted a child on that set and had to allow his female co-stars to carry him in every single scene he was in.
Adam Huss, in the limited quantities we’ve experienced, has been OUTSTANDING as Nikolas and shows up for his scenes, and actually ACTS with his co-star, Maura West, and matches her. Hoping this recurring role becomes regular sometime this year.
Scott
You and I have long been in agreement on Huss being a more appropriate fit. An actor who emotes and makes you care about the character.
A good portion of the “fans” you mention may belong to a certain organization with questionable tactics.
I am right there with you, Steve! Loving hearing from you again!!
I agree…Totally uncalled for! It honestly takes time to get use to another actor replacing a character we all know this and it usually does happen! I’m sorry Adam had to endure such rudeness!!
I think the way Nikolas is being written now is the perfect role for Adam Huss. He is very handsome and looks the part of the Cassadines of old and appears to banter well with Maura . This is going to be great ! Best of luck Adam , can’t wait to see how this plays out
This shows just how shallow so many people really can be. As for Adam playing Nikolas, I like him in the role. All the other actors who played the character did very well and I do feel that adam is doing just as well and i do enjoy seeing him in the role. I love that the chracter is back on the canvas and will be looking forward to seeing what Nikolas does these days. Thank you, Adam!!
No one will ever replace Tyler as Nicholas but I thought Marcus Coloma did a pretty great job. Not crazy about Huss in the role, just doesn’t represent Nicholas Cassadine but I wouldn’t go on his media page and trash him
I personally do not like Adam Huss as Nikolas Cassadine

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
