GENERAL HOSPITAL: As Finn’s Life is on the Line, A Heartbroken Anna Apologizes to Chase “I’m So Sorry”

Courtesy/ABC

Monday’s episode of General Hospital brought with it another round of twins Anna and Alex Devane (Finola Hughes) going at each other with guns a-blazing, as Alex has really taken to the dark side including; duping her sister and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and now holding a pregnant Maxie (Kirsten Storms) hostage.

Meanwhile back at General Hospital, Finn’s (Michael Easton) condition takes a nose-dive just as he was trying to deliver key information to Peter (Wes Ramsey) about Alex and Anna  … and that Anna wanted it to be true that she was his birth-mother, not Alex.  As Portia (Brook Kerr) is trying to keep Finn alive, who should enter? His brother, the cop, Chase (Josh Swickard), who is beside himself seeing his big brother like this.

Valentin who is also recovering at the hospital wants to go after Alex; not knowing what is about to happen.  Robert (Tristan Rogers) learns that Finn is being rushed into surgery and that his condition and survival is based on his heart.

On the Haunted Star, Anna and Alex exchange gunfire until Alex is shot, but she is not dead.  Later, on the deck of the yacht, a badly-wounded Alex reappears. She tells Anna they both knew one of them would have to die someday, and shares a cryptic, yet meaningful message that she thought Anna would go back for Peter when he was a child and raise him, but she didn’t, and she has to live with that.  As Anna goes to see if Maxie is alright, Alex rolls herself off the deck into the water.  Anna comes back with Maxie and believes her sister must be dead.

Elsewhere, an overcome Chase heads to the hospital chapel and prays for his brother as he breaks down in tears.  Robert calls Jackie (Kim Delaney) to fill her in on Finn, and she in turn calls his father, Gregory (the incoming Gregory Harrison to the role).  After Anna and Maxie arrive safe and sound at the hospital, Peter runs to Maxie, while a distraught Anna walks by Valentin and Robert.

Next, in the final scene of the episode, Anna joins Chase in the chapel.  She is grief-stricken, guilt-ridden and heartbroken that because of her and her sister, Finn’s life is on the line as she tells Chase, “I’m so sorry.”   They join hands to find the strength to get through this.  It was in these moments that both Finola Hughes and Josh Swickard brought the emotional heart to the story.

So, what did you think of the final scene featuring Finola and Josh?  Do you think Alex will return?  Comment below.

I hope not! I’m sick of the good twin/bad twin scenario! Let’s move on!

Alex was never the evil until GH brought her to town or even talked about her. On AMC she was a normal person. Not like how they rewrote that history but glad they fixed Anna being peters mom
Now get rid of Peter!

Exactly! And thank you! When Alex was on AMC her main flaw was that she was too sensitive and delicate due to chronic health issues. Anna was very protective of her sweet sister.

I was pleasantly surprised by the turn on the Haunted Star. At first, I didn’t think Anna would shoot Alex. Surprise, she did. Then I thought Alex would escape and then I thought she wouldn’t. Surprise, she did. But will she really turn up dead? I doubt it. I’m holding out for her to reappear at the wedding.

I think Finola did an outstanding job and I loved that Josh actually looked like he was worried and near tears for his “brother”.

Great episode!

The only way Alex would be dead-dead is
if Anna was dead..
I’m OK with that/not a fan.
Finn won’t die so I’m watching how it plays out..
The only interesting side is his father is coming.
Peter being outed has to be close.
I think Maxie will lose the baby due to Peters outing.
Perhaps that is also how Lulu will exit- it’s
all tied up with Peter.

Agree with your comment but I believe Robert has doubts about Alex being dead. Hopefully, he will pursue this.

To me, no real drama because I never cared for Finn, never cared for Finn and Anna and I STILL dont like Peter. He and his mommy can go off to wherever and lets focus on PC! Laura is back, we need Lucky and Lulu to return and keep the pedal to the floor on rebuilding the Q’s!

Peter and Maxie are just a terrible couple. Not only do they not seem to be that into each other, they don’t seem to like each other much. There’s no sexual or romantic chemistry. There’s not even a friendly chemistry. How the hell did Peter manage to impregnate Maxie when viewers never got the sense these two ever had sexual relations? And please know I said this well before March 2020 when Covid hit. So we can’t blame this lifeless and sexless couple on the pandemic. Yet, Frank drags this on and on because he believes in this forced puzzle… Read more »

Back in September of 2018, William Burton was given the position of SVP and Head Of Daytime, Sports and Syndicated Development/Production for ABC Entertainment.  He had been in charge of the the business operations for General Hospital at a network level, while Dummer continued to handle the creative.  However today, Burton was also let-go.

The exits come as ABC and Hulu have consolidated original content under Craig Erwich, and 20th Television and Touchstone TV under Karey Burke.

The layoffs are believed to have effected 12 staff members mostly at the executive level.

Deadline broke the news and then updated their story later today.

Just who and what department in the new structuring will take over General Hospital remains to be seen.  We will keep you posted once any additional news or announcements are made.

Emme Rylan On Her Final GH Scenes: “Laying There Emotionless While My Amazing Costars Cried Over My Comatose Body Was One of the Hardest Acting Challenges EVER!”

If you watched Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, you witnessed an emotional and heartbreaking episode where friends, family, and loved ones had to say their goodbyes to Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) before she is transferred to a long-term care facility to be looked after following her brain injuries and surgery which left her in a coma.

This was to mark the last scenes of Emme Rylan who has exited the series after being let-go.  In story, viewers watched as Nikolas (Marcus Coloma), Maxie (Kirsten Storms), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Tracy (Jane Elliot) and a grief-stricken Laura (Genie Francis) sat by Lulu’s hospital bedside telling her they will be waiting for her to wake up, as the agonize over the gravity of the situation.

On Wednesday, Rylan took to social media to tell her fans how difficult it was for her to tape those scenes, when she expressed: “Laying there emotionless while my amazing costars cried over my comatose body was one of the hardest acting challenges EVER! They don’t exactly have you practice that in acting school (Thank u to everyone that noticed).”

In response former GH star Ryan Paevey (Ex-Nathan) who also went through a similar on-screen situation when his character was killed-off tweeted back to Em: “I 100% agree and understand, haha.”

The episode gave  Genie Francis a fantastic palette to play and reminded everyone why she is one of the greatest icons of the genre.

So, what did you think of Emme’s statement on trying to get through those difficult scenes as played by her co-stars?  Share your thoughts below.

Daytime Emmys To Remain Virtual For Upcoming 2021 Ceremony

With an uncertain situation of when live events can get back to normal, or as they have been in the past prior to the coronavirus pandemic, The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced today that it plans on keeping next year’s Daytime Emmys award show virtual, to allow for the 2022 awards cycle to stay on track.

In fact, all of NATAS’s award ceremonies including: the News and Documentary Emmys, Technology & Engineering Emmys and the Sports Emmys will also remain virtual next year.

The Daytime Emmys became the first major award show to air a virtual presentation that others followed back in late June of this year and aired on CBS.

In a statement, NATAS chairman and CEO Adam Sharp expressed on the organization’s decision:“The current timetables articulated by manufacturers project mass availability of vaccinations for the entire U.S. population by mid-summer 2021, potentially permitting a return to more traditional in-person ceremonies later in the fall. However, we have determined that delaying our 2021 events to possibly allow for a compressed calendar of in-person Emmy ceremonies late in the year would result in unacceptable delays to our awards cycle for 2022. Instead, we have decided to remain “virtual” in the format of our ceremonies for 2021 while relying on a substantially pre-COVID awards calendar. In so doing, we believe we will be best-positioned to return to a full, on-time, traditional schedule of in-person ceremonies in 2022.

The dates currently under consideration for the 48th annual Daytime Emmys which would be via two or three nights of presentations are: a combination of dates from Friday, June 25, Saturday, July 17 and/or Sunday, July 18.

For those entering the competition, the entry deadline is February, 17, 2021 with  the nominations not to come till May or June.

So, what do you think about the Daytime Emmys going virtual again for 2021? Comment below.
