GENERAL HOSPITAL: As Finn’s Life is on the Line, A Heartbroken Anna Apologizes to Chase “I’m So Sorry”

Courtesy/ABC

Monday’s episode of General Hospital brought with it another round of twins Anna and Alex Devane (Finola Hughes) going at each other with guns a-blazing, as Alex has really taken to the dark side including; duping her sister and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and now holding a pregnant Maxie (Kirsten Storms) hostage.

Meanwhile back at General Hospital, Finn’s (Michael Easton) condition takes a nose-dive just as he was trying to deliver key information to Peter (Wes Ramsey) about Alex and Anna  … and that Anna wanted it to be true that she was his birth-mother, not Alex.  As Portia (Brook Kerr) is trying to keep Finn alive, who should enter? His brother, the cop, Chase (Josh Swickard), who is beside himself seeing his big brother like this.

Valentin who is also recovering at the hospital wants to go after Alex; not knowing what is about to happen.  Robert (Tristan Rogers) learns that Finn is being rushed into surgery and that his condition and survival is based on his heart.

On the Haunted Star, Anna and Alex exchange gunfire until Alex is shot, but she is not dead.  Later, on the deck of the yacht, a badly-wounded Alex reappears. She tells Anna they both knew one of them would have to die someday, and shares a cryptic, yet meaningful message that she thought Anna would go back for Peter when he was a child and raise him, but she didn’t, and she has to live with that.  As Anna goes to see if Maxie is alright, Alex rolls herself off the deck into the water.  Anna comes back with Maxie and believes her sister must be dead.

Elsewhere, an overcome Chase heads to the hospital chapel and prays for his brother as he breaks down in tears.  Robert calls Jackie (Kim Delaney) to fill her in on Finn, and she in turn calls his father, Gregory (the incoming Gregory Harrison to the role).  After Anna and Maxie arrive safe and sound at the hospital, Peter runs to Maxie, while a distraught Anna walks by Valentin and Robert.

Next, in the final scene of the episode, Anna joins Chase in the chapel.  She is grief-stricken, guilt-ridden and heartbroken that because of her and her sister, Finn’s life is on the line as she tells Chase, “I’m so sorry.”   They join hands to find the strength to get through this.  It was in these moments that both Finola Hughes and Josh Swickard brought the emotional heart to the story.

So, what did you think of the final scene featuring Finola and Josh?  Do you think Alex will return?  Comment below.

I hope not! I’m sick of the good twin/bad twin scenario! Let’s move on!

Alex was never the evil until GH brought her to town or even talked about her. On AMC she was a normal person. Not like how they rewrote that history but glad they fixed Anna being peters mom
Now get rid of Peter!

Exactly! And thank you! When Alex was on AMC her main flaw was that she was too sensitive and delicate due to chronic health issues. Anna was very protective of her sweet sister.

I was pleasantly surprised by the turn on the Haunted Star. At first, I didn’t think Anna would shoot Alex. Surprise, she did. Then I thought Alex would escape and then I thought she wouldn’t. Surprise, she did. But will she really turn up dead? I doubt it. I’m holding out for her to reappear at the wedding.

I think Finola did an outstanding job and I loved that Josh actually looked like he was worried and near tears for his “brother”.

Great episode!

The only way Alex would be dead-dead is
if Anna was dead..
I’m OK with that/not a fan.
Finn won’t die so I’m watching how it plays out..
The only interesting side is his father is coming.
Peter being outed has to be close.
I think Maxie will lose the baby due to Peters outing.
Perhaps that is also how Lulu will exit- it’s
all tied up with Peter.

“Brother”?

Todd
Agree with your comment but I believe Robert has doubts about Alex being dead. Hopefully, he will pursue this.

To me, no real drama because I never cared for Finn, never cared for Finn and Anna and I STILL dont like Peter. He and his mommy can go off to wherever and lets focus on PC! Laura is back, we need Lucky and Lulu to return and keep the pedal to the floor on rebuilding the Q’s!

^^^^ “To me, no real drama because I never cared for Finn, never cared for Finn and Anna and I STILL dont like Peter.”

EXACTLY !!!! YES… just glad when some one else agrees.

@GH from the very start … Anna was dragged down… DOWN… down… STUCK W/ Finn and Peter. these two bores MUST go if you are shaving off salary and budget constraint.

Anna needs Robert back BUT Valentin is starting to pique my interest!

Peter and Maxie are just a terrible couple. Not only do they not seem to be that into each other, they don’t seem to like each other much. There’s no sexual or romantic chemistry. There’s not even a friendly chemistry. How the hell did Peter manage to impregnate Maxie when viewers never got the sense these two ever had sexual relations? And please know I said this well before March 2020 when Covid hit. So we can’t blame this lifeless and sexless couple on the pandemic. Yet, Frank drags this on and on because he believes in this forced puzzle piece of a couple. I usually don’t dare to speak for others, however, I think it’s safe to say viewers have invested zero emotions in this unfortunate coupling. They need to stop forcing it. Sorry, the pregnancy does not autocorrect this lifeless couple.

Just have to say this thing with 60 yr.old Cyrus and the much younger Sasha is disgusting. Hope she didn’t O.D at his house.

General Hospital’s Adam J. Harrington Weighs-in On John and Carly, and How it’s ‘Starting to Get Very Complicated”

On recent episodes of General Hospital, Carly (Laura Wright) came to John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) rescue as he was beaten down in an assault. Carly put on her “nurses cap,” sort of speak, and got John to his hotel room and watched over to him, to make sure he didn’t lose consciousness.

GH fans also got their first glimpse of what may be a new romance for Carly, if she and John continue to bond.  If John and Carly were to have a relationship, it would certainly have a ripple effect with Jason (Steve Burton) and Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Adam J. Harrington shared his view on the scenes and what might be next between the two. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Harrington shared, “I thought it was written in a way where there’s an understanding and a respect between them both. I don’t think there was any moment where she was not aware that he’s an FBI agent, and there was no moment that he wasn’t aware of her history and relationship to other people in the town. I really liked it. I was really looking forward to shooting it with Laura and we had a really nice time shooting it.”

When Carly and John part ways, it seems there were some romantic sparks, as Harrington puts it, “Isn’t that interesting that sometimes with people, the one moment they actually show how they feel is when they know there’s an escape hatch. They know they’re about to walk away. So, it’s almost safe in that moment to do it. I thought that was really special about how (the writers) handled John and Carly. Even the music in that scene was beautifully done.”

Where is this all heading? Conflict! Internally and professionally, and as Adam explains, “Who Carly was to John on paper as just a tool to be used as bait is starting to get very complicated.”

What would you think of a John and Carly pairing? Would you prefer him with Anna, or neither of them? Let us know via the comment section and take our poll below.

General Hospital’s Steve Burton Reveals the Emotional Scene He Almost Could Not Get Through

On a recent episode of General Hospital, Jason received a message from his mother, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) via a note. The effect it had on Jason’s portrayer, Steve Burton turned out to be quite visceral.

As GH fans know, although Jason’s bio-mom was Susan Moore, he was raised and adopted by Monica. Speaking on his Daily Drama podcast with his co-host and GH co-star, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), Steve shared some insight on the difficulties he had getting through that scene.

Burton shared that in the key moment, “Brooklyn (played by Amanda Setton) came in and that’s where she gave me (Jason) the letter from Monica. That was a very hard scene for me to do. That was a tough one. That was the one time I was almost going to call ‘cut!’  It read ‘Jason, I believe in you.’ I was literally going to walk off the set.”

To clarify and in the story, Monica was saying “I believe in you” and that she knows Jason didn’t shoot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). Steve added, “It was tough, man. Emotionally, it was a tough scene. It was overwhelming in the moment.”

Steve went on to detail to Anderson, “She (Brook Lynn) pushed it to me and I read it and she was walking out and I had to stop her, but I was so emotional I couldn’t even get it out.  And at that point, I’m like, ‘Do I just keep going … or do I just walk off the set right now?’ But, I knew just to stay, because it’s so hard to get back there, once you shut it down. I knew, the next take wasn’t going to be the same.”

It’s clear that Leslie Charleson is so missed on-screen as Monica by all of her castmates, and that Jason and Monica had a very special mother/son relationship throughout the decades on GH.

What did you think of the moment when Jason got a note from Monica that said, “I believe in you?” Were you touched as well? Let us know in the comment section. You can check out the latest episode of Steve and Bradford’s podcast below.
