General Hospital
General Hospital Delivers Drama Filled Friday Cliffhanger: Spinelli Finds Out The Truth! Connie is Shot!

Courtesy/ABC
If you have seen Friday’s episode of General Hospital (8/23) you know it was a fast-paced ride, with stories intersecting and heightened dramatic tension, and stellar performances, that made it one of the best episodes of the summer in soaps!
There were several standout moments given to us by several actors: First, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), when Spinelli finally learns the truth that he is the bio-dad to Maxie’s child, which is now in the hands of Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Emme Rylan) was pretty spectacular. How he should find out the truth made this all the more dramatic! It was Ellie (Emily Wilson) who confessed her part in the cover-up and how she came to know that Maxine was carrying around this bombshell of a secret. And the end of the episode, Dante and Lulu hear Spinelli going off on Ellie and come out of the hospital nursery to ask what is going on? Will Damian tell them? What will happen when he confronts Maxie?
As for Kirsten Storms (Maxie), she has broke our hearts over the past several episodes, and on Friday’s episode we leave it with Maxie screaming for her baby … her and Spinelli’s baby … but everyone now thinks she is just delirious and they gave her sedatives! Storms also was perfect in the scenes where she was once again reunited with her sister, Georgie (Lindze Leatherman) on Thursday’s episode when Maxie had an out of body experience!
And how about Maurice Benard (Sonny)? It’s never a good thing to have Sonny in confined spaces, but no one places that wounded little boy and the panic that comes from abuse, better than Benard. There were a few heart-stopping moments in the scenes with Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), and in the end when the elevator opens, he is on his way to see Connie (Kelly Sullivan) to work things out with her! Only … Connie has been shot and is lying in a pool of blood! When we last saw her, she was being threatened by another solid performance by Sean Kanan as a completely drunken AJ, who wants to kill “the bitch” as he called her. Kudos to Kelly Sullivan also. We still can’t believe they have killed-off this amazing talent!
And if all that was not enough, we have “Derek Wells” aka Julian Jerome (William deVry) finding out he is Danny’s bone marrow donor match! Then, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) fills him on the night Sam was conceived and what do you know? “Derek” is starting to look like he may remember that night too! How will this all shake out? Will Sam (Kelly Monaco) meet her father? How will “Derek” explain to Alexis that he is Julian? Will he hide it? So many cliffhangers, and that’s what good soap is all about.
We can’t wait till Monday to see the pick-up of all the drama. Kudos to GH executive producer Frank Valentini, and head writer Ron Carlivati, for ending the summer with a kickass episode that reminds us all why we love soaps!
So what was your favorite moment on Friday’s episode? Who gave your favorite performances? What do you think will be the fallout from all these plot points? Weigh-in below!
Omg. Awesome episode. Brandon A. gave an Emmy winning performance. Kudos GH !
Wrong name, not Brandon, Bradford!
All of the performances on Friday were STELLAR!!! However… Bradford, Kirsten, Sean and Maurice were incredibly STELLAR!!!. Bradford and Kirsten are two of my faves and they always deliver incredible performances and are very under-rated!!! I so wish Bradford were not going recurring… but he needs a chance to see what is out there for him. I selfishly would like to see him stay on contract and have the baby with Maxie bring them back together. Spinelli is one of my favorite characters and they have such a gem in that charcter with Bradford playing him! The possibilities for that character are endless. Maxie has the potential if handled right to be the next Tracy, Anna, Carly and Lucy all rolled into one!!! She is a great complex character that should be on the GH canvas for the next 50 years!!! They can give both KIrsten and Bradford anything and they knock it out of the park… whether they are being emotionally dramatic or comedic they are two characters that make my day when I get to see them play!!!
Maurice and Sean both were so good at emotionally heartfelt scenes and they should be commended!!! Everyone on this week was incredible!!! The show is on fire!!! I am looking forward to next week and every day!!! GH is must see TV and I am so happy it is back firing on all cylinders!!! I am loving my favorite soap and want more!!! Thank you to FV and RC and all of the writers, crew and the best cast in daytime… bar none!!!
amazing tv,,,it really was,,,but i knew the end was coming for connie so i just couldnt get into all the excitement…this is one of those oops in soap opera writing,,,this actress was just to good to let go,,the split personality was not used to fullness,,,they could have gone with one personaility in love with sonny the other with a,j, so many options…connie was one character that really kept my interest so so sorry to see her go,,,she would be one reason id turn into young and restless is if she turned up as new phylis in genoa city..
How can Alexis and Derek/Julian not remember each other…people dont change that much…Did Ava, A.J., or Morgan shoot Connie…or as i agreed with Mary F on a previous post did Connie simply commit suicide?
Drunk and a 1 nighter 30ish years ago, nope they would recognize each other..
But seem the story jerked Julian’s memory, he knows, now.. he is a daddy lol..
I guess i didnt pay attention to the drunk part…lol…thanks for reminding me!!!
Connie did not have a gun to off herself, and she was scared and pleading for her life she had no plans to die..
It is now a murder mystery story; whodunit !! I like those stories and I’ll bet its not AJ..
I love whodunits too, and i agree with you it wont be A.J., but maybe Connie grabbed the gun from A.J. and it went off accidentally? But i hope its Morgan…he will go to prison, Johnny saves him from another inmate who tries to kill him for revenge against Sonny, and Johnny is released and befriended by a grateful Sonny…both men pair up to fight the Jeromes…i hope Ava stays for a long time.
The AJ Connie had written in her own blood will stand for Ava Jerome…
The stress of being threaten could have caused Connie to disassociated into a different personality and one of her alters could have kill another alter, homicide but also suicide, since the alters are all in one body. AJ could have left the gun– I find it hard to believe it was Ava because that seems too obvious– it is not much of a whodunit if everyone already knows who the killer is. That is why I thought a alter of Connie might have emerged and did the deed– not intregrated Connie but a spilt Connie If Ava did it, then I will be disappointed because a good whodunit is the person you least suspect– like the butler— or the maid????
OOHHH God’ I so hope not… IE: about Connie.
could it be, that; with her illness… ? she was such a strong… came on like gangbusters… and fans and critics alike… lauded Kelly Sullivan.
I, like Randy… above… I couldn’t get in to her exit.. because of how GOOD SHE is.
she’s an actress that was so natural at her delivery.
There is a possibility A.J. left his gun behind…Connie, under a lot of stress, picked up the gun and shot herself or it accidentally went off…Then A.J…who was drunk…returned for the gun, seen Connie laying there and fled with the gun…or Connie grabbed the gun from A.J. and it accidentally went off causing her to shoot herself. Maybe Ava witnessed everything and knows exactly what happened but doesnt come forward to not get involved but Kiki finds out and makes her mother go to the police just as A.J. is being sentenced to the electric chair? possible…but i love a mystery no matter how it turns out…
didn’t Ava… say something to the affect….
that… Jerome changed his looks? ie: plastic surgery? that’s what I thought I heard her say… when they first met up.
He probabaly did change his looks but another poster pointed out they were drunk(which i obviously missed)
The AJ Connie had written in her own blood is a clue that Ava Jerome…not A.J. shot Connie and Ava probably did it while A.J. was momentarily passed out…Ava was gone by the time he had awaken…
@jim.
Wow… this is going to be a mystery and a half.
Is it just me, or do the Jeromes seem to be not very well-organized? Thus far, they haven’t been too on top of things, sort of sloppy, just winging it…. and then when all looks to be falling apart ,well, Ava simply gets her gun!!!! For supposedly having spent years plotting this major coup in PC, Julian and sis appear easily thrown whenever their plans go even slightly awry. Let’s just say they both come off a bit….mental, maybe????
It doesn’t get much better on a soap than Friday’s GH. For me Spinelli finding out he is the bio-dad and his lady love covered it up was pure gold. And Derek realizing he is bio-dad to Sam was good too. Both men having different reaction to the news they are fathers was a nice contrast. Can’t wait for Monday to find out what happens next, which is how a good soap story should make you feel—
My favorite part if the show was Spinelli finding out he has a daughter. Finally, the truth is revealed. I don’t want Lulu & Danté to suffer because this truth is finally out though. I guess you can say it couldn’t have happened at a better time because at least they really hadn’t bonded with the little one. It was only fitting that they named her Jacqueline (only if they knew the significance of that name) I can’t wait to see the reaction of Spinelli once he finds out what they named her. Looks as though, Ellie has lost Spinelli anyway by withholding this piece of information from him. That part of this is very sad 🙁
Way to go GH!
DITTO!!
I was impressed!!
Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) was great as a ‘serious’ actor..
He should get more high drama scenes/stories and not always be written as a sidekick wing man..
Give Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) more hard drama!!!!!!
Spinelli – “…I’ve never felt anything like this”
Ellie – “you had intercourse, with Ellie”
therein begets drama…. comedy…
5 days a week!
Ellie.
I hope the fallout isn’t her blame.
didn’t she swear to hide the secret from Spinelli w/Maxie?
Spinelli should be mad at Maxie most
I was more relieved with Mac & Felicia…. that “their” daughter, made it through.
oh damn! I ruined the punchline…
Ellie: “you had intercourse, with Maxie.”
i heared Ellie goes to hospital roof and Franco tells her to jump…true or not…will she!?
I was sad for everyone especially Spinelli, his acting was spot on. My heart ached for him. Also Sonny in the elevator, he went right back to the closet his Father put him in.
And Maxie’s scenes with Georgie. WOW!!!!!!!
GH is on fire! Love how all the secrets and family ties are coming together. GH has one of the best acting troupesmin daytime and they knocked it out of the park. I also enjoyed when Julian/Derek figured out he was the guy Alexis was talking about. My favorite part was when Olivia saw the blood coming from under the elevators door! Reminded me of The Shining! I gather some of you think Ron & Frank have destroyed GH but I think differently. Sure, all is not perfect but its pretty darn close. Im enjoying the show more than ever!
Yes!! Bradford Anderson killed it!!:) Emmy nod and power performance:) The range that he delivered, wow! Nice to see him more than a tech guy, few minutes of detective work and Spinillisms. Looking forward to the rest of the drama, the fallout from the secret.
Also liked Sonny’s performance being trapped in the elevator, they tapped into his claustrophobia b/c of Deek.
Loved seeing Georgie again, like she never left, the way she was guiding and helping Maxie, the chemistry between the sisters and great acting from Lindze. Not to mention the kiss for Mac and Felicia (tissue time).
It’s all tying nicely together, really enjoying the storylines and scenes.
Going to love when Robin returns:)!!
ditto – the chemistry between the sisters and great acting from Lindze. Not to mention the kiss for Mac and Felicia (tissue time).
especially those kisses from Georgia
Thanks Patrick:) I also liked when Felicia was walking towards “spirit Maxie” and looked like she was headed rgt for her. The “ghost” moment was played out nicely too:)
Agree completely!!! Loved the scenes with Georgie and Maxie and Georgie and Mac and Felcia… just so sweet and so well done!!!
Thanks Heidi:)
Never cared much for Georgie….she was always just too prim, plain and proper for my taste. Thus, I have had more than my share of her….she came, she saw, and now she can go again. I am tired of all the “Jones” family drama without Frisco being included…..it’s just not right! Please send Mac and his “bride” off on an extended honeymoon so Maxie’s real father can come back and help her make things right with her own little miss and Papa Spinelli.
G.H. is must see tv…for now!
I would like to see Georgie brought back to General Hospital in real life. The ghost scenes were very touching but I would like to see the real Georgie return
GH is excellent and puts Y&R to shame..
I like thrilling harder drama..
GH has it!!!
We can not have it as good as the past weeks all the time on GH because stories need to build to the wow point we just watched, that takes time, but when the time comes FV, RC and crew knock it out of the park!!!!
I also like the speed .. that we don’t have to wait years to find out, but it all comes out rather quickly..
All last week was epic. Absolutely amazing and heartbreaking scenes all around. Gh has been stealing my heart all year. And this week was reminder so I don’t forget how much I love this show.
GH and everyone were on their A game , love everything but the biggest mistake under FV and RC regime wish is getting rid of such great talent like Kelly sullivan, it really sucks.
I have to put it out their as well.
the biggest mistake under FV and RC regime is getting rid of such great talent like Kelly sullivan, it really sucks.
If only it had been the “candystriper with the magical stethoscope” (aka Sabrina…) instead…….very few would have mourned THAT loss!!!!!!
Maybe Kelly wants to leave. Maybe she has other obligations .
I think there are many of us not happy with getting rid of Kelly Sullivan..she was not meaning she was killed off… that I suppose is to send Sonny in a tail spin..AJ will be blamed, Michael will be torn between two fathers,, and the Jeromes will make their moves… Connie never did get to tell Sonny what she knows about them,, did she… also Britt isn’t prego from Patrick her sick mother stole the Lulu/Dante Embryo , that will come out they will have their baby and Maxie and Spinelli will have their own crap to work out with the ginger too….
Can they please bring JASON back I can’t stand that John.Silas character he brings no life to Sam… why can’t JASON come back as a guy who looks like Jason but isn’t Jason lol!! And the kiki thing,, ridiculous,, really is there only one girl that she they could find?? Either make her star and recast kiki or do away with it..it is so stupid,, bring back star that would be an interesting four way story….
GH is very good right now. I remember the days of swearing off abc, but it appears Frank & Ron have done a good job dusting off this heirloom of daytime and making it fun, relevant and dramatic again, so I’m watching. GH & DAYS are my favorite shows right now. Very well done on the turnaround, guys! Having said that, I’m heartbroken about Connie. Whether played by Megan Ward or Kelly Sullivan, Kate/Connie has consistently been one of my favorite characters on daytime. Plus she’s the only person who could make Sonny tolerable to me. I truly believe she was the love of Sonny’s life. Sorry Brenda/Carly/Olivia fans. This is a heartbreaker for me. I really wish Frank & Ron could have kept our beloved Connie alive.
but it appears Frank & Ron have done a good job dusting off this heirloom of daytime and making it fun, relevant and dramatic again, so I’m watching. GH & DAYS are my favorite shows right now.
I echo your take. BOTH GH & DAYS are on par excellence…
so nice that i’m not the only one… who endears what Kelly Sullivan has accomplished.
I’m heartbroken about Connie. Whether played by Megan Ward or Kelly Sullivan, Kate/Connie has consistently been one of my favorite characters on daytime.
A newbie this lauded…. applause, Ms. Sullivan.
operative word… on Kelly Sullivan.
“Consistent”
with natural ease… complete take… she fully embodied character play and intrigue
my best to Kelly Sullivan.
I thought GH on Friday was fantastic! AJ was awesome! But Spinelli was fabulous and so realistic- some of his best acting yet! I can’t wait to see what happens now. I am sad that it looks like Connie is being killed off. I hope that she miraculously gets through this shooting and just decides to leave town so she can be safer somewhere else. I still think Sullivan is such an amazing actress and it bewilders me that GH has let her go. I do wonder if it was AJ or someone else?? Finally GH is getting good again, in my opinion it’s been a mild summer Port Charles. Bring on the Robin return, Britt baby lie, Maxie’s downfall and Derek Wells. I like him- a lot. It’ll be fun fall!
Gh is good
Spin had his moment
Connie is done
Derek Wells (Julian Jerome) is gonna make Sonny C. Pay!
And Silas and Sam is getting hot!! Film Noir chick (Ava) is gonna be a headache!!!!
All-All GH is doing much better then the YR!!!!
Eat you Heart Out …….Mr. Burton
plus Robin is coming back!
Loved it!!!!
Keeping the focus on the core cast is the key. When they veer into Kiki/Franco land, I just fast forward. Roger Howarth belongs on OLTL as the one and only Todd Manning!
Franco is now irrelevant. He’s not the Danny match, not Kiki’s father, and, in my opinion, not really a Q. Heather lied!
Franco? who is he now? he’s been on long enough… and it’s like any rescue of character and/or redeeming… and or finding his place… went nowhere?
perhaps it’s that clean slate mode… and Roger Howarth does have fan pull his way.
1. i’m kinda glad he’s not kiki’s father… her screeching and loud behaviour I can see less of. immature as well.
2. how will Carly now see him? it’s been so long since Carly’s had relevant story… is she wavering? from the canvas? what would she do now? bed Franco again… and we’ll imagine it’s Todd… Please don’t waste julian talent… with her either.
you cut to the quick… right. LOL… I am definately not treading or fine lining… Silas… I just hope he as well isn’t Kiki’s father…. and start showing some pairing with Sam now… forever and a day… he’s on track, IMO, with his direct approach to Sam/daniel/rafe… and his position at general hospital…
kiki…. not so much interested at all…. featuring her in this “summer teen angst” blah… story comeback… was tiring and bleak to see any promise for all three of these characters…. michael/kiki/morgan. it’s no longer that interesting that michael and star kiki… find themselves.
franco – he’s lucky he’s roger howarth… but.. where does he go? if he isn’t a q… and what… backpeddles to Carly? you said it perfectly… from an audience viewpoint… irrelevant.
No, he’s more like a blank canvas….heis now free to be anyone he (and RoHo/Cartini) choose him to be….a fresh beginning, so to speak. I think it is all according to plan, to make Franco2.0 more palatable and redeeming in nature. But instead of using the predictable means we thought we saw coming, there will be some surprises along the way. I don’t mind the slow pace of the journey after the frenetic intro to the revamped character…kind of adopting a wait and see attitude, since I like RH and respect his acting abilities. About the only thing I really don’t want to have happen is another pairing with Carly….she and Todd were fine together, but this time around I would like new direction for both LW and RH.
P.S. I’m with you, Patrick, on the doubtful claim that Silas is truly Kiki’s father. That is just a cover story Ava is using to protect her daughter and even more likely, herself!!! As I have previously mentioned, something really is not right with that Jerome clan….think there are an awful lot of skeletons to be yet unearthed!!!! All I know is that it is getting a bit crowded on the “paternity go-round” at this point….a bit too much of who’s your daddy going on in PC!!!!
Bravo GH!! Friday’s episode knocked it out of the park. GH is much more exciting than the Y&R and should be #1 in my opinion. The Y&R moves at a snail’s pace with the same storylines played out over and over again.
The acting of the GH cast is always stellar!!
This is what Ron C. does best…weave stories together until there is this awesome reveal. It came sometimes be painful getting there but its definately worth it!
Her name is not MAXINE.
An amazing week in Port Charles! Loved the scenes between Luke and Sonny! Loved seeing AJ in his downward spiral! Loved the Kate and Tracy scenes! Loved finally seeing Franco! (Besides the Michael, Kiki, and Morgan fiasco storyline, loved it all)!
I really GH a lot on Fri. episode . The **** hit the fan! Major KA-BOOM! AWESOME! Will be watching today for sure.. Can’t wait to see what will happen next.. Again really enjoyed GH episode on Fri.. In fact, I always enjoy watching GH!
I really liked Spinell’s performance ! I hope he tells LuLu & Dante the truth that he is the father & Maxi is the babys mom..
I for one loves GH. I cannot wait for todays episode, and the rest of the week. Love it, love it..
Amazing amazing amazing! Carlivati blows me away with his sense of timing and plotting.
When Kelly Sullivan took over the roll of Connie/Kate from Megan Ward I was disappointed because I really liked Megan. However Kelly really made that character her own and did so with excellent acting! Not many actors can play dual characters with such conviction and believability. GH, you have done your viewers, Ms Sullivan, the other cast members and even yourselves a disservice. Shame on you GH!
I agree,,, I loved Kelly as Kate/Connie she was amazing as Connie. Both but how funny was she with Todd?? Lol! 🙂 she was great with sonny too. I was very host that she died,, I never saw that coming and not happy it did at all. However, did you notice when she was writing the initials in her blood she had a smile creep across her face,, slight but definite..
So Sonny finds Connie but waits until blood is coming put of her mouth to call 911…Did you guys hear that 911 call? Jesaus i hope i never need him to help me!! Also i am tired of Kelly Monaco. Where was the emotion in her performances during the Danny saga? I dont even see real relief and joy now that their is a donor. I like better Silas with Ava.
Don not bet on it
Kelly and Silas for the win
I loathe Ms Lana Turner wanntbe
oh my god — they killed Connie! you bastards!
you know another twist would be that Maxie was actually carrying Dante & Lulu’s child AND the britch is carrying another child for them as well… dashing the “truth” coming out about Maxie & Spinelli’s baby existing at all… but now Spinelli knows that both Maxie and Ellie kept what they thought was the truth from him….
Not Ava, we would lose Maura!
Okay….now that we have dispensed with poor “Connie,” may we now return to the stupendously sublime shrew of sangfroid, Dr. StrangeO.???? Her absence has left such an unwelcome and overwhelming void these past few days…..

‘General Hospital’s’ Finola Hughes Delivers the ‘Power Performance of the Week’

There was never any doubt that in watching the riveting and emotional scenes on General Hospital which featured Finola Hughes as a PTSD-driven and mentally tortured Anna Devane, that when the climatic moments in Anna’s story aired, that we would not be singing the praises of Hughes. Once again, Finola showcased why she is one of the soap opera genres greatest assets and actresses.
In the key scenes, Anna has had a complete breakdown as she has lured and cornered Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) on Mount Emerson, and even thought through how she would kill her and cover it up, all thanks to hearing the voice and seeing a dead man, Peter August (Wes Ramsey). It’s visions of Peter that keeps egging Anna on to pull the trigger on Britt while in her delusional state.
Before Britt realizes that Anna trapped her in meeting her in Mount Emerson, she is very confused as to why she was all the way out in the boondocks to talk about what happened to her brother, Cassius Faison. However, Britt soon learned that what Anna was about to do is personal, and not professional, as she pulls the gun on her.

Courtesy/ABC
ANNA FIRES HER GUN IN GAME-CHANGING MOMENT
When Jason (Steve Burton) shows up to save the say, he tries to talk Anna off the ledge, begging her to not shoot Britt and make one of the greatest mistakes of his life. When Jason figured out Anna felt she needed to kill anyone related to Cesar Faison, he made her think twice, because that would mean, she also would need to end the lives of two of Maxie’s children, James and Bailey Lu.
Anna can’t stop seeing hallucinations of Peter pushing her to shoot Britt. Suddenly and completely overcome, Anna fires bullets straight in the direction of where she sees Peter as she declares this all must end tonight.
After the shots are fired, Anna realized what she had done and just sobbed and shook. It was a devastating and heartbreaking moment for longtime General Hospital fans to see the beloved Anna Devane, super spy, so lost. Anna explained to Jason, after he was able to disarm her, how she was being pushed to kill Britt by her visions of Peter.
EMMY-WORTHY SCENES FOR 2027
In another hankie-inducing moment, Anna just grabs Jason and breaks down in his arms. If these weren’t Emmy-worthy scenes, we don’t know what is, and it must be remembered by Hughes, General Hospital, and hopefully the voting body of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) when Emmy submissions and voting get underway in 2027 for the 54th annual Daytime Emmys.
From everything we noted above, to the sheer brilliance of her work, Michael Fairman TV names Finola Hughes, this week’s Power Performance of the Week.
Now let us know, do you agree with our pick of Finola? Were you moved to tears during the gut-wrenching scenes? Should Finola include these scenes in an Emmy submission in 2027, should she decide to compete for Lead Actress gold? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

RATINGS: ‘General Hospital’ Shows Most Gains in Total Viewers Week-Over-Week and Up in Key Demo

The ratings are out for the week of August 24-28 for your favorite broadcast television soaps, and it was ABC’s General Hospital which added the most total viewers and planted itself firmly in third place in its battle with Beyond the Gates in the key demos of women 18-49 and 25-54.
According to Soap Opera Network, all daytime dramas were up year-over-year, and General Hospital was joined by The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful with gains in their total audience viewership, while Beyond the Gates was only slightly off pace for the ratings week.
Let’s take a look at what had viewers tuning-in, starting with General Hospital, who added +79,000 viewers. While still under the 2 million viewers mark (which they can hopefully return in the coming weeks) their overall tally was an average of 1, 935,000 tuning-in, while still up year-to-year +136,000.
GENERAL HOSPITAL
In addition, GH while actually down from the previous week in the 18-49 ratings share, they still out performed Beyond the Gates for third place. However, GH was firmly in third place for the 25-54 ratings share.
The stories that were featured for the week included: Anna’s (Finola Hughes) PTSD and struggle with painful memories tied to Cesar Faison, and her concocting a plan to get rid of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) recording Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) threatening her, and later running into a severe threat from Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) regarding Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting, and Drew enlisting Ava (Maura West) to gain leverage over Jack, which resulted in Ava drugging him, while Drew went snooping for the evidence Brennan had against him.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
Y&R remained in the top spot amongst all the soaps once again with 3,062,000 tuning in, and up +35,000 for the week, while year-to-year still showing strong gains at +231,000 viewers. However, while Y&R remained #1 for the 25-54 ratings share, it fell to #2 in the 18-49 ratings share behind The Bold and the Beautiful.

But as viewers know now, Steffy is pregnant!

BEYOND THE GATES
Beyond the Gates tallied an average of 1,611,000 total viewers for the week, up +72.000 year-over-year and down slightly in tune-in for the week losing just -36,000 viewers. The CBS soap came in fourth place in the key demos for the week behind General Hospital, with whom they are often trading places for the third spot.
In story, after Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) was released from the hospital, Hayley (Marquita Goings) stuck to her plan, doubling down on poisoning him and even getting caught in a major lie or meeting with Randy (Maurice P. Kerry), as Vernon (Clifton Davis) may be on to her machinations.
The ratings report is generated from Nielsen (Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel) for the week of August 24-28, 2026

Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)

It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.
The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.
Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST
Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”
Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”
Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

KELLY SULLIVAN PARTING THOUGHTS AS SHE LEFT GENERAL HOSPITAL
Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”
