General Hospital Director, Phideaux Xaxier, to Perform New Song on Upcoming Episode

The multi-talented Daytime Emmy-winning director, Phideaux Xavier, will get to showcase the other side of his entertainment career on the November 11th episode of General Hospital.

The long-running GH director, who has been responsible for some of the all-time great episodes of the ABC daytime drama series, is also a well-known musician, singer, and songwriter.

Well, in a soap opera twist, viewers will get to see Xavier performing at Curtis’ (Donnell Turner) new nightclub, the Savoy, as a lead singer of a band.  During the episode Phideaux will be performing his new song, “Do What You Will”.

Throughout his daytime career, Phideaux has kept his music career separate, and then one day, a phone call from GH EP Frank Valentini changed all that.

Phideaux explained how it call came about in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now: “General Hospital has been very gracious in allowing me time off periodically to work on my music and I recently had three months off the show to work on music, and I was preparing for a very small concert in New Jersey, walking down the street in New York, and I get a call from Frank.  He said, ‘Hey Phideaux, listen, we have an upcoming scene in Curtis’ nightclub that requires a band, and we were thinking, perhaps you could perform on the show.”‘

In getting this opportunity to be in-front of the camera, singing his own song on a soap, no less, Xavier added, “The idea that, one day, you’ll be performing a song that you wrote on General Hospital was nothing I ever thought possible.”

So, what do you think of GH giving Xavier the chance to perform on the show? Intrigued to hear his new song? Comment below.

it’s cool, but the song was weak. Sorry… it may have been the mix. kinda hard to get a great rock sound when you are shooting a serial. It is not the priority. I work with sound and music, and this fell short. Should have been a heavier mix. Just my opinion.

Pretty much a Billy Idol clone, but otherwise not bad. Definitely better than the autotuned Disney bubblegum crap we got when ReRon was writing the show.

Glad Phideaux was able to showcase his talents on GH. We need way more rockers! Less crappy bubblegum pop & auto-tuning!

Bryan Craig Teases His Role in Upcoming ‘Joker’ Sequel

Former General Hospital star and two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan Corinthos) has been quite busy these days with his continuing role on Freeform’s Good Trouble and now the biggest tease of all!

Craig took to his Instagram account and posted an intriguing pic, which from all indications mean he has landed a part in the upcoming motion picture Joker sequel Folie à Deux! (“Madness for Two”).

Because details on the upcoming film have been top secret, Craig erased his character’s name on his cast parking sign when he posted the image.

What we do know is that the upcoming Joker sequel will see the return of Joaquin Phoenix in his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck. The cast includes Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, plus Brendan Gleeson, Zazie Beets, and Catherine Keener.

The film is due out in 2024.

Looking forward to seeing Bryan in Folie à Deux? Comment below.

GH’s Parry Shen Delivers the ‘Power Performance of the Week’

How many of us have lost, or had to say goodbye to our best friend? Somehow fate or illness intervenes and cuts short someone you share so many memories with.

On last Thursday’s episode of General Hospital, Dr. Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) family and friends gathered for her memorial at the GH chapel.  However, viewers knew of the special connection between Britt and her bestie, Brad Cooper (Parry Shen).

Photo: ABC

Devastated at losing Britt, upset that she never told him she about her diagnosis with Huntington’s Disease, and mourning her death, Brad comes to her former office, where Britt was the Co-Chief of Staff at the hospital. After exchanging heartfelt moments with Britt’s mother, the grieving Liesl (Kathleen Gati), and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), Brad (with a paper bag in hand) spends some time alone in Britt’s former office, which has now been cleaned out.

Next, Brad takes out a carton of ice cream (for those who know the back-story, Britt and Brad would sit together each with ice cream and watch the red carpet at the Nurses’ Ball on TV and hoot and howl at the residents of Port Charles), and thus begins a very emotional and five-hankie moment, where Brad recalls all the key moments in their friendship.

Parry Shen was so touching in this scene, that if you have been a fans of Britt and Brad’s friendship, we are sure you shed some tears.

Later, during the memorial, Brad is pained listening to the others eulogize Britt, and when it is his turn to speak, he does his best to get through it and pay homage to his best friend.

We will miss the Brad and Britt friendship as will many GH viewers for it was one-of-a-kind on the soaps – two originally, not so nice people, doing bad things and finding common ground with each other, and eventually turning their lives around and being there to support each other.

For all of these scenes mentioned above, Michael Fairman TV names Parry Shen’s work, the Power Performance of the Week.  You can check out a clip featuring Shen below.

Now, let us know, what did you think of Parry’s Performance during Britt’s memorial episode? Comment below.

Marcus Coloma On His GH Exit: “I Don’t Know Why That Decision Was Made, But I Don’t Feel Any ill Will and I Didn’t Feel I Got Fired”

This week, GH fans saw Adam Huss returning to the ABC soap opera as Nikolas Cassadine to finish out the rest of the scenes originally intended to be played by Marcus Coloma who ended his three-year run on the show a tad early.

As has been previously reported, Coloma came down with Covid-19 as his final tape days neared, and a decision was made for him to not return to finish off his last run of episodes.

With all the rumors and stances taken by everyone involved, Coloma was the special guest on this week’s episode of the That’s Awesome Podcast hosted by Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson and discussed his departure from the long-running daytime drama series.

Marcus expressed that when he took the role on GH, he was excited to be in that kind of environment (working on a soap opera), and only signed on for three years.  However, as time went by it became more difficult to reconcile leaving when his contract was up, sharing: “You fall in love with the crew and everybody along with it. So, two and a half years in, this decision that was so clear in the beginning is getting complicated.”

The actor added that while, “I knew the end was coming, it wasn’t like GH was saying, ‘Hey, Marcus, we want you to stay.’  There was no negotiation … and all I can say to that is I don’t know why that decision was made, but I don’t feel any ill will and I didn’t feel like I got fired. It just felt like … there was maybe an understanding that I was going to be there for three years. The big surprise is how much it hurt. Even though I knew I was going to leave.”

In the end, Coloma reflected that this may have concluded as it should, adding, “I really do have some big goals and those goals would have never been realized if I would have stayed. That’s not to take anything away from GH because I admire everything about it.”

Watch the episode of That’s Awesome featuring Coloma below.

Then weigh-in, what do you think of Marcus’ thoughts on his exit as GH’s Nikolas Cassadine? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
