‘General Hospital’s’ Eden McCoy Talks Josslyn’s Confrontation with Carly, Taking Sonny Down, WSB and Where’s Vaughan? (Exclusive)
Over the past week, General Hospital watched the long-awaited showdown between now WSB agent, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and her mother Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), which unfolds after Josslyn finds Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) stowed away in Carly’s attic.
As the scenes played out Josslyn learned that her mother already knew about her spy work and involvement and was actively plotting to get her out from under the thumb of Carly’s boyfriend, Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) by teaming up with Valentin.
Next, came the fireworks, when Carly and Josslyn had it out in Carly’s kitchen which led to more stunning reveals, and betrayals. One of which was Josslyn learning it was Jason (Steve Burton) who spilled the beans she was WSB to her mother, so eventually she has a showdown with him too! Now with everyone’s cards (sort of) on the table, how will Josslyn navigate the situation from here?

In an exclusive full-length conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, McCoy talks about taping the pivotal scenes with Laura Wright and Steve Burton, how Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) plays in to her motivations or not, what happened to her WSB trainer turned lover, Vaughan (Bryce Durfee)? Will Joss get a new love interest … and so much more.
Here are just a few of the intriguing excerpts from this Daytime Emmy-winning star below, who come this October will celebrate her 11th anniversary with the ABC daytime drama series as most of us have watched her grow-up on-screen before our very eyes.
THE MOTHER OF ALL SHOWDOWNS
Playing the intensity of the scenes with her longtime scene partner and on-screen mother, Laura Wright, was something both actresses knew going into the double reveal was important to get just right.
Eden explained, “We knew that it was highly anticipated, just from the audience’s perspective. It’s also anticipated on our ends. We’ve been wondering how they were going to write it, what it was going to look like. Laura and I were very involved. We were very clear with what we wanted, at least, how we wanted it to feel in terms of us doing it. We just wanted it to feel good. It was a really collaborative day on set. The writers killed it. They had great words on the page for all of us. It just became this delicious feast of chaos.”
TAKING SONNY DOWN

Photo: ABC
During her confrontation with Carly, Josslyn blurts out that the reason she chose to be in the WSB, and remain in the WSB, was because she wants to bring down Carly’s ex-husband, and mob boss, Sonny Corinthos. The confession stunned Carly, who blames herself, for how Josslyn turned to the dangerous life of a WSB agent. However, many viewers were questioning were that came from, because it seemed like she joined the WSB to at first, avenge her late boyfriend, Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer) death.
“I think, at first, I struggled with the concept of me just joining the WSB, to bring Sonny down,” shared McCoy. “Me as Eden didn’t see that that way, at least at first. It feels like a big reveal because Josslyn is saying a lot of feelings she’s carried for a long time that are older feelings to have that she never really vocalized to her mother and this is that opportunity. I don’t think it’s her sole mission to bring Sonny down, specifically. I just think it’s more a rebellion against the history of her family and her choice as a grown woman at this point. To be on the other side of the coin, I think that obviously, Sonny and his behavior towards her mother, who she’s extremely protective of and Donna and her siblings, and people that have died, in regards to Sonny (is at play). They’re all very intense traumatic events in this person’s life”
Eden continued on Josslyn’s admission to Carly, “I think that she was just able to finally vocalize like, ‘Hey, this is about Sonny, but this is about me. This is about me not signing up anymore. What’s the alternative? Being a lifeguard for another 10 years and pretending like I’m okay with everything that’s happened and not doing anything about it?’ I think the million dollar question is, ‘What lines is she willing to cross?'”
JASON RATTING OUT JOSSLYN

Coutesy/ABC
After Josslyn’s emotional fallout with Carly, she hightails it to Jason’s “office,” to confront the man she thought had her back. Jason has known since finding Joss with Vaughan at the Five Poppies in Dalmatia and rescuing them, that she was indeed in the WSB. However, his deep friendship with Carly eventually caused him to admit that Josslyn was working with Jack Brennan. Eden McCoy gave nothing but praise to her co-star on pulling the right emotions from her during the key scenes.
“Steve’s amazing. I think we’ve always had a really specific dynamic on and off screen,” expressed McCoy. “I always love his stability in the scenes that we usually have together. It’s me freaking out about something and him kind of being that stoic, stable force, which works so well for him and he plays amazingly. It helps me out (as an actress) because it kind of just helps me spiral more!”
SHOOTING CYRUS RENAULT

Josslyn’s spiral into the world of WSB, is thanks, in part, to Brennan leading her to Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) with breadcrumbs of clues, where many thought he used an innocent young woman to kill the guy, while he explains it that it was part of a test to make her an agent. After Renault murdered her boyfriend, Dex, her grief was so great that she shot him dead. Since that time, there hasn’t been much discussion of how that moment changed her. McCoy explains how she feels about Josslyn’s grief and loss set against the backdrop of her character’s spy work.
“I would love to explore that trauma more in depth. But I think in this moment it’s almost, she doesn’t have the room,” said McCoy. “This is an autopilot situation. She killed someone, was put into this world/chose to be in this world, and yes, things get murky there, but she’s committed and now feels it’s too late. Right now, I think she doesn’t feel like she has a choice but to continue. I think that that’s a fun place to be (as an actress).”
McCoy also said that she knew the plan for Josslyn quite a bit before her character shift, and how she would land in the position she finds herself now. “I was told everything at the same time. A long time ago, I was told Josslyn kills Cyrus and then you’re going be a spy, and then you’re going to be in the WSB, and that was kind of all I was told.” Eden added, “I was just super stoked. I haven’t done anything similar and I thought that their decision to kind of have this be, in a way, how Josslyn grieves another loss and another boyfriend’s death was interesting. I was excited.”
WHERE’S MY LEADING MAN?

Photo: ABC
As for Josslyn’s love life, well, that’s not going very well, yet again. After being involved with Vaughan, he wound up being whisked away and no one has heard about him since! Eden McCoy weighed-in on the potential resurfacing of her WSB trainer/lover or a new man entering her life.
Eden shared on Vaughan, “I mean, he’s not dead, right? So, that’s a plus! Not that even matters on the soaps because you know, if you’re dead, you can come back! Â Josslyn feels like Eden does, like, ‘Wait? Where did he go?’ I think that trope is so fun … that weird enemies to lovers trope and you can’t be having sex with your coworker, trope, love all that. It’s soapy and fun. Bryce was great. I think that they could always bring him back. I don’t know if that’s the plan, but he was great and everybody loved him.”
As for a future love interest with another character, McCoy answered, “Listen, anything is fine by me. I’m just a down girl, whatever they want I’m down to do it.”
So, what did you think about the showdown scenes with Josslyn, Carly and Jason? Do you think Joss’ true motivation is to take Sonny down? Do you hope GH brings back Bryce Durfee, or pairs Eden with a brand new love interest? Do you also think Josslyn will land herself in a situation she can’t get out of with the likes of Sidwell and Cullum and company? Weigh-in via the comment section, and watch our full chat with Eden below.
You suggested Ethan as a possible love interest for Joss, and stated they are not related. They most definitely are. As you noted, he is Luke’s son. Joss is Bobbie’s granddaughter. Ethan and Joss are first cousins once removed.
Michael, did you also forget how bad things turned out recently with Cody and Sasha when the show decided to Make Sasha Roberts daughter thus making Cody and Sasha kissing cousins? we definitely don’t need another round with Joss and Ethan.
Well, Edgar Allen Poe married his first cousin Virginia and he was a perfectly normal gent.
Can we also mention the 15 year age difference between Joss and Ethan? Yes, Vaughn was also older, but that was more ambiguous.
Dean/Parsons didn’t pair well visually with Ainsworth (mainly because she was blessed with slow-aging genes). If he’s sticking around long, there’s better opportunities in his zone.
With all the press she’s been doing recently, perhaps we can disregard the rumors of her leaving the show.
Eden’s done some of her best work recently. If she chooses, she’ll have a long career in soaps.
Vaughan is gone he’s was just dex 2.0
We don’t need Vaughan back he was just sex 2.0
You mean, Dex 2.0?
If we are counting Joss’s hook- up’s… I think Vaughan is 3.0 ?
Wouldn’t it be funny for Vaugn to come back and take down both Jack and his boss. They need to bring back Vaughm for her, he might ne able to blunt the feelings she has about taking Sonny down
They do not need to bring back Vaughn he was just dex 2.0
He’s dex 2.0 no thank you
it took me a while but I do like joss as a wsb agent, but I also believe Emma is a better fit and maybe down the line she will be a WSB agent too. I believe the gals are move believable as spy then the guys are, I mean Dante was a bust but back to joss, I was glad she put both Jason and her mom in their place, the hypocrisy w/ Jason, and well Carly is Carly and joss is her daughter, but I do not like Carly with Valentine. Miss to OG WSB group, Robert, Anna, Sean, and Frisco.
I agree with you on all counts except I still don’t enjoy Skipper Jax as a WSB agent( parts and accessories sold separately). Watching her stalk around brandishing a gun, pistol whipping Valentin and then kicking him in the nuts just feels kind of icky. Anna was a natural at this- she had that certain spy mystique that Joss lacks. Eden is a terrific actress but playing a WSB agent clashes with her perky persona. I hope Carly wins this one. I mean, she has now slept with two men on her frantic efforts to get her daughter out of the WSB. That incredible selfless sacrifice shouldn’t be for nothing!
Once upon a time, there were 3 littles girls… But I took them away from that. My name is Jack. Joss, Emma and Jacinda, Jack’s Angels. Not that I’m a Jack fan. Or really a WSB fan. The whole secrecy behind it. “You can’t let anyone know you’re in the WSB or it’s treason”? Really? Treason? The writers seem to love to throw “Treason” around lately. I mean I guess if they can’t understand how replacing a Representative works, we can’t expect them to know how treason works.
Her confrontation scenes with Laura and Steve were mesmerizing. I kept thinking that this was so next level and might earn her an Emmy nod. This confrontational, take no prisoners Joss is what I’d like to see more of. Maybe she’ll take down the big, bad, super boss at the WSB all by herself. LOL! Congrats to Eden!
I think it’s a bunch of croc Jason killed people but she love him. She just hates Sunny. She killed somebody and she didn’t pay for it so I guess that’s OK because it’s her. The writers need to do better cause the shit she be saying makes no sense cause she’s no better than Sunny.
So true.
Jason never hurt Carly or cheated on her or almost killed her
Eden is so cute–she looks like Lisa Kudrow.

‘General Hospital’s’ Amanda Setton Talks Her Reaction, Scenes, and Co-Stars After Becoming a Daytime Emmy Nominee for the First Time (Exclusive)

When the nominations were announced for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards earlier this week, General Hospital fans were thrilled to see Amanda Setton’s name as one of this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actress nominees.
It marks the first time in her career that she has ever been nominated. Setton has played Brook Lynn Quartermaine since 2019. Soap viewers first saw her in the role of Kimberly Andrews on One Life to Live during her run from 2009-2011.
Amanda received her Daytime Emmy nomination for her emotional turn as Brook Lynn learned she had been lied to by her mother, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) for years, after giving up her baby for adoption as a teen. Little did she know she had a secret son living with her this whole time at the Quartermaine mansion in Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza).

Photo: ABC
During an exclusive conversation live on Tuesday night, July 14, during the Michael Fairman Channel’s annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special, she discussed her reaction to the news, her nominated reel and her GH co-stars.
GOING FOR EMMY GOLD
Setton explained how she found out she was a Emmy nominee! “Frank Valentini called me, our boss. It was such a beautiful moving moment. I’ve known Frank for 20 years and to share this with him, I’m indebted to him on a lot of levels. I was in the car with my husband. We were going for a hike. We got away for just a couple days, just the two of us. It was early in the morning and to share that moment with Frank, to share that moment with my husband, it was the best. We cried and I’m just so grateful.”
The Supporting Actress nominee shared what scenes she submitted: “My reel was obviously about the Gio storyline. It started with the scenes with Lulu (Alexa Havins) and shout out to Alexa! She’s the best. It’s when I first find out that she knows and that I had boy. Then, begging her not to tell Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and just to leave it alone, then into the scenes with Rena Sofer, shout out to her! She is the best. I love her. I spoke to her today. She deserved to also be nominated. They are the scenes right after I find out at the Nurses’ Ball, and right after Brooklyn finds out that Gio is her son, not her cousin. Then my reel ended with the scene with Gio in the kitchen when Brook Lynn’s first sees him after the Nurses’ Ball and she says, ‘We can work this out,’ and he’s like, ‘No, we can’t,” and he walks away. It was an amazing story and kudos to the writers.”

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCENES
It is always important in the Emmy game to put together a submission, so that someone who doesn’t watch the show day to day, can grasp the story of what’s happening to your character. Setton explained how she went about assembling the choices for her scenes. “Between Michelle Henry (producer, GH) and Frank, they said, ‘You need to tell the story. Find the scenes that tell the story.” Once I did it was clear to all of us, the story has been told,” shared Amanda.
“Anyone who’s watching this reel can get a feel for the intensity of the story. I think after even the first scene where you’re just like, ‘Wait a minute! This girl had a baby? She didn’t know if it was a boy or girl?’ Now this nemesis of her wants to … ‘What’s happening? What’s going on? And then the mom knew the story? ‘ So by the end, your heart’s just broken for this girl.”
Initially, Amanda like the viewers were trying to figure out how GH would make sense of the story, where suddenly years later we find out Brook Lynn got pregnant at summer camp by Dante! Setton said, “Once they (the writers) started building it out and you saw all the different relationships playing out between her and her mother, her and Dante, her and Lulu, her and Gio, her and her husband Chase (Josh Swickard), even Tracy (Jane Elliot), and then the fallout of all of it, it just touched so many characters on the canvas. I think it was like a huge juicy burger for the fans to just take a big bite.”

AMANDA SETTON TALKS ON HER TV SON GIOVANNI MAZZA
In addition to Amanda, both Giovanni Mazza and Braedyn Bruner (Emma) landed their first ever nominations in the Emerging Talent category. Setton shared how she and Mazza have developed such a close bond.
“Gio and I are super close. Right from the start, we just hit it off. He is such a delight. He’s so hardworking. He’s such an eager learner. He’s always looking to be better. He always wants to grow. That’s a huge testament to his work ethic,” explains Amanda. “He’s an amazing person, and over the last couple of years, we’ve had many deep conversations about work, about life, perspective, gratitude, values, a lot of different deep things. I could not be more thrilled for Gio and this moment for him. It is well deserved. He has worked so hard for it. I really hope he wins. Although, I also love Braedyn!”
One of the most unforgettable moments of 2025 in the soaps is when Gio takes to the Nurses’ Ball stage after overhearing Lulu and Lois talk that he is the biological son of Brook Lynn and Dante. Ready to begin to play his violin, he smashes it pieces and storms off. Setton was in the scene and recalls, “That was wild. He did such a great job with that. That is not an easy moment to hit, pun intended. He nailed it.”

THE CONNECTION WITH JANE ELLIOT
On General Hospital, Brook Lynn is close with her ‘Granny,” the one and only Tracy Quartermaine, and in real life Amanda is very close with Jane Elliot, with whom she was able to share the news of her nomination. “First of all, this woman has become one of my closest friends.”
Amanda adds, I’m not exaggerating. I am confident to say she would say the same. We’ve become really close friends outside of work. We speak, almost every day. We just went out to lunch last week. She’s become such a close person in my life over these last few years. She’s such a leader. Jane’s a really special person in my life after my family. I wanted to share the news of this nomination with her and she was over the moon.”
HARD WORK PAID OFF
Getting a pat on the back from her peers is one of the more touching moments in Amanda’s career, as she explains: “I have to say we’re in the daytime world, so for us it feels so wonderful and so rich. But in the landscape of the entertainment industry, in daytime, we’re in the trenches. We work really hard. We have a ton of pages. We have a ton of really high stakes, dramatic work to try to do in a grounded, authentic way, continuously every day on television. Not that it’s thankless, because thank God we are employed actors on a network TV show, and we are also grateful. But, I’m not going to lie, and say it doesn’t feel good to just get a little ‘thank you’ or like a little, ‘I see your work.’ It feels fulfilling.”
You can check out the full live interview with Amanda Setton at the 2:24:26 mark during the Daytime Emmy Nominations Special Live below, which featured 13 newly-nominated actors sharing their reactions and what they submitted for their reels the landed them a nomination at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
So, are you happy for Amanda that she finally secured her first ever Daytime Emmy nomination? Do you think she is one of the frontrunners for the gold for Outstanding Supporting Actress based on the emotional tale of Brook Lynn’s journey to learning she had a son and it was Gio Palmieri? Let us know your thoughts and impressions after checking out Grady on today’s GH via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Tells Danny: ‘The Place They Were Holding Me Was Bad, Really Bad’

What happened to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) when he was captivity by the WSB? That is the question on many minds of General Hospital viewers, especially following the airing of the Tuesday, July 14 episode of the ABC daytime drama series, which also received a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards yesterday.
In story and in the pick-up of Monday’s episode, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) comes face to face with his father at the Quartermaine boathouse. Jason assures his son that he is home for good. However, Jason is confused why the WSB suddenly released him from Jakarta in the last 48 hours.
Danny goes in on his father for taking the fall for Cullum’s shooting when it was Rocco who shot the now deceased WSB director. Jason tried to explain he had to make a last minute decision and didn’t want Rocco’s life to be ruined by shooting another man.

Courtesy/ABC
JASON WANTS TO TAKE A SHORT TRIP WITH DANNY
Jason promised Danny that from now on, he is his top priority, and that time away has given him a new perspective. When Danny tries to get more intel from his dad on what he went through, all Jason would say is, “The place they were holding me was bad, really bad.”
Danny admits that the person he told that Rocco shot Cullum was Port Charles bureau chief, Jack Brennan, but he told him that WSB would want Danny to drop the whole thing, and just leave it be now that Cullum is dead.
TRACY SEES JASON
Suddenly, Tracy (Jane Elliot) shows up and is happy to see that Jason has resurfaced saying she knew he would be back. As she welcomed him home, Jason has a favor to ask her.
Next, he proposes much to Danny’s happiness, that he and his son are going to away together for a few days to catch up on things. So, that there is no issue, Jason asks if Tracy can please tell Alexis that he has returned to Port Charles and anyone else that would need to know, so they are not concerned for Danny’s welfare and that they know he is with his dad. Tracy agrees, and she and Jason share a hug.
Now the question is, what happened to Jason? We know his face is beaten up. We saw in flashbacks he was held in a cell and we can see he had been experiencing what seems like PTSD from being in captivity.
Previously, GH co-head writer, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten previewed to Soap Opera Digest on Jason’s return, “His imprisonment has had a profound effect on his outlook and how he intends to conduct the rest of his life. His decision will have big implications for Danny, Britt, the Quartermaines, Anna and especially Sonny.”
So, what do you think happened to Jason while being held by the WSB? Did something horrific occur? Will Jason tell Sonny he can no longer work for him so he no longer puts himself or his family in any kind of danger? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
