General Hospital’s Eden McCoy Shares Josslyn’s Back-to-Back Tragedies Were “Horrendous to Film”
It has not been a good last few months for General Hospital’s Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). First, she lost her boyfriend, officer Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) under mysterious circumstances. We know he was stabbed by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and suffered the same fate as Sam while recovering in the hospital – a fatal dose of digitalis in his IV.
Josslyn’s recent demeanor have given pause to her best friend, Trina (Tabyana Ali) and her mother, Carly (Laura Wright), who are worried that the young woman is not coping with Dex’s passing. On top of that, she just learned that her brother Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) is lying in critical condition at GH; after being severely burned in a fire and explosion at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse.
Eden McCoy spoke to Soap Opera Digest about the cathartic moments these stories have provided her as she passed through the one-year anniversary of her real-life mom, Natasha McCoy’s death, and how she was able to pour her grief into these story points.

“It was a very, very dark few weeks. It was horrendous to film; I did not have a blast filming all of this, shared McCoy. ” She added, “I was already a mess personally, and I was getting called in to work to grieve. I was like, ‘I can’t escape it on either side of my life!’ There were definitely a lot of real moments for me over the course of filming these episodes.”’
In terms of learning Dex would be killed-off the GH canvas, Eden recalled, “I wasn’t scared about where it would leave Josslyn. The scary part was much more personal stuff … it was more like (me being) scared to go to work with the grief of everything that I’m living with as Eden, and having no choice but to access and open up those wounds and those parts of me to do the story justice, because that’s my job.”

McCoy reflected, “There were so many weird coincidences and back-to-back moments between my life and Josslyn’s life at the same time that I found extremely anxiety-ridden and overwhelming, but also really beautiful. There’s a good and a bad to everything, you know? But it was a challenge to go to work and do all that and then take it home every day for a while there — and then knowing I have to go and do it again tomorrow.”
So, what are your thoughts about Josslyn facing not only the death of her boyfriend, Dex, but the possibility she could lose her brother, Michael? Eden using her own grief and having to access it, to effectively play the scenes that have been scripted for Joss? Comment below.
Don’t care about Joss grief story, Trina didn’t get a proper grief story!! Unlike Joss Trina was off screen for months, then when she was on screen, she was used to prop other actors! Can’t wait for Beyond the Gates!
I know what it’s like to lose your mom. I’m sure it was a tough storyline for Eden. I’m sure she would have gladly passed the storyline to Trina if she could. Who wants to relive grief. Great job Eden. You’re in my prayers
My heart goes out to Eden, my comment was directed towards GH and the writers!
Totally agree
As for these writer’s they are doing such a injustice to those who put them where they are Kelly, Dex, & now Micheal
Their all over the place GH has gone down for sure
Chad Duell decided to leave and is not being killed off, but Kelly Monaco was fired for being a prima donna.
Was she, though? 😉
Debbie my prayers go out to you as well totally agree losing a parent is so hard as you start thinking about everything your mortality
Emotions are everywhere for sure
These 2 young actresses are both outstanding & will go far in whatever they do & continue to do in their lives both so strong and Amazing
Their parents should be commended for their Rounded & Grounded upbringing
Love their on screen collaboration that both jump off the screen Amazing !!
Good for you lady, but wish you would take Trina with you!
I think she is the best actor of her generation on soaps. I hope she submits the scenes with Willow that aired yesterday. She showed strength without hysterics.
I agree Jossyln is a good actress .Put infor the emmys! The face she gave Willow was so real!
100% so sick of how they have made even Willow an unlikable person now
Totally agree
It seemed so real
Good job Eden! No matter what is written, a soap actress will take it and make it real.
I’m not always a fan of Joss and Carly, but I’ve always said Eden and Laura are fantastic actors. And when I learned of Eden’s mother’s passing, my heart ached for her and I have no idea how she kept working. But she is such a pro. She holds her own in scenes against veteran actors. She does a great job. She’s going to have a wonderful career and I wish her all the happiness in the world.
Eden is a fabulous actress!
I can’t believe this is even a discussion Trina was given the time to play out her grieving time what are you talking about? The difference btw storylines that it appears your not informed of perhaps Joss’ actress actually lost her Mom in real life hence that’s why she was off screen
When she returned and assumed her role
Both of those actress’ are phenomenal actresses & thank goodness they aren’t petty like your comment seems to be going there
As for new soap coming on it’s just like the criers to say we aren’t noticed enough
This is why criers are changing so much in iconic movies & all have been flops
The fact that this conversation is taking place yet again just shows how tone death some are stll
Stick to the soap conversations & not petty grievances on whatever all know your getting at
This is 2025 & the last time I new we have had for decades Amazing Performer’s & None Of Them Have Cried About TV time
It’s a TV program
Truth !!!!

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
