EXCLUSIVE: ‘General Hospital’ Grad William Lipton Previews ‘The Runarounds’ and Shares He “Owes So Much to the Soap Opera Community”
The highly-anticipated long-awaited YA series, The Runarounds is set to drop all 8 of its season one episodes on Monday, September 1st via Amazon Prime.
The Runarounds stars General Hospital alum, William Lipton (Cameron Webber, son of Elizabeth Webber) in the leading role of Charlie Cooper. Not only are The Runarounds the subject of the fictional musical drama series, but they are a bonafide real-life band, who’s album of 17 tracks will also drop this coming Monday, and still later, the band will go out on tour!
The series is the brainchild of executive producer, Jonas Pate and shot entirely on-location in North Carolina, where Pate’s previous hit show Outer Banks was filmed. It was Pate’s idea to audition musicians from all over the country to form a new band, and have them perform on his former show. Fast-forward, now The Runarounds is set to tell the story of a set of teenagers going for their dreams, living out their passion, and finding love with some major hiccups along the way.

Michael Fairman TV spoke to William Lipton along with the rest of the band which features: Jeremy Yun, Jesse Golliher, Zende Murdock and Axel Ellis, plus showrunner Jonas Pate to talk about making the real-life band and the fictional story viewers will see. But before that, Will Lipton took a moment to express his gratitude for his time on GH.
“I owe so much to that community,” Lipton said of his time in Port Charles. “They gave me the faith that I can pursue something in this industry. I’ve learned so much from all the veteran actors there. I’m so grateful. I spent a good chunk of my life there. A good close to, I think, five to six years. So, I really grew up there. I hope they watch The Runarounds and enjoy it. There’s definitely little aspects of Cameron in Charlie.”

In a twist, William’s love interest in The Runarounds turns out to be series creator Jonas Pate’s real-life daughter, Lilah Pate. However, Lipton shares he knew Lilah even before the new show. “Lilah and I went to college together, and so we became really, really close friends throughout our kind of academic journey,” Lipton recalled. “I feel so comfortable with her. She’s a delight to be with on and off screen. I think that that helped with the chemistry and I was looking forward to every scene with her. Her dad obviously created such an amazing safe space to just kind of try stuff. I think that that love story played out really well in season one.”

When we asked Jonas Pate on the casting of William Lipton as the series lead, he sang his praises, “Will is a special, special person and this (opportunity) makes me so happy for him because his heart is so pure.” Pate added, “I mean, this kid is amazing. I’m thrilled and I love that you know him because if you know him, you understand what I’m talking about.”
Agreeing with us on the multi-talented Lipton, Pate added, “Will can sing anything, can play anything, can perform anything. And so we’ve just been super blessed to have him, you know, as the number one on our call sheet. He’s really helped all the other guys who weren’t actors believe that they could do it. He’s really generous with that. He’s humble, and he’s unbelievably hardworking. He’s a first there (on set) last to leave kind of guy.”

Now below, check out our video conversations with The Runarounds band featuring William Lipton, followed by our chat with EP, Jonas Pate, both are now also featured on the Michael Fairman Channel.
Let us know, are you excited to see William’s new series? Do you miss him on GH, but wish him all the success in the world with this starring vehicle which showcases his singing and his acting in ? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
I’m so happy for William, and so glad he’s getting his due, he’s so well deserving, every time I praised him on his platforms he always responded with kindness, prove he’s a true gentleman. definitely more deserving then the actor who played Spencer.
If your yardstick for who “deserves” success is whether or not they respond to your online comments, then I suggest you look up the term “parasocial relationship” and then engage in some self-reflection.
Make me wonder if William Lipton appreciates your praise at the expense of Nicholas Alexander Chavez ??

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
