GENERAL HOSPITAL: Hits Five Month High in Total Viewers! Best Season In Five Years!

Those soap opera hitmakers, Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati, have worked their magic on General Hospital, just as they had over at One Life to Live, if the new ratings out via ABC have anything to say about it!
As we reported a few weeks ago, GH was nearing their best season in five years and they have hit their mark! The ratings week of September 16th-20th put GH over the top! According to ABC, General Hospital also delivered a 5-month high in Total Viewers (2.78 million) for the week of September 16th, and it’s best showing since the week of 4/8/13 – climbing by a solid 8% over the year ago week (vs. 2.58 million).
Then for the 2012/13 season, General Hospital recorded its biggest season in 5 years in Total Viewers (2.98 million), boasting the biggest year-to-year increases of any broadcast daytime drama (+14% – vs. 2.62 million), and was also the growth leader of the season in Women 18-34 (+35% – 253,000 vs. 187,000) and Women 18-49 (+7% – 770,000 vs. 719,000). Notably, General Hospital qualified as TV’s #1 broadcast program in daytime for the season in Women 18-34, and ranked #2 in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54.
So fans what do you think about the resurgence of General Hospital from where it was before Frank and Ron took over? Are you happy with General Hospital as we head into major stories for the fall and November sweeps? And, for those GH fans, give yourselves a pat on the back for hanging in, and watching the show each day. The support you have shown for your favorite soap is a big key to their success and survival!
Well deserved because GH is amazing right now every sl is on fire the show is on fire can’t wait to watch the next episode everyday. Well done RC and Fv
Yes well done Ron and Frank. Well done for killing off OLTL. It’s because of them OLTL isn’t coming back. Of course GH is doing well, it’s the only soap left. What else is there on ABC, Katie?
I believe Abc are the bad guys here, Ron and Frank wanted to go back to OLTL, And they did till PP backed out the first time, Abc knew they screwed up canceling OLTL so they had to do something to keep the fans and Make them tune into GH, I understand you being angry I feel the same way about loosing OLTL it will and is and will always be my favorite soap , But lets blame the morons who who run ABC DAYTIME they messed up the afternoons, ABC will never be the same , KEITH, Please tell me you don’t watch Katie LOL, I don’t and I won’t watch anything on ABC except for GH, Have to support the soaps.
Best news I have heard in a long time! And to think ABC was going to cancel GH. If anything they are doing far better than Katie Couric’s show. Just goes to prove what good writing, acting and directing can do for a great show like GH! Continued success!
This is so funny, because just today as I was watching GH I had the realization it has become my favorite soap. I just starting watching last Nov. so I was surprise how quickly I got addicted to it. I was never a big fan of ABC’s soaps– I was always more an CBS/NBC soap watcher.
But right now, they know how to write a soap– it is not just the stories, but the way they set them up and how they unfold them. Yes, there are dull scenes here and there, and characters I don’t love, but overall, just for entertainment value– and putting the fun back into watching a soap– GH has won my heart. Love all the soaps on some level– but right now, GH is putting the DRAMA back into Daytime.
Why wouldnt we be happy…General HOTpital is on fire…great ratings(soaps CAN find an audience in daytime…Dr.O is back(my favorite character with Ava very close)…Frank and Ron…in spite of a few flaws here and there(need more vets airtime and a few less storyline repeats like Johnny…i think it was him…who pointed out recycled storylines in previous post)…are the Kings of daytime!!!
My wish for Novembers sweeps is to sweep Alan Quartermaine back into Port Chuck!!
And bring back Ned while they’re at it. Want the Q’s back front and center.
Of course they enjoyed their best season in over five years: they got rid of that show-killing witch Jill Farren Phelps.
Interestingly enough “Young and the Restless” is suffering through a tedious spell of the borings and Steve Burton overkill.
“General Hospital’s” producer loss 18 months ago, which turned out to be a positive and a step in the right direction, is “Y&R’s” LOSS big time.
Congrats to Ron and Frank, however, the show is really bloated. Do we really need all of Sonny’s exes (Olivia, Carly, Sam, and Alexis), Shawn, Rafe, Taylor, on the show and don’t even get me started on the big failure otherwise known as Todd Manning aka Franco the serial killer.
I’ve been watching GH since the 60’s, seen it though good and bad. My favorite was always the 80’s with Anna, Duke, Scorpio etc but this writing is measuring up to those days. I am a happy soaper. TG we have R.C & F.V and the fantastic actors and crew and the return of some of the veterans we love. The writing has been above board. I am so glad Guza the soap killer is gone, so our soap can live on.
I don’t know, I am loving DAYs just as much right now! Both shows have been great and have taken turns as my favorite from week to week. I haven’t watched GH at all this week. I watch that with my wife but she has been working later and I promised not to watch without her, but DAYs was really good again this week.
They are soap gods. Thank you so much
Hey ABC – maybe it’s time to create a new soap!!!
That isn’t happening anytime soon, but would be cool
Only on GH can we find Explosive stories and passionate beyond this world pairings
There’s a reason GH is ABC’s favorite show and this is why!
Ron and Frank although hated by some don’t let anything stop them they are the best team ever!
Great job, GH team! RC/FV have proven that lightening does strike twice. Too bad we can’t have ONE LIFE TO LIVE back with this duo of creative geniuses, who know, understand and love the genre, running both shows in a one-two afternoon punch. Love you, Queen Latifah, but we got enough talk on TV. Keep your acting and singing job and let us have our ONE LIFE/GH lineup back. Having said that, the alphabet network still sucks, as well as the peacock network, but we gotta support our stories and keep them going!
If abc really wants better ratings they should show it online same day. That is why everyone watches on youtube instead of abc.com or hulu. I am not going to be a day behind everyone at work, who still tape it!
GH is kicking ass! I’m so glad it is reflected in the ratings
BRING back OLTL and AMC! There is always viewers! I think its not the best choice to have taken them off the air in the first place. Please sign them on again as such as a mini series. it will work!
BRAVO!!!!
This past year has been thrills and suspense and heart aches and happiness!!
I love how GH is akin to real soap drama!!!
Hardly a dull moment and always looking forward to the next day/episode!
GH= FV&RC = how great soaps are written!!
Cast of the best actors and writers!!!
(GH puts Y&R to shame)
I’m thrilled for the show, the cast and crew.
I just wish I didn’t HATE the current show.
But no matter, the show is doing well. Storylines come and go, but hopefully GH will be around for a long time.
GH is the BESSSSST!!! Congratulations to everyone at GH!!! The best cast!!! The best soap and always has been!!! I love that my favorite soap is doing so well and I hope they keep the momentum!!! They are on fire and it should only get better and better!!! Thank you Frank and Ron!!!
they are doing good because;
BETTER WRITING
BETTER DISTRUBUTING OF THE CHARACTERS
AND THEY GOT SAM FATHER BACK
KMC IS COMMING BACK AND HER FATHER
NOW CAN THEY FIXED TWEENS
BY THE WAY LIZZIE HUSBAND IS COMING BACK
I HOPE JAX AND BRENDA MAKE A RETURN FOR CARLY AND SONNY
RON AND FRANK IS DOING A WONDERFUL JOB FOR GH!
Who is Lizzie husband?
johnthan jackson
I have been most happy with the way that Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati have handled GH since they took over. I know some fans were unhappy if everything didn’t go just the way they wanted, but with the exception of Steve Burton (Jason) leaving the show of his own volition , I think GH has improved immensely. I like the addition of William deVyre – think he is a terrific actor and love the way RH (Todd) has taken over as Franco. I must admit I am a big James Franco fan, and it was hard at first to get used to RH in the role, but I realize James is much too busy to come back and play the Robert Frank role he originated. I am very content with the way these writers have brought back some Vets, even if only for a short time….it gives the fans a chance to reunite with these great actors and I hope more will return to Port Charles in the future!!!!!! I appreciate the way you support our soaps, Michael, and thoroughly enjoy reading your reviews! Keep up the good work!!!!!
i’m so happy GH is doing great, hope they stay on track and keep showcasing their talented cast. still need some work on putting certain people more in the spotlight, i.e Rebecca Herbst, when is this girl going to be on more?
Maybe now the people saying that ABC is going to cancell GH will shut up and go away…….Oh,who am I kidding, some people aren’t happy unless they’re complaining.
They are the same people that said FV&RC would fail that they knew nothing about writing a soap and a ton more of negative complaining came from them, all their negativity and bashing was very bitter they were/are very unpleasant people LOL ..
ROCK ON GH!!!!!!!
I started to watch GH AGAIN about 3 weeks ago to catch up because of Robin’s return. Can’t wait to see Robin. Need to know what is going on. Can’t wait for Robin to be back with her husband and child where she belongs
In my entire life I have never seen anything like this. I cannot say how happy it makes me to see such a show. I have been deeply in love with Frank and Ron for years. I knew they would do this to GH. I cannot get enough of it. ABC will never cancel GH for fear of their complete and total demise. I still only watch GH. I do not like ABC in the least.
They are masters at multiple story lines, weaving stories together, and building relationships. LOVED the Sam/Patrick Cheetos scene … a great homage to the Jason/Robin relationship. It is these subtle scenes that keep stories moving forward while pleasing long-time fans. (Carly/Sonny & the medication… she brought up his grandbaby, even though it’s not hers, as a reason to take it. He listened; something only she canter him to do.)
can get, not canter
I can appreciate everything in GH today except the Franco storyline. Really too bad to lose the momentum of the rest of the show with that epic fail. Just think if RH had come back as a distant Cassadine or Quartermaine. Or even if RH could have played Franco similarly enough to be credible as the character instead of in the clownish way of Todd Manning with the DVDs and the brain tumor.
Am incredibly excited for the fall sweep season though, what with the spoilers out.
GH rules…….always has….always will….thx Frank & Ron
GH is far and above the BEST soap on air at the moment! Aside from a few hiccups, it’s no surprise the ratings are up. (Y & R could learn a lot, that show is nearly unwatchable except for Jess Walton’s Jill and the friendship and chemistry between Nikki and Paul).
Love watching GH now everyday .. Before this wonderful change I would fast forward
every day and really missed the old GH. So glad it’s back !!
WHERE IS SEAN KANAN AKA AJ? Hope the rumors that he’s been canned aren’t true!
I knew this would happen to GH, I look forward to watching again everyday instead of falling asleep, Thank you RON AND FRANK, I knew from the start you both would save GH, Any chance you can write for ONE LIFE TO LIVE again, and do both soaps????
I have been pleased for the most part with the show. I know that I will not always love the storylines but there are several that I am enjoying. I think that bringing back the veterans and keeping them on is key to the continued success of the show. I also believe that telling good stories with outstanding actors is imparitive to keeping this up swing in ratings. Thanks for saving my favorite show.
I have watched GH for 30+ years. In my opinion, it has never been better and from what I hear the next few months are going to blow everyone and everything away. Frank & Ron are a godsend and I am eternally grateful that they have not only saved GH but taken it to new heights. They create such drama, intrigue, emotion and infuse it with humor – that every story is compelling, regardless of who your personal favorite characters are or storyline. General Hospital is truly one of the best hours of TV viewing you can have – prime-time or daytime. Keep up the fantastic work – I am watching every day!
I, and millions others agree!!!
It is breathtaking and outrageously awesome!!
GH is the #1 soap ..
BRAVO!!! …to ALL with GH ..
This is all because of Maura West and her character Ava Jerome!
shes just one character
get her a man—–not SAM MAN
SHE JUST ONE NOTE!
Ya, can’t say I’m crazy about gh lately! I just think these story lines are terrible especially the story of Maxie, lulu, Dante and Spinelli! I think it’s time that they found out. The Kiki, Micheal and Morgan story is ridiculous! Who falls in love with there sister in law? And if Helena is alive for the billionth time…..Just going to shake my head to that. Hopefully gh gets better soon, as of right now can’t say I’m liking it and can’t understand how ratings are up, people must like screwed up stories. Cheers!
Wrong; Michael and Kiki fell in ”before” she became his sister in law..
Helena is not alive it is a hallucination..
Maxie, lulu, Dante and Spinelli! has been an involved story with many branches affecting many, and now coming to it’s outing, all will know and then…????
GH is very suspenseful and intriguing, to be waiting for the next episode tells all it is awesome!!
I realize they fell in love before they became brother and sister in law……. that’s not the point! Point is its pretty gross that 2 brothers will sleep with the same girl. And thank God that Helena isn’t back! Glad that the Maxie and spinelli thing came out finally. GH suspenseful and intriguing not sure about that. I just love GH have been watching for over 16 years. If there are parts that I’m not interested in I just fast forward thru the show.
Thanks for responding!
@Judy…You do realize that brothers sharing their women is a time honored Port Charles tradition, right? (Not that I approve, it IS gross!) But such practices go way back to Monica (with Jeff and Rick Webber) then Liz (Lucky and Nik) plus both Sam and her mom, Alexis ( with Sonny and Rick Lansing) not to mention Carly with Jason, AJ and most likely Franco soon, as well. (A trifecta!) Alexis was also married to Jax and later had a dalliance with Jerry, so there really is quite the precedence for such “brotherly” behavior. I certainly don’t enjoy seeing that sort of thing, but just saying…..
Very well said!
GH is hands down the best show in daytime. The new regime is doing an amazing job and I find myself watching everyday now, waiting to see what will happen next. I used to be a longtime viewer but increasingly I found myself disgusted by JFP and Guza and stopped watching altogether.
Its refreshing to be able to watch GH again and I am so glad to have the new team FV and RC on board.
I’m hoping more and more viewers will also come back and start watching the show on a regular basis.
JFP’s team did a lot of damage to the show so its great to see signs of life begin to sprout where the soap is concerned!
Although I don’t always appreciate the end results, I absolutely applaud the considerable efforts of “Cartini.” They have reached back into the great legacy of GH and updated it for the 21st century….no small feat in these days of crunched budgets and immediate gratification fixes. That being said, it is almost as if the program is two different shows combined under one title….you have the stupendous days with the top-shelf, mostly traditional talents, then there are the throwaway episodes with the most silly and superfluous storylines and (mostly) disposable novices who will NEVER become part of Port Charles legend. My only request is for the ptb’s to quit adding the forgettable and annoying additions, and save their time and space for the most recent glittering gems of colossal charisma: Britt and Dr. O.!!!! They are the newbies done good, while the most monumental failures like Sapprina, Taylor, Rafe and CarLOS! need to go…even Molly, TJ, Shawn and Penny are pretty dispensible at this point, particularly since we are probably stuck with the underwhelming Kiki, Morgan and Michael for the foreseeable future. Just choosing fresher, better young talent would definitely give GH 2.0 the necessary upgrade from simply flourishing to utterly fantastic!!!!
its funny how everyone talks about fv. & rc. the only things I love about the show are the classic gh_ helena luke jerry jacks and all the classic storylines that always were. However, any of fv and rc changes are what I don’t like sabrina storyline, ava, and all there peeps. Also would like to mention that it now the lone soap on abc of course the ratings have an easier chance of doing better.
Agreed, but I think what we are actually saluting is the fact that “Cartini” was willing to honor the history of GH and by bringing back so many of the legacy characters from the glory days of the ’80’s and early ’90’s…that has been done very well (with the exception of the “Frisco Fiasco”….still fuming about that one!) by incorporating them into present day storylines. Of course, they have not been flawless in their execution, we all have our issues to address, but all in all, it has been a really fun and nostalgic year for longtime fans of PC. I didn’t even mind their “Llanview Three” experiment, although Kiki is still a real work in progress! My only true complaint is in reference to the horrible newbies that have been introduced….led by (surprise…SABRINA, Taylor and now, Car-LOS! ick, Ick, ICK!!!!!)
The newer fans do not know many of the old vets that many enjoy, so they don’t actually care of them..
So, RC mixing the old with the new is genius, some for everybody ..
(not all fans have watched for 40/30/20 years .. and the ones some call new characters are the regular old to them..
i dvr all four soaps and a spanish novela but GH is must see tv!!!!!!
GH is great these days thanks to Frank and Ron. I do miss OLTL, but w/o F&R GH would be cancelled as well. I am very happy of very little mobsters stories and no more SB. I have learned to just watch the show w/o reading spoilers and enjoy. I really like the Spixie baby story. I do hope Spixie gets their baby back.
Wow. I’m shocked. It must be because there aren’t very many daytime soaps left on the air. I tried to watch GH a couple of times and it was HORRIBLE!

‘General Hospital’s’ Amanda Setton Talks Her Reaction, Scenes, and Co-Stars After Becoming a Daytime Emmy Nominee for the First Time (Exclusive)

When the nominations were announced for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards earlier this week, General Hospital fans were thrilled to see Amanda Setton’s name as one of this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actress nominees.
It marks the first time in her career that she has ever been nominated. Setton has played Brook Lynn Quartermaine since 2019. Soap viewers first saw her in the role of Kimberly Andrews on One Life to Live during her run from 2009-2011.
Amanda received her Daytime Emmy nomination for her emotional turn as Brook Lynn learned she had been lied to by her mother, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) for years, after giving up her baby for adoption as a teen. Little did she know she had a secret son living with her this whole time at the Quartermaine mansion in Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza).

During an exclusive conversation live on Tuesday night, July 14, during the Michael Fairman Channel’s annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special, she discussed her reaction to the news, her nominated reel and her GH co-stars.
GOING FOR EMMY GOLD
Setton explained how she found out she was a Emmy nominee! “Frank Valentini called me, our boss. It was such a beautiful moving moment. I’ve known Frank for 20 years and to share this with him, I’m indebted to him on a lot of levels. I was in the car with my husband. We were going for a hike. We got away for just a couple days, just the two of us. It was early in the morning and to share that moment with Frank, to share that moment with my husband, it was the best. We cried and I’m just so grateful.”
The Supporting Actress nominee shared what scenes she submitted: “My reel was obviously about the Gio storyline. It started with the scenes with Lulu (Alexa Havins) and shout out to Alexa! She’s the best. It’s when I first find out that she knows and that I had boy. Then, begging her not to tell Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and just to leave it alone, then into the scenes with Rena Sofer, shout out to her! She is the best. I love her. I spoke to her today. She deserved to also be nominated. They are the scenes right after I find out at the Nurses’ Ball, and right after Brooklyn finds out that Gio is her son, not her cousin. Then my reel ended with the scene with Gio in the kitchen when Brook Lynn’s first sees him after the Nurses’ Ball and she says, ‘We can work this out,’ and he’s like, ‘No, we can’t,” and he walks away. It was an amazing story and kudos to the writers.”

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCENES
It is always important in the Emmy game to put together a submission, so that someone who doesn’t watch the show day to day, can grasp the story of what’s happening to your character. Setton explained how she went about assembling the choices for her scenes. “Between Michelle Henry (producer, GH) and Frank, they said, ‘You need to tell the story. Find the scenes that tell the story.” Once I did it was clear to all of us, the story has been told,” shared Amanda.
“Anyone who’s watching this reel can get a feel for the intensity of the story. I think after even the first scene where you’re just like, ‘Wait a minute! This girl had a baby? She didn’t know if it was a boy or girl?’ Now this nemesis of her wants to … ‘What’s happening? What’s going on? And then the mom knew the story? ‘ So by the end, your heart’s just broken for this girl.”
Initially, Amanda like the viewers were trying to figure out how GH would make sense of the story, where suddenly years later we find out Brook Lynn got pregnant at summer camp by Dante! Setton said, “Once they (the writers) started building it out and you saw all the different relationships playing out between her and her mother, her and Dante, her and Lulu, her and Gio, her and her husband Chase (Josh Swickard), even Tracy (Jane Elliot), and then the fallout of all of it, it just touched so many characters on the canvas. I think it was like a huge juicy burger for the fans to just take a big bite.”

AMANDA SETTON TALKS ON HER TV SON GIOVANNI MAZZA
In addition to Amanda, both Giovanni Mazza and Braedyn Bruner (Emma) landed their first ever nominations in the Emerging Talent category. Setton shared how she and Mazza have developed such a close bond.
“Gio and I are super close. Right from the start, we just hit it off. He is such a delight. He’s so hardworking. He’s such an eager learner. He’s always looking to be better. He always wants to grow. That’s a huge testament to his work ethic,” explains Amanda. “He’s an amazing person, and over the last couple of years, we’ve had many deep conversations about work, about life, perspective, gratitude, values, a lot of different deep things. I could not be more thrilled for Gio and this moment for him. It is well deserved. He has worked so hard for it. I really hope he wins. Although, I also love Braedyn!”
One of the most unforgettable moments of 2025 in the soaps is when Gio takes to the Nurses’ Ball stage after overhearing Lulu and Lois talk that he is the biological son of Brook Lynn and Dante. Ready to begin to play his violin, he smashes it pieces and storms off. Setton was in the scene and recalls, “That was wild. He did such a great job with that. That is not an easy moment to hit, pun intended. He nailed it.”

THE CONNECTION WITH JANE ELLIOT
On General Hospital, Brook Lynn is close with her ‘Granny,” the one and only Tracy Quartermaine, and in real life Amanda is very close with Jane Elliot, with whom she was able to share the news of her nomination. “First of all, this woman has become one of my closest friends.”
Amanda adds, I’m not exaggerating. I am confident to say she would say the same. We’ve become really close friends outside of work. We speak, almost every day. We just went out to lunch last week. She’s become such a close person in my life over these last few years. She’s such a leader. Jane’s a really special person in my life after my family. I wanted to share the news of this nomination with her and she was over the moon.”
HARD WORK PAID OFF
Getting a pat on the back from her peers is one of the more touching moments in Amanda’s career, as she explains: “I have to say we’re in the daytime world, so for us it feels so wonderful and so rich. But in the landscape of the entertainment industry, in daytime, we’re in the trenches. We work really hard. We have a ton of pages. We have a ton of really high stakes, dramatic work to try to do in a grounded, authentic way, continuously every day on television. Not that it’s thankless, because thank God we are employed actors on a network TV show, and we are also grateful. But, I’m not going to lie, and say it doesn’t feel good to just get a little ‘thank you’ or like a little, ‘I see your work.’ It feels fulfilling.”
You can check out the full live interview with Amanda Setton at the 2:24:26 mark during the Daytime Emmy Nominations Special Live below, which featured 13 newly-nominated actors sharing their reactions and what they submitted for their reels the landed them a nomination at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
So, are you happy for Amanda that she finally secured her first ever Daytime Emmy nomination? Do you think she is one of the frontrunners for the gold for Outstanding Supporting Actress based on the emotional tale of Brook Lynn’s journey to learning she had a son and it was Gio Palmieri? Grady Eldridge Makes His ‘General Hospital’ Debut as Music Executive Simon

There’s another new face in Port Charles, when on today’s Wednesday, July 15 on General Hospital, Grady Eldridge made his debut as Simon, a new music executive, who is scouting talent for his record label.
According to Soap Opera Digest, Eldridge is on recurring status with the ABC soap opera, and in story, Simon is the A&R rep responsible for signing music acts and he enters the scene as Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) sets up a musical showcase for Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) who accompanies her on guitar. As the showcase kicks off, Simon arrives.
While his GH role marks his first on daytime, Grady can currently be seen in the final season of HBO’s comedy hit, Hacks. He has numerous credits in primetime including: Doctor Odyssey, The Sex Lives of College Girls and appeared as Max in the recently released in Jennifer Lopez’s movie office romance.
Eldridge joins several other newcomers have joined the ABC soap including: Dean Geyer as Dr. Tristan Roberts (who first showed up on Monday’s July 13 episode), and Troy Lennon Appel as mysterious businessman, Hudson who shows up later this month.
In addition, GH fans will get the chance to see Kayden Brenna Tokarski who takes over the role of Scout Cain, and Kelly Kruger (ex-Mackenzie Browning, The Young and the Restless) who is the recast Serena Baldwin, who debuts on July 30.
So, do you hope Simon sticks around Port Charles? Do you think Trina and Gio will become a major recording act, or will trouble be brewing with this new music executive, and Brook Lynn will spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e? Let us know your thoughts and impressions after checking out Grady on today’s GH via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Tells Danny: ‘The Place They Were Holding Me Was Bad, Really Bad’

What happened to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) when he was captivity by the WSB? That is the question on many minds of General Hospital viewers, especially following the airing of the Tuesday, July 14 episode of the ABC daytime drama series, which also received a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards yesterday.
In story and in the pick-up of Monday’s episode, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) comes face to face with his father at the Quartermaine boathouse. Jason assures his son that he is home for good. However, Jason is confused why the WSB suddenly released him from Jakarta in the last 48 hours.
Danny goes in on his father for taking the fall for Cullum’s shooting when it was Rocco who shot the now deceased WSB director. Jason tried to explain he had to make a last minute decision and didn’t want Rocco’s life to be ruined by shooting another man.

Courtesy/ABC
JASON WANTS TO TAKE A SHORT TRIP WITH DANNY
Jason promised Danny that from now on, he is his top priority, and that time away has given him a new perspective. When Danny tries to get more intel from his dad on what he went through, all Jason would say is, “The place they were holding me was bad, really bad.”
Danny admits that the person he told that Rocco shot Cullum was Port Charles bureau chief, Jack Brennan, but he told him that WSB would want Danny to drop the whole thing, and just leave it be now that Cullum is dead.
TRACY SEES JASON
Suddenly, Tracy (Jane Elliot) shows up and is happy to see that Jason has resurfaced saying she knew he would be back. As she welcomed him home, Jason has a favor to ask her.
Next, he proposes much to Danny’s happiness, that he and his son are going to away together for a few days to catch up on things. So, that there is no issue, Jason asks if Tracy can please tell Alexis that he has returned to Port Charles and anyone else that would need to know, so they are not concerned for Danny’s welfare and that they know he is with his dad. Tracy agrees, and she and Jason share a hug.
Now the question is, what happened to Jason? We know his face is beaten up. We saw in flashbacks he was held in a cell and we can see he had been experiencing what seems like PTSD from being in captivity.
Previously, GH co-head writer, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten previewed to Soap Opera Digest on Jason’s return, “His imprisonment has had a profound effect on his outlook and how he intends to conduct the rest of his life. His decision will have big implications for Danny, Britt, the Quartermaines, Anna and especially Sonny.”
So, what do you think happened to Jason while being held by the WSB? Did something horrific occur? Will Jason tell Sonny he can no longer work for him so he no longer puts himself or his family in any kind of danger? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
