General Hospital Icon Anthony Geary Breaks Silence and Mourns the Loss of His On-Screen Sister, Jackie Zeman

The eight-time Daytime Emmy-winning soap legend, Anthony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer), has shared his grief on the death of his on-screen sister, Jackie Zeman (Bobbie), who passed away yesterday at the age of 70.

Geary, who is now retired and living in Amsterdam, shared a heartfelt statement with TV Line.

Tony expressed: “For 40 years, I was fortunate enough to play Jackie Zeman’s big brother on General Hospital. In all those years, I never heard her utter one disparaging word about any actor, crew member, or co-worker. In fact, I never heard Jackie express an unkind word about anyone, ever. In a highly competitive profession where ego, feelings, and emotions are bread and butter, I’ve found this quality to be extremely rare. I expect it will be even more rare now that dear Jackie is gone. She was quite simply one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever known. I will miss her laugh, and the deep, soulful look in her eyes whenever she expressed the love and pride she had in her two lovely daughters. Tonight, l already miss her, and feel a powerful ache where Jackie’s smile used to be.”

On and off for over 40 years, and until Geary left GH in 2015, (he made one guest return in 2017 to usher off the show Jane Elliot as Tracy), Luke and Bobbie Spencer from Elm Street (the wrong side of the tracks), always stuck together through thick and thin.  Fans loved the emotional and heartfelt scenes between big brother Luke and his younger sister, Barbara Jean.

Throughout the last 24 hours, Michael Fairman TV has been sharing many reactions to Zeman’s passing on social media from her GH co-stars past and present, which you can find here.

What do you think of the sentiments Tony Geary shared on the loss of Jackie Zeman? Do you have a favorite Luke and Bobbie scene of all-time? Let us know in the comment section below.

My favorite memories of Bobbie are the scenes with her, Luke and Ruby. I loved Bobbie and Luke’s relationship. I loved how he called her Barbara Jean. I still cannot believe she’s gone. Such sad news to wake up to this morning. It’s so bitter sweet how everyone loved her. May she rest in peace and may her family and friends feel comforted as best as they can.

You’re so right. Luke, Bobbie and Aunt Ruby. What a trio. I’ll never forget them.

Dear Mr . Geary yours. Word was so graciously said I adore your character of Luke spencer, you’re on screen, sister, Bobbie you guys had a special bond you always protect her as a big brother should rest in peace, Jackie Stella

Yes you are so right. I’m just to sad to comment. She will be sadly missed. This is a nightmare someone please wake me up

Please come back for one last farewell. That would be so special to honor Jackie ❤️

That ship has sailed (or sunk in the case of The Haunted Star). With Bobbie sadly gone, Lucky and Ethan on different continents, and Lulu in never never land, his connections on the canvas have shrunk.

If they do a tribute episode where the actors (and not their characters) talk about Jackie, Tony should definitely play a key role.

This is exactly what i was thinking. Just to have Tony make an appearance because of the memories and hard work these actors did together.

Yes please

Jackie was so good for so long! I’m glad she was part of this year’s Nurses Ball and the show is respecting the legends and giving them stories! You will be missed Barbra Jean! The #1 question is, will Luke attend Bobbi’s funeral?

Sadly I don’t think that Tony Geary will return to GH for Bobbi’s funeral.

I agree. Maybe they show “Him” from behind leaving and someone calls out his name and disappears? Or someone in the cast mentions Luke was there already and said his goodbyes before anyone arrived.

That would make for a great episode.

After her family, Tony was the first person I though of when I heard of her death. So sad all around. Jackie was fabulous as Bobbie, loved her.

If you have not seen it in a while or ever you can find it now Tony & Jackie dancing to The Last Dance probably the nineties I guess the Nurses Ball it will bring tears to your eyes.

Did not know about her health issue. Jackie Zeman was a daytime legend. How sad for GH to say goodbye to 3 longtime players on the soap. Looking forward to her tribute episode and I know that it will be well written with iconic scenes from her past. Kin Shriner did a nice tribute to her from her favorite restaurant. We will miss her too.

I was wondering if we would hear from Tony, I’m glad we did. Classy statement from him about Jackie, I would have expected nothing less. Luke and his Barbara Jean had such a special relationship, the way he was always so protective of her. It was one of my favorite things to watch on the show over the years.

Now if only they would right the ridiculous wrong of having Luke die off screen, which nobody believes for a second, and he were able to return for Bobbie’s funeral. That would be amazing. Even if it were only a one off appearance, like when Tony returned for a cameo when Jane Elliot left the show in 2017. Come on Frank, make it happen!

She was a beautiful woman and a kind soul. I already miss her

I hope they have a memorial for her on GH and Luke would show up. We miss you too

Anthony and Jackie were a dynamic duo. You really and truly felt like they were brother and sister. They bounced off each other beautifully. Jackie leaves a legacy we will always watch again and again. Thank you for the happiness you give us. ❤️

I think you all should bring Luke back. Just for a moment. He should not be died. He needs to be a part of his TV sister memories. PLEASE bring him back for this!

I started watching GH the summer before I entered 7th grade. Steve Hardy, Jessie Brewer, Audrey, and her sister; all the controversy and all the challenges. We are your fans but you all believe it or not become our family and now another wonderful family member is gone. Thank you Bobby, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Me too, 7th grade. I’ve missed Steve Hardy, all of them. I was 11 years old. I remember parts of the first show I watched. And now our beloved Jackie is gone. So,so sad.

Beautiful sentiment! Best brother/sister duo!

Karen
Wallick and Bobby Spencer were both very good friends years ago as prostitutes with Marco Dean how long have some of you been not watching?

That was one life to live. Not gh. They tried having Marco on gh and used that as the connection but it didn’t work he didn’t last long.

It hurts my heart so bad I’ve been watching general hospital since January 1976. I feel like these actors and actress are family watching them everyday. Recording the show so I don’t miss an episode. I cried and cried everytime we loose these actors. I know we all have to cross thst bridge but it’s so unreal we don’t want thst perdon to leave this earth. May her soul rest in pesce I love you jackie

I ONLY WISH THAT TONY WOULD MAKE AN APPEARANCE, IF ONLY FOR A WEEK. HE WAS AN EXCELLENT ACTOR AND A FINE PERSON.

Or just 2 days

As a fan & viewer of GH, I’ve watched GH & Jacklyn Zeman’ career as Bobbi for 40+ years. I’ll truly miss her. GH lost a fine actress who was a good human being & dedicated to their craft. RIP JZ

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’

We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.

Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.

Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story.  The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.

The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed.  Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

Photo: ABC

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”

No word yet on when The Workout will be released.

So, looking forward to seeing this collaborative effort featuring GH’s Josh Kelly? Comment below.
