GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Wakes Up! What Does Victor Have In Store For Him?

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

On Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, viewers learned just how duplicitous Victor Cassadine (Thaao Penghlis) really is! But after all, it shouldn’t come as a surprise since he is a Cassadine! But Robin (Kimberly McCullough) certainly learned the hard way!

After Victor administered the drug to wake Jason from his cryogenic state, Robin was beside herself because she did not want it tried first on Jason, but rather Stavros or Helena!

Victor had other plans, and just as Jason’s life was all but snuffed out for good, all of a sudden Jason’s arm and hand came reaching out to grab a hold of Victor.

The drug protocol worked! Jason is coming back to life and he has brain activity.  When Robin wants to continue making sure all proceeds well for her dear friend and his return to the living, Victor tells her he has no more use for her and she is done.  He then lowers the boom saying he will take it from here with Jason as he plans for him!  Robin is horrified and taken out by Victor’s goons!

So, what do you think Victor has in store for Jason?  Why did he want him as part of his ultimate plan?  What should happen to Robin?  And what about the action back in Port Charles?  It seemed after talking about Jason, Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) were getting very comfy together… looks like the attraction between the two of them is on!  Watch the moment Jason comes to life (sort of) after the jump! Then, comment below!

LoL, if Frank Valentini wanted Robin dead he surely wouldn’t have asked her to stay when he was hired as EP. Before he came on Wolf/Altman Robin had that wound that would not heal because Lisa Niles had switched her medication with placebos. Robin was goingvto develope full blown AIDES and die with her family surrounding her. When FV came on the would magically went away near to be talked about again. The lab fire was a sure fire way of bringing Robin back one day. I’m glad that Frank changed Kimberly’s about a permanent exit.

I’m not sure what Victor has plan for Jason but what ever it is, I’m sure Sam will help Jason through it. Viva La Jasam!

I think once again poor Jason will not be Jason the first…as in Jason Q. And now…I don’ think he’ll be Jason Morgan. I THINK…that Victor will program him to his “evil doer”…thus freeing Sam up to be with Patrick (or Silas) as the Jason she remembers will no longer exist…And the question is, are they going to address his different face, or are they going to proceed with just a “new actor stepping into the role” and that not even be an issue. The only problem I see in that is that they keep showing Steve Burton’s face in… Read more »

I also said Jason should return as Quartimaine many moons ago…yesterday i said to another poster that Victor will alter Jasons face to explain new look(maybe he was injured and needed it)…he also will have amnesia…Victor will use him somehow in his attempts to revive Helene and Stravos…when Kim returns in fall Robin and NuJason will come face to face and he will sort of remember her and she will know who he is…Robin and NuJason will escape Victor and show up in PC…NuJason runs into Sam at the Park and his memory returns but because he looks different she… Read more »

mgb357…yes! I was thinking the same thing…the Todd face transplant! LOL. I bet they do that…this way Jason will technically be back…but no one will know it. He’ll be programmed and work for Victor and Helena…this way it leaves the door open to explore a relationship between Sam and Jason…or a reunited Sam and Silas. I do think at some point down the line, as jimh says above, the truth will be discovered. In the old days, when we didn’t even THINK of the possibility that our soaps may one day disappear…these types of story lines could go on for… Read more »

I can’t understand why they are showing Steve Burton’s face. It makes no sense if Jason is going to live. None, zero, zip. I figured when I saw Steve’s face that Jason would die. I don’ t see any logical reason for the face change (other than the truth) so I figured if he was going to live, they would say, “The role fo Jason is now being played by x” or ignore it since he’s been off for a while. Unless they have a surprise of Steve Burton being on for a couple of days and then Jason dies.… Read more »

I think, Lin, probably just to emphasize or allude to Jason as we and Sam remember him…because at this point when they bring up his name…and Sam looks back…he is in the role of Steve Burton. This way they keep him alive and kicking through dialog…but we know before our fictional friends that he’ll return, but not as the Jason we know…

That’s my theory anyway…

I think this is just Ron C getting his jollies messing with SB and his fans by taunting them with these photos. (Much in the same way he pushed the Blackie Parrish/Greek Yogurt thing, and mentioned Frisco and Noah in unflattering terms over and over again.) Yeah, it’s immature and petty, but it’s being done simply because he can get away with it….apparently no one cares enough to stop him.

@Lin…..This is the only soap site where I post, since I consider it to be the best in the business. However, contrary to my various comments regarding Ron C’s sometimes childish behavior, I’m not looking to stir up controversy all over the web with my GH theories/opinions, but thank you just the same for your suggestion. The notion that the repeated use of SB’s photo was meant as an affront to his loyal fans (and perhaps the man himself) was simply something that occurred to me given Ron’s history of mockery.

The WSB/Victor want to use jason the be a hit man, and take out bin laden, oh wait he’s dead. ok ok, take out sadam Hussain, oh crap, he’s dead too, ok then, ummmmmm, f*ck, i don’t know, Jason will be the winter soldier and try to kill port charles own captain america Sonny Corinthos, although truthfully theres nothing Captain America about Sonny Corinthos, regardless, i’m not a jasam fan, more of a Laison fan so RC don’t do us wrong and forget Liz in the equation of this Storyline.

Lol, Aria. I thought Sonny was Captain Caribbean. I am not an anythingsam fan, period. I want to slap her silly with that expressionless face and even more monotonous voice. But, more to the point. I believe that Victor’s purpose was and is twofold. He does want to unfreeze and breathe life, per se, into his relatives, but he could not take the risk of “killing” them for good. So, enter Jason as the guinea pig. Now that this phase has been accomplished, Victor plans to brainwash Jason and use his braun for his own evil schemes…no? How about….? Oh,… Read more »

Victor is planning on using Jason as a Cassidine to do his revenge on anyone who ever got in their way. Killing off Robin would be in Victor’s mind only when and if Helena and Stavros are woken up and are able to go on with their lives.

Where is the love, GH fans? Of course the story is ridiculous – it’s a SOAP! GH has had sci-fi stories for decades. The winter machine of the 80’s? Come on. People are brought back from the dead all of the time on soaps… It’s what we love – characters never really dying. I’m glad Jason is back- his character is like Carly. He’s tied to too many people with so much story potential. Romance potential right away with Elizabeth, Sam, & Carly. Also, how can Carly explain Franco? What about Sean? Will he trust Jason – can they work… Read more »

I think Victor will make Jason his personal hit man after changing his face so that no one recognizes him and another actor can play the part. I was disappointed that when Jason rose up out of his egg, Victor didn’t cackle “He’s alive! He’s alive!” ; -)

Oh lord, if we have to see only Jason’s hands and arms for months, I’m gonna lose it! Hands Newman is quickly becoming my least favourite character on Y&R, and they aren’t even a character! I guess it just goes to show how difficult replacing an actor like Michael Muhney really is.

Okay, this is my theory. I feel like somehow Victor and Fluke are in cahoots, and that Victor is planning to use Jason as a hit man to take out Sonny. If that’s not it, then maybe Victor is planning to use Jason as a Cassadine soldier, and Victor would brainwash him to become his lackie. Regardless, Jason will probably have amnesia or some kind of brain injury, and he won’t be Jason Q or Jason Morgan, leaving Victor to create him into whatever he wants. As far as the pictures of Steve Burton go, I feel like they’re showing… Read more »

i would buy that, i was scratching my head trying to figure out why they are going to all the trouble of doing the plastic surgery storyline? first lets say that billy miller does take on the role, i can picture him being a hit with fans, do i picture him staying in daytime forever ? no, so i firgure he woud put in a few good years on GH then woud want to move on, by this time, steve would want to return to gh because his bff would of been fired over at YR and steve would be… Read more »

okay, so if billy miller is taken on the role, and everyone is speculating he will have plastic surgery(jason not billy, loll) did he have it while he was frozen or will he get it when he wakes up? because if he’s till “old jason” then i doubt we will get any reveal that billy miller has taken on the role for a while. this could take more months before they reveal the “new face” i already feel this has been dragged on for to long. will we have to see jason in bandages for weeks? all i want is… Read more »

GH’s Maurice Benard Gets Emotional During Surprise Family Reunion

Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, General Hospital) was a guest today on the ABC syndicated-talker, Tamron Hall.  The three-time Daytime Emmy-winning star was on the show to promote GH’s 60th anniversary, which is on April 1st, while the series celebrates next week with the return of the Nurses’ Ball.

During his segment, Tamron surprised Maurice with an emotional reunion with his daughter Heather who has been in the U.S. Air Force on the east coast.  Benard had not seen her since October of last year.

Tamron’s set-up of the Benard surprise happened when she discussed his family and in particular, his daughter, Heather Andresen, who is his wife Paula Benard’s half-sister.  Hall said when her picture came on the screen, “This is her. You haven’t seen her in awhile.” But, Benard cut her off knowing exactly what was coming next and said, “Oh, don’t do that.”

Maurice legally adopted Heather when she was 15. So when Hall said, “You’re not the only one who made a special trip today. She wanted to be here … because I know it was rough getting on that plane and coming here,” Maurice was struggling to hold it together.

Tamron was referencing Maurice’s fear of flying, and in particular flying solo, which is what he had to do for this publicity tour in New York.  Next, Tamron brought out, “Airman First Class Heather Andresen.”

Benard and Heather embraced, as Maurice continued to get emotional and told Heather how proud of her he was.

You can watch the very touching moment below.

Then let us know, what did you think of Tamron’s surprise for Maurice? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Friends, Loved Ones and Colleagues Gather to Mourn the Loss of Epiphany

There is a connection between the audience, the actors, and the characters they play in the soap opera genre that is so unique, that no other form of entertainment has it.  What we have seen play out leading to the highly-anticipated tribute episode for the late Sonya Eddy (Epiphany, GH) is the perfect example.

Here on this site, when we posted items and previews on this upcoming episode, fans were ready to also mourn the loss of the character and the actress they loved. Many of the GH cast already shared that being on the set the day of the taping of this tribute to Sonya was cathartic, real and raw as they were also honoring and mourning their beloved co-star.

Photo: ABC

If you watched yesterday’s episode of GH, you could see the utmost care that was taken by the GH writing team, who wrote a beautiful script and send-off.  We are sure, many of you reached for the hankies throughout, and well you should, it was extraordinarily touching.

When we start, Port Charles residents are already dressed and heading to Epiphany’s memorial service, headed up by Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) at the GH chapel. Elizabeth is uptight, yet on the verge of breaking down over the loss of her dearest friend and champion. Liz tells Finn (Michael Easton) that she believes Epiphany was disappointed with her in the end for the whole Esme and Nikolas mess that she was a part of.  She so wishes she could have made it right with her before she died. It is Liz’s hope that this memorial is the perfect way to make it up to her mentor and friend.

One of the key questions that everyone wanted answers to was finding out just how did the writers decide to kill-off Epiphany. We learned much of the back-story from special guest, Yvette Nicole Brown, who was excellent as the woman Epiphany saved before her untimely death. Making this even more emotional was the fact that in real-life, Yvette was one of Sonya Eddy’s closest friends.

The woman reveals to Liz and Finn that her car crashed into an electrical pole. Epiphany happened to be driving by and ran out to save her life.  She did so successfully, but when the woman asked for an update on Epiphany, she learned that she collapsed at the scene from smoke inhalation, but as Elizabeth put together, Epiphany had a heart attack, because she had a pre-existing heart condition.

Photo: ABV

Elsewhere, Anna (Finola Hughes) is mourning Epiphany and cannot attend the memorial because she is currently tucked away at the safe house. However, she gets a surprise visitor! Emma Drake (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) has come back to Port Charles to attend the memorial and gives her grandmother the biggest of hugs.  Emma is attending in place of her parents, Patrick and Robin, who couldn’t get away from their doctor duties to fly back to town in time.

Next, we learn Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) is the executor of Epiphany’s will.  She seeks out the former head nurse’s mortal enemy, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), with some written instructions to be handled following the memorial service.

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, several returns helped round out Epiphany’s history including: Marc Anthony Samuel as Nurse Felix, and Drew Cheetwood as her ex-boyfriend, Milo. In fact, Drew was very heart-tugging in scenes with Maurice Benard (Sonny).

Photo: ABC

Marshall (Robert Gossett) is blaming himself for Epiphany’s death telling Portia (Brooke Kerr) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) that if he hadn’t pushed her to go after her dreams as a doctor, maybe her life would have been saved.  Portia tells him that’s nonsense, he actually helped Epiphany achieve her goal.

Photo: ABC

When it’s time for the memorial, it starts with Elizabeth, and one by one people get up and speak on Epiphany including: Deanna (Dionni Michelle Collins), Portia, Sonny, Carly (Laura Wright) and others. Throughout, we get flashbacks of how the she impacted their lives.  At the end of the service, Diane gets up and tells everyone Epiphany has asked that everyone go to the roof following the memorial.  Once on the GH rooftop, Diane reads a letter from Epiphany that she wants no more tears and to be celebrated.  Cue the fireworks, that were set off and lit by none other than Liesl! Epiphany’s voice is heard singing her signature Nurses Ball song, “You’re Not Alone” as everyone takes a moment to reflect and honor her, including Anna alone at the safe house watching the fireworks in the sky.

Photo: ABC

At the end of the episode, Elizabeth, who has returned to the GH chapel, receives a phone call from Monica (and we hear Leslie Charleson’s voice).  Monica tells her she received a glowing letter of recommendation from Epiphany a few days ago and reads it aloud to her. Liz learns that Pif has suggested to the GH hospital board that despite the mistakes she had made, that Liz become the head nurse at the hospital.  Monica tells her she plans on taking this to the board. Elizabeth is overcome in a beautifully-played moment by Becky Herbst.

Photo: ABC

The conclusion came too soon for us as we knew we had to say goodbye to our friend, Sonya, who was so memorable as the beloved Epiphany. A series of flashbacks, reminding us why we fell in love with the tough-as-nails GH nurse in the first place, began to play. Later, we see that Epiphany has joined the GH wall of remembrance for those revered doctors and nurses we have lost.

This was definitely a labor of love for the production, the writers, the crew, and the cast and it showed in the final product.  All we can say is … we have always loved Epiphany, and GH will never be the same without the presence of Sonya Eddy.

Now, share your thoughts on the Sonya Eddy tribute episode in the comment section below.
